Need an expert hand with Sense 2.1 and aGPS confirmation - Windows Mobile

Hello fellow Chefs and hackers alike. I need a little help with something and I have tried everything and totally exhausted my resources. The problem is getting aGPS confirmation working (google location services). All I can get is a blank page. I have tried other versions of HTC framework, shared modules, WM 6.1, WM 6.5, everything you can probably throw at me I have tried. I am thinking I need to use other versions of Google Location services and aGPS confirmation. Believe me when I tell you I have searched for the packages myself and came up with too much cluttered results yielding no other cabs or packages besides the ones I currently use. I can tell you that I have my kitchen set up beautifully. My Sense 2.1 packages are proper meaning including everything required for total functionality. I prefer 2.1 for the full landscape support, but I really need to get aGPS confirmation working all I can get is a blank screen instead of the actual settings to turn location services ON or OFF. I also am having problems with New Contact Card. When I cook Sense 2.1 for WM6.1 and create a new contact card I have to use the dpad to select the different areas of the card, if I tap anywhere on the screen the program crashes. I have no problems with it with WM6.5. I have tried 3 other versions so if someone could recommend a version known to work and not have those problems it would be appreciated. The main problem I want solved is aGPS location services showing a blank screen instead of settings. Versions below of all of my packages included and required in Sense 2.1. Thanks in advance for all of your input and advice.

Some questions:
Are you cooking for TouchPro?
Can you post a complete EXT build log?
Do you have GoogleMaps cooked in?
When you say a blank screen you mean totaly blank or it looks like a white screen with semitransparents words?

Hey thanks for your reply. So far this is happening when cooking for the Touch Diamond CDMA. But I also cook for the Touch Pro. Havent tested it on there yet but I am sure it will be the same. Yes google maps is cooked in but I have read that Google Location Services and aGPS confirmation has nothing to do with Google Maps location and that it is seperate.
I added a screenshot to my first post of what the aGPS Location Settings page looks like. Its supposed to give you the option to turn location services OFF or ON and as you can see its blank.

loks like youe missing the text file
also had when i tried to make my wwe rom in to dutch
when i had that screen in dutch and put a other language pack in the problem whas solved for me:-o

Miniterror is right , it seems that you miss the .mui in 0409 folder.

I was pretty sure of it...weel....this is my build log, i cook for kaiser but beside Manila the other packages are the same as a VGA.
My AGPS works fine, check it , maybe you can see something util:

Can you upload these three packages of yours to try? I noticed you have slightly older versions, who knows may work I would like to give it a shot.
aGPS Confirmation
Google Location Service
HTC Geo Service

Sure...here you go ...but i guess that my AGPSconfirmation is uselles for you since it has the xml for QVGA, and i guess ive found your problem too....you are using the AGPSConfirmation from Rhodium i see and it is WVGA while your phone is VGA, so maybe the problem is the .xml inside your AGPSConfirmation folder.
Must find an AGPS in VGA.....let me see what i have.

Nevermind , i see from this thread that you are using that one from TMOBILE Touch Pro 6.5.

The aGPS packages I got from a Sense 2.1 VGA thread. I looked at all the xmls in my current packages and they are definately for VGA. I will try your packages using my XML and see if it works.
Edit: I tried the older packages. Still exact same results. Someone please let me know what I am missing. I already listed what I included for Sense 2.1 to function as well as I have it working which is great. Just not the aGPS location settings page. I am stumped and at a loss.

the problem is a mixture of these 2 packages:
HTC Framework Rhodium 1.1.19191322.00
HTC Scroll 1.0.1914.2726
if you're using wm 6.5, you need to use a (real) HTC Scroll 2.x package. the framework can't load the fake htcscroll2.dll that's included in that 1.0.1914.2726 package. that particular package is only meant for wm6.1.
if you're using wm 6.1, you need to be using a patched htcAfe.dll for the framework package. that will force it to load htcscroll.dll instead of htcscroll2.dll. htcscroll2.dll seems to be a wrapper for wm6.5's physics engine.
that New Contact Card package requires wm6.5 since it was taken from the tachi. it'll crash on some builds of wm6.1.

