alarm at full volume at start? - Nexus One General

My alarm on my nexus goes off at full volume when its time to go off... really annoying
Shouldn't it gradually increase

No, that's how it's meant to be.

I am pretty sure there is an alarm app that goes off gradually.

Backlight

Does anyone know if there is a way to make the backlight stay on while charging. And also keep the phone from locking while charging. I think keeping it from locking would allow the alarm clock to actually wake me up, it shuts off when the screen turns off which is quick when its locked
Under power settings > advanced > uncheck both boxes under "On External Power"

The alarm should work when the phone is locked, I use mine this way all week for work just fine.
Ok thanks got the backlight to stay on. But when the alarm is set it only goes off for about five seconds and the sound shuts off and then displays a message

The Snooze/Dismiss message? What do you have set as the alarm? Is it a short tone or something a little longer?
Here's a good tip for using your phone as an alarm clock.
Set your alarm normally.
Go into power mode and uncheck the box to turn off the device after X time when plugged in.
Leave the turn off backlight box checked and set for 2 minutes when plugged in.
Now once you turn the screen on and the phone is plugged in, after 2 minutes the screen will dim way down and stay on all night making it a great alarm clock. I used an automotive cell phone holder to make the perfect cradle for holding it upright and at a perfect viewing angle. After owning a BB Storm, I just couldn't NOT have this capability... you get spoiled.
This works great.

Alarm clock

Every night I leave my phone on to charge when I go to sleep, and the alarm never seems to sound.
Luckily its not the only thing I have to wake me up so it doesn't cause much trouble but its still annoying.
When I do wake up the alarm dialogue has appeared on screen, but that's it.
What gives?
System volume up high enough?
Alerts volume switched on?
You had the phone in airport mode or fully switched-on?
I had the same this morning, been using the alarm for 2 weeks, no problems. This morning screen lit up then phone froze. reset button didn't cure it, battery out did
This won't happen too many more times before it gets launched back to O2

[Q] Alarm notice

I just want to check with other Atrix owners.
Sometimes the alarm symbol doesn;'t appear in the top right and the time isn't shown on the lock screen. The alarm is still set, but without the feedback, I have to double check to make sure.
Is this an android thing? Motoblur? Atrix?

Wish I could help, but I have it autoset for weekday at 5 am. Always appears for me.
I do have an issue with alarm volume changing to a lower volume when I change the media volume to a lower volume, but it does not increase when I increase the media volume.
Maybe I am just messing it up
I've had the same problem sometimes too
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
dumb question, but my phone hasn't arrived yet.
does the alarm work with the phone off? I mean, if i turn it off, will the alarm turn on the phone and ring, like nearly every phone i have owned?
and no, leaving the phone on at night is not an option for me.
I think if you totally power it off, it stays off.
OTOH if you put the phone in "airplane" mode, and then "shut" the phone by pressing the on/off/lock/unlock button, the whole phone goes black, goes to sleep, but the alarm very much still works & turns it all one again.
AFAIK on this phone, OFF really means OFF. Stone cold dead. Which is OK by me.

Clock + alarm problem

I have problem with alarm clock.
example: I set alarm at 7am, but when I wake up at 7:20, it still havent ringed. I wake up phone (still in lock screen) and I can see how the time changes from 6:xx to 7:20 and then it rings.
Basicly the clock isnt moving up as it should while in sleep mode, so my alarm didnt ring up!
I need help with this!

Same here!
Im using nb 256.
Reboot your phone.
somewhere readed you have to "volume up" while in alarm - tryed, it doesnt help. Today woke up at 7:14, alarm was at 7:15 - it even didnt ring at that time...
Trying reboot
Sometimes it happened to my phone but most time it rings correctly. This might happened when some apps/services stuck in the background so the clock also stuck. So, if there is lots of apps installed there is great chances of clock stuck. A good auto app killer may help.
You must not kill the Clock process with any task killer! I had the same problem because I've killed my Clock process

Alarm clock?

This is very important in choosing my next phone. I use my alarm clock for work. I do snooze a couple times when it goes off. I've always had a home button on my galaxy phones to snooze. How do you snooze on the axon 7 and how is the alarm clock?

You can snooze by simply flipping the phone over on it's face. The alarm clock is fine, it can be a bit loud due to the front speakers.
You can also snooze by tapping anywhere on the screen.
Side note as alarm is important for you: you'll surely rejoice to know that the alarm can go off even when the phone is OFF. It will turn the phone on about 5min prior to going off.
You can also install an alternative alarm/clock. I've installed Google's clock and it also provides the option to snooze alarms by pressing a volume key (up or down).
