Hi,
I see, that B7610 has dual-LED flash/torch on the device. If the camera is turned on, both LED's are ignited. I have had hard time to find easy ant sutable app to get this flash/torch activated for longer time on signle command but now is pats that
Yet I am interested, if LED's dies might alternate between one another to minimize heat output of the die - to proteck and prolong their life. Such feature is on some Sony-Erricson phones and works very well! For now I do not risk to shine LED is longer that 30 sec. a time, and no more that 2-3 times in 5 minutes. I do not know the max. time on LED, without any long-term visible degradation - maybe someone knows better and can post it here?
Regards!
And one more idea - perhaps LED's of the flash/torch might be used for missed calls/reminders/new SMS/email notifications? A few short flashes in different patterns would be perfect solution!
It will be hardly visible notification. If phone lays face up then flash won't be visible.
Notification by short sound once per 5-10 mins is enough.

Hi all
Does anyone know if there is a way to control the length of time that the phone vibrates for? I rarely use my phone with the sound on (meetings etc.) and I realise that it is easy to recognise the difference between an incoming phone call and a notification by the length (and repeat) of the vibration going on in the phone's holster....
The notification vibrate seems to go on for about 5 seconds, whereas the fone ringing vibrate is much shorter and repeats at reasonable intervals.
Is it possible to modify this so that it does short pulses instead of zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!! I don't know what the battery consumption is like if one would receive say 30 notifications per day as opposed to just a few. It feels like a reasonably serious motor that is turning for this vibration.
I had the same thoughts, but little research as I am struggling with more serious issues of my TyTN...
Registry does not seem to have anything concerning vibration length.
It would be surely nice to control vibrations... some much less complex devices have such a feature from ages

Hi Rich,
This has been my number one bugbear since I first got this device. I've posted a couple of times here and on Modaco, but not a lot of feedback apart from the following:

I've not tried it yet but let me know how you get on.

Is there a software for making the flashlite turn on without using the camERA ON.
It is really useful if you dont want the camera to drain the precious battery... especially if you need it for hours...
I dont remember it, but I think I've seen it before somewhere in the net...

Well, when using the camera app, it's not the sensor itself, but the maxed out backlight and the flashlight LED that eat most of the battery. So turning on just the LED won't buy you too much battery life in my opinion. Besides, i don't know if using a wizard as a flashlight "for hours" is a good idea - that thing is a high power LED, and they tend to heat up during prolonged use. Since it doesn't have any heatsink or even a big PCB to help dissipate the heat, it wold probably get damaged after half an hour of using it at max brightness. It would probably last longer at lower brightness - like when the camera app is turned on (the camera app enables full brightness only for a second when taking a picture), but using it for long periods of time even in that mode isn't a very good idea.
I think you'll be better off buying one of those small keychain LED flashlights, of a bit bigger flashlight using a 1W power LED if you need something brighter. It will be much cheaper than replacing a burned down LED in the phone.
And for short term emergency use - starting the camera app isn't that much of a problem after all.
Using your flash as a flashlight is a surefire way to burn it out. It's a high output LED, and isn't made to be run constantly. You can definitely do this trick, Vijay555 has created a widget that lets you toggle it on and off, but even he warns you of the consequences.
http://www.vijay555.com/?Releases:VJCandela
But it's not possible to dim it with this app, the camera program dimms the LED until you actually make a picture.

Actually the flash led is bright but the backlight maxed out with a white screen puts out more light. It still runs down the battery quickly but you are not pushing anything the phone isn't designed to do. I created a mortscript that combines two apps I found on these forums. One maxes out the backlight and the other displays a solid white screen. You can pick other colors too. here is the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...4&postcount=24 I use it all the time when I'm under a desk plugging cables into a computer and need a light.
Cheers

hi
is it possible to let the notification led stay lit when there are missed calls or messages? perhaps the blinking time can be set anywhere in the registry. i would like it to remain lit like when the battery is fully charged because the time i have to look at it feels like eternity every time i want to check if i have some missed calls. this way a quick glance would suffice.
thank you
Has anyone found if this is possible.
I would like to blink the led more (i.e. every second instead of every 4 seconds now) when I got an e-mail.
When I missed a call the time is 1 second between the blinking.
I am also interested in this too, keep it lit like when it is being charged.
Why bother? The light's about the size of a mosquito's nuts, quicker to just turn the screen on isn't it?
The LED has the following:
1. Green when fully charged and while on a charger
2. Amber when charging and not fully charged
3. Flashing when a new SMS, email or missed call.
My question is: how can I set my TD2 to flash to indicate a new SMS, email or missed call at the same time as charging? It would seem that the charging indication takes priority over the flashing.... I want the flashing to take priority.
Does anyone know a solution to this please?
I would like the same.It will be great with no missing call or sms until you unplug your phone...and what about the second light next right to the phone? thanks a lot