Ok then 1 out of 2 problems solved. Do you have any advice on the aGPS settings page showing up blank no matter what OS or build I use?

Ok, I happened to find an older htcAfe that you patched for WM6.1.. I now can get the location settings to show up but they are greyed out! Keep in mind that I am using 6.5 but this obviously is getting me a step in the right direction. I am going to test on 6.1 now and see if it fixed my contact card issue. Because on 6.5 creating a new contact works fine still which is good. So this htcAfe.dll patched for wm6.1 is now allowing me to see what the settings are for aGPS location settings but I still cannot turn location ON or OFF. I know this is confusing but hopefully you get the point. Screenshot also attached. I am one step closer! Let me know if you think I should use another patched htcAfe and link me to it if you can. Otherwise tell me how to ungrey out the ON and OFF for enable location.
Edit: Seems to work after starting from a fresh ROM and accepting the Location Terms Of Service when updating weather. But still doesnt work for me. Might just be my location who knows! Another note, WM 6.1 even with the patched htcAfe still has the contact card crashing problem, unless I use the Dpad to scroll down. I am going to try another version of the contact card etc.. Wow this is a lot of trouble to perfect something!

i have this exact problem..i can turn on or off the Agps!and i think this is because of a missing .DLL

do you guys know any solution?

Weather broken on Today after update to WM6.1. CANNOT overwrite WeatherCities.xml!

Weather broken on Today after update to WM6.1. CANNOT overwrite WeatherCities.xml!
Yay, I have GPS, Rev A, and for me the machine is noticeably faster.
Problem is the flash trashed my HH_0409_WeatherCities.xml. I know my AccuWeather International API code is correct as it previously worked and I can currently use the link via my browser.
I see tons of posts, here mostly, where the solution given is "add a line to the XML file."
I try that and it barks about access violation (Read Only). If I try to modify its attributes it reverts by the time the folder refreshes.
So, anyone, seriously, is there a definitive answer to whether or not it can be edited *easily* or is N2A's still the wisest choice?
Thanks!

I had the same problem. Using Total commander I was able to overwrite the file, and also found another file identical to it under mydevice/htchome. I wrote over both and all is back working with me.

After the flash to WM6.1 (the "official" ROM) I do not have an "HTC Home" or anything similarly named at all.
In WM6 I could upgrade the Home plugin to 2.1 and I could update both XML files.
There is only one XML file now in the entire device and it allows you to overwrite it at the cost of it saying "this could damage your ROM" and so forth. However, it will let you overwrite it and it merely adds entries to the "database."
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\HTCHome\Weather\Settings' "LocationCode" key is updated upon your selection in the weather options.
I have manually modified this key and can input cities that DO work (use "Location" to call it whatever I like) and see the update. Currently my weather tab reads:
"45m/N of This Sh**** Weather"
45 miles North of this... well, you get the idea.
The Region/Country/State/City code is valid. I can click the link at the AccuWeather site and get the weather for my city. I have verified that the Weather plugin is working for other cities.
Did AccuWeather change the URL that serves smaller cities?
I guess I should ask someone if they can teach me how to take the newest HTCHome.dll and cook it into one that has my city by default. Or the customized URL and/or data that will get my city displayed again.
Sorry for the ramble/rant.

I'm not sure whats going on, but I did have to have a new htchome for my updated rom. Check this out
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=25019&highlight=new+rom+tabs+problem
Post #13.
I installed this and HHC Home customizer,
added new lines to the .xml file,
Once I had the files the way I wanted I put the file in the root of my storage card and used total commander to move the weather.xml file to windows.
It asked if I wanted to overwrite and I chose yes, worked like a charm. I have to use HHC Customizer custom weather for the weather hack to work, but all is going well so far. Hope this helps.

