Hey..So I unlocked my from from tmobile and use it on At&t's network. I have internet running fine with edge but for some reason every time i take a picture and try to send it to someone I can't? Anyone know a fix for this? And yes I do pay for picture/video messaging through At&t and I was able to do it on my old blackjack 2. Thanks
did you configure mms on the hd2 to work with AT&T's network? If not, search for the appropriate connections settings. You will change them under Start... Settings... Connections... Connections... Manage existing connections... edit... then put in the settings you found.

The 3g Is carrier dependent. The only version of the HD2 that will work on ATT 3g is the Telstra version

It is a hardware limitation. You say you you had your tilt running on t-mobile 3g? That is odd as it does not have the hardware to run on the freq

Never measured the speed but there was "H" on display and not "E"
May be was my mistake.
If HD2 is not capable of running on ATT 3G I will have to change my plans.

Well, to buy it outright here in US it's $500 for Tmobile one vs $800-900 for TELSTRA version.
There is no phone in my book I would spend $800.
So it's either TMobile HD2 with edge or TILT2
LOL

I Had a Tilt2 sense 2 days before release on ATT and Loved it, But took the plunge and sold it to buy my HD2, even on edge I think I made the right choice. Everything that did annoy me with the tilt 2 is not an issue with the HD 2.

What were the problems with TILT2?
As long as internet radio streaming will work on edge I can deal with it.
I use SPB Online for those things it also have internet TV but it never works up to the watchable standard.

To be flat honest it needed a ram boost. I am a huge music fan and listen all day long and it would keep running high. The camera sucked ( I know not a big deal lol) It had probs reading anything bigger then a 8gb card in the camera (also not a real big deal). As much as I liked the screen on the Tilt 2 I have to say that if it had a capasitive screen I may have just choked it up and bought my HD 2 out right instead of selling one to get the other. It will work, but I use WIFI most of the time so I cant account for the speeds

hi. i was using my IM+ today and i received an MMS message (for the first time ever in three months) and for some reason, it said i had to disconnect from my other GPRS using applications to download or send the mms.
is this truly the case? i have to use mms on a pure, unused gprs connection? and why? thanks.
bump
Could it be anything to do with the different GPRS connections you have on the phone and the individual proxy/WAP settings each one has?
Usually to download the MMS message, the phone needs to the reach the MMSC through a WAP account using a special proxy and finally reaching the servlet to execute/download the message.
Any GSM experts out there?
--selim
hi baygins, does that happen to you as well?
You have to be connected to WAP to download MMS messages on TMobile.
I dunno if the rest are all the same.

It used to happen to me when I was using my SE P900. I havent received any MMS's lately, so I cannot tell. But, since the general way MMS works is the same, I would think the MDA would behave the same way.
First time using a touch-screen, non-tmobile Windows Mobile phone and Im stuck on how to use the itnernet on this thing!
I do have the T-Zones, $5.99 unlimited data plan, and works perfectly fine with internet browsing on my dash.
How do I go about using it on the Herald? I've never configured internet on an unbranded phone before. I would just enter the phone number and have the settings sent, normally anyway
anyway, I'm editing the port to 8080 and using wap.voicestream.com over the Cellular Line (GPRS)
and using the 216.155.165.050 but still no go? Any help is appreciated. Just got it and am thinking about selling it if I can't get the internet to work with T-Zones
I've searched, but everyone has stuff on their Wings with T-Mobile software, not OEM Herald
To my knowledge you cant get T-zones on the Wing (Herald). IT required that 29.99 data plan.
But you can try to go to your network settings and great a new modem that goes to wap.voicestream.com. You may already have a setting that you could edit or create a new phone.
If anyone has a better solution please post but i havent seen T-zones as an option for Heralds.

I work for tmobile, and the wings should not be alloud to use unlimited tzones to access the full internet.. tzones if for like movies, directions, yellow pages, quick searches, ect. Not full browsing.

Your problem is the number is wrong. I had the same issue and when I changed it to 216.155.165.50 and not .050 it worked fine on my tzones $5.99 plan. I have full browser capabilities, I even use google maps connected to the web. All the other settings are ok. Make your the port is 8080 and not just 80. The only issue I have is whenever I want to connect via wifi then I have to uncheck "this network connects to the internet" and re-enter it if I want to use gprs-edge again.
Hello, I am about to soon get my new HD2 and wondered if there were any AT&T cabs that will automatically update all the network settings, MMS, text, etc for the phone or if there is a resource for setting all these net settings up?
Also, while I have you what has your experience been on AT&T with your new HD2's? How is your internet speed been without 3G?
Anybody? I just ordered with Clove, and use ATT. I can tolerate Edge, but would like to know what others think.

