I need a better audio booster for use with my XMI X II Mini speaker, the HD2 isn't quite loud enough, it's leaving the speaker with a lot of headroom.
I have been using the WOW STS HD cab, but I'm finding it hard to boost all frequencies uniformly with it.
Can the built in audio booster be tweaked or is there another program out there that i could make use of?
try the built-in equalizer in pocket player from conduits, maybe it will fit your requirements?

No improvement, seems worse (volume wise) than standard player with audio boost and WOW SRS HD (or even without this).
Edit: Just realised i can use WOW SRS HD with it.
This is still just about on part with standard audio booster i think, will experiment more.
Still would like away to tweak the standard audio booster or WOW SRS HD or an alternative method of boosting audio volume for use with speaker.
Earphones are not a problem (they are loud enough) and i don't mind the standard speaker for ring tones etc...
go the heavy way and starte htc audio booster, pocket player with critical - extreme settings and full bass + bass equalizer preset and srs, i think THAT shoudl be enough xD
for me windows mobile got awsome sound quality, but i still changed to cowon s9 mp

Oh yeah, just realised that audio booster works outside of HTC music player if you configure it in it's standalone app.
How do i configure pocket player to have critical extreme settings?
Edit: I'm just going to assume you meant max settings on the equalizer.
would need to install it again, so dont know exactly, but there are settings like this, just search xD
but its not the best thing of the pocketplayer.. what gives u awsome sound are the DSP plugins + the equalizer -> activate multi DSP in settings and choose surround sound and the bass DSP, maybe something else too, then go to the equalizer and make an awsome own equalizer, i would say with high deeps and ups
then start SRS with a good setting..
and htc Audio booster with like the same equalizer setting as the pocketplayer...
and now go search .flac songs, cause mp3 is to bad for this XD i dont know if it will still sound well after so much things xD..

Well, couldn't find extreme-critical anywhere, maybe it was on an older version.
I just realised that the equalizer which has a soft preamp built in wasn't actually enabled though, it has the word enabled in a list in settings, which made me thought i was enabled, but you actually need to press that and then there will be a tick next to it, there's no box for a tick or anything, nothing obvious that would have given that away.
Anyway I'm all set now, the preamp and equalizer is very loud even without WOW SRS HD.
i was using version 4.0.. >.<
but yea, then its ok^^ already thought what crazy human u are when pocketplayer isnt enough for u xD.. even for me it was enough

Is there any app that will boost the audio quality (for ringtone, music, movies etc)?
also I have another question, I tried the 'anyfolder ringtones' tweak, I did it correctly but somehow it still points out to windows/rings/ any ideas?
thanks
Not sure how you mean 'boost audio quality' because if you listen with headphones you find the audio quality of the wizard very good. If you want to play music with your wizard - there is a very good stereo docking station that does the trick. If you mean try to get a better sound out of the small stereo speakers - then a rom upgrade may help. I noticed an improvement and that why i have stayed with my current rom for now. Also you could try a graphic equalizer to help with the sound = i use the core pocket player . some hacks on the forum that claim to make the sound louder but not better i think!
As for the registry hack - a better solution i think is to place your rngtones in the storage card\my documents folder and they show up in the list of available ringtones
oh thanks for the reply, I appreciate that.
Yea I found that core media player has a built in g.equalizer which in my case doesn't work too well. The problem is the treble sometimes can be too high, or the bass wouldn't come out at all. I have the latest rom, or could it be the headphone? I use the one that comes with it.
About the registry hacking. It doesnt work for me. Yesterday I tried it for hours but it just doesn't work for me. I have to find the solution though cuz I don't want to put all the ringtones and wallpapers in the phone's memory.
Is there any app that can do it fast and easy for me?

