I'm too ...
I shearch after a emulation progams and game iphone....

same as you guys. you know, i have though of various method. Of course, method like calling steve jobs and threaten him isn't realistic. This is what I came up with and worked with my acer phone:
get some tape, tape all over your acer s200, make sure it's all covered, and then you smash it against the floor. After a while you will find acer's connection hole became bigger. you plug your regular iphone usb cable in and ta-da, it worked like a real iphone now!

?!?
MultiTouch Games on the ACER ????!!!! That wouldn't be funny.

Workout Strap

I go to the gym a lot and see quite a few people with iPods strapped to their arms. Some have their iPhones as well.
I'm wondering if there is an arm strap that would fit the Titan (xv6800) even if it is not entirely designed for it.
I'm planning on using my Motorola Bluetooth headset to rock out while I work out. So access to buttons is not really needed. Just touch screen.
THere is no item that fits or no one exercises?

I just ordered an arm band from ebay. It hasn't come in yet so I can't comment on it but I'll certainly let you know how I like it.
Try this.....you can usually pick some up relatively cheap. Not the most stylish.....but hey, it works for everything!
well I was going to recommend a shoe string but I think the duck tape is the ultimate solution. Way to go McGuyver. I looked around (only foir a short period) and did not see any type or workout strap for that phone. Perhaps a universal or generic case/strap would be better. I'll keep my eyes open.
Another solution is to somehow extend your bluetooth range (that is if you're staying in one general area) and just wear your headset instead so you dont have to carry your phone around.
ipods look fine strapped to arms, but the mogul is too big and heavy. I wouldn't trust any strap to hold this titan down. Even if it doesn't fly off at high velocity, it might get bumped on machinery.
The only true solution would be wolverine-style adamantium bone-grafted mogul holder with mini-usb and audio connectors.
It's only a matter of time people. Don't just hold your phone, click it onto your skeleton!
What?!??? Isn't carrying this brick around work-out enough?!???!???
The armband from ebay came in and it works fine (look for iphone sport and you'll find it) It's definitely a tight fit but there is absolutely no chance of it coming out. $6 shipped.
I also read on PPC geeks that the dimensions of the original Zune are similar. So a sports band for the Zune will probably work too
I use the stock holster, i put it on my back and work out! I have the motorola s9 bluetooth. So far no uissues at all.
I bought one for the Zune and use that...it works pretty well

[Q] Some way to strip the iconia to remove weight?

Ok, maybe this is kind of a stupid question but i just wanted to ask if someone knows, what exactly makes the differnce in weight between all the new honeycomb tablets and if there is a way to strip the iconia to "remove" some of the weight by replacing components with lighter ones? I guess most of the weight is the battery, an the casing. maybe u can remove some plastic inside the iconia which is just not really useful or stuff
anyone got some ideas?
kiark
Just look up the weight of each tablet on the main sites, i think the iconia isnt even the heaviest.
Why ruin a great product? I mean you do what you wanna do but every piece in that machine is made and put there for a reason.
work out
If your Iconia is to heavy for you.best bet is to got the gym. There is nonesuch to make the device lighter it is what it is.Near perfect in every way, kinda almost as perfect as me. You could buy the a100.im sure its prob lighter.
Have a great day.
Good luck at the gym.
Please don't think my post as being rude.our device is what it is.
Giggles
sure
Open the case, rip out the board and battery cell, invent a featherweight case that fits the original physics package 100%, remount it all in your new prototype case.
rip out the display and replace it with holographic projector*
*holographic projector may not exist in this temporal frame.
Don't be so rude to me guys
As there are many hardware "mods" out on different platforms as the psp or handhelds general i was just wandering if there is a way to "mod" the iconia regarding weight. for example part of the case is brushed aluminium which could be replaced by plastic, and i bet there are different parts from the hardware inside which may be lighter.
don't get me wrong, i like the iconia very much but i'm also into modification, as i think all of you are, since your iconias will have custom roms or upgrades or are rooted or whatever. only difference is software and hardware.

Sorry, not trying to be rude, just funny, perhaps look for Chinese OEM gear or replacement parts that are available from a third party.
p.s your English is fine.
The only way to make this tablet lighter is if you remove your battery and use it as an AC only device.

The Acer is heavier than most other tablets but I have found that it is also well balanced. The weight doesn't really bother me. I think it is the aluminum case that makes it a little hearvier.
It always makes me laugh because reviewers will either complain that the device feels cheap if it is made of plastic or too heavy if it is made of aluminum, except for iPad 1 which according to many of them had a "premium feel" when it was basically the same weight as the Iconia.
Would love to see some sort of casemod for the iconia.

