New HD2 Owner (T9193) - HD2 General

Just a couple quick questions, please.
Ordered a T9193 from AU (Telus ROM, if I'm not mistaken) and it will be arriving in a few days. But with all the knockoffs out there, I'm wondering if any of you have heard anything about the HD2 being a target of counterfeiters. I would think not because of the new hardware and the cost of it, but you never know.
Also, if any of you guys have a 'FAQ for new HD2 owners who are on AT&T', that would be great. Just wondering if there are any settings, ROMs or applications I should be loading up.
Thanks!

Bill, did you get your phone yet and if so, I could use a little help if you've got a little spare time.
Tell Opus I said hi by the way
Thanks
George

George, I'm at your service. How can I help?

Ok boss, here's what I need or have problems with..
"Does anyone have the HTC Touch HD2 T9193?
If so, could you show me what the screen looks like with the fonts set at max size?
There's also supposedly a feature that lets you enlarge the screen 200% and I would love to see some pics of what that looks like 'cause I really have a problem finding a phone where the stuff on the screen is big enough for me to see without glasses.
Maybe someone could do this and put it on a scanner so I can get a good picture to scale? I could then download a pic of an iPhone and scale it to size and compare the two side by side."
My problem is I can't see anything without glasses and the reason I got an iPhone a couple of years ago which was borderline in font size at the time. My eyes have gotten worse since then and besides, I hate the damn iPhone. Worse PHONE I've had.
Great at other stuff but as a phone, it's a piece of $hit!
Funny considering it's got PHONE in the name...
Thanks Bill
George

George, the built in (Windows Mobile) font size control applies only to text in applications, not the text for displays like icons or other informational labels. However, if you can track down a shareware utility called "Advanced Configuration" by Julian Schapman, I believe it has the ability to do what you need. If not, I'm sure there's a tweak for that somewhere around here, and if one doesn't already exist, this is the place to ask to get one done for you.
BTW, my eyes aren't what they used to be twenty years ago, either, which is why I went with the big screen of the HD2. We're in the same boat/

Here's the problem Bill. Ever since I started looking for a good phone some 3 years ago, I've never been able to find something that would give me larger fonts and info.
Screens have always been big enough but the space allowed for a phone number, picture of the person calling or something has always been limited.
I got help a few years ago by Negri Electronics (negrielectronics.com) and they recommended the iphone which WAS a good choice for font size and so on.
Anyway, in iPhone all that was better but still left a bit to be desired because there WAS more space available but lots of it was wasted.
I am now on the lookout for a new phone and again the same problem.
I found the program you mentioned and NOT a word about making stuff bigger... http://www.touchxperience.com/en/applications/advanced-configuration-tool.html
As for getting someone here to write something or hack it, that's all good but I would have to first BUY the damn thing so I can see how software works on it and what if it doesn't work?
The problem is, I have no way of KNOWING that I'll get this resolved
Hell, I posted a thread here asking for help (not this thread, another one but I can't post the link as it won't let me) and still not even one answer. The internet is great but sometimes, it can take AGES to get something resolved
THanks
George

Well I guess your answer is that
the HD2 is as big as you are going to get until they get a phone app for the iPad.

George, it sounds like you haven't seen the HD2 in person yet. The first thing I'd recommend is to find someone who has one (even if it means going to a Tmobile store) and look at the phone in person.
With regard to the Advanced Configuration Tool, if you look under the list for 'user interface', you'll see a selection for: vertical icon spacing, horizontal icon spacing and icon title font size. However I don't know if this will work with the HD2's interface so you'll have to ask of someone who uses it.
I'm willing to bet that what you want can be done. It's probably just some settings in the registry that you can change, or find a utility that provides a user-friendly interface to change settings such as the ACT or BSB Tweaks.
A last resort would be to hire a ROM chef to cook up a basic interface for you which would accommodate your needs. Might cost you some money, but it would get you exactly what you need. Try touching base with the developer of Co0kie's Home Tab and/or one of the better known ROM chefs (look in the HD2 ROM Development forum here) to see if you can find someone to work with.
Other than that, I'm pretty much out of ideas.

