Hi all,
I've noticed that there is a script embedded in the FpseCE (PSX emulator for WM) forums which redirects visitors to either rogue anti virus search results (bing page) or a fake 'your system is infected' script. This sets a cookie which means it won't show up for another 20 days. Both Firefox and IE is affected.
I assume some of the crew behind this emulator are on here or someone knows them, so would someone be able to pass along the message? If you want to know what I'm talking about, go to http://www.fpsece.net/forum2/ or any page on the forums. You may need to clear your cookies! Once it's viewed, you won't see it again from that page. Remember, it's a scam so for gods sake don't click 'Ok' to anything! Ctrl+Alt+Del to close Firefox if needs be.

Edit: Little more info - the rogue script is available on every page on the forum which suggests it's probably lurking in a header somewhere on the page. The main site is unaffected.
The fake rogue scam anti-virus page (hello Google!) is hxxp://gescansecurity.org (with a referral link at the end). This page also redirects to Bing results for 'freeantivirus'
I don't like seeing scammers attempting to take advantage of anyone, let alone XDA, so hope this can get fixed asap!

Hey I'm new to this forum (as shown in my post count).
What programs do you use on your Hermes?
Small problems I would like to fix are:
-A little speed boost. I feel like it lags behind sometimes
-Programmable sms tones. I dont just want to use those 1-2 second long sounds.
-A good free multi-chat program. For example, AIM, ICQ, GoogleTalk, Msn, Yahoo... all at the same time. Personally I found AgileMessenger to be quite nice, but it costs 45 bucks to buy... i may resort to that though.
Actually onw last thing i would like and wondering if it is even possible, probably only by some awesome hacker. I want a program that gives me the passkeys of locked wifi networks, are there any of those available?
I have more questions about t-mobile but ill start a different thread.
This site is a support forum for xda enthusiasts. using this site, you will find lots of tweaks for your phone, OS upgrades, fixes, etc. but we do not condon anything illegal here. That means even if some hacker finds a way how to do something that is illegal, the moderators will immediately delete it. That also applys for cracked programs, etc. Im not accusing you of anything, but since you are new here I just wanted to give you a quik breifing on what we are and are not about.
Also, before you post any questions, or screw up your phone, make sure you do lots of reading and searching (search bar at top right), there is also a google search tool for this site in the other section.

Thank you for the warning, Im not a computer noob, but new to the wm phone world. I'd be sure on reading up before installing anything.
Well then the same questions are still up... I never said I wouldnt pay for these programs but if the freeware is just as good, why not?

This forum has a lot of information and a lot of input and applications and downloads. I recently started coming here a few weeks ago and little by little have gotten through quite a few threads and downloaded some amazing stuff. However, it's been difficult at best and quite slow and tedious and I know there is still lots of stuff I'm missing.
What I was thinking is how it would be great if we had one unified post that summarized and organized some of the most popular applications that are available here. Something like:
Best Music Players
--HTC Audio manager
--Mort Player
--etc.
Best Browser
--Opera Mini
--Picsel
--Skyfire
--etc.
Best locking program
--S2U2
--etc.
and so on, with the download links next to them. This would make referencing certain applications easy to find and download for all from various threads. With a few people in charge to moderate the thread, updates could easily be done as people post as they arrive or to alert others and then subsequently deleted.
I'm not sure if this has been brought up or attempted before, but I wanted to throw it out there. Please feel free to close or lock this thread if necesssary mods.
I would also add that some polls could be set up initially to identify some of these key applications to set up a "standard" list of applications that most users here should at least be familiar with and/or have on their devices.

Thank you. That's exactly the type of format I'm looking for. I didn't want everyone to just come and start posting their favorite programs but instead to have ONE post that combined them all. I just don't know enough of them and haven't been around long enough to even begin to compile it.
That wiki page looks great. I just hope someone that has a little time and the desire to do this could pull it off. I just don't have either nor the knowledge to put out something that would be helpful. Thanks for the reply.

