Lotus Notes via Onebridge on HD2 - HD2 General

Hi There,
I hope to post in the correct section.
My company is using Onebridge client to replicate Lotus Notes e-mails on our mobile phones.
Today, the implemented solution is working fine but on Symbian devices (we're using Nokia E71 phones).
As I was fed up about this one, I've bought from my side a HD2. By browsing the Internet, I've found on the Sybase web site the Onebridge client for Windows Mobile devices as a trial version. I've downloaded it and have installed the CAB into my Leo. Fine !
I've entered the various parameters to contact the server but at a certain point, I've been asked to enter an activation code which I don't have....
How can I get this code knowing that the IT department doesn't want to know more about my idea to swap for the HTC solution....
Thanks in advance for any helping hand.
Cheers from Switzerland.
Jean-Ma

What's your domino version? R8 has a something Traveller (comes free on the server) where WM and iPhone can get the mails without OneBridge.

Hi Alex,
Not sure about that, but we run Lotus Notes v.7.0...
Otherwise, I need to check this with my IT dpt....
Jean-Ma

I think this will not work without your IT department ...
You do not have a standalone software on your HD2. It needs also a Server who is connecting your notes database with the sync client.
Best regards,
dingolino

I need PUSH email from my company email account HOW??????

Hi
I think title says most of it.
I need push email from my companies corporate email system.
We have a Blackberry server but I have yet to find a working Blackberry client for the Wizard?
On my old PDA2K I have been using Smartner Duality which worked great HOWEVER this does not seem to be compaitble with the Wizard so suddenly I have lost my email capability and need to get it back urgently.
Any ideas out there folks?
Cheers.
Robin
PS Smartner client on my desktop in the office used to 'forward' all my outlook mail via a special server they had and thence to my PDA2K.
It is this kind of functionality I am lookiing to replace UNLESS someone actually has the Blackberry client software!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
for MS's push you'll need to wait for a ROM update with AKU 2.0
for the time being you can just set your wizard to sync with your exchange server over the net (wifi/gprs etc) every x minutes
You can try vgsmail by geoffreycross to be found in the thread 'push-email now available' it's developed for 2003 & there are posts by yzzard to get working under 2005 as well. Need to add some reg.keys manual.
Cheers, M

Unfortunately this is not an option for me.

Hi
I don't think we have IMAP enabled on our mail server and I would still haev a firewall problem so this won't work for me either.
Robin
Do they support the imap protocol? if so try vgsmail.
Sorry didn't catch your last post, forget this one pls.
I doubt they actually block PDAs since Activesync just runs over port 80 and the mail apps just use standard mail ports. More likely they don't have the appropriate software set up to active sync. Sounds like you might be better off waiting until the next ROM updates (Rumors put it as close as this week, but deffinetly before the end of Q1 this year) and possibly looking into a hosted exchange solution and having your work email forward there.
Robster,
I don't know if Vodafone offers the same thing as T-Mobile here in the states but see if they have corporate email access available, T-Mobile does and it works ok, similar to Smartner (i used that when I was running 2003SE) it works on my network and it is really locked down from outside access and they have disabled pop and imap access plus we are running Lotus Notes (man it sucks)

Smartner Duality and Win Mo 5.0?

Hey Guys,
Due to my companies outdated exchange servers I am in need of a good realtime redirector. I read that Smartner Duality Pro is very good but it doesn't seem to work with Win Mo 5.0. Anyone have any more info on this or could recommend another Real Time Redirector that is compatible with the Wizard.
Thanks,
Alex
can't u ask them to upgrade the exchange server? ... i've used smartner duality before with my XDA 2S but i haven't really used it on a WM5.0 device ... i use an O2 XDA Exec now with mine connecting to our exchange server at the office and it's cool and everything but it has a 1 to 5 second delay compared to using blackberry ...
Cheers!
I have actually looked into it, and apparently they will be upgrading sometime this year, which could mean 2008 knowing this company. I have asked to be one of the first on when it gets up and running. For now I am looking for something to bridge me till that time.

