I was amazed when I tested Internet Explorer Mobile (the latest build from the HD Mini ROM) and Opera Mobile 10, Opera Mobile 9.7, Skyfire and Opera Mini 5 beta (WM native app) at http://acid3.acidtests.org/
Rendering results are as follows...
Internet Explorer: 5/100
Opera Mobile 9.7: 100/100
Opera Mini (WM native) 97/100
Opera Mobile 10: 100/100
SkyeFire 1.5 (April 7 build) 52/100
how come that is a surprise? especially considering the real internet explorer can't pass that test either......
I was thinking it would score higher than 5/100 and Skyfire did not perform well either.
until microsoft start accepting standards, they'll never pass the acid test. the stubborn [email protected] should just bite the bullet and re write their (rubbish) html rendering engine.
a little surprised by sky fire.

Hi all,
Finally, i've just got the hotest & latest browser for mobile phones: Opera Mobile v9.7 Build 35166 Beta
Opera Turbo in Opera Mobile is still a preview-feature;
Downloads don't work while Opera Turbo is enabled.
Some settings (such as toggle on/off images) do not apply when Opera Turbo is enabled.
On older WM 5.0 Devices with 480x800 resolution, switching between portrait and landscape may cause display errors. This is due to lack of support for this resolution in early versions of Microsoft's driver.
Some input method editors are known not to work well with Opera because they do not comply with Microsoft's SIP and/or IME standard. When such an editor is detected by Opera, Opera will use a known (default) input method instead. An exception is EzInput v1.5, where the phone keypad and compact QUERTY, ABC mode doesn't work, but the rest of the modes work fine. We recommend upgrading to EzInput v2.0 to avoid this.
Only support for FlashLite 3.x. No Flash plugin included.
Widget manager add-on
The Widget manager is an add-on to the browser, so the browser must be installed in order for the widget manager to work.
We recommend disabling Opera Turbo in the browser when using the widget manager.
Rotating widgets does not work properly. Portrait mode should be used when running widgets.
Widgets + Plugins (Flash & Gears) don't work.
Clicking internal links in a widget will launch the browser.
Twitter widget might have login problems on first run. If this happens, just close the Twitter widget (X) and open it again.
Just enjoy & rep+: http://rapidshare.com/files/242198300/operabrowser_wm_97b1.cab
Thanks
and for those who cant access rapidshare http://www.opera.com/mobile/download/
Why is there two threads on this
search please! The other thread is only a few links down
The zoom is overkill, any way to adjust it?
fck opera
tbh fck opera atm theyr bugged like hell check out better Access NetFront 3.5 it its fast and it doesint crash and it downloads fast
yes, it runs very fast, quite amazing. Wait for the official release, not beta
Here is the test on GSM Arena:
Loading GSMArena.com over EDGE:
11s - Opera Mobile 9.7 with Turbo enabled
35s - Opera Mobile 9.7 with Turbo disabled
50s - Internet Explorer Mobile(desktop mode)
With Opera Turbo enabled we get three times faster speeds over EDGE than without it
Loading GSMArena.com over Wi-Fi:
8s - Opera Mobile 9.7 with Turbo enabled
10s - Opera Mobile 9.7 with Turbo disabled
Over Wi-Fi however the difference is not the big at all
Loading Amazon.com over EDGE:
Opera Mobile 9.7 with Turbo enabled 10s
Opera Mobile 9.7 with Turbo disabled 28s
Internet Explorer Mobile(desktop mode) 80s
Again, over EDGE, Opera Mobile with Turbo is three times faster than without it
Two thing become pretty evident from this test. Firstly, Opera are slightly exaggerating the advantage their product has over Internet Explorer but its results remain pretty impressive nonetheless.
On the other hand when a faster data connection (HSDPA or Wi-Fi) is available, enabling Turbo mode becomes pretty much meaningless. You get much worse quality of the images in the pages, while the speed advantage is subjectively nowhere to be seen.

Pity. I'll try tomorrow...
I confirm that it works with Flash lite 3.1
I have the htc hd2.
I browse with the stock opera but i noticed the rendering is awful.
I installed opera mobile 10 and it was worst. Why would opera consider it final
when there is no pinch to zoom and the rendering is the ugliest i have seen?
I tried internet explorer but every site i visit says internet explorer 6 is being phased out blah blah. I have tried to use skyfire but it is SLOW!!!
What do you guys use to browse? anyway to improve rendering on the opera browsers? Anyway to add pinch to zoom on opera mobile 10?
Is like skyfire is the only browser that supports flash and almost every site i visit plays the flash content fine hulu speciually but it is very slow.
Can somebody please help me? help me find hacks that will imrpove my browsing experience?
Unfortunatly Opera 9.7 or w.e version came with the HD2, was specifically made for it, while opera 10 is for every wm phone out there.
My HD2 didn't arrive, but my brother uses the Opera and loves it. Check if you have server side rendering on, which could turn things ugly.
Rendering on the default opera 9.7 is perfectly good for me.
Rendering on Opera 10 is exactly the same as on Opera 9.7. Your network provider is likely to be compressing images so that there's less data usage.
Also, if you open Opera 10, open the menu (wrench icon) and go to settings, advanced and turn on plugins, it will play flash.
Yeah, Opera 9.7 renders images perfectly for me too.
I have tried Opera 7 (has no flash for some reason) and it does not work smooth even though it has multi-touch...
Internet Explorer is a puzzle on it's own - improperly displaying site content - no multi-touch.
Skyfire - kind of sluggish; has problems loading pages ..
All three I have tested on WiFi network ..
Can anyone suggest one good mobile WinMo browser that I can use with enough of the stability not to have headaches?????
Opera 10 all the way
Opera 7?
9.7?
I like 9.7 the best.
10 seems the faster, but 9.7 is better on my eyes.
I really like how much faster Opera mini is, is there anyway to make it the default browser? It doesn't seem to play nice when its installed alongside Opera 10.
Thanks
Opera Mini Default Browser?
I agree. I love how fast Opera mini moves and I like it even better than any of the Facebook apps that I've seen for use with FB, but I don't know how to make it my default browser. Any help?
It should already by the default browser?
it is on mine already

No, it (Opera Mini) should not be already, and very unlikely is on yours.
Two browsers come pre-installed on the TMo HD2. Opera Mobile 9 and Internet Explorer. Opera Mobile 9 is set as the default browser.
Opera Mini is a different browser from Opera Mobile. It used to only run as a java midlet, but now there is a beta available that runs directly in WM.
Confusing, but there are three different Opera browsers that users can use on the phone. Opera Mobile 9 comes with the phone, but one can download and install the newer Opera Mobile 10. One can also install Opera Mini 5, WM version. (Or the java midlet version, for that matter)
i have been using opera mobile 10 and windows explorer as my main browsers and i was getting between 50- 450kbps at mobilespeedtest.com, but today i downloaded opera mini 5 which is great by the way, and ran the test and came up with 1958kbps & 1978kpbs, is this the actuall speed or is opera mini causing it to spike like that.
last time i run the test using IE on my touch pro2 i got 7+MBps.
opera mini fetches the page on their server then sends to your phone, so the speed u got is actually their sever to mobilespeedtest, not actually your phone to mobilespeedtest
The only browser that gives accurate speed test results is Opera Mobile. This is the only browser for WM that does not compress packets or manipulate data links in any way before sending it to your device. All processing is done on the device end. IE compresses data packets before they get to your device giving fluctuating results. Opera Mini, Uzard, and previously Skyfire all render pages remotely and then pass the rendered page onward to the device.
