Desktop Dock - HD2 General

Anyone got an idea on where to get decent TMOUS HD2 computer docks, one with a charger. Google apparently thinks dock =/= silicone cases. I saw one in the task29 tutorial video..

I've seen several, while searching for cases. You'll just want to google "T-mobile HD2 desktop cradle"
Have a peek at THIS thread too, others have been discussing the same

Thanks, should searched here before Google, mods, please close.

Where can we find this "stereo desktop music player"

http://www.4ustuff.com/info.php?itno=2051
this would be Awesome. I could then use this as my stereo/alarmclock for my bedroom.............any ideas, I've looked everywhere and trie to email this company. Never received a reply.
Looks like a cool item. I did a Google search and saw that the iKross.com website is suspended.
Most likely it will surface from one or more of the normal retailers shortly... Looks Cool!
Bump! Just wanted to bring this back up, hopefully someone knows where we can purchase it.
i have seen it on here but it might be the same company
http://www.cradle-kingdom.co.uk/products.asp?id=1005
Any word on this item? I've searched, but no luck. Looks very cool, I'd for sure buy one.
Thanks tomcat777
I like this thread tomcat777 so thanks for finding out about the "stereo desktop music player" unit.
....I don't know if I am alone in this, (I imagine I'm not?) but any how I have sent off an inquiry as to going about obtaining a number of the units for myself and any other Kaiser owners interested. I will keep the thread up to date with any details I receive.
The design itself looks great and would be an asset to any desktop.
Could it be possible for the KAISER to be synced and or recharged whilst actively connected to the "stereo desktop music player"
... F-a-N-t-a-S-t-i-Q!!!
Nicholas Endean OBE
That does look pretty cool!
Strange. When I enquired about purchasing multiple units I received a response that they were out of stock at the moment. Why would they be out of stock if no merchant stocks or sells them. Vaporware?
I would advise against any cradles connecting to the mini-USB connector. They are very fragile, and breaking them quite catastrophic.

What are you talking about? I have this exact same one, but for my Dash/Excalibur and it works great! The sound quality is not bad at all either. Now if this was publicly available for the Tilt/Kaiser....

HD2 TV-OUT

http://pocketnow.com/software-1/touchflo-3d-25-build-1920-tour
I was watching the video and saw the TV-OUT option at 5:49 onward. I wonder what that implies, but I'm sure someone on here knows. Also, the wireless tether or mifi option is kickass.
That's not the HD2 in the video - its the Touch Pro 2.
@robertlewisca : exactly - but isnt it a Leo ROM?
if it is a rhodium rom its understandable...
Miri, the ROM cook, has confirmed that is from the TP2, and that the Leo ROM contained no TV out packages.

so okay, no tv-out out of the box.. but.. what about the micro-usb. it is capable of more functionality than the ordinary mini usb, right? maybe in the future some company is delivering us tv-out trhough micro-usb. I don't really see the point of it actually, since the screen so huge, it can be seen from across the street.

Maybe you live in a Candy world on the superduper lollipop street.
NO TV OUT.
end of history, we have see this even in the TYTN II and people saying "BUT BUT SOMEONE WILL BRING IT TO US"
No. nobody will bring tv-out on HD2 to us, If you dont like or you can't accept it, buy other device, because HD2 will never have TV-out.

Without trying you never know.
TP2, no FM-Radio. Someone tried, and yes! It had FM-Radio but not enabled out of the box!

They've got 10 of these on a wall near my house. It's considered the local multiplex!
TV-out, yes
The Norwegian HTC tells that the HD2 have TV-out, but only by using an optional special TV-out cable normally not in the box.
I have been looking for more info onthis, but I can notfind it.
This ws reported on sme of the Norwegian teckno webs.
B3ler3fonte did you have some info about this?
There is no room for TV-out in the micro-USB connector. There is not even room for audio out. All audio, in and out, must go through the 3.5 jack, which does have four pins. Therefore, it is scientifically possible for one of these pins to play double duty, running TV-out through the microphone pin. However, these would require a pure software solution, as merely plugging in a TV-out cable cannot tell the HD2 to turn it on as it did for all previous HTC products with TV-out.
Therefore, unless the TV-out hardware was a free install, such as a function of the processor that all you must do to use it is not disable it, then TV-out is unlikely.
no room for audio on micro-usb?? Check Nokia HS-82 and Motorola S280 or Samsung microUSB headsets and think again!!
MAybe it does
http://www.mobiletechworld.com/2009/09/18/the-htc-leo-has-a-digital-compass-and-tv-out/
This site says the original Leo (HD2) has tv out and digital compass and was hoping it would be enabled on retail so maybe a chance with these wonderful rom builders out here.
once again XDA, will be making things work how they should in the first place !
I hope someone can make this work, but rumors have it the hardware is not there.
Update: i searched in the registry and some things did came up like:
HKLM\\Drivers\Display\TV
HKLM\\Drivers\Display\TV\PanelDLL
HKLM\\Software\HTC\H2W\TVOutCableIn
Not sure if those mean anything.