The HD2 is in comparaison to for example the Diamond 2 or any other previous HTC phone 'huge'. Font sizes on these previous versions are much smaller.
Once you get used to the HD2 you realize how small those older models' screens and letters really are..

THanks guys.
Then there's the small matter of the 8-900 bucks for the phone but that's another issue.
How much do you think I would have to pay someone to mod this for me and would you possibly have a couple of links for me as I'm not sure even who, what and where these people are?
I will post something on the forum of that advance software site, thanks
By the way, the local stores don't have the 9193 and the other stuff they have isn't working. Dummies only. Eh, dummy phones I mean

George, be creative here and make your own solution. Here are two choices on how to go about it.
1) Post an inquiry to meet up with someone in your area explaining that because of your eyesight you wanted to see an HD2 in action to see if it's right for you. If you happen to be in the NJ, Southern NY or Norteastern PA areas, I'd be glad to meet with you so you can see mine.
-or-
2) Just go to a Tmobile store, tell them you're thinking about buying the phone, that you have bad eyesight and you wanted to see a functioning unit to tell if it's right for you and you can operate it with your eyesight being as it is. Obviously don't mention that you're intending to go with an AT&T carrier, but then again, Tmobile is a great provider and unless you're in a bad area I see no reason why you shouldn't consider them.
As to finding a chef, just put a post in the ROM Development forum. There are many known chefs such as Dutty, Artemis, Energy and others who may be more than happy to code something for you at a price. How much? I don't know, but hell - they do it for free and post their stuff on the forum here for nothing for the benefit of all of us with nothing asked in return but a good will donation, so I'm sure you can work something out.
Pricing on the phone is steep but you can get a T9193 for about $700. I bought mine from this guy via Ebay for $740-ish delivered to my door, but if you shop around and wait it out, I've seen buyers get them for as low as $600.
http://cgi.ebay.com/Unlocked-HTC-HD...wItem&pt=AU_Mobile_Phones&hash=item4aa0aa52ec
I mean, really - it's not that complicated, unless you're intentionally trying to make it hard on yourself. You'll never get anything if you don't ask for it, earn it, or make your own luck. Just be persistent and you'll find it'll be worth your while, no matter what the end result. The victory is in the trying.

Yep, you're right but all this is new to me.
Other things that I have more experience with, I can find easier but all this is new and I'm a bit lost.
I just want to narrow it down so I post in the right place and so on because some post I've made, I have had NO response too so no matter if I tried, it didn't work.
For instance, I'm looking for this ROM development forum or threads and I can't find it. I'm guessing you're talking about the windows software development forum/section?
Also, I was scrolling down and looking at the phone specific forums and I can't even tell which phone is which. It's not that easy bro. Well, for me it's not.
Some things I'm good at and others, I'm not.
I'm not really that lazy. I do a lot of research on the web but man, it gets tiring when you only get bits and pieces and you're going back and forth. Anyway, I'm just trying to explain. I will continue as I DO need a phone.
Where should I post to find someone in my area?
The local store didn't have one when I was there a couple of days ago.
Thanks
George

By the way, I just called the t mobile store I was at on monday and the guy confirmed that his phone that he showed me was the HD2 and whatever was on his screen, I had a real hard time seeing, even the icons were too small for me to distinguish.

New HTC T-Mobile Wing & User

Hello everyone,
yes i am a new user and subscriber. i purchased the wing about a month ago and so far i like it, but there are some things that i need to address. first, there is a memory problem that from what i have read, is common. i have a 2Gig microSD and most of my videos are on there. i am using TCMP to play movies. i was wondering what to use to get the best speed and usability out of my wing. what is safe to delete to make this thing race. again, i am just getting into the terminology (kitchens, cookbooks etc.), so please bear with me. a quicky, how do i get to the registry? and does the iphone theme really work good for this phone?
thanks everyone for any help

