Hi, so i have a unlocked htc hd2 from t-mobile.
First question is since im a newbie, does that 3G capability is software or hardware based ?
Second if its software based does anyone know if there is a software that'll enable hd2 to work on Rogers 3G bands?
thanks a lot in advance

I'm guessing you mean from T-Mobile US. You should probably check the forum specifically for the US T-Mobile HD2 and ask these questions there.
For your information they have removed the section for TMOUS HD2's and merged back in with the regular section. As to try and answer the OP's question, I personally use Energy ROM's because I like the latest build of 6.5.X and allot of Eye Candy however everyones taste is different. The best bet would be to try allot of ROM's out and see what one fits your taste. (just make sure it is compatible with TMOUS)

I posted the message to them, and this was their reply:
"Dear Mr. Koop, Thank you for contacting our Customer Support Center.
Your questions and suggestions are important to us and we do all that we can to provide you with an excellent service.
You recently wrote us about an issue with your HTC HD2.
The US HD2 devices that have more memory are T-mobile branded devices.
T-mobile has chosen to upgrade the devices with more memory.
This is not an option HTC is providing. Should you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us again.
Best regards, Ginette P HTC"
I wonder how easy/hard it would be to do the same to ours???
Old news. but thanks for sharing.
This isn't true and they know.
As you see, the extra RAM can be unlocked on the European HTC HD2.

Well, there are two kinds of memory, yes? Read Only Memory, and Random-access Memory. The T-Mobile Hd2 Internal Memory: ROM 1GB; RAM 576MB.
So, technically I do not think you can accuse HTC of being not factual in their reply. As far as I am aware, the search for 1GB of ROM on the European and Asian HD2 has not been successful.
I have seen nothing that has proven to me that the HTC branded HD2s have 1GB ROM.

*confuzed*... So, the European HD2 DOES have 576MB RAM, rite? Is there an easy way (as in, not flashing a new ROM... Quite happy with my T-Mobile ROM...) to enable this?
It's nice that you guys are so envious of us in the US, who have yet to even get the HD2..

You have to flash a different radio. Searching XDA-Developers will give you plenty of answers.

Do a search on some of the threads concerning reactions to the T-Mobile HD2 specs. The posts can be quite amusing and infuriating to read. Some of us who state that you got what you paid for have been unpopular on some of these threads.

You have to flash both a ROM AND a radio that supports this. It will not work with any official ROM that's been released so far.

I'm hoping for these posts to entertain me until I finally have the US HD2 in my hands.. with MORE RAM/ROM or RAMAROM or ROMARAM.
Then by the end of the year, there'll be posts about the US not getting the HD3 while everybody gets it..
SIM Looked as well?

Can I flash my Asian HD2 with a TMUS 2.02 ROM and use a European Sim, or will it then be looked to T-Mobile sim's?

Yup, and so goes the lives of gluttonous geeks, once cycle after another. It is just too bad that some people get their knickers all tied up in a knot when they think they do not have the very best and the latest.
No This can not be done.

changing rom is totally un connected to the sim being network locked, so as you found out changing rom does not unlock the phone.

Bugger... Would like the extra RAM, but I really don't NEED a different ROM... :-(

Unless you are intent on running many memory heavy apps at the same time, the extra RAM is pretty much unnecessary.
I run lots of programs- many of them quite heavy on RAM, but usually close one before opening another, and I've never run below 100MB free RAM, even with iGO8 running minimised.
Now, the ROM is a different matter- but little chance we will see any more without serious pruning to the ROM itself.
So if you're happy with the ROM you are on, stick with it!
On this thread http://www.xda-developers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=636024 crobs808 mention a GSM version of vouge. Is there such a thing since I had an elfin before and I pretty sure that its the gsm touch. Please explain.

I think he is talking about general GSM phones (keep in mind that some of the Android builds like myn's, would work for the Kaiser and the Polaris, which are GSM devices).
You are correct about the Elf/Elfin being a GSM version of the Vogue though.
I'm curious as to whether or NOT it's possible to design or reconstruct the framework of the ORIGINAL shipped ROM from T-Mobile USA on their model of the HD2...
If this is possible... or perhaps a workaround could be oriented... could all of the original "goodies" from the T-Mobile USA generic build be compiled into an "updated" Windows Mobile 6.5.x functional ROM?
Almost as if someone were to fashion an "unofficial" update for the T-Mobile USA HD2 community to be used for everyday features, with no add-ons, or unnecessary junk.
The reason for my curiosity is because I have been sent a PM on numerous occasions with questions regarding a Windows Mobile update for the HD2 to WM 6.5.x rather than the sometimes "outdated" WM 6.5 Professional.
Any insight on this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I've been through 5 different windows mobile devices in the last years and coocked roms for all of them.. i've seen this question come up a bunch of times, all suggested to grab a kitchen and begin to learn how to cook roms
Hello everybody, this is my first topic here.
After finally learned how to install cooked ROMs on my TMOUS HD2 and test several ROMs, I decided to open this topic.
I believe that as many like the original layout of the HTC Sense and like all hate TMobile crapwares that force us to swallow.
So far found only one identical to the original ROM without the crapwares TMobile, but unfortunately even this ROM still have some "craps" of Stock.
So here's my request ...
Does any cook would make a totally clean ROM with only the original components from HTC and Microsoft? Of course some software cooked welcome (Full Office Mobile, Wifi Routers, 3G Modem and others), but keeping all the original features.
Obviously, since everyone is doing keeping drivers touch of 2.10.
I believe many owners would love TMOUS HD2.
But I congratulate all the cooks, because each of the ROMs that have tested his character.
Thank you all and hope that someone meets this humble request

Yes I tested the Energy ROM, very good but very customizable.
The closer to the ideal that I found was the Lite version of this topic, but still has a legacy of TMobile and Compass will not work.

But thanks for the tip.

You are not going to find many more stripped down ROMs than Energy Standard Version, he does put some extra apps in, but if you have a TMOUS, you have around 770 meg of ROM free, and unless you actually use the apps they are not going to impact speed ..
So not really sure what you are looking for ....
Energy Reference ROM
This may be what you are looking for ...
The Energy Reference ROM
It is on the Main Energy Thread page, brand new version, I think it is the green download link under the reference version ...
Should be just what you are looking for .....

Well that is true, but NRGZ28 had quit doing reference ROMs, but he decided to put a new one up yesterday .... , so until then there were no Reference ROMs there, and there still are not in the TMO section ...
But you are correct, if the OP uses our advice he will be good to go ...

Simplifying things ...
Just find it interesting without a ROM Stock crapwares .... just that, without any further customization. I downloaded almost all versions of the Energy and despite features like the board I do not like dea some changes.
I hope I was clearer this time ...

Hey,
i want to use a different provider for phone and internet.
There are dual-clips for Kaiser on wimobile, but im note sure if this is system dependent.
Is it even possible to use 3g and phone at different sim-cards at the same time? Or do i have to switch to the 3g data-sim for internet and then the phone isnt working the whole time the connection stands?
Thx
