looking for a 2.1 ROM with sense UI - myTouch 3G, Magic General

anyone know of a good ROM with eclair running sense UI (like Desire) that I can flash on a mytouch 3G? I looked but could not find one (of course I may be blind and/or stupid). Any help would be really appreciated. If there are more than one, which one in your opinion is the most stable?

looks pretty sweet, is this running eclair (2.1) though? I get the idea it's running donut? I'm all about some 2.1 with sense uI

Its donut with eclair dump, I think this is closest you'll get with 2.1 and sense for magic

Try King's ROMs, either DroidEris, or Legend port, or any other 2.1 sense ROMs.

King's rom kills my entire battery in like an hour. Any other eclair 2.1?
also you linked me to the G1 upgrades, I looked for some 2.1 sense roms in the mytouch upgrades, but couldn't really find any. Anyone know of any more I should try?

Welcome to the world of rom flashing. There are a few out there but basically Iced Glacier is basically a stock rom with some tweaks for speed improvement. There are a few others like the Desire rom which is closer to normal Sense UI and CM6 which is stock Android. Honestly the best thing to do is back up all your info with Titanium Backup and flash some roms. Try them all out and see which one you like the best.

Pretty much hit the nail on the head. If you like the MySense UI that the MyTouchHD is using then you might want to try iced glacier it's fairly speedy. Personally i like the "stock/Vanilla" AOSP (Android Open Source Programming) look and feel of Android. I don't like all the fluff and puff that comes with the Sense UI. So that leave Cyanogen's CM6.1.2RC2. I've been VERY happy with this ROM. But you need to decide for yourself. It's time consuming but it's really hard for us to figure out what you like.
Thanks for the advice Im going to try eVil 4G HD, Any recommendation on what I should get along with that?
After that, you might want to try out the Miui roms, pretty slick and it's like an iPhone rom.
And then Cyanogens 6.1RC or CM7 that's Gingerbread but you have to use ADB and upgrade the recovery, unless you're famular with ADB, I'd stick with what we have now and use the roms that don't require the new recovery.

[Q] MDeejay Froyo vs Gingerbread

Hi,
I am about to flash a new ROM to my leo. For the moment, i am happy with mdeejay SD froyo sense rom (18.12.2010 or so).
Normally, I would use Froyo NAND but maybe gingerbread is as fast as froyo, so ginger would be better.
Anyone here who tested both of these ROMs and may post a little comparision?
Thanks,
cmoe
I've use both rom but right now i'm back to the froyo with sense. The main problem of gingerbread rom was the gps disconnection problem and don't know what was wrong, a wifi poor performance just with some wifi access points. The one in my house run smooth, the one at my parents's home had poor performance but just with gingerbread rom.
With froyo rom all wifi access point are running good.

Froyo is much closer to complete.
If you want a daily use build, take Froyo.
If you like experimenting, go with Gingerbread.
The GPS was fixed, this time for real, but again it's not 100%, the fix didn't work for some users.
thanks guys,
So i will take the froyo rom. You said something about froyo sense? Thought, sense was to much data for NAND?!? This one ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=823491 ) comes without sense, doesn't it?
I have to say, that I am a great fan to mdeejay roms, but if you can tell me a better sense-nand rom, i would be thankful.

Do you know that camera doesnt work on 2.2 sense roms?
fast, stable and fully functional? the answer is : there are no fully functional 2.2 Sense Roms for Hero because Sense is not an open source project so no camera drivers. But if u don't care about some bugs and the camera not working, u can try ChocolateFroyo v1.0-rel2
There hopefully will be soon

HTC HERO
I realise that I have been relatively silent on this front, but in order to keep you all in the picture, I’ll explain the situation. Before the above happened in my life, I was working on a Gingerbread ROM, loosely based on CM7 sources. Unfortunately, I do not have time to finish this work.
As a result, I am posting the Hero to RaiderX today, who you may or may not remember from the Hero Dev scene a whole year ago. Raider is a fantastic developer, and is part of the VillainROM team. He will be working on completing the Gingerbread ROM, and I understand he has plans to get Sense UI and Froyo fully working for the handset. Woop, woop – I hear you say.

I thought we will never see working camera in 2.2 sense but now I see some light in the end tunnel
Thanks - it sounds promising -is there a link to the developed ROM

Nope - it's a work in progress just now, so there's nothing to link to.

Any Eclair ROMs comparison?

I wonder if anyone tried and compared available Eclair ROM? I used froyo and GB ROMs (mostly Ele's) for a long time but they are a bit too heavy for my Hero. So I decided to move to Eclair and tried Kimera, which is a very good ROM but unfortunately apps2sd does not work on it. So I am now thinking to move to another one but don't know which. As far as I can see there are a few 2.1 ROMs available:
- VillainROM 13
- Elelinux 2.1 WWE
- VanillaEclair 6.1
- Kimera 3.0
- Aeonflux
- RCmix 2.2
Probably something else. I wonder if anyone has any comments about pluses and minuses or anything else. I will probably try some of the ROMs mentioned above this weekend, but it's a bit time consumining and I hope that someone has already tried some of them.

I'm pro on the Sense Roms because i find them more useful than an AOSP rom... As for a comparison...tested only the first 2 and pleased with them, on the moment i'm on the second rom and it works without any problems
Stefan
Vanilla Eclair because it is AOSP, it is without sense. This makes it faster and more useful to me

I wonder what dialer you use, the default one without T9? If you use DialerOne or something like that is it fast? Also does apps2sd work on this ROM?
I use touchpal dialer It's really fast. And app2sd works

our measly x8 can not support sense 3.5 sorry but i am looking at either porting the aria because thatsd the closest i can find to our hardware or one ov the great roms i used to use on my old wildfire that is the wildpuzzle rom its great sexy nice and just very smooth rom but no sorry sense 3.5 is not ever going to be possible for our phones
Maan! It would be great, if you'll build fully functional Sense ROM. I've already have last Sense from racht, and it's great even the Wifi, 3G and others is not working.
I'll donate if it will be working, cuz I really love Sense. My next phone will be HTC for sure.
Can you get some closest info about your's ROM? 2.1 or 2.2? Maybe 2.3? Sense version?