I've found it to be very fast on ATT. I have gotten around 180kbps download using the iphone speed test site but it loads pages so quick! And as stated it will auto configure. Only problem I had was that youtube failed to work on wifi so I had to delete the wap.cingular proxy in the registry for youtube.
You are telling me that youtube worked at all with Edge speeds? I was thinking youtube would be out for this phone on AT&T without 3G...

Should work just fine, just on edge speeds. Besides, you can always pause it and wait a minute or two for it to download a bit ahead.
How are those on AT&T finding the Edge and GSM reception levels?
I had the HD and used it on ATT with EDGE only. It worked just fine. Just got the HD2 in Bangkok and cant wait to get back Stateside and see how she works.
How about the MMS settings on at&t. Did it auto config for that too? Have you sent or received any mms's on it yet with at&t? Thanks.
i have had the phone working on ATT in the states for 3 4 weeks .....everything works fine MMS SMS email ..you tube is slow ......but like others ...occasinaly missed calls , text get held up and the keyboard takes a lot of time to get use to ....i mean alot ....coming from iphone

Where did you delete? I did the normal registry delete wap.cingular where I have deleted in the past to make my touch pro 2 youtube work and now I just get an error that says youtube connection failed, please try again?? Am I missing something? I can see the video listings thou.
EDIT: Did a hard reset. Seems to be working now. after the reg edit, I had to watch the video on EDGE first then try to watch it on wifi. I was trying wifi first with zero results. Weird.
Mine works fine on AT&T. I use MIFI.

I would like to start taking advantage of youtube, running on ATT's US network. It seems difficult to download these videos without having errors. Could someone be more specific as to, how to: "delete the wap.cingular proxy in the registry for youtube", and will this really solve the problem. Thank you in advance for the advice.
here is the quote on how to fix it.....
Youtube wifi fix:
Got if fixed IF YOU'RE ON at&t: for those of you on at&t in the US, i finally got the YouTube app in Dutty's 2.1 ROM to work. Yeah!!! i used a registry editor and removed the value "wireless.cingular.com:80" from the Proxy setting under the key HKLM\Comm\ConnMgr\Providers\{EF097F4C-DC4B-4c98-8FF6-AEF805DC0E8E}\HTTP-{436eF144-B4FB-4863-A041-8F905A62C572}. next, i fired up the YouTube app and it connected almost instantly. i waited for 3 minutes, soft reset and tried again to make sure the settings are not reset automatically: the settings survived and YouTube connected almost instantly. since i have 2 Touch HD's (one an EDGE only the other 850 3G) that had the problem, i fired up my second one, deleted the same key and it connected without issue. performed the soft reset and it worked as well
I installed the cab file. MMS and internet seems to be working. But some things like E-mail and Google Maps seem to not work. What do I need to do?

Will the Nexus One work with all Networks in the UK on 3G and H?
Will it work on Three network?
it supports the same bands as the diamond 2, so I think so....
I rang up 3 UK last night to confirm if nexus one will work on 3 network and the person on the other side of the phone did'nt know what was I talking about... I tried to explain to him that I am buying Nexus one, will it work on three network, and the reply was "Sir we don't sell Nexus one at the moment"
I guess Nexus one will work on 3 Uk, I recently sold my HD2 which I was using on 3 Uk, it was working great with no problems apart from Switching between HSDPA to 3G and so forth...
The Nexus one supports the 2100Mhz band so as did HD2, so My guess is it will work.
My Nexus One arrived today, and I've put my 3 SIM card in.
Voice and text are working fine, but I'm having trouble getting an internet connection. I'm sure that is just me not getting the settings right rather than a problem with the phone/radio however.

Please update once you get the internet sorted... I'm really depending on reviews from people's experience with this phone on 3g internet etc...
I'm really interested in this phone but need to be sure if it is going to fully work with 3 UK network..
I will try, but not getting far with trying to Google the answer for the APN settings etc.
Might have to ring 3 tonight and ask them to help me, though with their previous service and the fact this is a brand new phone that they don't officially support I'm not looking forward to it.

