Youtube videos from the Browser (Opera n etc) - HD2 General

Hey guys, I wanna know if i can play youtube videos in the youtube app after i click on a video on the browser..Like the Ipod.
Basically when i click on the youtube video/link in the Internet browser (Opera) how can i make the video play in youtube app automatically without viewing it on the web browser itself...
Sorry for my bad english
Thanks.

bump....any help ?

2 ways... 1.... make IE your default browser and it will load the mobile version of the youtube site. When you click the video, it will open the youtube app to play or option 2.... Click the link, into opera you go... Change tjhe youtube link that is loaded by adding an "m" in front of youtube. So it should read... www.m.youtube.com.(remainder of the provided link) then it will properly load the mobile youtube link. Click the video and the youtube app will launch.

Cool it worked...Thanks alot for ur help

Ya, like dial-up circa 1995 slow.

i tried going to failtube with ie, it works a lot better than skyfire as far as quality is concerned. in opera, you can do the same by turning on "plug-ins" under the options --> advanced (or something to that end). it works sometimes, other times it doesn't. beats me why.

Youtube
You can't, videos are owned by youtube.
there is a program that lets you do this. its called GETYTV
search for the video on the phone in youtube and then you can download the video as mp4 or whatever so you can bluetooth it to other people or just show it to other people from your memory.

i think that's not exactly what he meant. i think he wants to download the videos he's watching in the youtube-client. what you are proposing only works if you surf to www.youtube.com via opera.
btw: keepvids.com is a good site, too.

you use the GETYTV client to search for the videos and download them that way, so yes you cannot do it using the youtube application and it uses internet explorer by the looks of it. it works and thats it. nothing flashy

Using HTC YouTube app to view embedded YouTube content on a webpage

Hi,
First off, I have done my research! I promised... looked through the posts (Wiki page/Tips & Tricks..) and can't seems to find anything pertaining to this.
What I'd like to know is:
- Is there a way to view YouTube video embedded in a webpage (Web Browsing using Opera Browser that comes with my HD2) by using the inbuilt HTC YouTube app - Eg. tap on the YouTube video on a webpage, HTC YouTube app starting automatically to play the video.
Thanks in advance!
Douglas
Ps. HD2 ROCKS!!!
Hi
As far as i Know (my HD2 is on its way and my HD on Ebay ) the opera doesn't have a flash support yet but the IE mobile browser on HD2 does have flash embedded which means that you get a flash player startet by tapping on your video
I've seen that also on a review on youtube....
Cheers,
LEE
Thanks for your prompt reply.
I'm really want this to work in Opera browser... I suppose such is life...
works perfectly in Opera 10 Beta 2...click the video and it opens in the streaming player.

Hi... Did u have to install anything other than Opera 10 B2? As I'd just tried it out, and YouTube content on the webpage just shows a place holder with text showing "Plug In Content"... Did I do something wrong..?
As far as I'm aware, the only browser which allows this is Skyfire. I use that for video and Opera for all other browsing (as Skyfire is a bit pants really).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=544770
Check out that thread. If you follow all the steps, you can also watch youtube and other flash sites in Opera.
It's also possible with IE and Skyfire.
I would prefer when browsing youtube, that it would open the youtube application, which gives better quality and speed.
The only way I've found for the youtube app to work is to stream from m.youtube.com with opera.
That's the only way I've got it to work its not the best as I hate the layout of mobile youtube but it works, like you, the youtube site on opera doesn't show any clickable links or videos for the hd2's youtube client to work with.
Well yes, I meant on m.YouTube.com, and other mobile sites. On a mobile after all.

And with Opera 10 final?
Tks!
youtube works on Opera 10 without need for m,
Are you sure?
My Opera Mobile 10 doesn't stream youtube, mobile or desktop version.
Having a look to Opera's and other forums, it can't stream youtube...
Mine does, search around this forum for /TX Opera Mobile10 With Flash /in the settings enable Plugins.
but it does stream youtube through the streaming media player instead of the youtube player and the quality is quite decreased....
If it streams via any external player it's ok for me, it is important that it doesn't play in browser, because quality is worst...
It's exactly what I'm searching for, mine actually plays in browser or doesn't play, so, how to make it play in streaming player or youtube or core player?
The latest version of Opera will stream youtube video and depending upon your connection it is either good or bad.......
Are you sure?
My Opera Mobile streams no video...