Hello,
Tough the "enabled" mark is checked in the audio booster equalizer setup screen, I have to open/close the equalizer page each time I start listening mp3 through TF3D music player to have it working (via Menu > Audio Booster).
Is there a registry tweak or something to force it enabled ?
Thanks for you help.
rom in use? tf3d version? etc?
btw, i suggest (but this is NOT a solution) that you keep audio booster off forever. It sucks really.
I would always recommed Pocket Music player if you're a real music enthusiast. It has a built in equalizer with extra bass and lot of other functions that make music sound better on HTC phones.
Only drawback which may not bother much is it's high on CPU and battery usage/ I would say it's definitely worth it.
Sorry for the lack of information
I updated my signature with rom information
TF3D Version : 1.3.35350.1_1630.38
Btw, are there newer versions of TF3D ?
About Pocket Player, I planned to install it, but I'd like to use TF3D music sometimes (for battery matters mostly), so the Audio Booster is important to me (as I like much better the sound with it set to Rock)
thank you for your help
I've had real problems with the volume of music on my HD. Max volume when playing music is fairly low/average. Max should be loud, it should make me want to turn it down.
I've also been very unsure on the quality of the music and what will give the best quality when playing music. Stock player? Stock player with EQ? Stock player with SRS? Stock player with Dolby? PowerAmp? PowerAmp with EQ?
__
I did about an hour of testing using old ipod headphones and my Sennheiser CX870s.
I put the stock music player widget on the same screen as the PowerAmp widget so I could play one song on them both and pause the player on one and start the other to compare music quality and volume between both players with both headphones. I did this over and over with classical, techno and rock music. that
I don't feel like typing an essay but I can confidently conclude that no combination of EQ in either player or SRS etc gives the music on my HD enough volume.
I can also confidently conclude that music does sound better on the stock Desire HD music player with SRS than PowerAmp. No combination of EQ or preamp settings in PowerAmp sounded better than the stock player with SRS. At the same time though, the difference is not that great.
This is of course all my opinion with my ears and my cx870's.
One problem I've had with the cx870's is that they sound way to bassy with stock player SRS and PowerAmp with the EQ, but that is probably headphone related so not relevant to this.
I found that while jacking up the preamp in PowerAmp did help the volume, it also distorted it and somewhat ruined the clarity of the music. Plus the volume output was still not much better than the stock player with SRS.
^^ Interesting thanks very much for that... much appreciated... I still have to work out much needed replacement the the stock player. I was thinking of trying PowerAmp next.
By the way I have seen some volume raise apps or Android volume unlock that are supposed to help maybe a bit on other phone models have you tired or had any luck with any of them on the Desire HD? Definitely something I'm keen to find a fix to as well as it's not really acceptable IME to play a youtube video and have it too quiet for friends to hear ect.
Take care n good luck. Will post back it I find any good news before you do.
I was using Poweramp first but arrived to the same conclusion than Rogueblade. Stock player has a better sound definition than third party players : less distortion etc...
Do you really find it too quiet? I find mine on the brink of too loud when its on max - I generally have it a click or 2 under, and its loud enough to drown out the sound of anyone around me and the sound of the train.
using headphones i find SRS amazing, im using it even in my car even using the headphones jack
just tried an HD2 and desire next to the DHD, seriously people i don't get what the problem is, the DHD has a much clearer sound
i'm on OTA 1.72 by the way
Am I missing something not?!? I cannot see how it's possible to use the stock player as lets say I copy 2 CDs on to the SD card. When I go to access it though the stock player there is not 1 folder with CD1 and another folder with another CD2 there is just a mess of MP3 tracks and folders. Now that is just one double CD from one artist. I would not like to see what happens when I go and transfer a resonable size collection of my MP3s containing mutliple folders of CD's and live sets, each foldered under artist names and music styles.
Someone please explain it to me if I am wrong. Would I be right to say I need to use another player that specifically has a feature of search/display music by folders?
I find the volume on DHD good enough. I use the device for music in the car and always leave it around half way and fully cracked up on the stereo and it's loud enough.
While listening with headphones I find max too loud but the volume preference would differ from person to person. Also I find SRS gives a nice bass boost which is great.

Yes, the stock htc music application sorts music by artist, album, music and then you can also create custom playlists.
Have you tried winamp for android? If it's anything like the pc version it will perfect for what you need.
Adapt Sound for any of you guys that didn't know makes the sound quality 20 times better. I listened to a song in the Samsung music app and then listened to the same song at the same volume in Winamp and it sounded terrible.
I'm trying to find a way to make adapt sound global, because I absolutely hate the Samsung music app. I'd much rather use Winamp or Poweramp because of all the extra features.
It'd be AWESOME if someone figured out a way to make adapt sound global and put it into a custom ROM, or even made a MOD out of it.
Edit: If you don't believe me test it out for yourself. Go to Settings>My Device>Sound>Adapt Sound, once you get there do the little hearing test, and then play a song in the samsung music app.

WOW!
Was using Neutron thinking it gives the best possible sound.. Until now!
It's unbelievable the difference!
Adapt sound and Neutron would be a killer combination!