I have used the smartphone client successfully on the vario for sometime, however most recently been having some TCP connectivity issues.

Hi Jim,
Could you tell me which device client did you use. When I tried the 4.1 PPC client it won't install, just hangs up. The Smartphone one does install, however it never initializes once I try to get it going.
Thanks,
A

Like you I have been waiting with less and less patience for a Smartner WM5 client.
Yesterday I think I found the solution but it does seem a good deal more expensive than Smartner.
http://www.esemail.net/index.htm
They do say that you get FULL support including calendars!!!!
My eval is on the way so I shall see.
Robin
Thanks Robin. Ill give it a shot as well and see how it works out.
Well I heard back from them, and they are only licensed to ditribute in Europe, so I am back on the search.
Some optimistic hopes declaims about mid february. Can't say for sure, I'll try to write here when confirmed.
I also heard back from Smartner, Seven, AlwaysOn....whatever their current name is. They will have an official Win Mo 5.0 client out by summer.
Has anyone found a workaround to this. I tried the cab file for Pocket PC and it just hangs on install. The smartphone edition one does install, but can't get it to intialize when I run it.

Smartner Duality and Win Mo 5.0
Contact Dan Metcalfe ([email protected]). In mid December he told me that they (Smartner/Seven) would be supporting WM 5.0 by January 2006 and the O2 mini S which I have. I decided I did not need it so I don't know if it has happened or not
AlexL,
I have this same issue. The work around is NOT to click the "OK" button in the warning dialog box about ActiveSync. Slide this box out of the way so you can get to the menu in the bottom right-hand corner. Under Menu, click on "Settings" -> double-click "Detail". In Detail change the Calendar Sync to "No". Finally, click Done. Then continue through the rest of the setup. Basically mail will work, but the calendar doesn't. There is something the Smartphone version doesn't like about the WM5 appointment database. In addition there are some settings that you can't get to. Like e-mail truncation sizes, etc...

Blaine
Chaps,
Having just upgraded my trusty iPAQ and V3 for a T-Mobile Vario I was mortified to find the PPC Duality 4 client for Lotus Notes won't work. Unfortunately tech support at my organisation won't distribute the smartphone client for me to try even though we have people using C500's.
I don't suppose someone who has access to the V4 Duality Pro Smartphone client could make a copy available?
This is not a request for pirate software as it is useless without the appropriate back end, it's just a frustrated techie who has got himself caught on the bleeding edge while the technology laggards in my IT department pontificate the relative merits of running 'mobile phone' software on a PDA.
Any help would be appreciated as I will look a bit of a tit using my iPAQ to access mail through the bluetooth/GPRS connection or a perfectly good WM5 PDA.
EDIT:
Well I take back what I said about the internal guys, they supplied me with the new V5 ppc client which is 2005/WM5 compatibe and it works a dream.

Dave
Windows Mobile 5 Client for Smartner Duality
Hi, we have been using the Smartner duality Professional edition, with a PC in the office pushing emails out to 5 mobile devices. I have upgraded everyone to TMobile Variois and the old 4.1 Windows 2003 client will no longer install. Anyone got access to a working Mobile 5 client? The internet only client will not install with the Push connector.
Many thanks

SEVEN Alwaysonmail Push Email

Hi All,
Just an enquiry really, I've decided to wait for the latest release of SEVEN's Alwaysonmail Internet Edition for Windows Mobile 5 rather than get exchange hosting etc for my push email.
Basicly my question is, any ideas when it will be available (anyone in the know???)
I used it on my M2000 and it was superb and under £30 a year, I still have a contract till Christmas with them hence hanging on.
However according to an email about a month ago the Mobile 5 version will be available during June, but I'm just hoping someone can be more specific on here so I don't need to keep logging into various sites looking to see if it's available yet.
Cheers All
Shaun
PS
Superb forum, very very usefull
i've requested a trail version of the personal edition (for use as an email redirector for my exchange based work account). i've had Smartner's Duality product on previous 2003 devices, and its worked OK.

