Hi guys , wondering if your expert knowledge of android can help me.
had my hero for a few weeks now and have now managed to root it , came with stock orange ROM but now using Modaco 3.2 , might flash back when official update comes out.
anyways my HTC can't seem to find my 4.5 of music on my memory card. whilst third party players do!
were exactly should my music be situated on my memory card.
please guys can someone help me as I got to travel 2 hours on the train everyday , and music is what keeps me sane lol.
look forward to your advice ,
Chris.

I keep all my music in a folder called "music" (imaginative, i know!) in the root of my SDcard
have tried that, how long should it take to find them on first start us then , am I just not letting the phone have enough time to locate them.

Im not sure to be honest. It works pretty quick for me... what file type are your music files?
supported file types are: MP3, AAC(AAC, AAC+, AAC-LC), AMR-NB, WAV, MIDI and Windows Media® Audio 9
@OP: It really depends on how much music you have on your SD card. Obviously the phone will scan through one mp3 faster than it will scan through one thousand. The SD card itself matters too. A Class 6 card will be much faster than a Class 2 card.
I've got a Class 6, 16GB card with about 10-11GB of music on it. It's been a while since I first loaded it up in the Music app, but I seem to recall it took quite a while to scan through the whole library. I couldn't tell you exactly how long as I seem to remember I started listening to music before it was done scanning the whole library.
EDIT: nvm
hmmm ok, well have tried that a few times's ,
maybe I should just let it do its thing.
doing my head in a bit though to be honest as I use the music app every morning.

well what pleasant surprise , just been to my music player and its all there.
now I am a happy camper indeed
all is well.
and thanks for the advice.

I think what we must do a census of the HD2 do have the problem with the HTC Audio Manager, that if these are 100% of the HD2 and equally disturbing to me is that the issue of accommodation of pink.
Email HTC also explain the problem you are reading that if you make sure that passes the test well.
If so (I'm pretty sure that if) a list of users to send and email affected HTC to see the answer or at least taken into account in its next revision of the ROM or do a patch, as it did with the camera.
This is the mail I sent:
"Hello, I noticed that the Audio Manager is not working as it should be on the HD2, and I've had the HTC Touch Cruise, HTC Touch Pro, HTC HD2 and now, with previous others, listen to music with audio player HTC Audio Manager and activate, then put the device into the suspended and everything went perfectly on the show is not working for the HD2 HTC, which has only the effect of the first song on the album Audio Manager, Track, composition changes manually (control) or end of a song and start over Manger Sound stops working and even when returning to the Audio Manager box is checked this not work.
I request a search a solution to the problem, tried to soft reset and hard reset and the problem persists even with the 1.48 ROM update is on the page.
I look forward to hearing this regard, since it is a very expensive and I hope it works correctly, as the other devices are also very expensive, but everything works fine, there are several devices with the same problem on XDA, HTCMANIA and TodoPocketPC Other Pages of which I am member.
A greeting "
The way to verify that the problem is to make a game with headphones albun track with sheet music in the menu Manila Enables audio sample manager and a great improvement in the sound of R & B or Rock ie, each to your liking, then change the shutdown screen (obviously, the music still works, it makes no sense to go with the music screen with HD2 in your pocket, right?) and the song just have to change the HD2 Series O command wait until the end of this problem and start the next, it automatically disables the Audio Manager, which is the decision reopoto HTC.
So if you see that you have the problem (I'll bet that if 100% of all owners of the HD2) the census that can be a good pressure to resolve as soon as possible.
A greeting and thanks for participating in "collective slap on the wrist HTC" if you have trouble
The more you have this problem or we're on the list mayoir pressure to settle it soon.
Mention also would be nice nick buestro with ROM version is ..

¿?¿?
did not think this a topic to discuss?
I guess that HTC knows how to do things better and they can fix the bug of Audio Manager.
And another thing, I is not better without google translation.
NO Audio Manager Error
Audio manager does NOT have a bug. It seems people do not take their time to figure somethings out for theirselfs, so let me do it for you.
step one
Connect your HTC HD2 to your computer
Active sync started? nice
step two
Start up Windows Media Player
You see the nice tab Synchronise?
Click on it
Now you need to choose the option Storage Card so that WMP knows where to sync the songs you want on your HTC HD 2
Step 3
Dragg the albums you want to the right side of WMP (WMP also guids you where) and click on sync. and the songs you want will play on your HTC HD 2 without the Audi Manager Error
Say thank you!
lol

But that doesn't work.
@OT: I've emailed HTC about it too and the reply i got was that they will inform the dev team about it... this was a month ago =/
It takes some time for the HD2 to index what is on the card.
I normally go to the music tab and attempt to open the library then exit it.
Then I give it a couple of minutes to do its thing.
You should see a spinning circle icon in the top left corner while it's searching for new music and indexing everything.
Obviously the more music you have, the longer it will take to index it.
You will have to do this everytime you replace the SD card and everytime you reboot.
This has fixed the issue for me, if there is an easier or quicker way I'd love to know.

