Sometimes with a new SMS doesn't vibrate and/or sound

Hi all,
Sometimes my Touch Dual when gets a new SMS doesn't sound and/or vibrate. Even if I change the profile or do whatever it still keeps the same. If I reboot or just after a time it starts with sound again.... it just happens with SMS received, if I got a phone call it still vibrates and sounds. Any ideas? Thanks a lot!

Same problem here... can anyone please help?
Most of the time the light goes on and no sound or vibrating... other times it plays a standard sound and not my selected one for SMS receiving...

ya. same to me.. after I upgrade my htc touch dual to WM6.1 and change back to "old sms look" from the regisry.. it cant get any sound at all...
and I was try to go setting-> sound & Notifications - >under Notifications page, the Event part [Messaging:New text message] I was set the wav sound, same to all the MMS setting.. I try to set all the msg to alarm3, but also no sound at all

I've solved my problem by changing the register:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings
In this folder the value for SMSAvailable is 0. Change it back to 1!
In a thread I was told to change it to 1 to get conservation style sms, I believe.. never worked

so mean we need to accept the new sms style only can get the sound.?

What do you mean with "the new style"? After 5 o 6 SMS sound & vibration vanishes

It still happens with my nike!

i think i solved the same problem but i dunno whether it's only me or same with ur problem. try to leave your sms folder open. means just minimize it.. hope it will work.

Thanks. This worked for me. I've outline my steps on my Sprint Htc Touch (htc 6.1 rom):
1. in regedit path KEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings\SMSNoSentMsg, change DWORD data existing Decimal value=1 to 0. Perhaps for some people, if existing value=0, then change to
1. Some forums indicated value from SMSAvailable. But I didn't see that entry in my registry. I saw only SMSNoSentMsg under the above path.
2. On tab Settings: Sounds & Notifications\Sounds, check both on Programs and Notifications
3. On tab Notifications: Event\Messaging\New text message, choose an event(s)
After all 3 steps, text message inbound should work. I changed the value in step 1 back to original value of 1. Sound still works. I think step 1 somehow "wakes up" the notification sound config

Disable New SMS Auto Wake Up and Turn On Screen?

Hi,
I've owned the Xperia for a week and it's a great WinMo device. However unlike Touch Pro or Diamond, there's no registry tweak available to turn off the auto wake up on new sms feature.
I found it really annoying. Everytime a new SMS arrived when the phone was in my pocket the screen automatically turned on, and as I was walking my jeans' pocket continuously "touched" on the phone screen and accidentally opened bunches of programs and scroll up and down until it hanged.
It will be perfect to just make sound + vibrate, but keep the screen off, as I could do on Touch Pro.
Anyone knows of such a solution please do help!

I was having this problem too... the only thing I changed to attempt to fix this was instead of pressing the power button to sleep the phone before I put it into my pocket, I press and hold the end key so that it locks the phone and dims the screen. The screen eventually turns off and it requires you to unlock the phone when you power it back on. When you receive an SMS or Email, the screen still lights up, but you have to press unlock, then tap unlock to start using it.

Yes, I have the same problem too and hope we can have the option to turn it off so that the screen will not lighted up when there is new sms or call.
Can someone work on this?

The registry key used for the tweak that works on Touch Pro does not exist, which is HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL

That option is for Touch Diamond and Touch Pro only, and it does not show on Xperia when you use Advanced Config. It's obviously related to the registry key mentioned above.

I have found the solution, just need to use any registry editor like the Resco Registry Explorer or the SKTools to edit the registry.
Dont want the device to wake up on new SMS ?
It still notifies you with sound/vibrate/LEDs, but the screen will not turn ON
Just add in the below line into the registry location :
[HK_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL]
"DisableSMSWakeUpEvent"=dword:1

Has anyone tried this out to see if it works...???

I have tried it myself and it works, I don't have to worry that I might press anything on the screen when there is incoming SMS.

I was having this problem... when in my pcoket and getting tx message and the opt pad going all over the screen... kinda funny...
Im assuming when updating this key will be deleted and have to be put in again???

Not sure about yours but I do not have this key so I have to create a new one and it is working.

I need to create it...

HKCU
HKLM
are???

Put it in HKLM.
However Resco registry give me an error and doesn't create this dword. Very very strange...

Using your Registry Explorer an go to the below location :
Location in Registry : HK_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL
Select "New" D_Word and you will be asked to enter the details :
Top portion just enter : DisableSMSWakeUpEvent
and bottom portion just enter the value : 1
Save it and you should find the details there :
[HK_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL]
"DisableSMSWakeUpEvent"=dword:1

For easier way, you can download the latest Xperia Tweak and it include the option to turn off the screen for any incoming sms.

No Sleep Utility

I tried to install No Sleep.cab (from Diamond section), that keeps device screen ON during a call. I did it succesfully, but the screen stays still OFF. That means that this cab doesn' t work on Touch HD. Has someone else any better solution ?

With a registry editor after HKEY_Local_Machine \ Drivers \ BUILTIN \ DIR \ EnableFastD ormantDisplayDuringCall to "0" switch

Andreas, koumpare, the correct one is
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL\EnableFastD ormantDisplayDuringCall and you change DWORD from 1 (enable) to 0 (disable).
The answer is NO, it doesn't work. The value had been allready changed by NoSleep.cab to 0, but NO SUCCESS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey... in the specified path, I can't actually see ENABLE FAST DORMANT DISPLAY DURING CALL.... I DO see a Fast dormancy rule value, which I just changed to zero. Just called my top up line and the screen stayed on, so it appears this works.

doesn`t work for me. display still turns off during a call. hmz

The same thing with me
the registery vlue and NoSleep.cab are the same and the both doesn't work
they work only with diamond
the key EnableFastDormantDisplayDuringCall is not found in the registery , so I wrote it but it still failure .....

No way to get rid of this "sleep during call"
None of the usual tools works to get rid of this "sleep during call":
- Xperia which do not work on Blackstone
- KaiserTweak
- Advance Configuration
All the REGISTRY changes, found on several forum don ot work with our PDA !

I've found this registry tweak in the Kaiser forums, but worked like a charm on my original Iolite too:

I didn't even had to reset or delete my device to see the changes. Just close all programs and I made the tweak with Total Commander (from Ghisler).

After adding the reg key, my device playes the "new sms arrived" sound. Great.
But if I miss the sound, or the ringer is turned completely off, I do not see an indication for the new message unless I manually activate the screen.
I would also like to have the LED (on the top of the device) indicating that there is a new unread message.
Any idea?

The iolite have only one LED, the other is a light-sensor to correct the brightness automatically.
Try this: Start - Settings - Sounds & Notifications.

I really started to dislike the threaded way already.
But I had to reset my Iolite to swap to unthreaded sms.

Vibration when typing a text

On my old Nokia 5800 when i typed any kind of text (especially SMS) the cellphone vibrated. In HTC HD2 i'm not able to find any option that enables this kind of functionality.
Is there something similar to this functionality in the HD2?

If you have sense turned on scroll all the way to the end (settings) then hit personalise, then vibration and turn it on

you can, because mine does it..but i cant find for the life of me where the option is. sorry. ill keep looking.

i looked everywhere but there

Get a Registry editor
HKLM - Software - HTC - ezsip
add a DWORD key names "VibrationEnabled" without the speech marks. and set it to 1 for vibration or 0 for without.
I hope this is helpful cos i accidently renamed the Software folder to "d" and it wont change back! o well, excuse to flash

And... is it possible to create a folder to save sent sms?
