I found there is no way to search for the music I have in the SD card by regular player.
I could find some of the traks using mixzing, but just 5% of the total, how is that? All of them are in the same directory! (root)
Do you play music normally with your HD2s?
Thanks

works normally for me..
there was a small issue the day before yesterday where i couldnt see any tracks on the htc music player (running 1.4 version ofthis.. but a simple reset to wm and booting back to android fixed this (had been running it since it was released with very few soft resets so i guess it deserved a break)
maybe try doing a reset first, might fix it.. if not then maybe try asking the thread where u got ur android build...
If you have dev tools installed (most likely not) then open up Dev Tools > Media Scanner, it will scan your SD card for pictures, videos, & music files.
Here's the Dev Tools apk:

i have the same problem as you unless i use a sense rom and dev tools media scan dosent work for me
Odd, on the root of my SD card I have a folder called Music, in that there is some 2 odd GB of music, all of which is picked up by the default player, as with any other media stored on the card, such as photo's previously taken within WinMo.

hi everyone
i got hd2 for two days and i have problem with music player, the first time i played music with music player it worked fine but then when i play it, it just play the song for two seconds. where is the problem?!!!
i did a hard reset but still i have the problem...
no solution?!!!???!!
I haven't a clue, but I have some suggestions you could experiment with.
Do you keep your music files on a memory card? If so, although I haven't experienced any problems in this respect, the problem could be that the HTC music player has some problems with your memory card. Copy some of your music files to the internal memory of the HD2 and try to open them in your music player. If they play without any problem, backup your memory card, reformat it in the HD2 (settings -> memory... i think) and restore the backup on your memory card.
BTW does your music play without any problems in the mobile media player (look in the multimedia folder)? If so, you can use that player to play your music and save yourself some time.
Good luck

There are more threads in the Leo forum on problems with the audiomanager, and some solutions in those threads as well. Use the search, browse through the topics - you will find solutions / ideas posted by other users.
Don't just expect others here to do all the work for you, you may want to put some effort in this yourself first.
I am sorry if this was mentioned before, I did search but found too many misleading threads.
I have an 8gb class 6 microsd, I created a music folder and loaded a few mp3s to test out on Meridian Player and MixZing. Both media players did not find any of my music, and I could not find the files I just added using the File Manager.
I'm confused, as when I connect to my PC via USB, I see the files. But they don't appear on the device?

Hmm haven't tried Froyo or Meridian/MixZing (actually I may have lol). I've got Eclaire and have used the default and 3 (cubed) music players. So far I've had no problems.
I've got Eclaire in the root of my sdcard and my music in:
***root sdcard***\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\
Where did you create your music folder?
Does doing something similar for Froyo work?- say:
Froyo in: ***root sdcard***\Android
Music in: ***root sdcard***\Android\Music

I've tried to create them in the root and in Android\music. It just seems to have a very difficult time recognizing any files I put on the SDcard.

Seems like a Froyo Stock Music App bug as I have the same problem on Stock Builds. Sense builds and the HTC Music App does not have this problem so it has something to do with the way Froyo indexes music files.
I have tried sdrescan, scanmedia (both free apps in the market) and it won't detect all the music in stock Froyo builds.
You could try MortPlayer, as it indexes all your folders when it starts... haven't had luck with it though as it keeps FC'ing on me
I was able to transfer 3 songs over and have it opened through my File Manager app. It took over 6 tries for the SD card to actually read the files. When I would add files, File Manager would show them as 0 KB. I got lucky with these 3 mp3s but haven't been able to consistently add songs.

Hmmm, so other music players use Froyo's indexing service while HTC player and MortPlayer don't?

Yes. That's what its looking like. no amount of sdrescan's will reveal all my music files, unfortunately.
For those of you who don't have this problem, where do you store your Music Files?