I wonder... HKLM\\Software\HTC\H2W\TVOutCableIn is set to 0.
It seems there are other HTC phones which do not have tv-out enabled by default but with an Iphone tv-out cable and a converter it should be possible to enable tv-out with a simple cab file with those devices.
Check it out here!
Would this be doable for the HD2?? I do not have a converter, but I do have a Nokia n96 tv-out cable at home. I will try it when I come home. Otherwise is there someone with a micro usb to mini usb adapter and a htc connector adapter and a Iphone tv-out cable willing to try?? Here you can download the cab file.
I always thought that if it was latent on the device it would be supported via the 3.5mm jack ... not the MicroUSB. Most devices like the iPod, N95 etc use the 3.5m jack.
The other interesting thing was that the supplied headphones came with 3 black rings which normally indicates AV rather than just audio.
Would be great for someone to see if it is latent ... the thought of having similar devices such as the TP2 and HD .... one having TV-Out and other not ... always felt artificial to me .... fingers crossed.
Paul.
In the link, it is mentioned that this setup does not work with HD, so it may not be an option on the HD2 as well.

But the HD has a different chipset/cpu than HD2 and the registry entry is there... as soon as I get home I will stuff my N96 tv-out cable in there and hope for the best

Does anyone know where we can get spares for the HD2 yet? I ask because a hard case I bought for my HD2 ended up scratching the sides of the housing. At some point I'd like to replace the housing as it's the only part of the handset with any marks on it. I'd also like to replace the speaker if possible when a confirmed, crackle-free one is on the spares market.
DC
Someone needs to grab those videos before HTC get youtube to pull them.
I'd do it but I'm not sure how!
First off, the disassembly looks like a painful process especially the bit where you need to get an oven involved.
I can't even get a screen protector on properly!

You can use Orbit downloader Grab++ to get pretty much any video from anywhere

Cheers for the info.
I wonder if there's a drill within HTC to train the speed of the assembly and disassembly process, like how we do it in military for assemble/disassemble weapons

This might not be the answer your looking for but i'll give it a shot anyway. There is this that charges your N1 and your spare battery.

Well its half of what google is charging for their dock (obviously). I have read a ton of reviews on both devices and you can't go wrong with either one. One pro is that it has a much bigger lip to hold your phone in. One con is that you can't hook it up to a speaker system like the google one can, at least thats what i've been told. I'm ordering the google dock later this week but if I was in your situation, i'd probably go with the one on ebay. I hope this helps.

Yeah the google dock only charges the battery in your phone. Judging by your second statement, the non-google charger is the way to go. Let us know how it works out for you, i've heard nothing but good things about it.

Usb thumbdrive plugged into buttom of Hero

I'm just getting around to posting this so first I searched this forum and a couple others. I haven't been on the forums in a few weeks so I was sure it was buried somewhere. I then did a Google search on it as well and found nothing. This has to have been brought up though.
We all know Chloe is using the HTC Hero on 24. The rest of the cast seems to be using the Palm Pre which I love just as much. However this past Monday's episode did everyone notice Chloe plug the thumb drive into the bottom of the guys Hero to copy his information and then give him back his phone while pocketing the thumb drive?

Im guessing we could also project with out cameras one of those fancy in air GUI's used on CSI.
Its a tv show.
Oh I'm sure its not accurate, its all meant to be entertaining and I'm sure they don't expect the casual viewer to really question a small clip like that. Most times you'll notice when there talking on the phone that the screens are on something entirely different. Last season Jack used the Instinct and it would ring and he would answer but it was still the home screen. I was mostly just surprised I couldn't find anyone else saying "Did you see that!"

Ah I gotcha, yeah I actually dont watch 24 and never have but happen to watch a few minutes and see the scene you were originally talking bout.
just speculating on possibilities here.
It is possible but not probable
They could have used one of these and coupled it with a micro drive of some kind.
Now the question that arises is: Is the OS capable of mounting this as a partition and writing or reading from it....yes...it probably is...but it would take some kernel level code work to get it to work....
What ever government agency it is that 24 is based around has the knowledge on hand to do this.
If a silly post like mine could actually turn into someone skilled enough to mount a USB drive to the bottom then hey awesome. Hopefully it says "Thanks to Chloe, 24 and Jynx" lol.
this is off topic, but have you ever tried plugging your hero into your computer then using the "boot from usb" BIOS option? your computer will show the "htc" screen. the android kernel has all the drivers for usb/cdrom/hdd keyboards mice blah blah.... you need to compile the drivers for a external usb drive (i think some people are working on this) but then you could totally use a external usb drive on your hero. maybe for torrents?? maybe for????