What Bluetooth Keyboard Folios/Cases work with Acer Iconia A500?

So I have one of the USB keyboards and it works great, but takes up the port. There can be found here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1175316
I am honestly happy with that one BUT
1) I am wondering if there is a bluetooth keyboard folio/case yet for the Iconia Tab so the port is not taken
2) If there is an Acer branded keyboard so all of the keys will work with the specific tablet
3) do the Apple and Xoom bluetooth keyboard folio/case work with the Acer?
month later - anything?
thought I would bump this thread. Is there ANY Bluetooth keyboard folios / cases that works with the Acer yet???
I don't think that the xoom bluetooth shouldn't have any problems, because it's both Android and bluetooth.
I wouldn't buy apple's keyboard before you can go into a store and ask if you can try it (because it can have a security handshake with other apple hardware)
I'm looking for a case that can hold a keyboard and tablet in one, but havn't found one for the Acer just yes (if you find one, let me know)
Xoom keyboard does work and there is a keyboard that Acer makes, just google it .
But I haven't seen any bluetooth cases yet.
Here is one I am considering: http://amzn.to/xJLQIO
Reviews on it are a little hard to go by, since the only reviewers so far are Xoom or Thrive users, and I'm not sure how the dimensions compare.
The mounting solution is rather interesting. It comes with 2 different sizes of rubber pieces that slide over the corners of the tablet, then Velcro to the inside of the folio. With our tablets being a bit on the heavy side, I'm not sure how well or long that would hold.
One thing I like about this one over the USB one mentioned in the OP (aside from it leaving the port open) is that this is a free standing case that looks like it could sit on your lap fairly easy, whereas the other one has that narrow easel stand which requires that it sit on a flat surface.
I'm still torn between them. If I had the cash, I'd just buy them both and return the one I don't like but that's not really an option, so I'll just hope someone else on here has tried this case.
There is an acer A500 specific keyboard. I use it and it works well. It has quick access keys for swapping apps and such straight from the keyboard. Not sure about a folio case though. I just use a laptop sleeve to carry everything and a hipstreet tablet stand to keep the tablet up.
I use a BT keyboard designed for the HP Touchpad and it works great

Check out eBay, they have some nice folio cases, pretty cheap too

I bought the Kensington and it is GREAT. It is the only case i use with my Acer now. The keyboard is really nice, no lag and the entire thing is first class.
this is the best android-buttoned keyboard (IMHO) that i have found. probably gonna get it when i have some leftover cash. has anyone here tried it with our tab?

The keyboard in the Kensington FOLIO KEYBOARD CASE is almost exactly the same as that sony one, and you get the full case/cover.
The wireless keyboard in the Kensington folio is just about the best wireless keyboard I have purchased to date, and you get the case with it. Can use with or without the case.
well, i'm not really into the folios, and the kingston doesn't seem to have the android specific keys like the sony....

what do you mean? all of the keys work with Android perfectly??
if you look at the one i linked to, it has dedicated keys for back, home, multitask, menu, and search. the "android buttons".
the picture quality of the kingston wasn't that great but it didn't look like it had the dedicated android keys to me...

the Kensignton one is NOT a cheap overseas one - it is much nicer
Check out this page on their website for info, videos, etc -

This is their brand new one that looks amazing -

I DID NOT buy direct from them as I found them much cheaper elsewhere
i said PICTURE quality was not that great. kingston is a good brand, i've bought their products before.
perhaps you could take a picture of your kingston's keyboard so we can see what the key layout is? i can't find a good pic online.

Looking for preorders / donations

Hello everyone, recently picked up an acer a500 over the weekend and i have to admit i am in love with it, i have always thought that tablets were useless when i have an android phone but i have to admit, this thing has changed my mind, and the fact that it has full usb makes it even better, but I have been a little annoyed at the lack of a keyboard / laptop dock. After reading a couple of threads about what the dock connector does on the tab I have decided to fill the need for this adapter. What i have planned includes the following.
Definite features are:
Full Keyboard
Charging ability
Extra usb ports
Possible features are:
Built in harddrive and OR memory card reader
Built in battery (obviously a little expensive to add so may be not possible)
Built in trackpad to use as a mouse.
I am just trying to see how many people would be interested in this and what they would be willing to pay for this. I would love to provide an adapter for the community since acer didn't make one, I also have a couple of other questions as well, if i made two models, one with a battery built in and one without how much more would you be willing to pay for an extra battery, also this would be a fordable dock meaning you could fold it together to carry like a normal laptop.
I look forward to hearing some responses, i hope to be able to offer this for about $100 or less however the more features obviously the more expensive it will be to implement.
if its possible, i'd love to buy one!
Awesome, I plan to have a prototype made by the weekend, i think the material of choice is going to be wood since it's light weight, easy to manipulate and also sturdy and it doesn't conduct electricity
once i see a working prototype, then id preorder, until then all your doing is fishing for donations, ive been lurking xda for quite some time and usually people with so few post and not a recognized developer are just spewing flights of fancy and never actually create anything, though if im wrong, prove me wrong and ill be the first to not only apologize but preorder one. not trying to be a d*ck just saying how it usually goes..
If it looks good and works ill be instrested