[Updated November 09] Route Tracker

Route Tracker
With Route Tracker you can create routes and add several route points containing text and/or images from your current position. If gps is available it will take the current longitude, latitude and altitude. Without a gps module information of the current cell id and the location area code are saved.
For each route a report can be created which can be saved as a html file.
prerequisites:
PocketPC with .net compact framework 2.0 and SQL Compact Server 2005 (already installed in WM6 professional)
(tested on a WM6 professional device without gps)
known issues:
after uninstall the db and the images will not be deleted
getting MyLocation can time out
timer greater than ~15 seconds doesn't word when device is in suspend mode
in the view form only the map type for default route maps is working
next features:
automatic point adding by distance (every x meters)
more robust MyLocation
geo game (show taken image and try to find the place on the map)
Any comments are appreciated.
version 1.0.5
new view showing the whole route in one image using Google Maps (markers or path)
this view can be saved to an image file
check its settings form for parameters
version 1.0.4
new setting: Use Google's MyLocation for report GMaps and for exporting to kml. On devices without gps the cell id information will be used to get an approximate location. (default on and will use internet connection!)
version 1.0.3
new report "GMaps" using google maps (will try to use internet connection!)
updated date set to last saved route point
additional setting: Flash on Saving (flash on main screen)
version 1.0.2
additional settings: check gps, vibrate on saving
saving settings: seconds, minutes and vibrate on saving
show time with date in the grid
version 1.0.1
A report can be saved to kml for viewing in google maps.
In Menu/Auto Report... timed saving can be activated.
Thanks,
heliosdev
Anybody tried?
Would be interesting to know if the gps information gets stored and if there are any issues on devices with qwerty hardware keyboard (regarding screen rotation).
Thanks!
New version is up. If you have difficulties with the gps data, try to start gps with another app and after having enough sat fixes try Route Tracker.
Nice now this app work, but here some ideas:
A Sign that shows a record was made
Start Time on the main screen
Show Cell ID or GPS is used
Other Ideas will follow
Thanks for the input! New version is up.
very cool! i will be certainly using it.

It works on my Diamond without any problem.
Great but here some Ideas:
Show the last position time in the grid (Last position time saved at
Vibrate is good, but better would it if you make a flashing dot on the main screen because if you use it in a carholder its not so go.
(Or you can add vibrate too under settings)
And Upload direct the cab file, its easier to use!
Thx and work on!
didn't work on my vogue - got a net framework error.
@all
thanks for your input!

what is the error message saying? Can you go to menu/settings and press the 'Check GPS' button?

Well, it looks like sql is not installed on your device! I've seen cooked roms which removed this to save some space...
What .net version do you have installed? (run /Windows/cgacutil.exe)

I'm using the ppckitchen to cook a custom rom and have included both sql, 3.5 supposed to be included and I also select .netcf 2. Maybe that's a problem, but I've not ever gotten that message with any of the other programs I use that require .netcf. When I run /Windows/cgacutil.exe it says 2.0.7045.0
Will this work with .NET 3.5 or only 2.0?
I get this error using the ROM in my sig and SQLce 3.5 added.
Code:
An unexpected error has occurred in RouteTracker.exe.
Select Quit and then restart this program, or select Details for more information.

Here a new Idea
Make a Today Plugin that shows CELL ID, LAC, MCC, MNC or GPS and a count down. It shows new recorde made in xx.xx.xx (ex. 00:00:10 = 10 sek.)
Well, I'm using C# .net and I'm not sure if this can be used for today plugin development.
Btw, new version is up!
new version is up!
Tests with devices without gps are appreciated! (internet connection needed)
(report GMaps and save report (in Report form) to kml and view it with google maps/earth on desktop)
Nice,
works fine!
But can you set a dot on mylocation?
Like here http://cellid.schlapa.net
Also show the cellID data on the Gmaps Screen.
Thx wait for next versions ...
Dtrieb
Hi thanks for this app!!!!
Is it possible to get bigger screen shots ?
Thanks dude

