Hi All,
Firstly not a complaint and kudos to the many talented developers on the forum who tirelessly give their time to create the ROMs available here.
Just a question, do any of the ROMs have Bluetooth fully functioning with A2DP? I've tried quite a few now and none of them work with my carkit. Some connect but refuse to stream audio and some don't even connect to the device. Just wondering, as I've had to revert to my old 1.5 Android Hero image to be able to safely use the device in my car and I really miss 2.1
Perhaps one of the ROMs that I haven't tried using yet works? Any advice would be appreciated.
Cheers!
Also bluetooth file sending will be appreciated =)
My Bluetooth works on villain 5.2 with my Sony headunit, streaming + a2dp, only thing is, its really slow and jumpy. Every now then it'll stop playing for a few seconds and when I press the skip button on my head unit, it takes about 15 seconds to change! done the same on 1.5 as well, but don't think its headunit related as my ipod and other peoples phones are instant.
Don't know if its related, but are you on the latest radio? Even flashing it again if you are?

so it's not working. hehe
I have similar/same issues with my Motorola S9-HD headphones. Lot's of 'breaking up', pausing, ???range??? issues. Feels like when I trun my head the wrong way the connection breaks. Phone calls don't work at all. All roms have the same problem. Best so far for me was the VanillaEclair with JIT.
Hi!
At the moment I am using the "HeroDroid 0.4" Rom and testing around with Android 2.1.
Overall I like the Rom very much, but I haven't tested many ROMs.
Never tested bluetooth file transfer but I use A2DP bluetooth audio a lot (almost every day on the way to work and home) with Nokia BH-503 headset.
I notice a very annoying problem:
Bluetooth audio works perfectly, no lags, perfect sound, headset control buttons work, but almost every time after listening a while (sometimes after a few minutes, sometimes after half an hour) suddenly the audio in my headset stops. It simply goes silent.
I still can control the player (doesn't matter which one) with the headset buttons. Thje player behaves perfectly normal. I simply do not hear anything.
The only way to get it working again in this situation seems to be a reboot.
I hope the situation will improve if we finally get the original kernel and drivers from the HTC 2.1 Hero release..

Thanks for the reply. I'm using the latest radio and have flashed a few of them on different occasions so I'm pretty sure that's functioning correctly. It's an odd problem. My last experience was using the aHero v0.8 ROM (which is very good BTW) and it connects to my car kit but no audio at all, just silence. It's a pity because I'd like to use that as my everyday ROM. I haven't tried Villain yet however, perhaps I'll give it a whirl and see if I have better success there. Thanks again.
I'm having problems with Bluetooth too. My (car manufacturer built-in) carkit keeps disconnecting every 15 seconds.
The BT stack in Android 2.1 is very different from 1.5, with all kinds of new API functions. Like @androcheck mentioned, we'll probably have to wait for an official (or leaked) 2.1 Hero GSM ROM so the ROM cookers/developers can integrate the 2.1 based HTC drivers instead of the old drivers.
short update:
just caught my problem via logcat.
These seem to be the first error lines in logcat when the problem occurs:

Hi I have 2.1 BeHero on my phone. And I have found that when I first connect it to my S9 Motorola headset it randomly disconnects then reconnects. This continues for about 15-20 mins. (I know this as the phone screen doesnt switch off). Eventually it seems to settle down, the screen goes off etc, and then I'm away and can listen to music etc no prblem. Thank god for a 40 min bus journey to work
Regarding bluetooth A2DP audio (for listening music):
I switched to VillainRom 5.3 today (http://www.villainrom.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=200)
I am listening music now for about 1 hour on my headset and noticed no problems until now (no lags, not choppy, no driver issues,..) Will keep you updated here, if I notice any problems... keep finger crossed
Note: did not test any other bluetooth features (i.e. using bluetooth headset for calls, transfer files.. just testing stereo audio at the moment).
VillainRom 5.2 works fine with bluetooth headsets, I have spoke to people for 20-30 mins a time on mine while driving!!
And I can report that VillainRom 5.3 works perfectly with A2DP bluetooth stereo audio!!
I used it today for about five hours without any major problems! (some short lags once in a while, every 30 minutes or so.. but nothing serious)
Seems that they are doing good work there! Thanks a lot!