No worries I understand completely, once I have a prototype done then and only then will I accept any orders or donations, should have made that more clear beforehand sorry about that, right now I'm just judging the interest of the community for such a product.
How will you be connecting this? AFAIK, the full pinouts and capabilities of the dock connector are not known...

Using my volt meter and some old fashion trial and error, I'm pretty confident in my abilities just need to actually get started on development, going today to look into what my supplies are going to cost.
A voltmeter isn't anywhere near enough... You might want to check out this thread first.
I know I will need more than a voltmeter, and yes i read that before i decided to embark on this project. This is where trial and error will come in, from a usb standpoint since there is an apparent lack of usb support through the dock this will be circumvented by having a small plugin to the usb host port in order to connect the planned additional usb devices in the dock.
genius
This is fantastic! I've been searching for a good case too, this sounds perfect, give the Transformer a run for its money. I'd buy one, let me know.
The dock connector doesn't have the required pins for USB, or really anything other than charging.
any prototypes up? the idea of the keyboard dock extra battery and usb mouse sounds like bliss
It could be some sort of variation of the keyboard that Acer already made for this tablet. Perhaps modifying it so that you can put the dock in to charge and have the input device (in this case the keyboard) connect via bluetooth. Having the touchpad for a mouse is a different story though.

Be cautions with Trial and error on a mobile device . there electronics will not be forgiving any type of over voltage or short circuits . And you could very well be shopping for a new ICONIA .
To me a dock for a hand held tablet is counter productive . PEOPLE BUY A NETBOOK.its faster more power more storage more battery . LESS MONEY.
Ok the above is my opinion only I have a 11.6 inch hp notebook with the new multi core amd fusion cpu i get unbelievable battery life. Near that of my iconia .
with a full keyboard and track pad 1.2 tb hard drive
So good luck . by the way if you get the connectors and hardware worked out make the case out of lexon or carbon fiber both easy to work with and mold to any shape . acrylic works well also..
GOOD LUCK INSURE your iconia and home up front Erica Renee

Acer has not made a keyboard that uses the dock for this tablet. You may be thinking of the W500 keyboard, or of a USB keyboard.
To be honest, I don't see this going anywhere. OP, I'd suggest you find out how to get USB or Keyboard off of that connector before asking for preorders.
To anyone else, I'd suggest you just keep looking. Not to be rude or mean to him, but the OP seems to be rather noobish, and I think your money would most likely be better spent elsewhere, or at least held onto until there's some sort of result or breakthrough.
Also, the OP only having 9 posts throws up a red flag to me.

[Q] Cracked screen! :( Fix or write off?

Hey peeps,
Took my tablet out of its case the other day and saw a huge black splotch created by a crack in the screen! Dunno how, let's blame the dogs for now...
Question is: Should I replace the screen? ($90 without digitizer on ebay)
OR put that money towards a better tablet\one with a collaborative developer non-hostile environment (like my galaxy gio)
Fix it then sell it if you want a different tablet.
Seems like too much effort to wait for shipping then replace the screen only to make back a little cash. Looking at prices for parts I would be better off tearing it up and selling it in pieces.
After looking around there is the Acer 510 and the Asus Transformer 300 that are both quad core tegra 3 with ICS selling for $400 but I could just grab a Galaxy Note for $500 and replace my phone AND tablet in one hit! *ponders*
Galaxy note is a bit to big to be using as a cell phone. Its so funny watching someone with that thing up to there ear. It might be worse then the first ever motorolla brick 5 lb phones that hooked to a antana in a external case . Talk about frying your brain .

not a terrible idea! the device still works..may as well put it to use! Any other suggestions what I could use it for with only 2/3 of the screen visible?
As for the note, it's totally not too big to talk in to even without a bluetooth hands free kit. Tried one out in the store the other day and fell in love...only thing stopping me is the Galaxy SIII rumours (4.8" 1080p screen and a quad core 1.5 OMG) Once that is announced I will make a decision whether to wait or jump in.