This phone is half product.
I also have a problem playing music with HTC Sense player.
The only thing that worked is that all mp3 files MUST have tags inputed!
Also it works only with 10 albums max...when i upload one more...CRASH!
But if only this is the only problem. The Windows Market Place had to be reinstalled to work. SMS problems - had to install SMS FIX....and so on!
if only people would write THAT in their reviews! I would never buy this phone and spend 450€ if I knew that I would have to repair it - to use it!
And THERE IS NO UPDATING directly from the phone! That's just stupid!
I have WindowsM that has to be connected to WindowsPC to update the WindowsM! What is the point. Why not update directly?
I'm totally dissapointed in my phone, WM and HTC!

You've never downloaded any updates or patches for any Windows, Linux, OSX installations?
Or downloaded patches or updates for any games or office software you've ever used?
Please, get real and get over it.
If your MP3s don't have tags, you'd lose half the features of the player anyway, you wouldn't have the album art, the artist or song title displayed?
Gday Blackyy777,
Sorry mate, but id have to disagree with you there. I purchased my Htc hd2 a while ago, and use the standard winmo device centre to load music/files etc. It take you to the standard windows media player, and clicking on sync as you described works fine.. All music gets synced (ok), all shows perfectly on the sd card (cool). But the problem starts when you open the music tab on the HD2. It takes around 4 mins to show all your music (not a problem as i have around 10gb of music on my sd card), but when you click on the album and press play, it plays the said track for around 2 mins, then crashes.. and comes up with Audio manager error..?? I have checked all the mp3 files that i am copying across, and none of them are corrupt, i cannot seem to play any of the music fully. Very bizarre... And i have googled this problem, and it seems alot of people have the same issue. Do you know something we dont..lol...???
Oh, things i have tried to rectify this problem already..
1. Format sd card
2. Change format of music files instead of mp3 to wma
Can you help..??
hehe Im with u. Couldnt understand anything!!!
hi
dear all
In htc hd2 Music player shuffle is not working properly. due to following reason
since htc hd2 quite brillant (but they are very silent). when they copy from iphone (concept) they didn't copied properly.
1. shuffle will not work properly
due to following reason
1. it will start all the album first (unknown album)
2. it will start all album in start with alphabet (a)
3. repeated Shuffle Will be working
4. i have 4000 mp3 songs i know what will be my next song even it shuffle.
becuase shuffle plays same repeated mp3 songs.
5. even all the songs are properly mp3 tag with mp3 editor and saved it is same
6. all mp3 should be copied under music folder.
7. shuffle mode work when u keep the phone horizontal (Landscape mode)
solution
1. from google search
open the htc hd2 backcover. remove the storage card and insert it it will work.
once again same set of shuffle songs
2. copy the audiomanager from windows folder and pase as short cut in the startup it will works some time.
but htc hd2 they are not brillant end of the day they are silent.
in fact i like htc hd2. but due this i hate use the htc hd2. all my friends made a fund that. htc hd2 music repeated player use less.
thanks
R.Nagarajan
Used to work fine but over the weekend my phone started crashing whenever i went to music tab. have scince done several har resets and tryed different rom flashes. no longer crashes but wont find the music.
currently useing miri-dinik (anastacia) rom, and and sandisk 32gb class 4 card.
Sense player origonaly found the music when rom first flashed last night but after a couple of hours stoped working. Windows media player still finds it all and plays it no problem.
can anybody help.
Correction!
have just realised sense player done find them in all songs tab but will not display anything under the artist album or genres tab
Please help i have a lot of music so browsing all 25gb by song title only is hell.
I found this on the HD2 and HD Mini when moving from a 16Gb to 32Gb MicroSD card; I suspect it's a problem with not being able to read data from the card quickly enough, and will required a ROM patch/update.
Same thing here, music stops after a few seconds and music player in landscape will give me a 'no music found' error.
I can see my music in the all songs tab, but in the albums tab I see none.
I tried 3 different ROMs Artemis, energy and for now Cleanex, all with the same error.
I tried formatting the SD-card (16GB) and sync all my songs with WMP, this did the trick for about 5 minutes
Really frustrating because music player is the app I use the most.
where are y'all finding 32gb micro sd's??? (legit ones)
I'm having this exact same problem. Normaly the musicplayer would always load the songs but now it just can't organise it anymore. I can view all my songs on the all songs tab though, but I like to listen to albums, so this is not an option for me, neither a different player, because I actually liked this one till it gave me this problem.
What I found out:
- The player will work again when you perform an hard-reset, but when you're doing your first soft-reset, the musicplayer stops working and is unable to organise the songs.
- After a hard-reset, your also not supposed to take out your SD-card, because you will get the same problem again.
- The player also starts working again if you delete \Application Data\HTC\AudioManager_Eng\Audiomanger_Eng.vol, but after one single soft-reset it will stop working.
Does anybody have a solution to this problem? I also tried to format my SD-card, but it gave me the same problem. The music player always worked for me, till now. I would really appreciate help.
P.S. Sorry for any grammar or spell faults, I'm dutch.
I had the same problem and solved it by formating my SD card and copy all contens back to the SD card. After a soft reset of the Phone it could find the music and play without stopping again.
Unfortunately it didn't work for me. Any other solutions?
The only original SanDisk 32 GB mSD is CLASS 2 ! There is no CLASS 4
Maybe You got faked mSDs ?
No mine is from Kingston and it is Class 2 and it's 16 GB. Like I said it always worked till now.
Sorry for the double post, but I just really want my musicplayer working again, it's one of the main reasons I bought this phone. Does anyone have the solution for this problem?

