Backlight - Imagio General

Does anyone know if there is a way to make the backlight stay on while charging. And also keep the phone from locking while charging. I think keeping it from locking would allow the alarm clock to actually wake me up, it shuts off when the screen turns off which is quick when its locked

Under power settings > advanced > uncheck both boxes under "On External Power"

The alarm should work when the phone is locked, I use mine this way all week for work just fine.

Ok thanks got the backlight to stay on. But when the alarm is set it only goes off for about five seconds and the sound shuts off and then displays a message

The Snooze/Dismiss message? What do you have set as the alarm? Is it a short tone or something a little longer?

Here's a good tip for using your phone as an alarm clock.
Set your alarm normally.
Go into power mode and uncheck the box to turn off the device after X time when plugged in.
Leave the turn off backlight box checked and set for 2 minutes when plugged in.
Now once you turn the screen on and the phone is plugged in, after 2 minutes the screen will dim way down and stay on all night making it a great alarm clock. I used an automotive cell phone holder to make the perfect cradle for holding it upright and at a perfect viewing angle. After owning a BB Storm, I just couldn't NOT have this capability... you get spoiled.
This works great.

8125 stuck with no disply

Today I had an alarm set, when the alarm went off I tapped hit the power button on the top of my phone to turn the screen off (and hopefully the alarm... but only the screen went off). The alarm continued to go, but no matter what I did, I couldn't get the screen to come back on.
I can fully interact with the phone (as if the screen was on). For example, pressing talk twice redailed my last call. Pressing power prompted to shut the phone off (could hear the "blurp"), etc.
So, after shutting the phone off (or resetting with pinhole reset), the display works fine while it is displaying the "Cingular - Raising the Bar" nonsense. As soon as that screen is done (where it would have normally showed the today screen), the screen just goes off...
Any ideas?

nevermind, when I put it under a bright light I realized the screen was on, the backlight was just off... somehow I must have hit some shortcut to turn the backlight off.

Say hello to the Backlight bug.
You're backlight will keep setting itself to the lowest setting after every soft-reset, when you let it go into stand-by itself.
I'm still sufferering from it. It started when i first installed PocketZenphone.
So just want to give u a warning. Everytime you reset your phone, remember not to let it go into standby itself. Either tap the power button and turn the screen off, then turn it on agan. Otherwise, the Backlight will go to low again.

Turn Universal on/off by opening/closing Lid

Hi all,
I upgraded to an O2 Exec a little over a week ago from a Blue Angel.
Initially I had a few concerns about it, but thankfully I found this forum, and have managed to get a number of enhancements, from increased storage and better radio (v1.09) to being able to turn on the flash light using a hardware button. My Exec is now running faster than my Blue Angel ever did, and hasn't frozen once. I've already become quite attached to it.
One thing that I think would be useful would be to have the unit turn on when the lid is opened, and off when it is closed. In the Power settings you can uncheck the box that turns off the device if it is not used for x mins, which has the effect that the screen will come on whenever the lid is opened. However, because the device is still running the battery still takes quite a hit even though the screen is turned off, and even when you lower the cpu speed.
Is it possible to turn the device on and off by opening and closing the lid?
Cheers

Hi, I have mine set to come on and off when you open close the lid, and it's set exactly how you have said. Power settings, and stop the device going off. And Backlight settings, stop the backlight dimming, and lower the backlight when on battery mode.
There is no "off" mode like Nokia handsets, only Standby, which is what happens when the screen is closed. (I think).

You're not really going into standby mode by closing the case, try switching on wifi or bluetooth and look at the flashing indicator LED, it will still be going whien the case is closed. Nowtap the power button to put the device into standby, no more flashing LED. The phone LED still flashes which is a good thing otherwise you wouldn't be able to recieve calls in standby.

From what I know, the Universal has no real OFF mode, only standby, EVEN WHEN YOU PRESS THE POWER BUTTON. On mine, BT and WiFi still flashes even when I press the power button or just close the screen.
Pressing and holding the power button turns the backlight off, a quick press (or tap as I said before) makes it go to standby and should turn off everything but the phone part.
Okay well weve taken a really fun detour discussing the technicalities of standby and 'power off' but lets digress for a moment back to the original topic...
Rabangus, seems the best option you have is what you were doing. The hit to battery shouldnt be that large. I gave it a try not too long ago the way you and the other member had it set up again, and yes youll definitely have to charge it every night but it was doable. But I wasnt using wifi or bluetooth either. I am surprised that using Xscaler it still takes way to much battery. I assume thats what you are using to lower the CPU.
Oh well unfortuntely thats the way it is chief.

Screen timeout for messages

Today I was texting and when I got a text I would grab the phone and try to type but as soon as I got to the phone the screen turned off. seemed like the timing is like a few seconds too short. Is there a way to change this setting? It's not the normal screen timeout. Thanks in advance.
on a side note... has anyone found a way to turn off the battery notifications for low power and fully charged.

[Q] Alarm notice

I just want to check with other Atrix owners.
Sometimes the alarm symbol doesn;'t appear in the top right and the time isn't shown on the lock screen. The alarm is still set, but without the feedback, I have to double check to make sure.
Is this an android thing? Motoblur? Atrix?

Wish I could help, but I have it autoset for weekday at 5 am. Always appears for me.
I do have an issue with alarm volume changing to a lower volume when I change the media volume to a lower volume, but it does not increase when I increase the media volume.
Maybe I am just messing it up
I've had the same problem sometimes too
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
dumb question, but my phone hasn't arrived yet.
does the alarm work with the phone off? I mean, if i turn it off, will the alarm turn on the phone and ring, like nearly every phone i have owned?
and no, leaving the phone on at night is not an option for me.
I think if you totally power it off, it stays off.
OTOH if you put the phone in "airplane" mode, and then "shut" the phone by pressing the on/off/lock/unlock button, the whole phone goes black, goes to sleep, but the alarm very much still works & turns it all one again.
AFAIK on this phone, OFF really means OFF. Stone cold dead. Which is OK by me.

[Q] Screen turns on when battery is fully charged

Hi everyone,
i had the same problem with my S2, but is there any way to keep the screen from turning on when the battery is fully charged? I understand it's a "feature" to make me unplug the charger, but it's really annoying when the screen turns on in the middle of the night. So far i've been placing the phone face down, so it won't wake me up, but that's not really the solution i'm looking for.

It does turn back off in a few seconds (after the screen times out), right?
Honestly not sure how this little light can wake you up
In any case, did you try some of the apps for the older galaxies, like Battery Silencer?
Another suggestion would be to turn on for the night the Blocking Mode in settings , and configure it to suppress notifications.

In developer options you need to turn off "always awake" or the phone "wakes up" when it has charged.
If you can't see developer options in settings / other, tap build number 7 times and it will appear
Thanks for the quick replies.

My sleep isn't very deep unfortunately... Yeah it dows turn back off after a few seconds, but it still wakes me up.
As far as I understood, those silencer apps and the blocking mode only supress the sound of the notification or do they also keep the screen from turning on?

The "always awake" option is already unticked, but the screen still keeps turning on for the timout period

I have that turned off on my phone, and it still wakes up for a few seconds when it's fully charged. Wakes up when I plug in the charger, too. Neither one is a big deal to me, though.

Ahhh .... must be a "design feature" then
I leave my phone in the computer room overnight (don't use it as an alarm) so I've not noticed.
