Well, i'm in San Diego, CA, and i have not been able to update my location weather. I can use google earth fine, but the weather tab says i'm in El Bayadh, Algeria!

I have a similar issue
My location changes constantly just from moving to different parts of my house, One time it will say Swindon, which is correct, other times it will say Wiltshire, which in a way is correct but then sometimes it says Wroughton, which being close is not where i am.
check your world clock, if you have left that with anything other than my location selected it won't work. also check that the weather tab is set to my location too, same reason.

that sounds like you may live equidistant to multiple phone masts.
Ya, both are set to My location. I've tried soft resets, turning off agps, i even tried removing the weather tab. its slightly annoying.

I think this guy is a "Jumper"!
sorry no clue then.just seems random, makes me wonder whether not all masts are tied into the location services.
Thanks SamSamuel. That worked perfectly and now it tunes in to wherever I am !!

Currently there is no answer for this. Simply add your location manually and select that for the clock location. I'm doing that and have never had an issue with the fact that "my location" is in the list.
Undoing theCAB
Thanks for the reply. Any idea how to undo the CAB's removal of MY LOCATION from the list witthout a reset? Thanks.

I've never tried to remove it myself, so I can't be sure, but you could just disable and re-enable Sense in the Today settings. That should do the trick.
just wanted to share an experience i have had
i was having the same problem with the "my location" updating since i updated to the 1.6 WWE ROM
what i discovered is, when i go to central london, it works, but when i am in north london it doesnt - now for those that know london, you will recognise the town Camden - well when in central london it picks up place name Camden
i think the problem might be to do with the device being unable to recognise where you are - if i find it i will post the link to a thread i read last night (1:23am lol) that said it was possible to add custom locations to the weather widget and this might very well resolve the errors with getting weather at these locations, but i have made no changes to any settings neither felt the need to remove "my location" and it works fine suddenly

There have been a few threads on this problem - none of them have come up with a full solution as yet, though some 'workarounds' are available.
The situation you describe is typical though. Another poster described exactly the same situation for four different parts of London - 2 working - 2 not!
I did a little bit of analysis and research and I do not think the problem lies (in the main) with the phone not being able to recognise where it is. Most posters say the 'my location' in GoogleMaps works fine!
I think the problem is one of 'translation'. The location code used by GoogleMaps is a different format to the one used to query AccuWeather when you manually select a town/city on the Weather page.
Somewhere along the line, the one has to be 'translated into the other. I THINK (and I stress that deliberately), that this translation works for certain locations and not for others.
If someone actually KNOWS how this translation works (and who 'owns' the 'translation' process), I would be very interested to hear about it.

how do you do this? (add location manually). my 'add location' is greyed out. i'm not using a data plan, but using wi-fi to update the weather.
thanks
update: i figured out what was going on. the app only allows 12 cities. once you're 'full' the 'add location' greys out. and the '+add city' disappears.
After the Sim Contacts update my weather thinks that it's day when it's night and vice versa... anyone one else experiensed the same thing or is this a server related problem with the weather providers?
Dunno sorry but I have noticed that the weather app is usually around an hour behind "dawn" wherever I am. And I think that the closk is set correctly.
ok... couse it's been light outside for 4 hours now... last night it showed me it was sunny when it had been dark outside for like 12 hours
I've also had that. mine just seems to correct itself after a soft reset!!

Yes, I find when I am on the moon that it always seems to be nightime on the weather tab. Sorry, couldn't resist. For me it is nothing to do with the location, it cleary says the location beside the idcon and it's always correct.
Regards.
When you set up your HD2 after a hard reset, you may be tempted to disable the Google locations because the system warns you it my cause data costs. But if you disable it, your weather information will be wonky, including the midnight sun and noon-day moon.
similar problem raised here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=618284
HD2 software and updates did not cause this problem. It seems the problem is caused by the weather source -- AccuWeather.com.
I cured the problem by doing a hard reset to remove all hot-fixes and enabling Google locations.

Here is the response from AccuWeather:
Stephen,
You will need to contact HTC with the issue you are having. AccuWeather only provides the data and we found it was not a data feed issue.
AccuWeather Solution Center
does anyone know can i change to get weather information not come from AccuWeather, maybe change back to local weather center, for example, i'm in hong kong, can i change the source come from hong kong observatory?
Here's something: I notice that in the registry, the AccuWeather string is set to :
EUR|UK|UK001|LONDON
Anyone tried changing it to:
ASI|HK|HK---|HONG KONG
(p.s. I get a 'communication error' when I try.)
really want to change, as the informations are different from local center

I contacted AccuWeather too, but I did not tell them the problem is on HTC. I gave them the screenshot of their website (which shows a moon @ 9:xx am) per their request.
The problem may have been fixed, but I can't confirm as HK is raining ... so no moon nor sun.
Ive searched Google and couldn't find a answer to this. Im running Energy.IMAGIO.23563.Sense2.5.Cookie.HomeTab.Apr.20 and every time i try to update the weather it just sits n then says no weather data available? Even on Google maps it says location temp unavailable? Anyone have any ideas? I first thought gps is bad but im a noob and not sure how to tell if the gps test is good or bad?
Sounds like you don't have My Location turned on.
I double checked it and its on so not sure whats up. Even tried hard n soft reset plus diff roms. Was working 1min then just stopped at 11pm one night

Well . . . weather data does not use GPS, so that is not the issue.
When you click on the weather tab, does it have your location correct?
Can you add your city and see if that improves the situation?
As for the GPS, have you run "QuickGPS" to download the initial satellite information?