well i got the SEVEN replacement for duality. i installed it, and it didn't work (can't see email accounts on exchange server). updated my ticket, and I've been waiting 2 weeks for someone to reply. sucky support.
SEVEN Always on Mail worked perfectly on my M2000,
I'm STILL waiting though for the Windows Mobile 5 version to be released, its 3months so far, the software has been developed supposedly and i'm waiting on the relay servers to be updated before it is available for download.
tech support have always got back to me within 2 working days for the first query then quicker if you reply to their response message.
Have you tried the following for support from SEVEN??
https://support.smartner.com/requests
yes, i'm using the "Seven International Request Tracking" system. after first just pointing to the new clients, they haven't responded to my subsequent problem yet, which is:
Hi, i have installed the correct PE client. I get to the activation screen on the client and an activation code.
i have downloaded a SEVEN Always-On Mail Professional Edition desktop connector and installation proceeds without error until i get to the activation code step. then the desktop connector "add user" dialog pops up with an empty list, and i get no activation code entry dialog to proceed. i have uninstalled both desktop, and client software, rebooted and installed again - same problem. non of the Q&A or FAQ's address this problem. i have followed all the directions puiblished. but the product still doesn't work. (the previous smartner redirector worked fine - no system software changes have been made since then)

perhaps that isn't clear? i don't have any errors, and everything seems to go OK. but when the dialog box for selecting email users comes up, it's empty. and I can't go any further.
Whoa Hooooo
latest SEVEN Alwaysonmail software client for WM5 is available and installed on my M5000, and works a treat.
Finally Push email for me without having to fork out £5 + for exchange hosting

oh ok. i'm having DOA problems with the professional version; one of the two versions that replaced the smartner applications.
of ourse intellisync, and on-shedule don't work either. and symmetry pro, and visto doesn't support single users any more... and good doesn't either.. blah are their any alternatives for the poor schlep that wants to sync with outlook/exchange but not involve IT (the kiss of death). we can't even get server activesync support, and our VPN doesn't work with PDA's either. and i'm sick of my blackberry... worthless impossible to use thing.
anyway! any help appreciated
FREE!
Get with the program guys...sign up for a FREE mail2web.com live account. This supports full push email from proper exchange servers. Why pay for something thats already free (and works better)

Blackberry Connect

Hi folks,
I've had problems with the shipped BB version for my Athena. I downloaded and installed the Desktop Component 2.1.1.21 and the BBC version 2.1.2.54. Both are running smoothly and fast.
Donwload from here:
Desktop Component: http://support.vodafone.de/publicfiles/activesyncinstaller2.1.1.21.zip
BB Client: http://support.vodafone.de/publicfiles/bbconnect_pocketpc_bb_2[1].1.2.54.exe
Cheers
Hello.
Thanks for the links.
A quick question: Are you able to be on the web, and still have your mail
pushed in?
Or, must you exit IE or Opera to switch over to mail?
I am so grateful to you if this all works out.
Also, do you know by chance if Cingular has an issue with BB on a Pocket PC?
I can't see why they would, as long as I have the BB data plan... yes?
thanks again.
Hi C0rnholio, I am trying to use my direct push mail functions of my Athena.
However, I am not aware that the Athena comes with a blackberry connect software. Apparently yours come with it, but you have some problems with it, am I correct?
Then you find another software which solved your problems.
Actually which one of those 2 downloads which you posted replace the original problem software? Do you install one in your PC and one in your Athena or both in Athena?
If I can use my Athena for my Blackberry connection, that will help me get rid of my blackberry device coming from my provider.
Please enlighten me on this Blackberry connect for Athena!
BB: anyone using it?
any other experiences? I'm restlessly waiting for my ordered advantage...... will the rom in the advantage be permissable to load BB connect? i went thru this with my wizard..... at the end of it all, when on the web, bb wldn't wrk, until exiting PIE and vice versa....... let's hope this has been upgraded
Blackberry on my HTC Advantage up and running.
Info: WM5 in Spanish
BB in spanish. I installed the BB from the links of Vodafone found in this forum.
My server is Lotus Notes 6.
Any other information just ask me.
BB on WM5 is the best solution for BB. I tried Symbian BB on several machines including Nokia 9300 and the result on WM5 is more stable and you can open ALL attachments. Even better than real RIM BB machines... If you need BB got BB for WM5. Trust me. Off course in this Athena with the huge screen and with the HSDPA is the best solution.
All I need to find out were is the limit of the size of the attachements you can download... if in the BB on Wm5, in the BB Desktop or in the BES itself.
Regards and thank you for the information to install BB on WM5,
mahjong
Just to anyone to know.
BB 4 on the Athena in WM5 destroy the today screen and I should made a hardreset and rollback to BB 2. Looks like a incompatibility between BB 4 and WM5 to me... I'm not sure.
More details in the BB 4 threat in this forum.
Best Regards,
mahjong