Is there a way to play YouTube movies directly from Opera?

Ok, so you can install Flash for Opera but it sucks - it makes the phone unstable and slow. However it would be great if you could do the same thing you can do on the iPhone - that is whenever there's a YT movie you see the play icon but when you click on it it opens the YT app and it runs the movie in it not in the browser. Is there a way to do the same thing on HD2 with Opera?

That's not what I'm looking for I think I was misunderstood. Sometimes when you read a page there is a YT movie embedded on it. On the iPhone you can click on it and watch it in the YT application. Here all you have is the border of the movie with no info. So you even don't know the URL of the movie and as result you cannot watch it (well you'd have to view the code of the page and search for the URL).
install skyfire, its much better so long as you don't mind not being able to pinch zoom.

I don't like Skyfire's interface. I'll just have to wait for Opera 10 - if it supports pinch zoom cuz now (in Beta 2) it doesn't...

What you are talking about only works in IE built in on the HD2. I just did it and it worked fine. Check out this short video I just made with it working in IE on the HD2.

No - I meant embedded video files on websites like here for instance: http://prowokacje.com.pl - as you can see if you open this website in Opera you won't be able to view embedded YT videos. As I can see it should work in IE (video in the post above) but IE sucks . I'd like to see the same feature in Opera or Opera opening YT movies in the YT app.

As I already said in the first post fixoperaflash makes the phone unstable and it freezes the browser. YT movies work muuuuch better in the YT app. Ok, I see there's no resolution of my problem right now so I'll wait for Opera 10 with Flash and pinch zoom.
I am also looking for the answer to this. Some cooked ROM's have this working. I know that the stock t-mobile one will NOT do this weather its the mobile youtube or full version in opera. There must be some reg edit that makes this possible. I know IE on the HD2 will do this properly out of the box but I don't use IE for browsing the web on the HD2.

Flash player judder?

I've got the 10.1 flash and it was updated today too but any flash videos I watch are often juddering. It's almost like stop motion animation. Does anyone else's player play ok? If I use skyfire browser they generally play ok but I prefer the stock browser.
Also, on previous phones if I click a YouTube link from a forum the YouTube app would open to play it. On my dhd it goes to the YouTube site to play and then I get the juddery issue above. Is there a way of making the YouTube app open automatically when clicking a link?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
On my phone all the flash videos play fine and in HD. (it played fine with the original flash that came with the phone, but I have now installed the one from the market to be sure to get the latest updates).
As for youtube, all the links open in full screen in the player (sometimes I need to click on the icon to get it to open in fullscreen).
The DHD comes with youtube 1.6, but I have updated it with version 2 from the market.
Could you post a link to a flash video youve watched that played smoothly so i can check mine?
EDIT: for example can you play this video smoothly?

No, this one judders as well. But when you play it there is a popup text that says "This video is not optimized for mobile devices". So, the website is at fault for not providing a web optimized video.
But this is the first time I have a problem with a video, all of the other flash videos I have come across always play properly.
You can try the videos on bbc.com, cnn.com, youtube.com, etc... Either you will get a popup asking you if you want to play the video in the play or you can play it on the page.

It's there, the only youtube version I see on the market is version 2.0.26.
Usually when you can't see something in the market it's because it isn't avaialbe for your area. I don't know if this is the problem you are experiencing.
Google also provides it at m.google.com/youtube , but I don't know if it's the same version.