How about selecting a city near you. We just need to see if it can download weather data for ANY city.

Im having the same exact problem with my Touch Pro 2, you click update the circle spins and then it says no weather data available. I called vzw tech and they are sending me a new one
I am having the same problem with my Tilt 2 on AT&T. It works fine on edge, but won't work at all on 3G.
I've received a new device and its not working near my house, drove 275 miles yesterday and only wouldnt work within a 30 mile radius of my home.
Actually bought a ****ty imagio too and thats not updating either, per someone at ppcgeeks, apparently it is a mapping issue and HTC is aware.
Something has gone very wrong with my GPS/location. "My Location gets updated, weather updated as well but it always shows as Denver, I live on the other side of the country.
At first I thought it was ROM related. This is still happening with over 4 different roms, Energies, Miris, including the official T-Mobile versions too. I have tried all the various methods found in the searches but it still does not change, just Denver. What can it possibly be? I have run out of possible solutions to try. Please help?
And as a last resort, I may have to keep it at official stock and bring it in to T-Mobile to have them look at it. I used hspl3 to unlock it, do I need something to re-lock it?

If you click on the clock it should take you to the World Clock settings. Make sure "My Location" is checked. You probably have that unchecked and Denver checked. Denver is one of the default locations.
Yeah I tried that. My Location is enabled. I set time/date/location at the world clock and the windows one in the start/setting/. I got both of it showing time for CST, but when I update weather, Denver weather shows up. What is strange is, as I am traveling across town, location does not change at all.

Probably a network issue. Call T-Mo.
I've got a problem that's not related to GPS but locations. When I'm at home, the weather widget says my location is Sweden, however, Google Maps finds almost my exact location (two streets away or so). If I take a one km walk it finds the location and says Stockholm. I tried re-installing the locations software with no luck. Maybe my phone doesn't like my flat? :S

If you read what I actually said I clearly state that it's a problem with the weather widget (which naturally does display weather)
I have a different, but frustrating issue:
On the clock widget where you also can see your location and the weather:
I live in a town called Geldrop in the Netherlands, which always showed on the clock widget, including the weather corresponding to this town.
Now since a couple of days (do not know when exactly)...it just says: 'current location'...when I select the widget, bring it to the left bottom on the homescreen to edit it, I cannot select Geldrop anymore, it says it does not exist.....
My girlfriend has a DHD as well, and hers still says Geldrop.
Now, I do have flashed Leedroid, kernels etc, etc, so I am not sure if that has anything to do with it...but is anyone able to point me in the direction of the solution?

The problem I'm experiencing only seems to appear when I'm in Stockholm, nowhere else.
I had the same problem with it saying "Current Location" before too, both on the DHD and my old WM. It solved itself eventually. However, the reason Geldrop doesn't "exist" is because it's not added in the built in database that comes from HTC. Because of this, you'll only see Geldrop when it's your current location since it gets the name of the location via AGPS and then looks it up on Acuweather.com. There's a program to edit the database for WM which I used to add Opitter in Belgium with, but I don't know if there's one for Android.

Yes, but the fact that your girlfriends phone finds the location while yours doesn't is very strange since it's the same device. I will report this tomorrow.
Another thing that's strange is the weather animation for fog. On the weather tab it says FOG with black letters all over the animation while this text is not visible on the clock widget. I asked HTC about this and they said it's all as it should be. Seems strange to me though.

Okey, so I mailed HTC today and they told me to remove the ip for the Proxy and port from the API, which seemed a bit strange to me, and to my disappointment it only made it worse by saying "Connection failed". Yey!
I am having the exact same problem, my original htc weather widget shows only "Sweden". This happened since the upgrade to 2.2.
I'm pretty sure the weather information is correct though. Since I've compared it to other weather apps and widgets. I've switched to beautiful widgets temporarily (well for a couple of months now), and there it shows even the parts of stockholm if I move around. Right now it's showing Fruängen which is correct.
I remember reading about some problem with the htc weather widget long ago on the modaco forums when 2.2 came. I don't think it's fixed yet (at least from HTCs side).

Yeah. That was my argument too when I spoke to HTC, but they said it's Googles fault even though Google maps finds my location correctly. They didn't accept it as their fault and therefore they didn't even file a report about it to the developers.

Hello,
I've got a similar problem with weather widget and location too...
I went to a small village for Christmas and since this time, my location in the widget is locked at this village.
When I open the weather app, I can see my good location very quickly, but after the refresh the location returns to the bad village.
And my location in google maps or in google’s website is good...
I have the same problem I have to delete all data for weather and clock and update it again. anyone have any idea why this happen?