I suggest a custom rom. The T-mobile stock rom is not very good. I'm currently using Open Touch 4.0 by TTRAN and im loving it!
I'm a new Wing user also. I've had mine for a few days and i'm absolutely clueless when it comes to the rom's and making your phone look completely different. I read a little, but to someone who doesn't know all that lingo.. it's like a foreign language somewhat.. lol. Not that bad, but you know what I mean. I'm sure i'll figure it out eventually, but as of now? I'm clueless. I was told I need to HARD SPL my phone or something and I have no idea what that means or how to do it, lol. I downloaded a few things and got them to work though. But like I said, that's it.
Follow instructions. I understand people don't want to potentially "break" their phone ... but this stuff is TOO easy. Don't be scared of it.

Yeah. Well I was gonna ask you for some help (you seem to like helping people and you seem to know what you're talking about), but I can imagine how many people do that. I know how it is to be asked how to do stuff when it's very easy to begin with. I've been an admin on online games and stuff, so that part I understand. There just seems to be so many things you can do to this phone and to most people, they probably have no idea where to begin.
I was able to download a few cab's and get them to work, which was cool. I have my Wing overclocked right now at 247 I believe. Then I have a few other nice things. I use the Palringo for AIM and that's nice. I can't wait to change the overall look though. I'm not just confused on how to do it in general, but i'm also wondering whether or not you're supposed to use certain .cab's with certain rom's and all that. Ya know?

Find out which rom your interested in using and you will usually find a faq and instructions on how to flash the rom on the first post. I use Open Touch and followed the instructions to the T on my first flash and had no problems. Like Duprade said it really isnt that hard. Dont let the big bold red messages scare you. The cooks are just covering their behinds just in case you miss an instruction and brick your phone.
islinx, whats overclock? you are in the same boat as i am (glad to have you). i have also installed some roms, but i am ready for the big facelift now. i will do some searching and try to find a cool & simple look. i ran across a "show your today screen" post, but i lost it. they had some really really nice ones. i'll check back later. thanks for all the posts.
DK
Check the thread with all the .cab files and you'll find the download to overclock your phone.

I will be home from my trip to MIAMI tomorrow ... so who ever needs help or questions answered, just catch me online and IM me and i'll give you a hand.
Doesn't matter anymore, lol. I deleted everything off the phone, put the plastic back on and i'm sending it back today. As much as I LOVED the phone, i'm not gonna keep it and feel like I got ripped off. I used a promotional code when I got the phone. That was the reason I was getting the phone at this point in time to begin with. If I wanted to pay the normal $300 for the phone + activation, I would of went to the store and got it THAT day. But I called over the phone with a promotional code to get the Wing for $100 after $50 rebate, free activation and a free bluetooth headset or car charger. The customer service rep. told me the promotional code was taken and I was all set. I'd get my phone within 4 days. I did get it 4 days later and yesterday I called them back just to make sure the promotional code took effect and I was getting some money back.
Long story short, I must of got transferred like 7 times on the phone and I was on it for about an hour. Nobody knew what to say and I had to explain my situation each time. The customer service lady basically lied to me because the promotional code all of a sudden isn't a working one. I've seen other people online use the same code and it worked for them. Recently too. Big surprise there. If I wasn't saving money for a new car in April, I would have kept the phone. But a couple hundred dollars makes a huge difference.
Thanks for your help anyway though.

Selling my Hermes/TyTN on eBay and need your advice

Before I list it, I want to make it look like the nicest phone on the market.
I already unlocked it but now I'm looking for the best ROM to make it stand out of the crowd. I was thinking about Schap's but I don't know many ROMs.
Can you guys give advice?
Thanks in advance!
-Nick
I don't think it really matters... What you're asking about is eye candy, skins, today apps and such. Do a search on skinning. Ultimate Launch, RLToday, Manilla Touchflow 2d - these are a few Apps that make the today screen more funtional. You need to look at the skins developed for them to get a good idea.
Cheers...
Yes but I also want cool functionality out of the box so the buyer has it all after a hard reset.
The rom you like may not be the rom someone else likes. It depends on the person who wins it. If I got it, I can guarantee that it wouold be looked at quickly then reflashed within 10 minutes of me getting it. Most people I know who have this type of phone don't even know how to reflash , or are too scared to. I had 2 people who got a Jasjam because I got one and showed them what you could do with it. I ended up being tech support for them and still am even though I left that workplace.
My advice, Hr the device, put on a today replacement that you think looks good and put a picture on ebay. Anyone hardcore will probably have a new os on it pretty quick but someone who has no idea will leave it as is.
Cheers...

