SIM Toolkit problem - XPERIA X10 General

I'm a Vodafone Pay As You Go user, my SIM card is under a year old and was working happily with my X1.
In my X10, if I access SIM Toolkit to check, say, balance... so I select Balance, wait a couple seconds, then it should return with the value of my balance. But instead, the value is some gibberish characters. Same thing when I want to check my number.
I purchased my X10 sim free, and it looks like to be an asian X10 (2 manuals in English and Indonesian) and I purchased it in UK.
Details in "About Phone":
Firmware version: 1.6
Baseband version: 1.0.14
Kernel version: 2.6.29-rel
Build number: R1FA014
Although, *#1345# works to check balance and *#100# works to check my number, just not through SIM Toolkit. So this is just a minor issue really, but would like to know if any other Voda UK PAYG user out there with the same problem.

This is not working on all Android Phones! Use the free callnumber or look online!

Ah I see, I've looked through Google and no one seems to be having this problem. And yes, that's what I've been doing so far.
Thanks for the info.

It does come out, but you don't need to do that to get the serial number.
Go to the settings tab, scroll all the way down and select "About". Then select "Phone Identity" and scroll down to see the serial number (S/N).
Okay thanks but now i get a new problem, it says my device is not suitable for this software. I got a Dutch Htc Hd 2 so i don't get why it's nog letting me download it.

That's fine mate - you're making perfect sense. Your English is good.
The ROMs on the HTC site are for unbranded phones (SIM free). You will need to use Goldcard to install the new ROM. Read this thread to learn about it...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=591239
I'm afraid I can't advise you on the Goldcard, as I myself have never used it. Lots of others have though, so I'm sure they'll help if you get stuck.
Good luck
Okay, thanks for your fast posts . I'll see what i'm going to do.

HTC HD2 T-Mobile UK problems

Hi, searched high and low on here. Does anyone have an idea of what serial number would be of an unlocked HTcHD2 from what HTC call Europe 1? I am useless at ROM/tech stuff. HTC won't let me upgrade my ROM as my phone is Tmobile locked. My biggest problem with this is that Tmobile will not release any updated ROMs because it would unlock the Youtube app in HD2. Why? God only knows. I just want my phone to work as HTC intended and get value for money both with technical support and features. If anyone can help would appreciate greatly.

You haven't search hard enough!
There are only 6 or so sticky threads at the top of the forum section that go into minute detail about how to do exactly what you want.
So read them and come back with any (unanswered) queries.
Searching on here can be a bit difficult at times. Try this...http://www.google.com/advanced_search?q=+site:http://forum.xda-developers.com&hl=en&lr=&as_qdr=all to help you out.

After you've done the above you also need to remove the proxy server; which T-mob settings put in by default.
( Comm Manager -> Menu -> Connections. Under T-Mobile, Set up proxy server. Uncheck "This network uses e Proxy Server..." )
goto t-mobile directly..its what i did unlock straight from them the best and the safest way of a guaranteed code, but you will have to be with them for more than a month to get the code this is with HD2..
T-Mobile charges £15 pounds to give you a unlock code.
If you now a friend who works for T-Mobile than you can ask him and see if he can give you the unlock code
why are people telling the OP to unlock the phone? thats not the issue or part of what they wanted to do
If he wants it how HTC intended it then unlocking it is part of it
But if the OP is on T-Mobile then it's not an issue, just HSPL it and away you go!!

Phone number format - Pls help

i live in hongkong and i've set my region to USA on the phone. everything work good except the phone number format as it displays like (123)456-78. but i actually expect it to display like 12345678; with no bracket & minus sign. problem is if i set my region to hongkong, some apps like opera will then display in chinese menu! pls help, what i want is to have everything display in english yet phone number will display as 12345678 (with no bracket & minus), is there any registry hack or sort out there?
If you want that kind of phone number format then set it to UK.

New Offical ROM 2.07.51.22 (UK) ??

There was a new ROM listed on the HTC (UK) site earlier and now it has disappeared. (Release Date: 2010-06-17)
If you goto http://www.htc.com/uk/supportdownloadlist.aspx?p_id=297&act=sd&cat=2 you will notice that it isn't listed there.
If you goto http://www.htc.com/uk/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=297&cat=2&dl_id=960 you will see the details of the ROM (2.07.51.22)
I have tried to download this but it rejects my serial number. Anyone else have any luck trynig this?
I tried searching the forum but couldn't see any posts on this yet.
For me it is there.

Can you download it? When i goto the main list of ROMS it doesn't show up. If i goto the direct link i can see it, but can't download as it rejects my serial even tho i have a WWE unbranded handset. I'm currently on ROM 1.66.
I can't load it, because I've a German device. But it is for me in the list and it is marked " Date: 2010-06-17".

EDIT: Posted into ROM-section - maybe anybody can help there: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=6893951#post6893951

This is weird! It did show up for me as in your pic but it has now disappeared for the list. This is what i have in my list :
odd, that looks more like a radio version than a rom version. can't try the download though, not on pc. hmmm.
I have now tried another WWE Serial that was posted elsewhere in the forums and this also doesn't work.
Has anyone had any luck downloading this?

Yeah, but there is quite an "extended" changelog provided by HTC - I didn't know sth. like this from HTC until now...
I've just entered the serial from under the battery as well as the serial from my current ROM (energy june 11th) no luck with either
Don't see it anymore...

seems to be last O2 released rom, as well?
So - this is nothing new then.......................
I have emailed HTC to see what they are say.
I hate HTC for that. Why do they always release something and name it after sth. completely different. After a couple of customer-complaints and corrections they will change the information... Are there only idiots at work?
It was the same with ALL branded ROMs here in GER, and the famous SMS-Hotfix is still a RADIO...
HTC, you should rather care for your customers than going to court vs. Conflipper... and your E-Mail-support - it seems that the only condition to get an engagement in your customer support is being able to breathe autonomously... when I came from SE to HTC, I thought customer care could only become better - but HTC is just a whole freakin' mess...
BTW: a 2.07-ROM for EUR woud have been strange anyway...
Sorry, for getting OT...
lol, maybe it's a response test on us lot, , see how quickly it gets found when they put something on the server,
So is this really just a Radio upgrade? Because I'm currently on Stock 1.66 WWE Rom with Radio 2.10.50.07 from Middle East & Africa HTC site.

[Q] Differences between 2.1 versions

Hi,
because of all this 'nordic' upgrade i've started to wonder - are they differences between those android versions?
I had Germany 1.6 version, now i have nordic but to be honest - i cant see any difference between them.
Do you know any?
There are no major diff. Probably only operator specific settings will be aplied on some "versions".
I believe update was not rolled out for all devices because you can imagine the massive load that has to carry out the servers of SE and the network.
Cheers
Yasen

Well, generic firmware is going to be the most basic type.
Differences come into play when you talk about Carrier specific-changes. For example, Docomo's X10 has a special APN setting and new OS hooks for push i-mode mail, which won't work on any other firmware.

Yes, i think so but are you sure (about this diffs)?
About the servers - i dont think that SE upload FW on their own servers - they probably are using technogy like akamai or similar.

Push I-Mode Mail (SP-Mode) works perfectly fine on the Nordic 2.1 Rom. So no extra-hooks required from DoCoMo
Please discuss in 2.1 thread
