Can anyone educate me on what is the exact difference betwenn T Mobile g2 and HTC Hero, BASED on SENSE U.I?
I have T Mobile G2(got it tomorrow from a IMporter from Germany in India)
The device has sense U.I. and Android 1.5(Cupcake)
I tried, Terminal EMulator command "su"
it responds "access denied"
It means device is not "rooted"
So does G2 also has sense U.I by default or is it just me??
ANd can't I just install HERO 1.6 ROM or does it requires a ROOT
Hero and G2 Touch are to all extents and purposes identical.
The G2 ROM is just an operator customized version of the Hero ROM - in much the same was that the Orange Hero has an "Orange-flavoured" ROM.
There is no such thing as an official 1.6 update for the Hero - in fact there are no official updates to any version of Android beyond 1.5.
Hero is supposed to be getting an update to 2.1 in June, but we've already got unofficial versions of the ROM (e.g. Villain).
You can't update to any of them without replacing your Hero with a custom recovery image which isn't rooting in and of itself but is part of the process of getting root access.
Take a look at the Wiki pages linked in the Development forum.

I just don't wanna loose my sense U.I, that is why I am not performing an update available from HTC site in G2 category.
There is no Donut for G2 yet, 2.1 in June
ANd about sense U.I, isn't it like this:-
Any phone saying "powered by Google" cannot have sense U.I on it, may be cause Sense U.I makes it possible to use Microsoft Active Exchange.
And another point to contradict myself:-
Since it requires HTC Sync to update ROM on G2( not OTA), and if G2 had sense U.I missing how will be able to synchronize?
What about this ROM. What updates it has and does it has sense u.i?

Install a recovery ROM first, that's by far the most important thing.
(Amon-Ra 1.6.2 is good.)

I, does it mean I have to flash it using sense u.i? If yes then how come I have a sense U.I by default....?
Its confusing, I feel like rooting my phone and doing a custom ROM, end of all story!

You have a 1.7.6 build, so you are on a very early T-Mobile build.
This version of the ROM is very easy to root and/or replace the recovery image.
My advice would be to root and install whatever ROM you fancy on it.

What "Danltn" meant was that you have the choice to either use a ROM with SENSE UI in it,... i.e.....

It is up to you!!!
Use BTDAG's guide (LINK BELOW IN SIGNATURE) to install a custom recovery (amon-ra 1.6.2) then pick the custom ROM you want.
I recommend MCR3.2 (LINK ALSO BELOW). It is fast and stable.
Since my Daimond is finally broken (display broken and in my attempt to replace it, radio signals gone, and the broken display's black film is still attached so i have to reopen it, which again may break the new display.....I know...another story)
So, since I have to locked into android since only Hero survives. I WILL not upgrade to latest ROM, I'll wait till this month to get a hang of andro then by next month i'll root it, and then yes , I'm free to change any ROM

Yes you are correct,... using any official update can un-root your device and may render it un-rootable in future.
If your adamant to keep the T-Mobile branding on your handset thats not a problem. Follow the BTDAG's guide and install the custom recovery image. Then when it comes to getting your ROM to flash, go to Modaco's Stock ROMs + radios in update.zip format for GSM Hero and download the rooted T-Mobile UK 2.73.110.26 ROM (DIRECT DOWNLOAD HERE)
P.S.... There are no official Hero ROMs WITHOUT HTC Sense so the T-Mobile ROM will definitely have it on.

Blackspider, if you do the Hard SPL in your viva you can install any rom afterwards. So if you already did, go ahead and install this rom.

I am having now 6.5 ROM, I am not happy with that. Frequent crashes.
I want to revert to original ROM, keeping in view that I changed SPL. How can I do that?

I already flushed with this ROM. It looks to be promising. But I will see what will happen when I install all my programs.
Win 6.5 didn't work for me. I was having frequent crashes.

VIGOS!! I installed all my programs. Its very cool. Much better than 6.5. Until now no crashes. Big storage like 6.5 but much stable and fast. I would like to advise all to come back to this version.
I have been using it the last weekend and it is fast (although I am not sure if it is faster than 6.5 v11) and stable, but I believe (and it is only an impression) it consumes more battery than the 6.5 rom (v11) could it be? Have any of you noticed something like it?