My iGo8 experience and config

** Don't ask/pm me for files or where to d/l **
Since someone PM me for iGO 8 config, I just share my exp & config in case anyone find it useful.
**TTS is very sensitive to Virtual Memory. (Please noted it's not the available memory you see at Settings > memory. So you may see 90mb+ available memory there but still not able to get TTS) and resource at IGO "startup" time (but doesn't matter after it started and working).
1. Make sure the rom use the slots wisely and give you enough VM (22mb+), U should ask your cook for detail.
2. Make sure you don't have **** load of craps at startup (/Windows/startup. HKLM/init, HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\BootLauncher, etc)
3. Make a full backup and disable unnecessary services/devices with Dotfred task manager. Personally, I don't need USSD, IPV6, Ipsec, ...etc)
4. Soft-reset maybe a good idea if you already run X1 for a long time.
5. "No Today Plugin" w/ AE Button Plus is very handy to deactivate/activate TF3D and free up some resource. There are mortscript to automate this in some thread.
My Steps:
1. optional: start BT and connect your A2DP audio system (JVC BT-1 in my case) in case you want the TTS and phone call goes to yr audio system.
2. run Igo8
3. After Igo8 is started and TTS is working. Minimize Igo8 by "End Call" button. Then start your fav music program (Core Player 1.24 in my case).
4. run Igo8 again to bring up iGO8 from minimize. And my music play (Play/pause/FF/RW) is controlled by AVRCP
My current config: X1i/a running my custom 3.2Full ML rom
iGO8: 8.3.2.90500(PNA version, the ONLY version works for both PDA contact and TTS).
Skin: Trimmed (since I don't need squared screen suppport) & modified (laneinfo_signpost.ini for bigger freeway sign post) v10 from LZF.
My sys.txt
Code:

[tts]
;tts_buffer=65536 ; this could be important for preventing voice interruption
priority="HIGH"
Thanks for sharing this, I can do it myself but I'm sure it helps a lot of people.
However I'm concerned about the eprformance, so here are two suggestions:
1) set this
Code:
enable_3D_buildings=0
instead of enable_3D_buildings=1 , to disable 3d buildings since it's slow.
2) use speedbooster 2.0, and increase the priority of iGo8.exe . It seems to load maps and search faster and the interface drawing is smoother.

