Hello there I have an tmo g1 none rooted and every app except the browers when I try to run it says force close I can't call or anything also the touchscreen is unresponsive how do I fix this factory reset install new rom please help
First of all...What have you tried? Have you tried a wipe?
no im nervous 2 do it because of the touch the android screen will come up and the touch screen is unresponsive but mostly every app i open it make it force close it out
If your screen is not responding to touch you can still Factory Restet your phone using Hardware buttons.
Just follow these steps:
turn off your phone[just do it any way-remove battery & reinsert or use power button ] and restart.
now
1-Press and hold the Home button and the Power button at the same time.
2-Keep holding Home and Power together for 20-25 seconds, even if the "Startup" screen appears.
3-Release the keys when you see a black screen with a warning sign.
4-At the warning sign screen, press the Home and Power buttons again simultaneously, and then let them go.
5-Use the trackball to scroll to wipe data/factory reset.
6-press the trackball in on wipe data/factory reset.
7-When the screen displays "Data wipe complete", roll the trackball to reboot system now.
8-Press the trackball in on reboot system now.
when your phone restarts it will be 'clean' .

Hi,
I know others have this problem. My phone starts, gets through loading almost all the way, but before I can do anything, it shuts down and starts all over again. It just keeps starting, loading, shutting down, over and over again.
The only way to stop it is to remove the battery. The hard reset instructions in my manual do not work. Hold the red and green keys and press soft reset. Can I somehow interrupt the load up or get into some kind of menu or flash the phone? I cannot sync with the phone since it doesn't stay on long enough before restarting again.
Thanks
Try to enter the bootloader screen (tri-color screen). If you can do that without it looping on you, you can flash from there.
Follow these instructions to enter your bootloader screen.
hi there another way too boot your htc elf connet it with usb start it and when start screen windows appear or start screen of your provider hold green red and on/ off up the phone keep holding the buttons till you get 'this will erase all your personal data' message, then press 'action' (big front button) to hard reset.
My DHD Home & Search buttons, and occasionally the back button also, stop working after a while. Sometimes its only a few minutes after a soft reset, other times it may take an hour or so before it happens.
With the Home button, the screen just flashes when I press it but nothing happens - it doesn't go Home. With the Search button, nothing happens at all.
When I soft reset the DHD the buttons then return to normal for a while, but I've been unable to determine what causes it. I've run virus checks, and they are ok.
It doesn't affect the Menu button.
Any ideas?
OK - updated unlocked (not rooted) Atrix to Gingerbread the day it was released. It has been fine for the most part up until a few days ago, when I have experienced some apps (Pulse, etc...) causing the phone to crash and reboot. Today it has gotten stuck though, and I don't know how to fix it. It boots up fine, and when I unlock the screen, there are about 4 or 5 error popups from different Google services (com.motorola.service.main, com.google.process.gapps, com.android.portal, Data Manager, Bluetooth Share) and then the phone does a quick reboot (the AT&T logo doesn't come up). I unlock the phone, same thing happens. If I just leave it there, it reboots by itself after about 2 minutes. I cannot get to the "settings" to do a factory wipe. If I go into Android Recovery, touching the bottom right of the screen doesn't do anything at the android/triangle/exclamationmark screen. I am completely at a loss. Please help!!
Try these steps....
Power off the phone, press and hold volume down button, press power button.
Screen will come up with "Fastboot", press Vol down key to cycle through choices until you get "Android Recovery", then press Vol up key
Wait for the "triangle ! / Android" screen then go on to step 4
Tap on bottom right corner of the screen (may take a few times). a menu will come up
Tap on "wipe data/factory reset", and tap OK. Another Confirmation screen will come. Tap Yes and OK
After userdata is cleared, the "reboot system now" option will be highlighted by Default. Tap OK.
Phone will reboot to initial setup MOTOBLUR screen.
Thank you for the quick response, but as stated in my earlier post - nothing happens when I touch the bottom right of the screen when in android recovery mode. A menu never comes up at all.
Actually, since you are on Gingerbread, after the little android guy pops up, instead of pressing on the bottom right of the screen (just above the search button), press BOTH volume buttons at the same time...trust me. ;-)
That did it! Got back in now - seems to be working. I should do this after every OS update. Thanks very much!! You have saved a phone from destruction this evening.
Dummy question: where can I find the OK button? I can only see the menu....
AFAIK, if you are running GB then there is no "OK" button, the power button becomes the select button.

Click to collapse
Tks,
A few minutes after doing the dummy question I guessed: "the only button missing is the Power button, then that should be the OK". It worked.
My phone's battery died so i plugged it in and when i did, the bootlogo appeared for around 5 seconds then disappeared. This repeated for hours. I tried pressing Power+down for 10 seconds and this resulted in the screen turning off and the led flashing red. I tried again and this resulted in the bootlogo issue. After several hours of charging, results are no different. Phone is completely unresponsive when not plugged in. Please help.
UPDATE: Managed to boot into recovery and reflashed my rom (SOKP D801), but no change. Is this rom broken and will a different rom fix the issue? Also, i can't seem to enter recovery again. (Note: rom is discontinued by developer and website is gone.)
UPDATE 2: Phone randomly started working again for no apparent reason. To avoid the original issue, should I switch roms?
did you tried hard reset?...
If your phone is on, turn it off.
Press and hold the Volume Down and Volume Up buttons, and then press and hold the Power button at the same time until the phone turns on. You'll see the word "Start" with an arrow around it.
Press the Volume Down button twice to highlight "Recovery mode."
Press the Power button to start Recovery mode. You'll see an image of an Android robot with a red exclamation mark and the words "No command."
While holding the Power button, tap the Volume Up button once.
Use the volume buttons to scroll to "wipe data/factory reset" and press the Power button to select it.
Scroll down to "Yes - erase all user data" and press the Power button to select it.
Note: If your phone becomes unresponsive at any point during these steps, you can restart it by holding down the Power button for several seconds.
The button combination resulted in a hardware control menu, not recovery
after updation to CM12, yesterday i observe that my mobile is not turned on. when i press the power button the lights at the bottom home and return buttons turned on but the screen is not turned on. I tried to charging the mobile. it gets charged and when i press power along with the volume buttons mobile gets restarted screen is also activated with the display of Cyanogen. but again same problem. i tried to dial from another mobile to yureka. I got the call but screen is not turned on. so that, i was unable to attend a lot of calls. i think its not a hard ware problem. might be some software problem. how do i fix this one........
tried factory resetting the device??
turn off your phone and press both volume keys and power button until you see cyanogenmod recovery.
wipe data/factory reset from there
wipe cache too