I have been listening to music for the last 30 mins or so. I am using my Anycomm stereo BT headphones and the new ROM, but quite annoyingly with my wizzard only 50 cm or so away from me, it keeps cutting out the sound. I wondered if it was anything to do with lack of memory or other programs running and using cpu so I stopped all other relevant programs, but it is still doing it.
anyone else having these probs?
PvH
I noticed same problem it looks that wizard have very weak anthena for bluetooth it looks to be worse than class b specification for that. At first i thought that it's problem of my headset but it happens for me on other ones too.
Given the extensive posting about A2DP on the Wizard, I was a little bit surprised not to find anything about this problem:
When streaming music from windows media player, the sound sometimes starts playing back slower or faster - thus changing the pitch. Sometimes as much as a step and a half (like from C to A). Clearly noticable in other words.
Now is this because of the Wizard, or the Jabra BT620s? I googled, and I found one other person complaining about something similar - but when using an iPod.
With default settings, I was getting drop-outs every 2 or three minutes...
I was able to tweak reg settings some:
A2DP\Settings\BitPool = 45 (60 sounds great, but only for a few seconds)
Drivers\BuiltIn\BtA2dpSnd\Priority256 = 60
AudioGateway\Capability = 69
I use Shogunmark's Cingular based 2.26.10.2 ROM.
Any thoughts?
Hey I'm getting the same effect with my NextLink Spider stereo bluetooth set...
Something tells me its just the processor speeding up and down, or something with the transfer to the headsets and codecs. I wanted to check whether it was VBR music files (variable bit rate) that were doing it, but since that usually only affects quality I don't think it is related.
Its obviously not a big deal, it can be kinda funny sometimes =P ... but I am curious as to why its doing that and if it can be corrected !
So basically I'm just lettin ya know you're not alone with the ipod guy!
(I have a cingular 8125, and I just switched over to a tmobile MDA (8125 is waaay to bulky), so i'll let you know if the new phone does it too!)
Good to know it also happens on the MS BT stack. This is a common problem with pre-WM5 Widcomm-based devices (see my A2DP-related articles).
Ok, so I'm not alone... Funny how that makes me feel better.
I'm still looking for a solution to all this. I guess if this is because of bandwidth limitations, it would make sense to lower the BitPool setting.
I'm going to try to dial in the best settings, by trial and error...
I sure hope MS can improve the BT stack some more.
this is to do with the buffer, when the muisic stops because of interference the wizard carryon sending the muisic to the buffer, problem is the when the interference stops the muisic track is seconds ahead of the buffer ,so the muisic is rushed out in order to receive new data.this seems to be a problem with the proccessing units in the headphone and not in the ppc itself.this also happens in aku3 roms.
yup i got the same prob... i took it that it was the headset and not the xda, the slowing down i thought was it thinking hmm im running out of music so ill slow down until i get some more so this guy can still hear something damm anoying im finding the whole bluetooth thing not worth the hastle.
All i want to be able to do now is get talk button on the wired headphones to start up the voice dial and then i can have what i want just with a wire.