HOW-TO: iGO8 on TP2 with TTS and Imported Contact POI's

In order to have both TTS and Contact POI's working in iGO8 you're going to need two different versions of iGO8.
FIRST VERSION NEEDED: iGO8 v8.32.64029 (Nov 7 2008)
This version is designed for the PDA, and as such is able to geocode contact information. Install this version with the attached 64029sys.txt
At this point if everything is done correctly, iGO8 should boot normally BUT be VERY slow and unresponsive. This is GOOD! This is iGO8 Geocoding your contacts. Depending on the quantity of contacts with addresses you have, this could take a VERY long time. When it is done you will get a message similar to the following:
Geocoding finished with errors. 38 of 110 addresses found, 72 failed. Do you want to see the details?
At this point you could see the details of the errors, which will show you all of the addresses that are not entered into Outlook in a iGO8 palatable way. You could just ignore them and be happy with what you have (unlikely), or go back into Outlook, correct the formatting errors, and try again (and continue your suffering).
This can be VERY tedious... iGO is one picky bastard. You might even have to input the addresses into iGO as destinations, see how iGO formats the addresses, and then change the Outlook contacts to match the format iGO uses for a particular address.
I have even heard that contact need to be deleted and reentered into Outlook in the proper iGO8 fashion or you will continue to get errors for particular contacts.
SYNTAX ADVICE:
not Blvd. --> Blvd (The little "." will throw an error every time)
not Blvd --> Boulevard ("Usually" iGO dislikes abbreviations)
not N. --> N --> North (This is hit or miss)
NEVER use apt# (just give up and don't try)
NO Suite # (same as above)
If you have to have apt or suite #'s AND you want iGO to geocode, then the only way to get it both ways is to use the "OTHER" address in Outlook to place the iGO friendly address and the correct address in the "Business" or "Home" Outlook address. The ones with apt or suite # will error, but the second addresses in the "Other" address without the apt or suite # will geocode as POI's fine.
When you are done, you will be left with this little piece of GOLD... YOUR CONTACT POI's FILE ! ! !
\iGO8\save\gccache.dat
You'll want to back this file up somewhere else for safe keeping. We don't want all this hard work to go to waste.
SECOND VERSION NEEDED: iGO8_v8.3.4.102680 (Aug 13 2009)
This is the newest PNA version that does not have the ability to geopcode contact POI's, but it is able to read the gccache.dat file created by the PDA version above AND it is capable of TTS. Install this version with the attached 102680sys.txt
You will need to install this version and simply place the gccache.dat into the iGO/save folder and iGO will do the rest for you.
Now getting iGO8 to reliably run TTS is a different story. TTS requires ALOT of RAM to run. If there is not enough RAM available (~115-120mb), then it will simply refuse to play TTS voice prompts and you will be stuck with standard voice prompts. To free up a good chunk of the necessary RAM install both NOPushInternet_v2.cab and SSK TP2 Dynamic Resource Proxy.cab. To get the rest your available RAM to acceptable levels you will need to disable TF3D, run CleanRAM, and then start iGO.
Sounds complicated? Well, fortunately itsachirpthing over at PPCGeeks has created a nice little script that does just this. The original post can be found HERE. And the original thread can be found HERE. I recommend reading both these original threads. They have additional information to get iGO8 working properly on TP2.
itsachirpthing @ PPCGeeks said:
I have a custom mort script that will turn off TF3D, run CleanRam (I have custom process enabled to exit Opera and Tmail within CleanRam), then run Igo8. Once you are finished with Igo and you exit, TF3D will restart. This took some testing, but this works everytime with the high quality TTS voices. I have had no issues. I have posted the code below, this will work on your device providing that you install CleanRam to your "device" and your IGo program is listed as "\storage card\iGO8\igo8.exe". These HQ TTS voice issues baffled me for months, but now they work consistently without a soft reset.
Again this code will stop TF3D, Run CleanRam, Start Igo... then when you exit iGo it will restart TF3D.
manilastate=ProcExists("manila.exe")
If (manilastate)
Kill("biotouch.exe")
RegWriteDword ("HKLM","Software\Microsoft\Today\Items\TouchFLO 3D","Enabled",0)
RedrawToday
endif
RunWait("\program files\htcaddicts cleanram\htcaddicts_cleanram.exe")
RunWait("\storage card\iGO8\igo8.exe")
Sleep(5000)
Kill("Repllog.exe")
While ( ProcExists("igo8.exe") )
IdleTimerReset
Sleep(500)
EndWhile
If (manilastate)
RegWriteDword ("HKLM","Software\Microsoft\Today\Items\TouchFLO 3D","Enabled",1)
RedrawToday
Run("\windows\biotouch.exe")
endif
I have attached the script to run with mort script. I hope others can benfit as well. Good luck and enjoy!

Click to collapse
I have added this iGO script to the MortScript.cab posted here. You need it and CleanRAM.cab. Install both to the device, not the SD Card. Then just click on the Plain iGO Scipt icon in the Start Menu. The script will close TF3D, run CleanRAm, start iGO8, and when iGO8 is exited, it will start TF3D again
Inaddition to the above Script, you will need to install both NOPushInternet_v2.cab AND SSK TP2 Dynamic Resource Proxy.cab
in order to free up enough RAM. But with the above script, CleanRAM, and these two cabs, you should have enough RAM to run TTS of TP2. These CAB's are attached.
The sys.txt files attached are what works for my ATT TP2. It took many hours to find the correct setting for each iGO8 version and I am providing them to make your process easier. If they don't work or you get some other error for what ever reason... I AM PROVIDING NO TECH SUPPORT. This is simply information for your use.
Good Luck!
PS. This works best if you have two micro SD cards. One for each version of iGO. That way if you add new contact address, you can simply pop out one card, geocode the data, and transfer the new gccache.dat file to the other card.
PPS. Once you do get everything working in iGO 8 properly.... DO NOT MESS WITH ANYTHING ANYMORE!!! iGO8 is one finicky bastard and will throw a TTS temper tantrum (refuse to load TTS) if you do... I know ALL TOO WELL!
DONT ASK ME FOR COPIES OR WHERE TO GET THE ABOVE PROGRAMS....
BUY THEM or USE SOME CREATIVITY.... like GOOGLE!
Hi:
Thanks for the great info. I have a few questions. The Mortscript seems to run clean RAM, and disable TF3D, but then TF3D starts back up on its own. Is this normal?
Also, is the script supposed to also start iGo, or must this be done manually; script did not start iGo for me.
Thanks again!!
The script is as written above. If the location of iGO8.exe is not where the script is pointed you 'll have issues.
RunWait("\storage card\iGO8\igo8.exe")
If you do not have a iGO8.exe in the above folder, you'll need to just make a second copy of application.dat in the same folder and rename it iGO8.exe. They are the same file, just different names.
Hi:
Thanks so much for your help. You were absolutely right, my .exe was in Storage Card/Program Files.
It is working well now.
Unfortunately it didn't make TTS work for me, but I have had problems with it for a LONG time, and never been able to find a fix.
Thanks anyway for everything

