I can tell by all the lock screens and mods such as this that this may be doable. I bought the phone a day after launch and immediately wanted this:
Disable Menu-Menu to unlock
Disable the HTC lock screen (pulldown style - I hate this)
Most importantly - Only the END key should power the phone (not MENU) and it will go straight to the pattern unlock.
Please and thanks. Currently on DamageControl v2.05.
Awesome idea. The only reason I don't use a pattern is because it's a pain to go through 2 lockscreens if your phone locks itself while browsing the web or something.
Go for it!! Let us know how it turns out...
I would pay $10 to disable menu to unlock. I found an app on the marketplace that did it once, but it was very buggy and caused more problems than it solved.
I would also like a keypad (as in, numbers) instead of pattern unlock.

I'm running Freshhh 2.0d with the Vanilla lock screen, and flipz has made it to where menu, menu will not unlock the phone. Pressing menu does turn the display back on, but you have to actually swipe on the screen to unlock. I have been using it for a day or two now, and I have to say that it works great. My phone doesn't randomly unlock in my pocket anymore, and I don't have to use the security unlock to keep it from doing it!!! Thanks flipz!!!
A lockscreen with numbers like on the iphone and the palm pre would be nice. i dont like the pattern one.

Strange.... I am running the same Vanilla Lock Screen from Geekforme/Fresh on Damage Control v.2.05 and Menu Menu bypasses the lock screen and Menu (once) powers the display with the Eclair style lock screen.
EDIT: I see what you're talking about now. That's nice, almost perfect, now all I want is the Eclair lock screen disabled too and to go straight to Pattern!! So close!

Paypaling right now. It's ABOUT time someone did this!
How can I disable vibrate/haptic feedback during unlock on the vanilla lockscreen now?

I may be lucky that i don't have that problem
untap "prevent wake up" in lockbot settings and you don't get double lockscreen, even if you use menu key to wake up the phone. but if you use a lock pattern, it will be disabled too. you can use the lock pattern of lockbot by selecting it under "security" in lockbot options.

This worked for the first few unlocks then started getting double again
i was talking with the Lockbot Dev 2 months ago about the issue with double lock on the X10, is answer was make sure your SD card is in the phone. Unfortunatly that was the last bit of support i got from him, i tried to get a refund and he also ignores my request for that too.
ive tried both and had the same problem, i found lock 2.0 to be a bit better, if i enable the "disable stock lock screen" it works for a while but the stock lock does still come back. i have no idea what is causing it and no one seems to care too much. ive tried talking to the lock 2.0 dev, and he does look into it but he'll start to get somewhere and gets into a vicious circle of asking me what device i have, even after if told him 5000 times, and tells me to "reboot" the phone to fix it. "sigh"
it really bugs me because i hate the stock lock, but doesnt make sense to have 2 popping up :s i was hoping with root access we could just remove the stock slider but it must be built right into the kernel?

it works for me since 5 days now without problems. maybe you got some other lock app active (like NoLock for example)?
I tried lockbot but the stock screen-lock came back from time to time. Yes, I use no lock. I didnt verify the lockbot performance without no lock because no lock was so useful and gave me a lot of conveniences. I wont give up no lock to use lockbot.
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
i use flyscreen with no lock it works perfect
Bug number 2
If you have set Lockbot on, it will create a conflict with "Flight Mode"
You canĀ“t come back from "Flight Mode" outside and get Lockbot off.
Double post :S
Hey Ppl....
I've found a file called libphonelock.so under /system/lib/
Maybe if you remove it with the TB, that it remove X10i lock screen?
anyone as know it?

ZOMG. This is definitely a step in the right direction.
I'm going to contact the developer and find out if I can get the code to the lockscreen disable portion of the app. Would love to see if I (or someone with actual Android programming experience) could tweak that into something that disables the swipe lock but can keep the pattern lock enabled.
-edit-
Email sent, though BIP's developer is out of town this weekend. If anyone knows of any other apps that accomplish this, I'd be interested to know.
lock 2.0 disables it, as well as the app "no-lock".
problem is, even with the new version of battery indicator, every app ive tried the stock slider still manages to come back someway somehow , battery indicator seems to be the best solution so far, and im wondering if its lock 2.0 that somehow brings back the stock slider.

