Ok
Here in Lebanon the numbers begin with 03 or 70 for mobiles and 01 05 09 for fixed numbers, my whole phonebook is based on that BUT the N1 when receiving a SMS is not showing it as 03****** but as +9613****** which means no recognition by the phonebook
I am using the mocado Desire ROM
This is going to sound unhelpful, but the only way you're going to get this to work is to change the entries in your phone book. Surprised the Nexus One makes this mistake but perhaps Google never considered the Lebanon locale.
You can use Contacts Clean-up from the market to make changing the numbers a lot easier.

Great app... you can use it to do a batch format of the phone numbers.
Is there any ROM with support for Lebanon / English ??

Hello, I currently have a Treo 650 and use a program called TakePhone to do some very useful dialing tricks. I travel to Singapore a lot from the US and when I am there I use a prepaid sim from StarHub. They have "free" dialing to the US (just pay for airtime) if you dial 018 rather than +1 before any numbers to the US. All of my phone book entries have +1 XXX for US numbers and I need to keep them that way because of auto synchronization. TakePhone can be told that when dialing from country code 65 (don't know how it can tell), replace +1 on numbers with 018 before dialing. It can also dial calling cards for you, etc.
I'll be getting my K-Jam soon and would like to replicate this functionality somehow. Anyone got any suggestions for Windows Mobile software to perform this task? I've never had a Windows Mobile device and hope that this can be done as easily as on the Treo.
Thank you in advance for any help!
bad news
+1 format numbers themselves will cause problems to you
You can not dial them directly from contacts some silly bug stops dialing.
The only solution I could find was to put a space between country code and + like " + xx (xxx) xxx xx xx "
Wonderful.
There a way I can intercept outgoing calls, for example I made a call from a contact that are stored like "+55 41 3338-6556" and before the phone start dialing I want change it to "014 41 3338-6556", just parse the world format number to another number, if this is possible I can do a program to use many operators or calling cards...
Any idea or a piece of source code?
Thanks
Arnaldo.
MagiCall can do this:

Any idea how to make it?
Dial patterns for Brazil
Hey, I have opened a thread on that on the HTC Wizard. I am widely interested in having such a solution because of the Brazilian networks. I keep switching between my 2 SIM Cards (Claro and TIM) and have to use different operator dial codes for each SIM card. It is a pain in the neck.
I am glad someone shares my misery
Please keep me posted if you happen to find a solution.

You mean how to get the program to do that?
Just create a New Rule,
filter = Phone - Outbound
Phone # = enter it or select from your contacts
Then go to the 2nd tab (Action)
Action1= Change Number
Call to: enter in New number here
Then on the 3rd tab add your scheduling preferences e.g. only Tuesdays.
I will test MagiCall, but I want to do it in code to make a solution for me, I think my problem is the same of feaps I live in Brazil too, I need to change operator code and if I change the SIM Card I need to change all phone numbers...
Arnaldo.
Feaps,
MagiCall works great!
Try it:
http://www.magisoftwarehouse.com/
My configuration:
-Filter
Rule Type: Phone - Outbound
Filter type: All
-Operation
Action1: Change number
Action2: Do nothing
Call to: 014{phone}[-3,0]
Remember I am at Curitiba, I use Brasil Telecom, 14 is the operation code, I store my phone numbers in the format: +55 41 3338-5665 so when I can MagiCall change it to 014413338-5665, so you can make more than one rule, for each operator (TIM/Claro) and enable the rule you want!
Malatesta, thanks for help!
Giacomitti.
G-r-e-a-t!
WOW, it sounds terrific. I was out and just got back from an Int'l trip. I will give it a try right away!
Kudos to you all!

Edit after testing: WORKS PERFECTLY!
Feaps,
I had changed my rule to:
Phone Outbound
Specific number
+55*
Change number
014{phone}[-3,0]
So when I dial from dial pad it does not change the number, and I had create another for 0800
Phone Outbound
Specific number
+550800*
Change number
{phone}[-3,0]
Remember put the 0800 rule first... It will work too...
Happy new year!

I really like your new approach, 'coz I can then create a rule for international numbers that are not necessarily starting with a + (e.g. 1-800-222-3421) to add 0015 in front of the "1"...
You may say it is easier just to edit these numbers and add a +, but most of them are auto synched via Plaxo or LinkedIn and then I cannot edit them effectively without having duplicates...
Very nice the use of wildcards and so. I will give the help a try.
Have a great 2007!

New version coming...
Giacomitti,
Please expect a version in Portuguese anytime soon
I am almost finishing it and the folks at MagiCall will recompile it.
This is hell of a great App!!!