There isn't a second light - it is a light sensor.
The light flashes different colors. So it could have be in rhythm with one color and different rhythm of another color.
R=Red, G=Green, Y=Yellow, - = 1 sec
---R---R---R---R---R---R---R (Charging)
-G---G---G---G---G---G---G-- (Missed Call)
Y---Y---Y---Y---Y---Y---Y--- (New Message)
So if it were charging, while having a missed call and new message, it would blink
Yellow, Green, Red, Yellow, Green, Red, etc
If it were just charging and a New Message it would
Yellow, pause, Red, Yellow, Pause, Red, etc
Just a Missed call would be
Pause, Green, Pause, Pause, Green, Pause, etc
So basically if you walked away for a minute and you had a new message and missed call while charging... it would be going crazy. You could even make a dash equal to 2 seconds to slow it down... or 3.
Well Player911, you do have a vivid imagination! Simply just flashing any colour would do nicely for me when charging and something has arrived from SMS, email or missed call.
Can you fix it?
I would prefer a green blinking light simply as a 'breathing' light. Maybe it could blink amber/red when it is low on battery.
It should burn full time only when there's a new event.
Anyway, preference may vary, but I think we all agree that it would be awesome if we could customise it!

I have the ideas, but not the know-how.
I am close to a solution and am currently testing this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1954259.
It seems to work, but the drawback is that you lose the LED notification for charging/charged completely to get the LED's to flash on an SMS/Email/missed call....
EDIT: This doesn't seem to work. It will work for a while, but if you charge then remove and then charge again, the charging LED comes back on. This then overrides the notifications LED which is what I want to take priority Back to the drawing board.
Hi,
can anybody provide a hint on how to change flashing time of the green led indicator? It blinks on missing calls but I'd like to increase the blinking period. I have HTC TD2 with Manilla 2.5 and Touch Sense.
my TD2 comes tomorrow, i think i miss my kaiser's led indicators when using TD2. kaiser is the best and enjoying with its leds, mostly when gps wifi and bluetooth opened at the same time

My old P3300 (Artemis) was like that too - quite a light show with gps, wifi, and bluetooth all on. Doesn't last long, 'cos the battery goes flat!
I really miss the flashing green "in service" LED. It was so handy to know a) you had reception and b) the phone hadn't crashed or the battery expired. The TD2 just sits there "lifeless" giving you no feedback at all.
Is there any way (app, reg hack) to make rear LEDs blink on missed call or message? Front green/amber LED is too small and often hard to see. Battery consumption may be a problem, but rear LED doesn't have to blink as often; quick flash (e.g. 100ms) every 30s would be ok.
The developer of TorchButton might be able to help you.
Search the forums on that name and send him a PM.
the idea is wicked
how come no one ever thought of this
That´d be totally cool. And worth a donation.
"Whoa, your mobile´s cam got insane....! -No, I just got a text "
Can see it being a big battery drain if your not around to dismiss it.
+1 for this
Great idea!
Camera light or maybe light of hardware buttons..? Would be cool!

Light of hardware buttons would be very cool too..
Yes, hardware buttons light would also be nice. PMed TorchButton dev, hope he can help...
+1 to this idea! and the hardware button for the light although making it one of your quick links is fine

I got your PM.
I'm sure this is possible, but it would probably create a battery drain while notifications are busy. This is because the device must be in unattended mode (not in standby, display off). Unattended mode is required as the flashlight and the keypad light don't stay enabled if the device is in standby. Let alone be able to make it blink with an interval.
So, while there is a notification (i.e. missed call or unread text), battery drain would go up like at least 50%.

Thank you for research on the topic, and your reply. Too bad it can't work in standby.