How did you your music on the card? when I first got my hd2, I just basically copied my music folder from my pc by the typical "drag n drop" method which rendered the sense music player pretty much useless. What I did was have Itunes on my pc organize, (File/Library/Organize Library), the library and then locate this folder in the music folder, (Music/Itunes/Itunes Music/Music). Open that music folder and you will see that Itunes has filed the music by artist alphabetically. I then selected all these folders and copied them over (except for ringtones and podcasts folder) and have had no problems since.
Basically I think that since we are dealing with a phone that is a Windows based system, the more you can organize folders in a directory oriented manner, the better. Wether this will solve your problem or not, I really don't know. I read another post where a hd2 owner made a directory of alphabetical folders, A,B,C, etc, and put the artists in each folder accordingly and had similar results. Again, don't know if it will help or not.
Also, I don't use the WMP. Don't like it, never have liked it even on my pc. On the hd2 it seems shaky at best so I stay away from it. Just my personal experience.
I found there is no way to search for the music I have in the SD card by regular player.
I could find some of the traks using mixzing, but just 5% of the total, how is that? All of them are in the same directory! (root)
Do you play music normally with your HD2s?
Thanks

there was a small issue the day before yesterday where i couldnt see any tracks on the htc music player (running 1.4 version ofthis.. but a simple reset to wm and booting back to android fixed this (had been running it since it was released with very few soft resets so i guess it deserved a break)
maybe try doing a reset first, might fix it.. if not then maybe try asking the thread where u got ur android build...
If you have dev tools installed (most likely not) then open up Dev Tools > Media Scanner, it will scan your SD card for pictures, videos, & music files.
Here's the Dev Tools apk:

Odd, on the root of my SD card I have a folder called Music, in that there is some 2 odd GB of music, all of which is picked up by the default player, as with any other media stored on the card, such as photo's previously taken within WinMo.

I just got a Samsung galaxy note 3 after years of being shackled by iPhone -- don't know why I didn't leave Apple earlier. Only problem I have is I cannot get my music off iPhone and unto Note 3 (or even better still, just onto my PC -- Yes I do know about iTunes but can't get the iTunes music off iTunes/iPhone.
Is it actually possible to rip my music out of my iPhone and onto my PC (ideally in mp3 or other usable format) so I can load the music onto my Samsung note 3.
There used to be software about a few years ago (non apple software) that ripped the music off but Apple seem to have scoured the net and stopped this.
I'd be very grateful for some help here. You can post here or send me an email. Cheers.

It's all in your iTunes folder but make sure you only copy the music and not all the rest (album art, etc.) otherwise you will wasting a lot of space with files your Note cannot handle.
Good luck

Don't thank me, I'm useless
You can't extract music from a device through iTunes anyway.
I remember with an iPod you used to be able to hook it up to a pc, show hidden files and find a ton of folders with weirdly named .mp3's. All you had to do was copy them and rename them. Does this not still work on an iPhone?
You can try to use Sharepod, but it will require iTunes 10.0 or higher to be open. This because Apple scrambles the filenames.
iTools works perfect for me. You can just google it and download it
Hey,
Use iTools. You can sync both ways using iTools. I stopped using iTunes after my friend showed me iTools.
It can transfer all your songs from iPhone to PC/Mac.

I used to use this when I wanted to get the music out of my iPod into my Mac: https://www.fadingred.com/senuti/
But scouring around the internet I found that this may work too: http://www.getsharepod.com/

However, now I cannlt seem to find an app or similar to enable me to get to my music on the SD card. I like to be independant of 'The Cloud' or third party storage. Consequently, can anybody help me out whereby I can just listen to MY music?

Ah, now that may be something. Checked some of the extensions on music files and they are showing .wma, not .mp3. Does that mean I have to edit all my files so they read as .mp3 or is there a magic way of updating them all?