Being ignorant on the possibilities of WM6 and unable to find anything on the topic - would it be possible to run SPB Mobile shell like normal app, I mean without being full screen? Would it be possible for other apps as well?

But, to answer your question: if a application is fullscreen or not(=today Plugin)depends on the application himself, so your answer is: is it a today plugin or not or does it have this function in its settings ? I think mobile shell does not. Some fullscreen apps like thumbcal can use the windows taskbar also. Look in Settings of your app, thats it.

its not that theres a limit or anything, we just don't like seeing erroneous threads. Once you become a senior member you become afflicted with a terrible case of OCD. Duh.
Besides, many of us regularly check the major threads (SPB MS being one of them), so your question probably will be answered.

the rules ar simple: if you have a question for mobile shell, post i there. This is better for you and just logical. So i really cant understand all this threads here starting with "i found something", "i have a question on mobile shell", "how can i make... with application ...". Often there are allready threads, the junior members did not google or did not use the search function of this side and so on.
So its funny that you write you cant find anything here because the reason why this side is too big: 80 Percent sensless threads from beginners. Sad but true.
So they now made a extra thread for beginners (its on Nr. 1!): Effect: NOTHING
I know somtimes its hard for beginning with windows mobile and so on, but when i started, i first read the instruction manual of my device. Look at that: someone opens a thread on a developers page because he is unable to use/find standard windows mobile functions:

OK, I get Your point. But wouldn't it be easier then to reorganize the threads so that everything up to here will be archive and from now on irrelevant, stupid, duplicate and pointless threads get deleted and there would be separate sections for each popular application (SPB MS, UL etc etc).

If you want to use it without full screen just use their today plugin..but of course won't have nice effect like the common one

Hello everyone. I am a second year electronics student and am now working for my General Radiotelephone Operator License (GROL). I am looking at having to memorize the answers to just under 700 questions. Its rather tough lol. The reason I am here is simple. I have searched and searched and have not found any software for my touch pro that will help me study for this test. I don't know how to write programs but I know that many of you out there do a phenomenal job. I am looking for someone that would write a program for me that would quiz me on all the questions for the GROL. In fact I believe that if one where interested in making a few dollars he or she could go all out and make a program that creates a full exam from the test question pool, then watches which ones the user gets wrong and makes sure to ask them more often. It would also be cool if a pop up window came up explaining the proper answer. I also think it would be nice to have a screen at the end showing results. I know at first this seams daunting but I do have software that came with my book that is close to this and could send you a copy. Also, the entire question pool is listed on the fcc website. It wont let me post the link here but if you contact me by email i can find it for you.
The GROL only requires sections 1 and 3. The only other program similar was marked at $40.00 and for the pc. Nothing has been found for the PPC where it makes the most sense. During random downtimes a person can do a few random questions here and there. I believe that if made to look nice with a nice touch style interface someone could post this to windows marketplace and sell it for $20.00 easily and make some nice cash on it. I would learn to program and do it myself if it weren't for the fact that I am in class now and need it ASAP.

It's not exactly what you said, but maybe you can use SuperMemo UX & SuperMemo Mobile. It's free software, but you will need to build your own course.

I know this is an older post. And I knkw what you mean, and are talking about. I am changing career fields into Avionics, and a classmate has an app for his (cry)Phone. But in the Google Play Store, they have some, but they are expensive for what it is ($19.99 and $12.99). I can't find anything except crApple. Absolutely no Android. I can't even find anything where someone ported the CD that is in the book over to Android and other platforms. I have coppied the files from the CD to a folder on my computer called "GROL." So I didn't have to have the CD in my computer the whole time. I'm going to graduate at the end of this month, and I only have Element 1 done. Partly its my own fault for waiting until now. But either way, I'll have 3 & 8 done. But it would be nice if I could take the studying with me when I have life going on and not by my computer. Lol
