How come the desire rom has flash player but the nexus one doesnt??
Is there a way of getting the desire flash player installed on nexus? (without installing the whole desire rom)
Thanks.
It's not Flash. It's Flash-Lite.
It still plays Flash 8 SWF's... better than nothing...
Regardless. If you want it, flash a Desire ROM. It requires the HTC from work.

I'm using a 2.1 firmware and the only thing I see in the web browser that might be Flash is stupid banner ads. I can't get flash videos to play at all and other flash apps and games don't work.
My Nokia 5800 had Flash Lite but it could play videos and run many Flash apps just fine.
I know we're getting full Flash support with Froyo but I still want some basic Flash support for now. I don't want to install the leaked Froyo builds.
So is there a way to get Flash Lite to work like the Nokia 5800 version? Maybe the firmware I'm using just doesn't run it properly? I'm using GYH1.
Or is the Android Flash lite really just rubbish that can't do anything but ads?

Think the best option is to install skyfire unless you want to install JP3(some bugs).

The bugs are the reason I'm avoiding the Froyo builds for now. Guess I'll try Skyfire. I know about it but it's still pretty limited compared to actual Flash

I made sure it's checked but I still get nothing but ads
Does it work better for you? If so please tell me what firmware you have.
when i was on jf3 i had it enabled and it worked perfect I could play games, watch movies, after that I jumped to jm1 here it didnt work at all. And now on jm2 it works again(a)
Thanks guys. Must just be this firmware then. Strange though, I'm pretty sure it didn't work when I was on JM2.
I'm wondering which firmware I should use then? Can't wait for the official Froyo update.
I'm considering JM5 since a lot of people seem to be using it.
Edit: Tested it myself, it works!
Hi,
I have a nexus one and my friend wants the desire HD, but has some questions:
1. Can we install recovery WITHOUT rooting or at least without touching the stock rom?
2. Is there a patch to READ/WRITE Arabic letters? (a fix to connect the letters with each other, don't care about arabic UI)
3. If there's a patch, can it be installed on STOCK rom? with or without recovery?
I have my nexus one rooted and installed cooked rom, he doesn't want a cooked rom because he wants to receive google OTA updates.
Lol google don't update the desire hd.
But yes you need root before recovery.

Doesn't google release OTA's every now and then?
Can't I keep the original rom while rooting the device?
I'm guessing what he means, is that Google doesn't update the Desire HD. HTC do, since it's an HTC phone
Google release the update HTC grab it insert the UI etc give it back to Google for he ota update

You need to root (and S-OFF) to install a custom recovery, but you can keep the stock ROM if you want. The catch is, that sinse your friend *wants* to buy a DHD, chances are that it will come with 1.72 ROM preinstalled. So no rooting possibility (for now at least), which means no custom recovery.
Updates are released by HTC. Obviously, if the update includes some patching to the Android OS, it's made by Google (but still released by HTC), but if the update includes patching of some phone issues (e.g. proximity sensor) or enhaching the functionality of a HTC's preinstalled app (e.g. camera), it's made and released by HTC themselves.
Don't know about arabic letters though. I remember there was a thread about this when the phone was released, but I didn't follow it. Try searching.
Iv upgraded to dhd i no how to root dhd as iv read so dont panic lol. Ok question is im running uk tmobile dhd and iv read on quite a few forums of ppls phone suffering serious problems after rooting dont see why but just want to no if theres truth in this before i proceed

No dont worry, as long as you know what your doing your phone will be fine after rooting.... its the people that dont bother to read and understand what there doing before they do it that have problems

I wouldn't root the phone right now if i were you. The only custom ROM that's currently running at its best is Revolution HD and the in-call sound quality is really bad. I rooted mine over the weekend and thinking of reverting back to the stock OS that it came with.
Just play around with the phone as it is for now. at this point theres no reason to root and install a custom ROM..
i read somewhere that the latest release of cyanogen mod 7 nightly edition came up with something to fix the sound quality. Find out if CM7 is fully operational though cause its running gingerbread

Nothing wrong with sound quality on UK DHD's running any of the current CM Rom's ie 6.1.3 or 7, but then I haven't had any sound issues at all on calls or otherwise

You need a custom kernel to overclock, and before you have full root, you need to s-off

There is no flash support for galaxy 3 as of now...and some people say its not supported for the type of processor our phone comes with

if u want to use flash to cross the pesky download waiting counter and other necessities of browsing then use opera mobile it has built in flash
if u want to see videos then use youtube app from stock firmware
there is no SEPARATE flash support for our phones but apps which already have flash integrated in them will work
I have repurposed my old streak as a media player, and I intend to use it at work. running a dynex cable from the headphones jack to a logitech speaker. what is the best, easiest way to make the volume output louder? running 2.2.2 froyo stock no root. dsp won't take, most android play store apps not compatible with os. please advise.
Droid Razr - ICS, Root
What do you mean "dsp won't take"? Perhaps a typo and you meant "DSC won't take"? Regardless, run the ROM of your choice at the default resolution (160 dpi) and those incompatible apps will suddenly become compatible.
I think the easiest way to make the Streak really louder is to upgrade to GB, and DSC has the DSC Gain Tool that can make your Streak louder than you can make it with any other tool, because DSC Gain controls Hardware parameters.
There are many tutorials on how to upgrade you ROM, in essence the easiest way is to upgrade to stock 407 (using updage.pkg and stock recovery of version 350, stock and custom recovery can be easily flashed using MultiRecoveryFlasher (also on forum) ) and then flash a custom recovery (ex. StreakMod, also with MRF). After that flash the apropiate version of DSC (i think v1.0 can be flashed as a whole, and after that the upgrade), and if you want some quality, you can find Beats Audio for Streak here on forum (works fine on DSC and CM7 and i think all GB ROM's).
For more details check a complete tutorial, here is a good place to start, this ^ is just a summary.
Hope this helps and answers your question

I'm sorry, I was referring to dsp manager, which I have run on both a Droid X and Droid Razr. I'm pretty sure I used to use it on the streak as well, but I was using streakdroid roms back then.
