[RESOLVED] Phone Freezing When Charging - HD2 General

Anyone else having problems with their phone freezing or slowing way down while the charger cable is connected?
I tried the wall-plug as well as a regular PC USB slot, but still have the same trouble. I tried changing between Active-Sync and Data when connected to a PC, but that didn't help.
It happened with both stock ROM and NRG's April 14th ROM.
Maybe I just need to ask T-Mobile for the "ID 10 T" code?
---Edit---
This only happens if I have the phone connected to any USB connection than the official charger.
It is still an issue when sync'ing, but otherwise charging it properly helps!

could be hardware related may have to go to tmo =/

May I ask what is that code and what's it for?

Turning on Bluetooth kills data (3G, EDGE) connection?

I have my data connection (3G, EDGE) ON 24 x 7 and I noticed that when I turned on Bluetooth on the device, it kills my data connection. The "U" or "G" icon disappear and the regular "Y" (antennae) icon is shown. All pending connection (i.e. file download) stopped.
This cause an issue with me because if I am downloading some data (I.e. Windows Live) and I need to connect to my Bluetooth headset, the download will fail because the data connection stopped.
Any one experienced this?
Anyone? Hello?
..........
i have always had this issue whether hermes or wizard.. i think its just a common thing.. i dont believe there is a fix, but i could be wrong

Try a hard reset. If you've installed a lot of stuff, use SBP Backup first. If that doesn't fix then return it.

I have tried that, believe me. I also have 2 Cingular 8525 with different S/N and both exhibit the same problem. I am trying to avoid or at least delay returning the device until I confirmed that this is a known issue that won't be fixed until the next firmware.
In any case, I posted the question hoping that someone can help me just by turning on BT WHILE they're connected. Simple.
Throwing back the same suggestion you have given, would you return your device at the slightest hang or issue without posting on the forum, this one or anywhere else?

Thanks for confirming that. That's 4 Hermes (2 of mine, 1 belonging to my friend and yours) with the same problem.

My 614c can't activesync and battery issues

I've read many forums on the internet, but didn't find a solution in this case:
My 614c cannot sync with PC activesync on any computer in any way. When I put the cable, all PC with different Windows with/without firewall etc. says "USB device is not recognized" (I have other PDA wich syncs with no problems). Led is orange, PDA is charging, phone works as usual. At least I've synced with bluetooth, but it doesn't help when I need to upgrade firmware. So the question: is it the iPAQ hardware problem and the only way is to get to service (warranty has expired)?
Next issue:
I've managed to upgrade to latest original OS via SD card, but I didn't found solution, how to upgrade Radio without activesync (now I have 0.77 version). Does anybody know?
Last issue:
Battery drains too fast. Overnight just in stand-by (with GSM, not 3G) it goes down 20%. In normal use, the phone will last a day. Is there any solution how to check if it's the battery problem or the phone? As activesync doesn't work, could it be some electrical shortcut that drains battery just for nothing?
Thanks for your opinions and answers.

Hi,
Guess you need to check how your device's settings for USB are. (see System | USB-to-PC and check or uncheck the option) ...
For the batterydrain, if you have indeed the latest OS installed, you can easily check what app is still running when you disconnect the phone in the HTC Taskmanager.
The radio is now fw 0.89 and some guys managed to update it through SD. Read about it in this thread.
Dirk
Hello,
Did you tried to uninstall the device's drivers (from the PC)? Did you tried a hard reset?
USB-to-PC tried in all variations - USB Device is not recogized.
From all PC's software was installed-uninstalled. I did PDA hard-reset few times, even upgraded to Manilla 6.1 ROM, but still impossible to sync.
I use FdcSoft Task Manager, so I know how to shut down apps, but there are many other processes that I don't know what each means and does it have connections with battery drain.
I copied to SD card few files from extracted Radio, and waited for a long time in Modem bootloader, but it really doesn't work.
Strange. Go to device manager while you are "connected" with the cable and and try to uninstall the device and delete the driver.
Known issue
Hi,
My 614C had exactly the same issue (battery empty within a day, and no USB connection possible). Fortunately this happened within the guarantee period, and I got a new one from HP.
I read somewhere that another user had the same issue after using a car charger, which I used as well. Maybe that creates the initial problem, if the charger doesn't output 5V but more.
Did you flashed your (radio) firmware ?
Good luck repairing your HP,
charlieMOGUL
one more thing about battery
take battery out then pull out the minisd and insurt it back
now check battery life
sometime minisd is not plased well then you get such...
good luck
btw - if you can try working one day with on nimisd card to check...
charlieMOGUL, somehow I think your version is right, it's not the PC or miniSD, or old radio firmware problem. I bought this phone from ebay so who knows who was it's previous user. Maybe he even didn't activesync, because he didn't need it.
The interesting part is how much would it cost to repair this HP and could it be possible to do it by non-HP experienced technician, we have friends, you know..
And I still haven't found radio firmware flash solution via SD card.
I used to have battery draining fast problem as well. That's because one of the Spb applications that came bundled with the device was causing the processor to run continually even during sleep.
Try installing this freeware application to check if the device really sleeps when suspended:
http://handheld.softpedia.com/get/System-Utilities/Enhancements/B-Uptime-12141.shtml
With Spb program caused this issue?
yes it's hard to believe but it's true. I think it was SPB pocket plus or mobile shell but both the older version. After I installed the latest version it really sleeps.
I know exactly its spb because one by one, for each of the services i stopped it, then restarted. I did this for every services that's running. I restarted or soft reset the device literally a dozen times. Then I found out the device really got suspended when the spb application was stopped running. I removed the application at once then everything went fine. I updated the program, reinstalled the application and all is a OK...
I was at my wits end for days trying to figure out why..
Of course for others it may not be spb but some other software that isn't compatible with the other softwares that's concurrently running.
Thanks for the info.
Hi,
You can try to do it yourself - I heard that it has something to do with the USB connector. Buy the parts on repair hp pda dot com (or a similar site) and, well, good luck!
I had quite some good experiences with the HP support, you can ask them for a quote.

