I-Mate ROM upgrade

According to Club-imate, the 1.66 rom update should be released sometime next week for those who are registered on their site.

Is that upgrade going to have the WM Second Edition in it.

Great, that's club I-mate, but what about Carrier Devices in Australia.
The tech support on their site in non-existent. Compare it to O2. I have emailed them twice about the update with no answers at all. In the past I have asked them about the updates posted at club I-mate and they have told me that these are for their Middle East customers only!!!???

I doubt very seriously that 1.66 will include the SE functions. I would expect at least a couple of months for them to tweak it for the imate before releasing it (if they ever do)

If the Club i-mate site recognizes your IMEI, the update will be for you. Carrier Devices have both English and Arab ROMs available (only the 1.52 ROM at the moment), so the information about Australian ROMs that you were given is incorrect, gbvb.
And no - despite the rumour, I believe it won't be Second Edition, which is why I haven't posted it to XDA Developers news as yet. I'd prefer to report on what it has when it comes out ;-)

new IMATE rom 1.66 to include WM2003 IInd Edition
Hi, just spoke with Suzan at the clubimate site and she confirmed that the new ROM update for Imates will be released in a week's time and will have the WM2003 Second Edition. That is great news and looking forward to it.

New Rom 1.66.00 WWE from I-mate
This ROM does not have the Windows 2003 SE. I just got the device (2 days ago) and I can assure you it does not contain this newest version of 2003 SE OS. It is simply too early for it to actually have it, as it was just released.
As for why the Device came with the ROM and the Club I-mate has not updated their site yet to download it for club members... this is anyones guess.
Maybe they are having troubles in the "Automated download-- Installation fault free as to not destroy devices" category....

[Jul 17] New ROM from HTC

has anybody noticed that is a new ROM available for download @ HTC club web site?
and has anybody installed and tested it? Is this a WM 6.1 upgrade?
The WWE ROM is RUU_Polaris_HTC_WWE_1.25.405.1_radio_sign_25.65.30.04_1.58.21.23_Ship
it's also available for download an Arab ROM version.

although the date in the HTC site is recent (Jul 14) is ROM seems to be old!!!

This rom was intalled in my Cruise when i bought it for 6 month ago so its a very old one. Rom is dated 12/2007 and is 6.0

well, according to a norwegian site, smartmobil.no, the wm6.1 is scheduled to come in august....but we all know how it works with htc and their promises..

Yea.. you never now when its about HTC, if they talk about August, you cant tell witch year they are talking about

My non-branded Polaris was bought with that ROM already.
It's working without any problems, so far...

for my S/N HTC says: "Sorry, this software download is not suitable for your device."

When i log in (selected country netherlands) to the e club
theyve got some ringtones for download ... kinda cool. but no software update.
when i select worldwide i also get the: " Sorry, this software download is not suitable for your device." message damn damn .. cus it may be a wm6.1 rom... but it doesnt say what it is exactly.. or what the improvements and upgrades are

on the polaris and touch forums there are the same non working updates.. some guy on the polaris forum says that htc has planned wm 6.1 update for sept 08... so maybe thats it or... its just a rumour...

I do not understand, why they don't bring out a new ROM for everyone... I mean, we also bought the device, and we have a right, getting the update!

It looks like it's only available for users in The Middle East & Africa region, since other countries don't have the link.

Can not upgrade diamond 2 to WM 6.5

Hi , I need help to understand why I cant upgrade my diamond 2 to WM 6.5
Here is my current version ( I got my phone in Hong Kong )

I downloaded an update , it started to run but then I got a message :
Error 294 - invalid vendor ID
So my question is :
1. Why there is no update available from official HTC site ?
2. How in any case I can upgrade it ? what's wrong with my vendor ID ?

If you read previous posts about that message, someone said it was because the 6.5 upgrade is not for your region. Hong kong in europe?
You have to wait for the upgrade to be available for hong kong/asia.

Hong Kong belongs to asia.actually I live in another country,but got my phone in h.kong.
but version of my rom is an english one,is there some workaround to install it anyway?

htc has now actually realesed the official update
when i tried to upgrade mine from the htcpedia one it bricked my phone, i mananaged to recover it and install stock 6.1 onto it so hopefully now that im going from a stock 6.1 rom rather than a custom 6.5 it should work lol

I have the same problem as you, and as I can see you have same original ROM, I tried also from another region with same problem ERROR [294].
You may also have S/N HT98LL as I, now I know it's from hongkong (I'm and bought my phone in Paraguay )
Is there anyway to install european ROM? breake the zone from my phone to install official ROM from somewhere else?