My own impression is that it is much better than 6.5 version 11. It is faster than 6.5. I didn't notice any battery drain. I had frequent crashes with 6.5, so I reverted back to this version of 6.1.

Compared to previous 2.1 ROM leaks this one is faster & more stable. It's version number suggests it's an official public release instead of a beta testing ROM.
plus it's dated may 10... fresh from the oven
Problem Regarding upgrading ROM in Acer Liquid

I am having problem in upgrading ROM in Acer Liquid.I have downloaded everything from Acer's website but after connecting with the USB;I am having messege that this ROM is "OS file type is Not match, Now stop the whole process." You need to download the ACER DOWNLOAD TOOL in order to flash the rom, which will help you to flash to different version.

Hi, is this the official ACER ROM?
Does it have Multi-touch? I Was using another 2.1 ROM but found it too slow so went back to the official 1.6. Spoke to ACER ope a couple of weeks ago, they couldn't confirm when 2.1 would be launched.
It is by Acer but not officially put out by Acer.
It is leaked to the public.
It does have multitouch. And I have found it to be pretty stable (been using it for the past 1-2 weeks, randomly froze on me twice. But aside from that it has been good).
Hmmm, OK sounds good. The only problem the last time I rooted to 2.1 was that several apps were missing from the marketplace - Seesmic, Wordpress, Barcode scanner to name three (that I use quite a lot!).
Can anyone using this ROM verify they are available?
I don't understand... what do you mean the apps are missing?
The apps on the market are what they are, if you mean apps actually installed on the device that don't show between market installed app list, it's just because you didn't install those by market, but maybe you installed those by some backup app...

When I rooted to a custom 2.1 ROM some apps (the ones I mentioned) were missing from the Apps Market. I was told that this was due to issues with custom ROMS.
So if anyone is using the ACER 2.1 ROM, all I want to know is are those Apps available if I flash my Liquid?
Would this ROM work in Singapore? Do I have to setup the connections or anything? flashing this would void the warranty right? is it possible to revert back to android 1. 6 after flashing?

If you flash the 2.1 ROM, and then Malez Recovery, there's an feature in malezRecoery that enables market, I haven't used it myself, but I think it's what you need.

The 2.1 ROM is for EMEA region (Europe, Middle East, Americas). It may not support your locales & languages. But everything else should work still.

I'm in Taiwan, I have update this rom, everything is fine just one question, battery power
consumed to fast (less than 30 hours), and I have been try the other cooker's rom like Xian 0.7 version, Vach1.0.1, and Batista 1.8.3 . so far last one is on duty and I like it. but I can't install Chinese handwriting app, that's all no other bugs.
by the way, if you want to back to 1.6 version use Acer tools, it can ba back.

Barcode Scanner is baked into the new ROM. Seesmic for Twitter and Wordpress do show up in the Android Market for me. I do know that at some times, certain apps will not be offered to devices with unofficial ROMS or with OS versions more recent than recognized for the device you have. I actually called DataViz on this and several of their apps can download the trial/demo but you can not buy the license.

Flashed the ROM at the weekend and have all the apps I wanted, thanks for coming back though.
Notice that it can be a little sluggish if you have too many apps open at once, well I had 10 open

first I would like to ask for a mirror of your v1.1 ROM because the one you posted in first message does not work for free downloading (only for premium members).
second... I have a problem with the RUU (I am using the one in your v1 ROM) after the first two dialogs appears the 3rd one with checking your pda and then I receive an error that my pda is not connected to the cradle?!?! zune recognises my phone as connected... can it be because of zune detecting an available update?

For download problem, please try using indonesian proxy (xroxy have many list for it)
For install make sure you have active sync for xp or ms conectivity driver to use ruu first

I probably have what it takes to run RUU on my computer since I have already installed a custom ROM using RUU.
I had to install first an older ROM (1.09) to reset my Bootloader version (it was originally 4.5) and the I installed 1.30 ROM and the I installed RSPL, then HSPL and then I was able to install a custom ROM.
Must I restart all the process each time I want to install a new custom ROM?
It is already very difficult to install the ROM and then to install all my software again :-(
I lose all my gamesaves :-(

No, of course not, after cotulla HSPL installed, as long as you do not install stock ROM (rom came with SPL inside), you can install any custom ROM into your device. Most of all custom Rom came with OS or OS+Radio section only, or it means he does not change your HSPL anymore. It still Cotull 1.32 no matter how many times you reinstall again new custom rom.

it may came from conection between pc and mozart, please try another usb cable, if still same, try using another pc.