Cool! But I use all my apps in english... But it's a nice feature!
It's the best app I had in my pocket.
Hi guys.
Whenever someone calls to me the number only appears instead of their contact name in the address book. Why is that? The only difference I know of is that all my numbers are stored with the international prefix for my country. But whenever someone calls to me, the number showing is without the prefix.
This worked on all previous HTC and Windows Mobile phones - is this something new on WP7?? Or are there any settings I can edit somewhere?
I feel totally lost!
I also have all my contacts numbers stored with the international prefix, but I don't seem to have the problem you describe.
My contacts sync through Exchange.
Maybe try storing a number without the international prefix, and see if it shows the number or the contact.
In Settings\Applications\Phone there is a setting "International assist" which automatically corrects mistakes while dialing internationally or while abroad. Maybe try turning it on or off.
This is really weird. I too sync my contacts through Exchange, but I don't think that matters.
The weird part is when people call me the incoming call is without international prefix, so when the contact in my address book is stored with the international prefix, it doesn't show who's calling!! If I remove the prefix, it works as it should.
As for the text (SMS) messages they go through the SMS center, which apparently uses the international prefix, so all SMS' I receive are with the prefix so all my contacts which I have stored the prefix on, it displays their names, all without displays with only the number!
Really frustrating!!!!
Any ideas?

Since this is a general WP7 thing, I just assumed you guys would look in the general WP7 forum
u can save the number with the number code as a home number..!or if u have already the number with the number code in ur "people", save the number without the number code as a home number..!
Can someone clarify if WM7 will show both the full name and company for incoming calls.
I save all my contacts in outlook and use the File As to show both Person & Company i.e. John Smith(ABC Ltd).
I have over 1500 contacts for work and it's one of the features that has kept me with Windows for years.
I've tried Android and that doesn't do it. Iphone doesn't do it. Nokia doesn't do it - Not sure about Blackberry.
Also does WM7 have smart dial - I'm sure I read that it didn't, again it's a feature that's kept me with Windows, I have a shocking memory and being able to dial by first name, last name, company or telephone number is invaluble.
Cheers
Pete
For me it shows only 1st and last name + picture if available. Company info is a no go as long as you don't incorporate it in the contact name itself as I usually do.
Smartdial: No. But searching the contact list is easy. Just type 2-3 letters and you have narrowed the results enough. I'm saying this with 700+ contacts.
...I very much like to use voice dial, too. Very reliable, in fact, and fast.

That's really dissapointing - as a business tool I find it so very useful.
I guess I'll have to stick with 6.5 until something else similar comes along.

Dear All,
I'm experiencing very strange issue with my WP7 HTC HD2, when receiving call form my saved contacts.
Almost all my contacts are saved in my phone with international dialing code as I'm living abroad.
When I receive call abroad, the name of my contact is displayed.
When I receive call at home the name is not displayed, only the number is displayed and I dont know who is calling while the number is saved in my phone with international dialing code.
To have the name displayed I have to save the number again without international dialing code.
I have the same issue when I dialing also.
Please help.

Try with the method described here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=907169
It works perfectly!
hi Android Community,
i am just about to reorganize my phonebook, i have used different methods of saving numbers to my phonebook e.g. for germany 004996122222 for person xyz, 0049 stands for country code 961 stands for area code and 22222 stands for the landline, usually Android displays incoming calls like this area code "space" and landline number, it also displays the city where the area code belongs too e.g. waidhaus which is near my hometown.
i still have misc problems the way android formats these numbers. still no problems calling contacts, but one issue was when i type the phone number manually android only suggests me the phone number of one specific person i have in my phonebook either i type in this persons phone number or another persons phone number (manually!!) this is way of wrong.
it displays me this persons name either it is this persons number or any other. i have had this bug years ago with my first htc desire still preserving; it started when beginning saving phone numbers the lol way e.g. 004996122222 where it was not necessary to save it this way unless you are in holidays abroad
due to different formatting of phone numbers from persons around the globe because of the int code &the different way of handling of the leading zero according the country you call to i still have issues, i know there is a way you can edit phone nr in google contacts (gmail) so that it can be updated with next sync. but that did not helped me, still issues from what i have written above
is there a app available that removes this bug of only displaying this one persons contact either i type in his number or anyone else, i think it is because of googles data collection rage and/or my sold htc desirewhich may have had a bug in htc sense and the availability of updates for this device (now i have sgs3 and cm whatever version i dont know and have no issues atm)
or maybe it was because of my mistake setting the phone number the proper way, i think there is no wrong in setting the phone number the way +1NewYorkCityAreaCodeBureauofPersonXYZ but i did probably made a mistake in doing this way making it difficult to reorganize my phonebook.
the problem with this has nothing to do with outgoing calls as there are no problems when typing 004996122222 it always works well (destination germany either i am in germany or abroad), but when a incoming call comes from a saved contact i suggest that it would properly display the orign of the call (only as it is with landline numbers either it is within a country or abroad but no mobile numbers as there are limitations to this),
i wonder if anybody can tell me if there is a builtin library in Android that handles this task i would appreciate your answers to this topic even if i could have written a book on this topic,
wishing you can be indulgent too on my write rage even if it could be explained a smarter way, if you have questions feel free to ask.