[HowTo] Watch videos in youtube with higher quality than youtube's application

Ok, some of you may already know about this but allow me please to make this thread for people who dont know and rely on youtube's app to watch their videos. I was constantly being annoyed of watching videos in the official youtube app which are supposed to be hd but they all would look like blurred and of low quality, although i had selected in settings the HQ (High Quality) option. The problem is that these videos are being played in standard 480p definition and there's nothing you can do about it. Here's how its done:
4.2 JB
1) Install Mozilla's Firefox Browser from playstore (unfortunately chrome does not support flash)
2) Download and install manually Adobe's Flash player from here http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/archived-flash-player-versions.html Scroll down where it says Flash Player 11.1 for Android 4.0 and download the latest version 11.1.115.81
3) Open Firefox, go to settings->display->plugins and select enabled
4) Still in Firefox go to tools->Add-ons->Browse all firefox add-ons, search for the add-on Phony and install it
5) Now under settings there is an option named Phony, press it and under Select User Agent chose Desktop Firefox. Finally restart the firefox
4.4 KitKat
1) Install Dolphin Browser and Dolphin Jetpack from the playstore
2) In doplhin's settings menu enable the flash player (always on), enable the dolphin jetpack and select for user agent desktop
3) Install the hacked flash player from here
Now you re set. Put the url of youtube, navigate to the video you want to watch and press the little gear in the bottom right corner of youtube's video, select 720p or 1080p if the video supports it and watch it in really high definition. Needless to say that i never used youtube's app anymore to watch my videos as i can manage my playlists, turn on or off the annotations, put captions etc. like i do in my desktop computer
*ALTERNATIVE APP* If you want to stay away from the trouble of installing flash player and you want to use an app for viewing youtube videos you should check the Viral Floating Youtube Popup app. It supports hd playback, a resizable player to run along with other apps, background playback and many other cool features. Check the developer's original thread here.
You do realize all that is unnecessary, right? All you have to do is install flash, run the native LG browser, and switch to desktop view. Youtube will then allow 1080p resolution via the gear icon.
Fantastic guide, being stuck on 480p was not very helpful as many of the videos for me came out blurry and not to the full definition. Now I am able to watch videos I have uploaded to the internet in full HD, thank you so much for the guide and for it to be in-depth, as I hate guides which are only a few sentences. The 1080p will work best depending on your internet, as I have fast internet in my house so it should not be a problem with lag etc.

Thank you, all I did was install flash and then it worked.
It's completely ridiculous that we have to do even that though, I can't believe that the youtube app's "HD" is still not even proper 720.

480p and 1080p are now not available in any app since google split the streams in to. 720p should work fine. Can you grab a log of the crash?
You can try another way for background play, press the pop-up icon, then in the pop-up window, press minimise.

I switched to your app as pvstar doesnt support hd. I have to admit that your app is the best of its kind, everything is nicely organised and the best feature by far is the background and resizable player, this app is definitely worthy 5 stars. I understand now the reason that you dont have 1080p, anyway there isnt any noticeable difference between 720p and 1080p in this tablet's display. When i had first installed it some weeks ago i noticed that it crashed 2 or 3 times after some long usage and displaying the same error every time, i dont remember it exactly though, something about "we re sorry but the application has crashed"?. I dont know how to take a log if that happens again, maybe you could tell me a way or i could get a screenshot and report it if it happens again. Keep up the good work mate.

On GPE You need a hacked flash player for KitKat. There's download link in OP point 2, here:
[Guide][Flash]How to play flash video on Android 4.4 Kitkat
Install latest Dolphin browser from play store, enable jetpack in settings and flash. I personally set flash in Dolphin 'on demand' just not to see all this flash adverts on web pages.
Works good on my nexus 5.
Ah, that's it. I have 4.3 on the GNex. Thanks for the link to the hacked flash--it's working. The app in the sig, is "viral". It looks cool, but I haven't tried it yet.

Which app and in whose signature do you mean is viral? Did you scan it with antivirus and it dejected some virus on it?
LMT from my signature was the reason I rooted my first phone. It's outstanding with customizations. It works even on not rooted devices (except of back and menu buttons), you can still make shortcuts to lot of apps to start them from pie.
You need root for full functionality.