Does equalizer app work universally for you? Granted with some eq adjustments, it seems to lower the output level, but I'm still curious if it fixes your issue. Yes, you will have to disable or freeze the built in eq app in touchwiz, for it to work properly.
I might have stumbled on a clue towards applying Adapt Sound globally or with different music apps.. I was fiddling around with it the other day, and then I was testing the Samsung music app and Google Play Music. Of course, music played through Play Music did not enable the Adapt Sound.
However, when I was listening to a song in Play Music, I thought I'd open the Samsung music app to try to run a comparison, and as soon as I opened it, it applied the Adapt Sound to the music that was playing through Play Music! It seems that when the Samsung music app opens, it enables the Adapt Sound regardless if it's actually playing anything or not, and simply keeping it open in a second window (I'm on a Galaxy Note 3) kept the Adapt Sound enabled! As soon as I closed the Samsung music app, the Adapt Sound was disabled and the sound reverted to the default. Perhaps this may give a clue on how Adapt Sound is applied through the Samsung music app, and perhaps make it possible to make a widget with a button that can enable or disable the Adapt Sound feature.
Lars
Any news on this? Maybe a similar app that does the same thing and works on all apps, or a root method to apply Samsung's feature globally?
I hope this is not too late :0
There's only one complicated way to use adapt sound globally... I'll try to explain as good as I can.
You WILL need a rooted phone to make this work.
There's an equalizer app called ViPER4Android, which doesn't only have kick-ass features, but also has a built in "convolver"
So what's a convolver? Basically it lets you simulate effects on audio. It works by having an audio clip, and and another one which has effects on it (in our case adapt sound) and comparing them together to see what changes occurred
You basically take a sine sweep (an audio clip that goes from low frequency to high), and record it paying on your device with adapt sound on (connect your phone to your microphone port by a 3.5mm cable)
Then you import these two clips to an app that can generate convolver presets (Aka impulse response samples)
The result you get is a .Wav file that you put on your phone and select as your convolver presets. And that's it!
What's even more kick-ass is that Viper4android works on neutron. So you're basically combining them three together. You can even think how this sounds.
Hope you found this helpful!

I'm looking for way so replicate the benefits of Adapt Sound (as it works on the Note 7) on my Nexus 6P. The key to adapt sound is the way it creates a profile based on my subjective input (testing my hearing with a given set of headphones; this varies per headphones even). The rest of the eq's and fx processors out there are gimmick to me becaues they are TOTALLY subjective and/or just fluff. You hit the nail on the head with your post; a convolver that is based on the profile created by Adapt Sound. Can you explain more how you have acted on that idea? Ideally (and I might have to try this with Pro Tools), I'd run a sweep on the Note 7 with my profile, record out out the headphone jack, then compare to the sweet and I'd get a diff I could feed to a convolver. If I understand you right, I would do just that, then Viper4Android (which I don't know much about) could apply that andn give me the same effect on my Nexus 6P?
Same idea... I think it can be do next simple way- there is several apps like audiologia.pl that is can make yours audio metrics to left and right channels. All we need to do next it's manualy change eq. setting in V4A or else to normalize sound... BUT there is NO 2 way (two channels L/R) or two different equalizers to left and right channels. Maybe someone can give me information why it is so? Mayby it's hardware impossible?
Adapt sound is a killer feature of samsung phones. I miss it in any non samsung phone I have.
I believe there is a simple way to port it but I never dug the problem.
It's weird that nobody did it until now.

Hi Michael ,
- open Viper4Android -> Menu -> UI Settings -> Expert Mode
- In Master Power section , tick Enable
- In Convolver section , tick enable and choose Impulse Response that you like , I use SPL GoldMike Impulse (you have to download IRS file and import it to Viper4Android - to import copy the IRS file to /internal-storage/Viper4Android/kernel folder)
- List of some IRS sample file (free & paid)

- Playback Gain Control section , tick enable , select Moderate Effect Strength , 4x Max Gain
- Fidelity Control Section , enable viper bass , select Natural Bass mode , 40Hz Freq ,6db Bass Boost , enable Viper Clarity , Ozone+ mode , 8db Clarity
I heard Viper4android consumes more battery, but is it a lot or not even noticeable?

I'm using viper4android just with noice cancelling headset. I'll share my settings if anyone want to try.
I'm using Exiztenz 3.1.5 as my ROM...
My music player is PowerAMP > I set the equalizer to "Rock" > the the bass knob 1 third up and the treble 2 thirds up.
I use Sony stock audio settings > sound effects > equalizer on "Heavy" > headphone settings on Studio > Headphones as STH-30.
Then i use skull candy "smokin buds" as my headset.
Great for my liking, i only listen to EDM and Hip Hop
Does viper4android works on stock rooted .402?

yeah.. same here.. Viper makes the phone sound louder but, stock config sound just way better and clean.. People often confuse "Good Quality" with "More Volume"
Thanks for yours replies, but what configuration do you use on Sound Effects?
Is there any way to adjust phone speakers' volumes seperately? My top speaker is louder than bottom speaker. And call sound is low.
