GMail issues

I just noticed that I delete gmail emails from my phone and they stay on the server. The gmail app will say i have x amount of emails even if i've deleted them. sure enough, if i go to gmail.com, they are there... i've tried unsyncing from phone settings menu, rebooting, and syncing again. Still get the problem. Any info?
go to labels in gmail app. it will show you inbox is synced for 4 days.
go to settings | labels
then change number of days to sync - or select all days for inbox (probably not good as i have thousands in there).

Accounts & Sync - Scheduling?

Hey all, I'm lost on this, maybe I cannot find the feature.
How do you schedule syncing? I can go into settings-accounts & sync, but I don't see anyway to set it up to lets say automatically sync ever hour or every 2 hours.
I'll use my gmail accounts as an example. How can I get them to sync on a schedule, not when the phone itself wants to sync them. Thanks!
Yeah I think I'm a moron becasue I coudn't find the sync buttons anywhere. In my G1 it was pretty easy to find, but not on this phone.
Think button is in accounts, scheduling does not exist here. I think this feature is in droid x
If you go to accounts and do a long touch on your selected account the settings for it will appear. Within this you can change the frequency that your email syncs.
Gmail syncs automatically and its push, that means as soon as you get an email the phone will download it, there is no time to set.
the other accounts (via email app) you can just press the menu button and go to settings when you are in the account and tell it how often you want it to check (5, 10, 15 mintues, etc)

Click to collapse
Im pretty sure Gmail does not have "push". Unless they changed it in TouchWiz, Gmail never had push notifications. I use "Tasker" to schedule my syncing every morning at 4am.
I am not sure how long it's been, but it's been a while. I had a blackberry and HD2 and if you use their Gmail app instead of the email app native from the phone, it will be push and that is why there is no setting where you can change how frequent you want it to check. I can send myself an email from my work to my gmail and my phone will alert me whithin 5 seconds no matter how often I send the email... so it is push

Gmail Sync question

It seems that Gmail stoped syncying on my phone 4 days ago. I looked but dont see a setting for how often it should check for new mail. What am I missing?
Menu settings, account, click your gmail account... Gmail checked?
Thanks, found it there. For some reason mail was not set to sync but contacts was...

making gmail pullinstead of push

I have 4 Gmail accounts tied to my phone. Some are more important than others. How do I make some accounts pull at intervals that I set as oppose to push? Im not seeing this feature in my settings.
To do that, you must use another mail application instead of Gmail app, like the stock e-mail app or k-9, for example.
You can configure the accounts that you want to pull in these apps, and let those accounts you want to push in Gmail app.
disable gmail sync for that account (settings - accounts and sync - select an account), then hit menu - refresh in the gmail app to get new email

[Q] Email app not syncing IMAP

Hi,
I'm using the stock EMAIL app that comes on the phone (not sure if this is the stock Jelly bean app or a Samsung version). I'm using it because it works with my work's Exchange email/calendar nicely. I also have a Gmail account and my personal Email (my own website with email support) which is IMAP. The Exchange and Gmail seem to work fine. I have Exchange setup for push and I'll sometime get emails even before my desktop/Outlook see them. I don't use Gmail that much (only a couple emails a week) so I set it up to sync every 4 hours and that seems fine.
My personal IMAP account I get probably 30 email a day. I set up the program to sync every 10 minutes. It seems to just stop syncing for some reason I cant figure out. For example today, I received several emails overnight and a couple in the morning and the phone synced them fine. When I got to work and checked ~11am I had 5 messages waiting (using Thunderbird on my desktop) and when I checked the phone it didn't have them. If I go to the Inbox it says last sync was at 8:49am. The program will then do a sync and presto, all 5 messages popped up. But now all day the phone will not sync unless I go check my inbox which appears to force a sync.
So I know the information (account, password,..) are OK since it manually syncs no problem. I didn't try today but in the past if I change the sync interval to something else (5 or 15 minutes) it seems to sync for a while and then stop again. I tried deleting the account and then re-created it and that seemed to work for a while.
I have "sync while roaming set" and I do not set up a peak sync schedule so it should always be the same.
Any thoughts?
Thanks