Hi,
This has managed to brick mine as well - how did you recover?
It only goes to the touch diamon 2 loading screen and then freezes.

Mine S/N is "ht97xl......." .
Some one have an idea what to do ?
When HTC will release an update for this vendor ?

Figured it out:
They have only released European versions of the upgrade which does not work with those of us that have asian ones. The HTC huys don't have a release date for the Asian English Winmo 6.5 ROM release.
Not impressed really.

so lets wait .... I don't want to break my phone with unofficial ROMs and loose my warranty. Cant they that their ROM will be perfect,but anyway ...

Branded TD2's got other serials, so you can only dl ROMs released by your vendor. Also you won't be able to flash the ROM if phone is not unlocked (you need hardspl 1.83).

I've bought my phone unbranded and unlocked, it is not a phone from my provider. The serial i've put in to the field for download ist valid, otherwise i wouldn't get so far to the select the rom file and the the region.
I wrote to the HTC support and they answered: "Wir moechten Sie bitten, den Download zu einem spaeteren Zeitpunkt noch einmal zu versuchen. "
But maybe its better to leave a running system at it is. I've read the thread "Issues with the official 6.5 build" and it does not fills me with confidence in 6.5. Maybe i should try a cooked rom. Will see.

The official HTC Rom is ok, but I really can recommend udK's Leo R6 (German version) or Dutty's Holy Grail R1 (a bit faster but WWE). Both are better than stock ROM.

Today I have flashed my TD2 with your recommended udK Leo R6 and I'm surprised, I have much more space left after the installation. Original, as I bought my device, there were only 180 mb free data space, with this cooked rom I have far over 200 mb left after flashing. Until now, after some hours of playing around i like it, it feels faster. And I'm very happy, that my first attempt of hardspl and rom flashing was successful.

My ROM is "Eastern Europe" (Bought in UK!) and they told me to go to

Sure enough, a valid ROM was available for download Apparently they won't to hosting all the ROM's to the HTC site!

Please Explain the ROM Updates and WinMo updates

Hey guys,
I have a copuple of questions concerning the updates for my HD2.
First of all, I am mainly interested in updating ROM with the ship versions, and my only wish is to be up to date.
Currently I am using the ship version of the rom 1.66.405.2 WWE edition and I think that it is the latest one, correct me if I am wrong?
Now for the real question, I see that in most cooked rooms the WM version is 6.5, but, when I go to the software info on my phone I can see that OS version is 5.2.21869 and manilla is 2.5.19211619.0.
Does this mean that I have some old version of the WinMo??
I will repeat that I am interested in SHIP versions of ROMs, but I would like to have the latest versions of the ROM and Win Mo...

The latest shipped ROM is the 2.10 US T-Mobile ROM. Should you wish to use it you'll have to first install HSPL and then you can do what you want

Thanks for the answer I have already installed HSPL as I had a German language Leo and I wanted the English one.
A question concerning the 2.19 US T-Mobile ROM, is it only intended for the US mobile networks or it can be also used for European one's?
What about the WM, do i have really the 5.2 version or I am missing something?

Hi. Here is my take on things. There are two types of shipped ROMS on the HD2. the ones published by HTC (1.66.4052 WWE is the latest one of these - in the UK at least) and the ones shipped by mobile service providers (apparently the new T-Mobile in the US ships with 2.10, but doesn't in the UK).
When you refer to the OS version on your phone I'm not sure how that number equates to the the Microsoft base operating system (which is 6.5 I believe, maybe there is a list somewhere that shows what the HTC OS code means). You are not out of date however for a shipped ROM.
Manilla is another name for the User Interface on the HTC (also called sense, it you want to pretend to be technical you call products by generations old names instead of the real one LOL).

Hi,
I think that perhaps you might need to keep (or reinstall) the radio version for your country or region If you get hold of a US T-Mobile ROM. I haven't heard of anyone installing this ROM in europe.
I am on the same ROM as you, that is the latest HTC stock ROM in Europe I believe. That comes the 2.06.51.07 Radio and I dont believe there has been any official update to that in europe.