Hi:
Yes I am using the above mentioned Aug 13th version, but to be honest I have had this same problem since I switches to the R3 versions. Oddly enough, I only get TTS from "Amy", which isn't even a TTS voice, but her voice is limited, and doesn't include things like street names etc... When I try to use "Susan" or "Dave" which are TTS voices, they do not work at all. I have tried a million different TTS packages, as well as sys.txt edits, and still no luck.
I have searched and searched and never been able to fix it.
But anyway, thanks so much for posting your info, I am sure it will help others.

I recommend reading the threads on PPCGeeks. You might need their recommended BRANDING.ZIP and DATA.ZIP files.
I know it is a pain in the ass... but it can work
but then again it can also stop working right after
Good Luck!
Lokmeup, thanks for the post. I found this by googling Igo8 and contacts... I'm running iGo8 (the most recent pna version) on my Imagio and of course it won't input the contacts.
I plan on following your directions but was wondering if I'll need to keep both versions available and run the PDA version every time I enter a new contact as the PNA version won't import contacts?
I miss the 'navigate to contact' from Tomtom but Tomtom doesn't seem to like the Imagio as it lags out while iGo8 runs fine.
Thanks in advance!

Thanks and DOH! Didn't see that part about the other card. The damn SD card on the Imagio is behind the back cover and the cover is a beast to remove. I'll try to keep one internal and one external and see if that works. Thanks again!
Update: iGO 8 v8.3.2.97313 (Jul 3 2009) also works for geocoding. You can have one in main memory and one on your SD card and the one in main memory will geocode for the one on the card.
Thanks again Lokmeup, you gave me back the one function iGO was missing over TT!
Not to be a nay sayer, but why in the world do you need to jump through all these hoops to get TTS to work? My TTS works fine on 102680 with Igo as installed, I'm using the Energy 6.5.1 ROM but it's worked with every ROM I've tried it on?
For all of us obsessed with flashing, a lot of chefs are adding Sense instead of just TF3D. Sense will also cause TTS not to work. I have edited the mscr to disable HTC Sense before launching igo8 (and of course renenabling it upon exiting the program)
Two versions:
One that closes Sense then launches igo
The second closes sense, runs clean ram then launces igo
Personally i hate havng to confirm the cleanup, but your choice. Either one works out for me
IMPORTANT: RENAME file extention .txt -> .mscr (xda does not permit me to upoad mscr files)

rename this file and just run it like the cab file I presume ??
Its working with the Sense file. I just went out and try it out. Would you be able to create a Sense file you created for igo mortcript and the htc addicts clean ram v1.8. ? I can see the other file as a shortcut in the start menu? Would you be able to create the same one for the sense version ?