Help!! My Universal went crazy !!!

Hi Guys
I need help. After recently flashing my universal with Tomal v8.9 lite rom. My Uni went crazy and I got two problems that repeat constantly:
1. It is switching itself off for no reason especialy when wifi is on (it does it on power and when on battery) and It can't restart until I connect it to power supply.
2. I've put the skyfire on but when connecting insted of using T-mobile internet its trying to use T-mobile picmsg connection settings and is not connecting to the net. IE and opera are working ok with the right connection ( i'm on T-mobile with web and walk unlimited internet)
Plz any1 can explain this and help to correct?
thx
How good is your battery life? perhaps it´s time to replace it
Have you tried to reflash to another ROM?
Have you tried doing a Doc format?
See if doing any of that prob goes away
well you might be right about the battery. i have this uni sice 2006 and for last year it was lying in the draw coz i've cracked the screen and just recently i've bought new one and replaced it so the battery sounds like the cause of the problem event if the device shows that is 75% full when the switching off happend but the fact i need to connet it to the charger to make it boot again confirm that theory. However it happend also when i had it connected to the charger in my car during using tomtom but i think it was fully charged at this very moment so maybe the charger went off or something. anyway it is happening when a lot of power is needed ( wifi on , bluetooth in use etc.) so it is defenetly power issue. But im getting my htc hd2 tomorrow so the universal will remain in my car as a sat nav thank you for your help.
btw what is doc format?
ah yes I've tried to flash WM5.0 the one with tmobile ext rom but it got stuck in boot scren... I coudn't make it work so I've flashed it back with tomal's rom. Is there a problem with going back to wm5?

Have found that sometimes it helps to remove the battery from the phone for 30 seconds or so. After booting, wifi is back to normal.
If that doesnt work, a restart of the router (at least 10 sec without power) also have helped sometimes.
Good luck!
i have tried to remove the battery restarted the router. flashed new radio etc. i run android on it now

EDIT:
i have tryed flashing rom and radio again
This could very well be ROM/Kernel related you would most definitly get a much more specific answer if you were to post in the ROM thread. there is probably more than just you going through this same issue.
in the same vein as the post above, i recommend testing wifi with STOCK WM6.5 to eliminate the (community-made) ROMs (like android, WP7, etc) as possible contributors to the issue.
if you get the same problematic results with the STOCK WM6.5 ROM, then it very likely is a hardware issue. if things are fine with STOCK WM6.5, then do consider a different android build and/or post your findings in the relevant ROM thread so that the chef and users can look into your issue.
if it is a hardware issue, i have read several threads here which seem to indicate that an antenna cable might be loose. a strong indication that this cable is loose is that bluetooth also suffers from a significant drop in range (because wifi and bluetooth share the same antenna). these threads seem to indicate that fixing the cable is somewhat easily possible if you are comfortable with opening the device and fixing it yourself.

A very good advice IMO.
Also it may be a losen contact between wifi/bluetooth module and correspondent antenna: both cases imply to open your hd2..., after this point could be an easy fix!
Good luck!

WiFi and Bluetooth Issues on SGH-1337M

Hi all,
I've been having kind of a strange issue with my Galaxy S4 SGH-1337M. I'll start off with a bit of background info. A few weeks ago my phone started having problems charging, so I replaced the charging port last week. Shortly after replacing the charging port, my S4 started having problems connecting to WiFi and Bluetooth. It's a little odd though. It still connects to WiFi networks occasionally, but when it does, its an extremely weak connection and drops almost immediately. It's the same story with the Bluetooth. It connects fine, but music playback stutters with speakers and my car's stereo. I've already taken it apart again to see if anything looks damaged or if the WiFi antenna was disconnected, but everything looked normal to me. My device is running Android version 5.0.1 and isn't rooted. I really don't know what's going on, and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,
u can go heare ==> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=50787570&postcount=2549 . See how to flash your modem, but first you need to know your modem's version ( ie : I337MVLUGOC4 or higher...) to do so, go to your dialer and type : *#1234# your modem version is called CP, google it, download it , flash it with odin, reboot and see if it's working.
If the wifi started after changing the charging port, it could be a loose connection somewhere or there is something wrong with the replacement charging cable.

I actually tried the old charging port to see if the issue was with the new component, but I still had the same problem with the old connector. I've checked all of the connections and everything, at least to my eyes, appears to be connected securely.
It's not uncommon for the wifi chip on the s4 to stop working. I have two motherboards sitting here that work perfectly except the wifi.

There may still be hope. Where did you get the replacement USB flex cable for the phone? I still say it could be the cable if the replacement was not oem.

I bought the USB port on eBay. The description claimed that it was OEM, but I don't think I would know otherwise. Like I said though, I have already eliminated the new flex cable as the culprit becasue when I reinstalled the old flex cable, the WiFi and Bluetooth were still broken.
The phone has the correct imei? If it does, then the wifi chip is probably defective.