Blackberry connect question

Hello everyone,
Eventhough I have BB Conn on my AT&T 8525, my company would not help me get it paired with our BES, so I had them get me an actual BB. Now I'd like to just pull the SIM card put it in my 8525 and use BB conn. From what I have read, this should not be an issue; but I understand that the device type will show up on the BES. Now I doubt they have someone monitoring with such a fine comb, but since They will not let personal devices on, oh yeah, nor would they let me get a TILT as a BB, is there a way to spoof the device type on the BES or is this something someone would be interested in looking into as my programming skills are long gone. Thanks in advance for all your replies.
As far as i know there is no way of spoofing the BB device so that the BES sees your WinMo device as a BB.
Also i think it would be necessary for you to redo the Enterprise Activation anyway, as from the BES's point of view you would be a new device, this would require the assistance of your BES Admin.
This same solution worked for me.
But I am using BBC 2 on my Wizard.
All I had to do is to get a good (that is: BBC compatible) ROM version(I hacked it) and AKU value in the registry (hacked that as well).
I was then able to connect my WM device to the BES using the BBC desktop software. The BBC desktop software seems to push the device PIN (which is different on the WM device than on the BB device) to the BES.
Works flawlessly. BBC has some drawbacks BTW: I cant cope with big mail or calendar archives, so you have to clean up your Exchange account once in a while. BBC 2 is a memory hog as well (and it seems to have a memory leak). But a weekly / bi-weekly softreset fixes hat.
I am still curious to get BBC 4 on my device. This new version seems to have more difficult catches.
A how to guide on hacking the OS in order to rum BBC is in the development & hackng forum.....
That's as maybe, but if the BES admin has set it up so that only an allowed list of devices are allowed then BBC will not connect.
Also as there is an existing embargo on personal devices could it be against company policy and thus disciplinable to circumvent things?
As a BES Admin I can confirm that non BBs show up as something different. We have a Nokia Communicator running BBC on our BES and it shows as a Nokia RA-6

I ended up doing exactly what you have done due to corporate policy. However I have never even unboxed the BlackBerry they posted me. I had to call the helpdesk to get them to create a password for the Enterprise Activation but that was it. I then installed BBC (4.0.0.97) and just did the activation and it all worked.
I tried version 4.0.0.100 but it didn't work for some reason so I ended up using the slightly older version as I had seen various reports of it working. I think our IT department must know I am using a HTC Kaiser, however I think as long as I don't start asking for support they are OK with it.
When they created the password for enterprise activation it lasts for a day or so and then can't be used and you have to request another activation. I can see this being a pain if you want to play about installing new ROMs.
HTH
Andy