That's a good idea indeed, but what about WM6.1?
Just the sight of it make some go crazy. In the condition my phone is, I might be able to get in the 300's.
I might find the simplest 6.1 ROM (I downloaded S64's ROM, don't know about the others) and load it in there. Then I'll take a video, put it on YouTube and add it in the listing.
I plan on adding it to the header.
To say I paid this phone 180$ a year ago... (plus 50$ worth of shipping charges for repairs)
I like S64's ROMs but they can be PACKED with 3rd party apps... I tend to find my hermes runs a little slow with his ROMs. Try a lite version though, they're still pretty packed but don't have the apps you don't need.
Personally I'd try a PDAViet rom, something like OS 5.2.20226 (Build 20226.1.3.0 PV DVH) Diamond(01) 3G 6MB PP. A little old, I know, but stable and has a lot of things you want. You can also add other apps on the memory card as cab files to be installed as needed.
Cheers...
You can find other 6.1 ROMs in the WM06 forum. Ask yourself "What do you think the rom needs to have if I went to buy this phone?", Then make sure it has this.

If you have demoed an HD2, please post here saying when and where

I'd like to get a list of which shops in which cities actually have HD2's available for demonstrations. (Personally I'd like somewhere in London, but other people will want them in other places!)
Obviously feel free to tell us what you thought of the phone when you demo'ed it.

Got one to test
I have been playing with it since last week, and some things are great - somethings I dont like. I don't really want to say much as it may not be final software.
I have to say I'm very suspicious of all these people who claim to have a device 'but can't say anything because they might get into trouble'...
I believe Belafont because at the very least he posted pics and feedback....

You could still say but put a disclosure that it might not be the final ROM.
To be fair, the release date is just around the corner so we'll get more answers soon.
There's supposed to be another announcement on the 4th Nov, not sure what other details they can give but still going ot be interesting nonetheless.
exactly my point, if wildwayz has one as he claims, why doesn't he tell us about it...show us some pics etc....
with the release just around the corner, what difference would it make to divulge some info?
chill guys

And before you ask - no I aint got one

Show you some photos? What of? The outside of the case?
I DO have one - even posted a photo of the battery in another thread. I just installed the final ROM on the HTCPedia site - which has fixed the issue with Panoramic Photos.
Not played too much with the final ROM tho...
The reason I can't say too much is because it was a test ROM and I don't want to say anything negative about it as it doesnt give HTC fair chance to correct the issues.
What do you want to know about the HTC HD2? I'll try to answer it as best I can - bare in mind, I am new to Windows Mobile (Last time I used one, was back in the days of the PDAs ).
Speaking as the OP, I'm actually not very intererested in people who claim to have an HD2 "on test"; the main motivation behind this thread is to identify places (e.g. shops) where members of the general public can go to get HD2 demos of their own. In the early stages of a phone's release cycle, even if a given chain sells the phone, any given branch may well not have enough of them to be able to offer demonstrations. If we can find which places do, that'll be a good start.

I want to ask about screen material..
Is it made a tempered glass or flexy-plastic ??
May I humbly suggest that we don't attack every single person who comes to the forum and says he has the device, immediately declaring his/her words to be a hoax? Each and every one of us can make their own judgment, believe what we read or not, but this thread is asking for user experience, and I simply don't see the point in discouraging people right away. Also, demanding proof is kind of silly. If I had the device and read this thread, I'd most probably just leave - I certainly wouldn't bother to take pictures of myself with the phone or prove that I have it in any other way.
We're all anxious to get our hands on the beast, but let's be reasonable!