Hmm, yeah that was my thought as well. It reminds me of old tape based Walkmans with bad batteries.
Does anyone know the equation behind the BitPool registry entry? At 30 vs 45, the sound quality is pretty bad, but with less pitch changes and / or dropouts. At 60 the sound is fantastic for a few seconds before the problems start. It appears that even increments of 15 (i.e. 30, 45, 60) at the time works better than numbers like 34 or 42 - it results in more conversion artifacts. I assume the BitPool settings determine Bit resolution and Sample rate...
Right now, I'm listening to internet radio at 64Kbps with no problems. So as far as I can tell the lower bit rate sources work better. Maybe also fixed bit rate over VBR.
Oh, and what is the AudioGateway\Capability number for?
With my current settings 128Kbps files play fine, but 160Kbps files do pitch change thing...
Hello, with my qtek 9000, from time to time I hear the music only half of the time (0,5s I hear, 0,5 not, and actually the uni adapt to this (the music is x2 longer)) with my ety8, and it doesn't come from thoses since I have no problem with them on another mobile and I get the same problem with other bluetooth headphones on my uni.
It doesn't come from being indoor/outdoor, near wifi or not because it's sometime doing this problem in my house and sometime not outdoor.
Soft reset does nothing, reset bluetooth on uni and my headphones once worked but it was certainlty pure chance because I tried many times then and it didn't do anything.
I hard reseted with another rom and the problem stayed the same.
Did anyone ever had this problem ? It's really wierd because when it's working, there is absolutely no problem so I can't really think that it would come from a damaged bluetooth transmitter...
try looking in Advanced Settings and change the bps transmitted etc. a fairly unnoticable lowering in quality of sound should improve the juddering.
well, reduced to 21 I still have a little pause each 5 seconds, reduced to 20 it's fine but the difference of quality is clearly noticeable.
my settings are:
Use Joint Stereo: Yes
Bitpool: 30
Max supported bitpool: 30
Min supported bitpool: 30
Sample rate: 48000 Hz
BtA2dpSnd Priority256: 0
Hope this helps
I don't have "BtA2dpSnd Priority256", though I don't think it would change anything, I'm gonna stay with this, that was a good hotfix thanks.
Wow, now, in only some days and for no reasons apparently, I must reduce it to 11.
Long time ago I let my uni just near to a wifi antena (from my freebox), actually touching it, bluetooth on but not using it at this time. Since my micro-weave detector make noise just around thoses antenas when I approach it, do you think it can have something to do with that ?
It was no problem with my Pro2 to listen to Music via bluetooth !
Now with the LEO - which is the best device which I ever had - I can use the phone over bluetooh but hear no music.
I also marked under advanced the music button
Pls help me
I have a similar problem, though not quite the same. I am actually able to connect up my BT headset, but the advance controls no longer function; only voume control. No Pause, Forwards or Backwards! (in both Coreplayer & S2P).
They clearly recognise that a signal was recieved (if i try forwarding), however the player just minimises one receipt of the signal, and upon maximising just ignores the functions.
Anyone experiencing similar issues?
I just talked to HTC - they said probably it is the wrong device (head set)...
I have the same problem.
I have a problem with using my MOTOROKR T505 Bluetooth® In-Car Speakerphone, which in my old phone (nokia e71), worked like a dream. With Leo, connects ok, butafter playing for some time, will hickup for like 7-10 seconds, then resume, play for another minute, and repeat. This seems to coincide with the phone going to sleep? ie: after the screen turns black. I am running s2u2, and when the music stops, if i press any button to wake it up, it starts playing again. As long as i keep the screen active, it plays.
Is there a setting that is making Leo to "Standy", either in s2u2 or in OS?
Does anyone have this:
(I hope I can describe this in English)
When a notification sound is played there is a big lag.
For instance when resetting you hear the default notification sound (if you checked sounds for system events anyway) I only hear half the sound.
This also happens in my satnav program (sygic).
I hear: ...ter 50 meters, etc
Instead of: after 50 meters
Just did a hard reset, but the problem persists
rom: 1.48 NLD
I have official russian HD2 with 1.48 FW. The same problem with bluetooth headset (Jabra BT530 with A2DP profile) - if i switch off it, no sound lag from builtin speaker comes.
I've just spent 2 days trying to understand WIDCOMM registry tree, but nothing. Seems, bluetooth in HD2 swithing off itself after small period of time - on new sound event it is powering up and connecting to my headset. Some part of sound, as described above, is lost. Navi soft cant be used this way at all.
