Quick question,
how can you tell which is which by looking at the phones? The HD2 i currently have has been flashed, so it shows t8525 in the settings, when i purchased it, it came in the telstra box but my 3G doesnt work (running on Rogers with a 4000 series sim card)
Is there any other way to see if its the telstra version? where can i check what bands are being used for data?
the rom im running is 1.66.405.2 wwe
Thanks!
Look on the back, towards the bottom. The Telstra version will say NextG Network and have a T logo.
awesome thank you

Hello,
I was going to purchase a Telstra 9193 Australian version which has HESPA 850. My question is regarding flashing a custom rom. If I leave the radio stock and flash a rom will it work since it has a different frequency?
Anyone bought one for use with Telus or Bell or guess AT&T and flashed a custom rom? I have been reading about a setting for frequency?
Also do you know where I can get the stock Telstra rom so if i need to go back?
Thanks
I imagine it should work as long as the radio rom is intact, but I'm not positive and would also like to hear from somebody who has tried using the Australian Phone.
I would gladly buy another HD2 to get US 3G...not on T Mobile.
I have the Telstra HD2 it works with 3g in NA with flashed roms and also with upgraded radio ( currently I have the 2.8)

The Australian version is compatible with carriers who run 3G network on 850Mhz (Rogers, AT&T, Telus, Bell ...). I`m using one right now with Rogers. This 850Mhz frequency is hardware related and can`t be altered by flashing the radio. On some custom ROMs which required to use certain radios to enable the 576 RAM.
Should be fine

I've flashed two ROMs (including a 23541-build) on to two different 9193s (the Telstra model - I don't believe there is any 9393 model), and they have been working fine. Better than the stock ROM. Also flashed the Radio on those phones to 2.08.50.08, and no problem there either. My bet is that you'd be fine.
Hey I'm using it on telstra in Aus, and I also have found no issues. Works well, no stress.
Well guess I will be flashing Thank you for the replys. I was getting confused with some saying there was a frequency setting in the rom and i did not want to brick my device.
I am very interested in using the Artemis rom on this Telstra 850mhz device. If anyone is doing that please let me know.
THANKS!

You will lose the 850Mhz frequency in the frequency setting when you flash the custom ROM. The reason for that, I think, is because the custom ROM is built from the EU/Asia base system. But no worry, there's a .cab from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=624108&page=6 (post 58) where you can restore the Australian version frequency setting

Unless you are flashing a crap rom you wont loose this. I haven't lost this in any rom I flashed. Just because the phone doesnt offer the hardware doesnt mean wimo doesnt show the bands look at the tp1 tp2 from europe both showed 850 as an option just didnt work for hsdpa

I can confirm this.....
Except it's got the telstra rom on it that restricts certain settings/functions... but u can easily get rid of it...
I am using one here in the US. What a wonderful phone, thanks to our Aussie Bros that I can use this phone on att US./
Not locked.
any sim works on it but you won't get full internet pottential until you change the rom. I tried a 3 mobile sim when i 1st got the phone, i had reception straight away but no internet. but as soon as i got rid of the telstra rom & retried my 3 sim, everything set up in an instant just as with a telstra sim.
You might want to look at flashing a generic HTC rom, as it will pick up the new provider settings if your using another countrys sim.
First you will need to remove the spl and install a hard spl
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611433
I would download hspl2_run.zip and install 2.08
Then get the htc rom

1.72 WWE should do the trick.
Hope this helps.
Hi,
I bought a T-MOBILE HTC HD2 unlocked and use it with the chip carrier OI (in the city of Brasilia in Brazil), if I use the upgrade version 2.10.531.1 to 2.13.531.1 available on the T-Mobile, it can block my only device for use on T-Mobile, or continued unlocked for all carriers.
Software Information appliance:
the version
5.2.21889 (21889.5.0.87)
manila version
2.5.20121412.1
rom version
2.10.531.1 (82076) wwe
rom date
02/22/10
radio version
2.08.50.08_2
Protocol version
13.54.50.07u
T-Mobile HD2 U. A. E. ROM with 1024 Mbytes
Bootloader:
PB 81 120 SS-B3
SPL-2.08.0000 x 8g
microspira (led) 0x05
Microp (touch) 0x40
For now, for personal reasons, I would try upgrading to the newer version is available at T-Mobile, but I'm afraid to lock the device to the other providers (eg HI I use currently). This possibility exists or can I upgrade and the unit will continue unlocked for all operators?
I appreciate any help.
Including how to put a new ROM in Portuguese, that is, if one exists. How is the procedure?
Pardon me if I'm posting in the wrong place or am doing something that is not in accordance with the rules of the forum. If you please notify me so I will not repeat the mistake.

i havent unlock and i dont want to lead u the wrong way but make sure your hd2 has hspl done allready and probably dont have to upgrade but the radio and u dont have to mess with the rom just my suggestion lol
sorry in advance u are allready hspl i think do ur research
it will be fine. changing the rom has no effect on sim/network lock.
Hi, I also have the t-Mobile HD2 & I unlocked it; but, I can't upgrade to T-Mobile's new ROM because it doesn't recognize my phone as a T-Mobile phone anymore. Is there a way around it in order to receive the new upgrade? The only thing I can think of is re-locking it to T-Mobile, upgrade, and then unlock it again. But that seems kinda crazy to me and where would I find the T-Mobile lock code. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

what does the red bit mean? do you mean when you enter your serial number into the t mobile website to get the update?
two things, firstly, thats very odd, normally when you unlock the network it has no effect on the rom lock. None at all. (Sure you are getting your serial correct? )
secondly, theres abound to be a mirror around here somewhere.
I have and unlocked Tmous HD2 that I mainly use in T-mobile network but when I travel to South America I use the phone with Movistar (Uruguay and Argentina sim cards). I updated the phone to 2.13 and it didn't lock the phone, the phone is still unlocked and the Movistar sim cards works just fine as they did before.
I hope this help you.
ok.
Okay folks, it worked, everything was right! Do not block my hd2! Many thanks to all.

buy a code or ask the operator who sold you it. there is no free unlocking.
Hello,
I was recently told by a Telstra representative that I would not be able to use the NextG network without a Telstra ROM as I have flashed CleanX.
I was wondering if there is some kind of registry hack that will allow me to modify the ROM so it will be able to switch to the Telstra NextG frequencies.
Thanks.
If you do a search for Telstra Bandwidth Cab you should be able to find it
hi everyone just quickly is installing MAGLDR & installing roms the same on all varients (thinking of getting a t mobile one) just asking because i know its different with some devices also lastly would an unlocked t-mobile htc hd2 work fine in australia ? (ps: im on optus)
T-Mobile USA (TMOUS) is different to all others in terms of radio hardware & 1GB memory. Any other T-Mobile HD2 is same as standard EU model.
Should all work on Optus as 3G is 2100Mhz & even the TMOUS version works fine on all 3G networks I have used it on in EU & Asia .
If you get the TMOUS version you need to be careful to see ROMs will support it, also important not to flash certain radio versions to it or it will be bricked (do not flash 51 (x.xx.51.xx) Radios to T-Mobile USA (TMOUS) ) 2.12.50.02_2 or 2.15.50.14 are a couple good ones though.
Extra memory on the TMOUS is nice though & also radio signal is better in weak areas on a TMOUS .
More details on all above can be found in HD2 Wiki