Tempered glass - well it feels like the iPhone. I think it may have some kinda special coating on it - smudges show up, but in the morning they are gone (Pilkinson make some glass like that, I believe).
Plus it is capacitive.
When you factory reset it, the setup wizard is very similar to the Hero - asks you to test the typing etc, choose mobile operator, connect to wi-fi then set up GMail, Exchange or another email account.
You can remove items from the Sense bar - so if you dont use Twitter etc, they can be removed.

Will do - but won't it conflict with the SENSE UI?
That's exactly why you are asked to try running it - to find out whether it conflicts with Manila.
I think you'll need to disable it to run SPB Shell properly. Previously it was done in Settings - Personal - Items - uncheck TouchFLO3D.

one question I do have is about the notification LED.
on previous WM phones (I'm thinking of my Orbit in particular) there were two LEDs. These were used for notification of charging, power, sms, bluetooth etc.
the original HD only had one, and it was very small and hard to see
how big and easy to see is the LED on the HD2?
...is there something to win for the best OT?

wow, multitouch like iphone and the lovely 1ghz processor is the reason I'm willing to sell my Touch HD for the HD2. And wow, so happy to hear that it is tempered glass and not the bull**** resistive multitouch screen someone has been claiming.

Yeah I always found it pretty weird that some people were convinced that the HD2 carried a resistive touch screen when HTC themselves had gone on record saying that it was capacitive. Just proves how ignorant some people can be.
Got to try out the phone at the local expo over the weekend in Helsinki and pre-ordered one today. Was very impressed by the performance and looks of the HD2.

Taking the plunge.... A few questions...

As mentioned I am trying to uck up the courage to go for the hd2!
My worries: (and I hoped you experts will be able to help me out!!)
1) large thread on vodaphone website suggesting (from what I can make out!) the hd2 has been abandoned (some suggest irreperable h/ware issues?)
the reviews I hve read rate this phone so highly so it's a shame if this is the case!
2) pink tinge on camera - is this hard or firmware and is the issue fixed?
3) played with a demo unit in the o2 store and the browser pinching doesn't work! Is this likely down to a "demo unit" thing?
4) how does the experience compare to any previous xda users? Had 3 xdas in the past including an orbit and ended up ditching them because of poor browser and crap data rates!
5) any recommendation on the difference between networks welcomed in terms of data as on an unlimited iPhone tariff which ends now so was using my collateral with that to source the phone!
Kind thanks for your thoughts, advice and recommendation!!!

It varies from phone to phone, as to how serious this actually is. The camera fix has definitely improved things though, and a couple of setting changes make it pretty much disappear. Personally, it's never been bad enough for me to see it as an issue, and since the fix I really couldn't care less if it is there or not, as pics are looking a LOT better!

Pinching works on Opera, but not on IE. There is a system style pinch-to-zoom that you can enable on most apps, but it's not the same and, in my opinion, a bit of a blag. When it is real, it looks great. Opera has become my favourite mobile browser since getting this phone.

Data rates, well that's down to your provider isn't it. As far as browsers go, the massive screen, pinching to zoom, and the overall speed of Opera make browsing on this phone a real joy. I started my xda journer with a Touch Diamond, moved to a HD, and then on to the HD2, and it's just got better and better every time!