Hello all.
I have a lg gt540 which came with android 1.6 installed.
I wanted to update it to have a new version of android, because I wanted to install an app from android market and I found that application don't work on android 1.6.
So I decided to update it and I found a post somewhere here, where it say a way to update android via lg updater tool (because 2.1 is supported by lg). I did all the steps and I installed android 2.1 on my phone.
After installing android 2.1 some icons with plus.pl was showing on my screen, I tried to delete them but without any success. Anyway, i said that they can stay there, it's not a big problem.
I did a factory reset because I thought that I can have the 1.6 version back but that was not what I expected.
After the reset the android market is now working and show an error (Sorry! , The application Market (process com.android.vending) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. Force close) and an error appears when I turn the phone on (System UIDs Inconsistent , UIDs on the system are inconsistent, you need to wipe your data partition or your device will be unstable , I'm Feeling Lucky ) And I have the option to pres just the I'm Feeling Lucky button.
I see that when I open google maps the gps can't localize my location (I am connected to internet via wireless).
I have tried to update my os to android 2.3+ maybe this can fix the problem but I haven't succed.I have seen a lot of tutorials here , but most of them have broken links or I don't understand the steps (the way the tutorial is made is for people who has at leas basic knowledge of android stuff, and I don't have at all).
I have done many times factory reset, because I have read that it may resolve the problems but still no success.
Any suggestion from you? Should I try to update to a newer version of android or I should try to make a new manual installation of android 2.1.

Most new user used this tutorial (Everyone here is a first time android user so it is designed for new users). If there are any links broken please post here and we will try to get it for you asap. Now I have to choose a good ROM, because I installed one 2.3.7 and has a lot of stuff in Russian
PS: I want a ROM which is clean, simple, stable and don't have installed hundred of programs.
2.1, 2.2, 2.3 doesn't matter.
I just want to install viber and to work the gps to find my position (or latitude, I am not sure if is called so).

i recommend the (latest) SDSL 2.1 by miroslav_mm - its 2.3.7
all needed Gapps are preinstalled but some bloat too.
you should flash an 170+ mb for system, then you can delete these system apps.
EDIT: Just select your language and reboot -> no russian

all ROMs have english language. Just press menu > settings > scroll to almost last entry which have the "A" icon, there you can change the language in the 2nd entry.

you should use 2.3 because it's much faster than previous versions. avoid 2.1 or below because it's garbage collection is bad, you'll have to run task manager to free memory frequently (which you don't ever have to do in 2.3), besides it doesn't have JIT so apps run very slow
The last part is true but not very true either If we had someone to seriously mod and polish 2.1 like 2.3 it would be very fast! But... app compatibility is bad

What versions does the new rom have? Is it the same as the latest unofficial roms? 8858 to be precise?
I'm currently running 8835 and it still has a few bugs i wanna get rid of. So i wanna know if i can use the latest Dynamics V2 rom or should flash back and go original rom/firmware.
So somebody could give me the OS version and perhaps the Hardware firmwares, that would be great!
yes its the 8858.136 really liking it so far, i had to do the turn off internet trick to get zune to find the update though but worth it

When I update with Cab Sender I get this error:

How can I fix?

It's better to update trough Zune, otherwise you won't get any improvements made by Samsung.

I'll try to update from my ROM to official 7.8
EDIT: It doesn't work, because Zune thinks it's a Lumia.
I downgrade to 7004 and update to 8858
Well, I downgraded to stock 7.1 and updated all along to to 7.8 (9 updates !! )
Tiles are much responsive with the new update (unlike the lag in custom 7.8 ROMs). OS Runs smoothly !!
Hope someone makes a nice custom ROM out this update !!
Maybe we need a new Firmware from Samsung for the custom roms.

Lucky you, i'm stuck at 7.5 refresh (8112) no matter how many times i try the "disconnct" trick
I've used a stock pre-nodo ROM from this forum, everything works fine till version 7.5 refresh. suggestions?

Where did you get it from and how did you flash it? I tried different ROM's and methods, but I can't get it working because I can't get into download mode because of MAGLDR.