Hey have you ever been able to receive a response from the dev?
If you are seeking a "new" lock screen, or the "no slider" look.
I highly recommend Widget Locker.
It has a root bypass of the lock screen "5 second rule" which starts up the "old" lock screen.
I bought the app, used the root bypass option, and i havent seen my old lock screen yet.
They even have a keypress unlock, if you want a very simple lock screen, and you can hold your back button down for .5-2sec or so to unlock.
Though, I dont use the pattern lock, so i have no idea if it works in combination with this or not?
Edit: Disregard, I didn't realize the age of this thread D:
Sorry for resurrecting such an old thread. Funny thing is that I actually did start using WidgetLocker and I DO sometimes get the stock lock screen before it starts, so I was looking for a way to completely disable the stock lock. There are some apps out there that remove the stock lock but it causes every hardware button to wake the device up, which is no good. (This includes battery indicator as I just found out)
Yea, thats no good, it kinda defeats the purpose of having some sort of alternative lock screen when it wakes up on key press like that
I'm not sure why, but i have never got the lock screen to pop up again, unless i kill widgetlocker myself.
Well, if you indeed find out how to get rid of that lockscreen, i would love to know, it would be nice to not have a app constantly running pretending to be an alternate lockscreen, you know?
I am using the Extended Controls app from the market.
With it you can enable & disable just about everything the X10 uses (including the lock screen).
Normally I use Widget Locker, so I'm not sure how this all works...
I've set a pattern which comes on if the phone is off for 3 minutes. When that happens, first I have to swipe down and then also put the pattern in.
Can it not be set to one or the other? Simple down swipe if before 3 mins, just the pattern if longer than 3 minutes?
I've looked through options but I can't see any way to set it this way
Same problem here, my samsung galaxy s doesn't have this double lock issue
Yeah, me too.
I mentioned it to HTC Support, they said they'd pass on the feedback.
If they get enough comments they might do something about it!?

If you enable the pattern lock, you need to go through with 2 locks...this is the way it has been since 1.6. If you disable the pattern lock, its just the Swipe all the way.
looks like the Swype will stay ON whatever you do.

Nope, not on standard Android. On the N1 you press the power button and get the pattern lock.
Maybe it's always been like that on HTC Sense... not necessary though.
How to get rid of screen lock screen? i'm tired to use that i want to see my phone after pressing button not slice to unlock Is there any easy way?
I' NOT talking about password and so on i'm talking about screenlocker itself. PS and i don't want any app to do this I hate apps.

I found a way to do do something like that you want. As i can see you have cm7 so you have the CM settings, I guess. There are 3 lockscreen settings which can do sort of what you want:
1) Go to ->Unlock options and enable Menu unlock & Disable unlock slider
2) Go to ->Delay and timeout and put screen timeout delay and screen turn off delay to max (30min i think).
So your phone after these setting will lock after 30 min of nonuse and will unlock by pressing the menu button without showing any slice to unlock!
Hope I helped...

Well that's definitely better then it was Thanks. cause it's very bad thing when you have to turn on phone every few minutes cause you got sms Buti home there will be some one who knows how to remove. I have my Archos 32 player and it uses android but it don't have lock screen
I recently updated to 2.3.5 from 2.2 and the unlock has changed. Before, the unlock screen had 2 options. Slide to unlock and slide to turn the sound off. Now it has 4 options, none of which is to turn the sound off which is the one I really need the most. I can't find any way to change this w/o installing a 3rd party app (which I'd like to avoid if at all possible). Does anyone know how to modify the unlock screen?
Thanks

Why do you have to change that on the lockscreen? Can't you just unlock it, and use the volume-down button?
Unlock screen
If I only needed to do it once a day, that would be fine but I am constantly going in and out of meetings and a single swipe is much more convenient than what you mention. I did do the following in the meantime (for anyone that cares)
1. added a shortcut to the volume settings on my home screen so I just go into that and silence the phone
2. I installed ZDbox which has an option to schedule the phone to go silent at certain times of the day/week. Pretty nice.
Would like to know in general, though, if the unlock screen can be changed.
Thanks.