I'm afraid that's where I bottom out. I've gone for a basic tarrif on a monthly rolling contract so that I'm not tied to any one provider. I currently use O2 and find them cheap and have had no problems with them (except 1 day where I couldn't get HSPA at work). I get HSPA coverage everywhere I normally go, and that's the most important thing for me. Basically, shop round and see what suits you. I don't think anyone can really answer this question - just advise you.
All-in-all GET IT!!! Hahaha. Like I explained, my xda journey has been a good one, where each phone blew the last phone away. This is the biggest leap I've had so far, in terms of performance and just generally being happy and impressed with the phone.
Yeah, there are some issues, mainly due to the fact that the phone is so new, but I bet 90% of people on here would rather have a phone with some bugs now, than wait till March next year before they get it.
Good luck on finding a good deal. Hope you get it sorted mate
Hello and Welcome,
I know how you feel about plucking up the courage to take the plunge. The press reviews are very positive; however users on here tell a different story which is a mixed bag.
If you are happy to take the time to tweak the device to get around some of the known problems then that's a positive. If you don' feel able to do so then you might want to hold fire until HTC have all the issues ironed out.
I suggest you do the following:
- start by reading this thread end to end...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=583638
- when done take a look at the first few pages of each sub forum of the LEO forum to get a summary of where people are at with this device
- then search for 2 threads which are both polls: one is on the sms problem and the other is on (I think) peoples overall views of the HD2.These should help give you a sense of balance and perspective.
Once you have done all this you should be able to judge for yourself whether you want to take the plunge or not.
By the way, tip on asking for help on here is to search first then, if you can't find what you are looking for come back, tell us where you have searched and we will help you out. I don't have a problem answering questions but you might get slaughtered/flamed by others who are not so patient.
Come back if you need more info.
All the best.
WB
I agree with the other comments. If you want the best phone out right now this is it despite some problems.
I would add that GPS is awsome I get signals inside buildings now and the large screen is great. To get it running the way I want I had to load the unoficial 1.61 TUR-WWE Rom as I had problem with bluetooth.
Its slightly too big for my tastes having jumped direct from a diamond but this is a personal preference. Also the glass screen 'seems' fragile Ie. Im always carefull not to drop it, I used to throw my diamond about everywhere.

Well, it all seems to be down to not being able to get stock? Well, the real deal IMHO is that they are about to launch another certain phone which is rather good at most of the things the Touch HD2 is good at. I reckon this is the real reason, they don't want to water down their iPhone launch.
There is PLENTY of Sim Free stock around, cheapest I found 2 days ago was Insight UK, £482 and £17 cashback if you go via Quidco.

Not had a chance to play yet, only had it a full day so far. Other reading I have done suggests its pretty much fixed. Lets face it, you don't get a WM device for great photos, but this seems to be best one so far.

Almost certainly using IE and not Opera?

As other people say, data rates down to your Telco, but I will say in early testing here, the wi-fi pick up is easily the best WM device I have ever used, it finds it everytime you turn back on, not always the case with WM, and something the iPhone has always done superbly.

Well I am gonna see how long I can use it WITH my iPhone SIM before getting a warning from O2
But, IF you do not make many calls and texts (like me), it can be worth running devices like this with a SIM from a Mobile Broadband dongle.
I have a 3UK one which has 5GB of data for £7.50 a month, calls and texts are 20p I think but I use so few it dows not matter.
I also use a Vodafone PAYG one which you just top up £15 and it lasts ages, not so sure about phone calls though.
Over on my blog at http://www.kevwright.com I have been trying to dump an iPhone 3GS for a while now, and will shortly start adding entries from the HD2 vs the iPhone to go along with the current ones comparing S60 phones with the iPhone. May be of interest.

Kind thanks for your thoughts, advice and recommendation!!![/QUOTE]
Wow, i can't thank you all for your thoughts, tips and advice
I remember why i joined here five years ago.
Sorry if it seemed i posted questions when info is still readily available, but i have scoured scores of pages on o2 and vodaphone and felt i would get a more definitive and exact answer here as it was blowing my brain!
Going to O2 tomorrow as they are in stock got a choice of free at £45 or £93 phone on £35! Quite excited, need to buy lots of 16gb memory cards now!

Is this still a good phone to buy ?

Is the HD2 still a good smart purchase nowdays with the androids and the Iphone 4 ?
It will be used for:
1. Book reading **
2. GPS
3. Phone calls
4. SMS/EMAIL/MSN Messenger
THAT IS ALL.
** Anyone know of good Ebook reading apps for HD2 ?
Thanks !
ιf u go to a lockal phone store u can see it n use it for testing etc, personaly i d buy it one more time if i had to buy a phone now..
i love the big screen n how quick it is but most of all i like thet u can do so much customizations.