Ok I found the following settings on my 3 Uk working on my HTC Dream (G1)
Mind you I had to search for these settings and enter them manually as wel... and since then it has been working fine.
Ok here it goes...
Name:

APN:
three.co.uk
Proxy:
leave it as it is
Port:
leave it as it is
Username:
leave it as it is
Password:
leave it as it is
Server:

MMSC:

MMS proxy:
217.171.129.2
MMS port:

MCC:

MNC:

APN Type:
leave it as it is
Thanks man, but scratch that - I'm online!
Thought I had the right settings (APN should be three.co.uk) but I think I just needed to restart the phone after applying the settings.
From a quick play around it seems really good. Pages load quickly, and Google maps (coming from an LG Viewty) is amazingly fast!
I'm in central London and just did a quick speed test - results were 762 kbps, with a latency 1.05 seconds. I've seen faster, but that's good enough for now.
Conclusion - yes, it works with a 3 SIM
edit: Sorry to make you go through all that copying of the settings - appreciate the help though.

Cool... I 'm happy now.. will order mine now...
works perfectly out of the box on T-Mobile UK, all 3g running fastly!
I've got mine as well and running 3 Uk network... running very smooth with all the services... Very happy, no problems with 3g signals...
no joy here.
i've tried everything i can think of to get the built-in wifi hotspot to work, without success. i can connect, but then there is no internet access. on my vista laptop the connection properties read: "access: local only".
i've also tried tethering my blackberry playbook, with similar (non-) results.
i was beginning to think that EE might be detecting tethering and had started to block it, but i managed to connect OK today using the same sim in my old HTC Hd2 winMO 6.5 phone and the wmwifirouter tethering app.
Yes it works for me with my iPad, though i am on T-Mobile but its all part of the same network i think

Make sure you have the consumer broadband APN assigned. Search Google for the settings as I'm too lazing to paste mine! You should find them using google and then tethering will work. I use it regularly connecting my TF101.

thanks for the replies guys.
i looked at settings/ more... mobile networks/ access point names.
there was no "Consumer Broadband" APN defined, so i created one entering values derived from here:

'Select Consumer Broadband
Change the following settings, taking care to make sure that you copy these details exactly (including capital or lowercase lettering)…
APN from consumerbroadband to orangeinternet
Username from <Not set> to Orange
Password from <Not set> to Multimedia
Authentication type should be set to CHAP.
Press your Menu button, tap “Save”
Now in theory, you should be able to create a hotspot and connect to the internet'
didn't work for me, alas!
any other ideas?

between this and the bluetooth fiasco i'm getting a bit angry with google.
hopefully the 4.2.2 update will bring some fixes.
i'm going to keep bumping this thread in the meanwhile.
Anybody else on EE (orange) and tethering successfully? Anybody?
I have had no success either. I tried calling orange but the guy was convinced I needed LG software like Kies to be able to set it up so gave me the number for LG. I think I'll call back and speak to someone else.
success!
problem solved!
i am now tethering my laptop and blackberry playbook to my N4 on EE (orange) UK!
All that was necessary was to phone Orange and have them switch it on; simple as that. i spoke to a chap in India, told him which handset i had, and he then activated data tethering "with a 1GB cap".
i received a "updated sevices" text on my phone moments later, switched off and on again, and it worked thereafter.
there was no charge for this. my contract is a 1 month sim-only dolphin 20 with 1GB data and i would presume the tethering comes out of this allowance (although the chap on the phone said that this was a separate thing ??)
anyway, for anybody else, it's nothing to do with APN settings etc. you need to phone orange and ask for it to be activated.
I'm on ee or orange UK and my hotspot works, you have to go into a ee store and activate tethering through them, check your data plan on your my orange account like the attached image and see if it says tethering in the info underneath the bar

thanks. however i just checked my orange online account and, unless it's taking ages to update (not unknown for orange), there is nothing new listed; certainly nothing about tethering, yet my tethering now works where it didn't before.
so it looks like it doesn't need to be indicated on the account for it to be activated.

Called them again and after a fair amount of messing around including adding the consumer broadband apn the guy said doesn't see why it won't work and that I should try tethering to a different device to check is not my macbook with the problem
Sigh
I still can't get this to work on the N4, I have it as a part of my package because it used to work on my HTC.

I am on Orange. I changed to the N4 from my galaxy S2. My tethering used to work on the S2 (thought I had to change the APN settings to make it work) but hasn't worked at all on the N4. I know it could be due to it being a different device but it doesn't make much sense.
I am planning to move to Giff Gaff in the next few days, I will report back if I have any change on the Wifi tethering!