Idd, so either use mp3's with proper tags, or use these players.
Or use "Music Player" from Social Soft, it can tag/id mp3's.
im having a similar problem, i have over 300 songs but i can only find 20 in the music player but on sense builds (2.1+2.2) it finds all of my music
Tagging isn't the problem... Froyo seems to have a bug re: indexing music... no amot of scan or rescan will reveal ALL the music in the Music App or any app that relies on the Music App's indexing (doubletwist, tunewiki, mixzing, etc....)
Sense music player uses its own indexing since in Sense builds the Stock Music App is usually not included.
MortPlayer would have done the job since it indexes per folder but it keeps on crashing on my install. (shubcraft v1.1)
i have the htc hd2 tmob version, runnin █ ELEGANCIA ROM Series™ █ ◄●|17 Aug.|V2 Final|6.5.5|6.5|●► █ [CHT]●[GTX]●[MaxSense], E-GTX ROM, with the dal131 (spell check) android 2.2 froyo. now when i boot into android, whether it be using haret or the dual boot, not all of my music files are recognized in the music player. now when i use the linda file explorer it shows my music in the MP3 folder and they are all in a compatible format (unless the nexus uses a diff format than the g1 and cliq use)
any ideas on why only 100 out of the 700+ music files are showing in the music player?
Also i have looked under, recently installed playlist, all songs, all artists, etc etc, and it doesnt show all the songs but it does when i boot in windows mobile
should i move the files out of the android folder and place them in the root [of the SD card]?
I'm no dev, nor am i even very knowledgeable with the programming side of the android universe.
I think it is probably because you are running android off the sd card right now. I think all your music will show up fine when a full nand version of android is released. Although, what do I know, I'm no dev.
For the heck of it go get "NSW Player" from the market and try it. Report back and let me know if that player works better.
Good luck.
hmmmz never thought of that, yea could be becuz im runnin it off the SD card, ill check if it does happen with that player or any other installed player
i just also thought i'd delete the mp3 player and let the system create its own (if it even will)
if you uninstall the stock mp3 player i don't think the system will reinstall one.

nah i meant uninstall the mp3 folder but with using the nswplayer and mixzing player they still read the same. ill fiddle around and see if it could be a file extension issue or something
I've got the same problem, I'm wondering if music files need to be in the 100MEDIA file, anyone tried this?

Bingo, I removed all music from the Music file then added it again to the Media file, all music now appears.

Hello,
Recently I found that my SD card (that I just bought new) suddenly had 0,0 byte (shown like that) free space left. I had been using tens of hours of music player in the car (power amp) and a few hours of GPS.
I checked my SD card when this kept occuring, and found that the \Android\data\com.android.providers.media\albumthumbs folder contained tons of files, totalling about 1,5 to 1,7 GB of space.
I found here http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Barebones that MediaProvider.apk uses this and I should not delete this (which I have done by now anyway since I lost some functions of my smartphone, which annoyed me).
So does anybody know what makes this happen? I have about 9,5 GB of music on my SD card, but with my old SD card (standard 2 GB) that I used for over a year I never had this problem. I would like to have a way to prevent this from happening over and over again. I don't need album thumbs... Even though I set "don't download album art" in poweramp options, the problem reoccurs, so I doubt it has to do with that option.
I use CM7 nightly #177 and recently tried to run the A2SD script (see my other thread in this section) and changed my 2GB card for a 16GB one, could any of these perhaps be the reason?
Cheers!
2gb album art for 10 gb songs.! dude r u a muzic maniac? sorry if i hurt u. but i just got wondered. i have put 1ly 2 gb music. and occationally changes the collection.
so i may suggest u some thing.
if u are facing with problems of downloading album art when u play music, just cut down mobile data connection when u use player. else....
try embedding some album art into ur mp3z using a computer, so no more downloading happens. else....
try changing/ deleating the id3 tags from songs.
applications are available for id3 management for win/ lin / mac. google it.

I do not add any art myself. I did not have this problem for over a year. It appeared now when I got a new SD card and used the A2SD script. The files reappear after deleting them but I don't think they are downloaded. There is actually no art SHOWN in the music player, that's why I don't know why art thumbs are in that folder...
and yes, I am am a music maniac My wildfire now replaces my good ol' iPod
Even I have this problem. I think its some bug. I have just 5 GB o music but 2 GB of albumart thumbs !! Wonder where it comes from !! This is on Nexus S..
im getting the same problem, using OMFGB and DECK for evo, i didnt get it using synergy, could it be a AOSP situation?
Simple I know!
I have all my music stored on a micro SD card. This used to play fine on my old HTC M8.
However, now I cannlt seem to find an app or similar to enable me to get to my music on the SD card. I like to be independant of 'The Cloud' or third party storage. Consequently, can anybody help me out whereby I can just listen to MY music?
Take it simple, 'cause you may lose me!!!
Use google play music, it is in the all application list.

Thanks, but it doesn't pick up my music from the SD card. Hence why I'm asking.
Hııım, weird. On the left menu settings- click on music library and all songs appears in the list. Mine shows all the mp3s. Maybe you need to reformat sd card

Ah, now that may be something. Checked some of the extensions on music files and they are showing .wma, not .mp3. Does that mean I have to edit all my files so they read as .mp3 or is there a magic way of updating them all?