Hey! It's a great for all these:
e-books: Check out AlReader2 - I'm addicted to it as a book-reader, and have churned through so many books on it. If you struggle finding it, PM me or look at my message history, I posted it somewhere (it's freeware).
GPS: Well I have TomTom, which I paid for, which is perfect. There's others out there ranging from free/cheap/pricey. And Google Maps works great with GPS, altho it's not suitable for car navigation unless you're happy with the top-down view.
Phone: No problems at all.
email: Fantastic, both for Outlook and other mail. Some people (and I'm one of them) find the keyboard a bit buggy, but it's replacable, and as an Email reader/short replies it's perfect.
I probably could go into more detail but me tired!

(what i am about to do is a pet hate of mine) +1
The customization point is a bit extreme tbf. Yes, i would advise reading through the tips and tweaks threads (both performance and general) and yes, it helps if you spent a hour or so familiarising yourself with the UI and your hardware and software versions but once done it's a case of take yout time over it. The HD2 is the fastest smartphone (raw power wise) on the market ATM and that includes the iPhone 4G. It just takes a little bit more love to get how you want it then most other phones (tbh that's windows mobile all over). If you can accept that fact then buy a HD2 ASAP. if not enjoy you nokia or iphone. From experience i know i wouldn't
Thanks guys I think I am going to go for it.
Can I see some screenshots from the ebook reader ?
Also, can it withstand a random drop from ear-height ? Is that glass ultra-fragile ?

It's not "ultra fragile", but it's glass anyway. Depending how the phone will touch the ground it can break or not. But from what I've seen it's pretty resistant for little accidental drops.
Sorry - would love to set you up with a screenshot but I just read this and it's 4am now
Will try in the morning (or afternoon!) if I don't get called into work. I did hunt in Google Images for you when I did my OP but none showed it off in it's best light (e.g. full screen on the HD2's luscious screen.
Cracking the screen-wise, all I can suggest is to look after it - but anecdotally, while there's a lot of threads on here from people who have sadly dropped and cracked it, there's also a lot from people who have accidently dropped it onto hard ground from shoulder-height who are impressed to see not a single scratch or dent. I believe the biggest factor is if the screen lands on one of it's corners or falls flat onto something sharp.
Will try for a screengrab tomorrow
EDIT: Found a way! Bear in mind it's a low-res pic, looks crystal clear in real life.. There's loads of options like font size, background colour, line-spacing, and then you use swipes etc. to move the page/chapter.
Excellent |! Thanks |!
u deserve an iphone
I love my HD2 it is absolutly the best phone i have ever owned I have customized it to my every need thanks to xda-developers...
so go buy one, the iphone will bore you in a month

It depends on the high and angle you drop it at, but the general consensus seems to be don't drop your phone. There was a thread where they dropped it from a couch and it broke. I've seen a thread where it broke from some guy getting out of a car (phone was in his lap) and it fell on concrete and broke. A lot of people have cracked their phone and have lambasted to HTC for having such a weak screen.
GPS: Bing has free turn-by-turn directions also.
Hi, not sure it would be a good idea signing up to a long contract at this point when there will be new phones coming a long soon, however the HD2 is probably going to be the last and greatest winmo6 handset available. If winmo6 is your thing then you have to get this Phone.
Well guys thanks to this forum I finally purchased my T-Mobile HD2.
Just pulled it out of the box, and i'm puzzled.
If anyone could direct me to reading materials on Sim Freeing it, adding different language keyboards, etc, i would appreciate it.
(or is everything on the sticky ? )
thanks !
enjoy it then, my advice is keep it stock for a while and then start modifiying it.. search the forum and u find everythin
welcome
Well I'll try.
It's just that I don't want to store stuff on it (contacts, data) when I know a new ROM would delete everything so I want to get this over with now
How do I SIM Unlock it btw ?
getting Hard SPL on and then flashing a cooked ROM should unlock the device for any SIM I believe.
On the subject of ebook readers, just a little plug for Freda.