[SOLVED] "Show Home on map" from contact card not working

Hi,
I'm trying to make work the function "Show Home on map" from the contact card but without success. After a lot a research : nothing. When i click on the "show on map" button, come an error showing "the file 'TelmapNav' cannont be opened....". I can't find this file nor the directory it should be.
Has anyone the same problem and eventually the solution.
SmAKy
The rom is the stock 1.48 (same things happened with 1.61).
SOLVED :
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\Manila]
"PeopleMapVendor"=dword:00000002 ==> Orange Map
"PeopleMapVendor"=dword:00000001 ==> Google Map
Just tried L26 custom roms (v2.1) and the problem is still there...
It's probably assuming CoPilot has been installed. Have you got CoPilot installed? Same problem when you use Footprints and try to go to the location of the footprint.
I guess it's a way of cajoling you into abandoning Tomtom and buying CoPilot. Looks like HTC have a deal going on with CoPilot's makers.
Mine works fine and puts me on google maps...have you removed or disabled google maps?
Google is activated and work with Digital compass and with Footprint not with "Show home on map".
Copilot is not installed at all, I will give it a try...but don't want to use it...
EDIT : just installed Copilot 8 live, and nothing changed, still the same error ...
I get google maps too - works fine for me.
argggggg.....
Can't even find in which directory the TelmapNav.exe should be (would try to fake it with another exe but can't without this information).
Can't find anything regarding telmapnav in registry, so sad, i'm the only one with this problem...

That exe isn't on my phone either. You must have installed something that (for whatever reason) modified how the contact-to-map link works, and that's caused the problem. Have you ever installed any other map software? Telmap Navigator, for example?
Telmap navigator isn't installed, I'v tried to install it on both devide and storage card and nothing, maybe the problem come form the manila mod i'v installed (BG4all and 20 shortcuts). I will try to find information in those new manila files...
I'm with Orange and they preinstalled telmapnav. So, on my phone contact to map also launches Telmapnav, a bit like Smaky07, just that in my case it does find the .exe. But I don't want to use this piece of crap! I want it to work with TomTom or Google maps.
I searched my registry and found some keys with telmapnav in various values, but they all seemed to be Orange specific and not contact related. So, if anyone knows how the contact application is associated with a navigation app, that would be great!
pat12 could you provide telmap installation directory, just to know if I'm able to fake sense to launch something when choosing show home on map.
Ok i've find some things. I bet this is related to orange stk auto customisation (or something like that). The TelmapNav.exe must be \Programes Files\Maps\TelmapNav.exe. I'v installed OrangeMaps and "Show Home on map" open the orange navigator.
On mine, I have it at two different locations: same as yours (\program files\...) plus in the \windows folder. I agree with you that the one used by contact is in program files especially as there is a dll that seems aptly named ContactsPlugin.dll...
Anyway, I just found out that if I use the Windows contact application (in the Outlook folder) I do have a Google Maps localisation item in the menu!
Which by the way you can also get using the HTC Contact application.
Select a contact, on the screen you will have the map icon that will use the telmapnav app but click menu -> add and display more information -> again menu -> scroll to the bottom and... Google maps!
If i rename my GoogleMaps folder to Maps and rename the exe from GoogleMaps.exe to TelmapNav.exe, "show home on map" open GoogleMaps but no information is passed and only MyLocation is shown.. Have to find how data location are passed to appli...
could someone for whom it's working seach his registry and tell us all the entries for googlemaps that seem relevant to our problem?
I think a DLL is responsible for this behavior, but I can't find which one.
I've re flashed my phone with new WWE rom and same things happened, there must be a process which customize the phone with orange "flavor"... but what process?????
SOLVED....
I have finally solved this issue.
The configuration for software launched on click on "Show home on map" is handle by a REG key :
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\Manila]
"PeopleMapVendor"=dword:00000002 => TelmapNav (Orange Map)
"PeopleMapVendor"=dword:00000001 => Google Map
I guess the default value was 1 but after each reflash, I have a script that restore some reg bakcup value and that was the problem for me.

Hi,
I'm trying to make work the function "Show Home on map" from the contact card but without success.
"PeopleMapVendor"=dword:00000002 ==> Orange Map
"PeopleMapVendor"=dword:00000001 ==> Google Map

Click to collapse
In my case, on pressing the map icon against the address in contact card, it does nothing. I do have the above mentioned registry set to "1" already.
what can be the problem?
