Firmware version: 2.1-update1 or 2.1-update2? - Hero CDMA General

Using DC2.05 and it's Firmware version is listed as 2.1-update1.
Newest Fresh says 2.1-update2.
Is this just changed by the author, or is it a newer build of a Sprint leak?
Thanks for any info!

We had two leaks in a row that were both called update-1 despite being different builds. I didn't like that it said update-1 so I changed it. Cosmetic only.

Interesting... new baseband. Mine currently says 32.19.00.16U_4.02.02.14. Does this mean we're getting a radio update?
Can you verify that you've been updated to Maps 3.4 and have pinch-to-zoom in Maps, Gallery, and Browser? According to Google, this is part of the update.

Giggity on the update
this maybe a dumb question but if my phone is rooted but I still have everything is stock, I should be able to get the update automatically from the roll out correct?
The update won't be on the sdcard.

Any idea if this OTA will make it harder to root?

OTA updates work without an sdcard installed. They get downloaded directly to the flash on the phone. I don't remember where, but if you search it shouldn't be too hard to find. Cyanogen has mentioned it.
Once someone with a rooted phone without a custom ROM should be able to snag a copy before it's installed. Or maybe even discover the URL of the update in the phone's log...

No, it will not. Google wants us to have root on this device.
what about free memory?

You said harder as though it took more then 5 minutes to begin with. Unless it has a new SPL to overwrite the current one, then no, it will not be any "harder."

XXKI4 Discussion

Ok flash freaks, it's now available:
Firmware: http://www.multiupload.com/SKUPDRAOKL
Stock Kernel: http://www.multiupload.com/2FF735VQD5
Password: [email protected]
Frankenstein XEUKH2 version: http://www.multiupload.com/NAPKDLWC5B
Been using it a few days now and it's worth while updating from XXKI3.
Can I ask what differences you have noticed yourself?
Stability/speed differences? Features?
Thanks in advance
eta:
im at work so cant download and test...
It's a test ROM, also available through KIES (in test mode).
Thanks Intratech!

It's going to be released officially in the coming days.
Intra, which CSC have you used in the XEU package. (as in KD1, KI3 etc)
Is this a newer version than ki8 or is it between ki3 and ki8?

Ok, I'm confused.
A new ROM with the same code as an old one?
Is it 2.3.5 or .4?
Shouldn't we be getting KJ ROMs, since we are pass mid October?
I just want to confirm the Frankenstein version is non wipe as before? Also, does it have the old bootloader? Thanks.

you are wrong the other KI4 was XWKI4 2.3.4
this one is XXKI4 2.3.5
To answer my own (and another) question:
The XEU package includes the KH2 CSC file
Yes, the XEU package is non-wipe, as it's a 1 file flash in Odin (that's the quick way to tell if it's wipe or not)

Ok, fair enough... XX instead of XW. I still think is quite a confusing use of the coding, specially the way we use it here (where usually we pretty much ignore the zone code) but ok.
What's the modem version bundled with this and how's it faring?

True but that's the way sammy likes to make their Roms i personally hate it they should make a global Rom

Samsung numbering is usually incremental so KJ6 would be a later build than KJ1. Mine has KJ4 out of the box.

I haven't checked, but as I rooted mine within an hour of getting it I'm not sure if it'll work should I try .
I think KJ6 is a Chinese variant. If you check out the Samsung opensource page it has it listed as version "GT-N7000_HK N7000ZSKJ6 GT-N7000_CHN_ZH.zip".

There are NEVER changelogs with Stock firmware. The only thing we get is a changelist, which is just a number and means absolutely nothing useful to us whatsoever.
