After the Sim Contacts update my weather thinks that it's day when it's night and vice versa... anyone one else experiensed the same thing or is this a server related problem with the weather providers?
Dunno sorry but I have noticed that the weather app is usually around an hour behind "dawn" wherever I am. And I think that the closk is set correctly.
ok... couse it's been light outside for 4 hours now... last night it showed me it was sunny when it had been dark outside for like 12 hours
I've also had that. mine just seems to correct itself after a soft reset!!

Yes, I find when I am on the moon that it always seems to be nightime on the weather tab. Sorry, couldn't resist. For me it is nothing to do with the location, it cleary says the location beside the idcon and it's always correct.
Regards.
When you set up your HD2 after a hard reset, you may be tempted to disable the Google locations because the system warns you it my cause data costs. But if you disable it, your weather information will be wonky, including the midnight sun and noon-day moon.
similar problem raised here:

HD2 software and updates did not cause this problem. It seems the problem is caused by the weather source -- AccuWeather.com.
I cured the problem by doing a hard reset to remove all hot-fixes and enabling Google locations.

Here is the response from AccuWeather:
Stephen,
You will need to contact HTC with the issue you are having. AccuWeather only provides the data and we found it was not a data feed issue.
AccuWeather Solution Center
does anyone know can i change to get weather information not come from AccuWeather, maybe change back to local weather center, for example, i'm in hong kong, can i change the source come from hong kong observatory?
Here's something: I notice that in the registry, the AccuWeather string is set to :
EUR|UK|UK001|LONDON
Anyone tried changing it to:
ASI|HK|HK---|HONG KONG
(p.s. I get a 'communication error' when I try.)
really want to change, as the informations are different from local center

I contacted AccuWeather too, but I did not tell them the problem is on HTC. I gave them the screenshot of their website (which shows a moon @ 9:xx am) per their request.
The problem may have been fixed, but I can't confirm as HK is raining ... so no moon nor sun.

Hi All,
Wonder if you can help - Within the Sony Ericsson Panel 1 (or 2) the weather doesnt seem to update correctly for my location.
If I change it to say New York - it updates the time and weather, however when I select my hometown (Milton Keynes - UK) the time changes, but the weather pic stays to whatever the last location was.
The weather changes correctly for London instantly but doesnt seem to change for other locations in the UK (Tried a few, Birmingham, Northampton, Blackpool etc)
Can anyone confirm whether the weather is supported for other UK cities other than London - Touch Flo weather picks up the individual cities ok but to be honest I actually prefer the sony ericsson panel!
Seems a bit strange they have the towns / cities listed but they are not supported?
In an effort to get it to work in case it was broken by something i installed, I have done a hard reset.. still doesnt work
Thanks in advance,
Craig
Have the same issue with mine. I live in Lincoln, but have to set it to Nottingham and it still never updates.
Have resorted to using London.

Its a shame isnt it
I have also resorted to London - its annoying that the city is listed but doesnt work. TouchFlo3D does but im not sure what service is uses for its weather

On the Sony Ericsson Panel (1 or 2), the weather loads for a while with Nottingham, however after a while it changes to the default grey cloud icon. Don't get this issue with London.

Oh lol, is that cloud with an umbrella default? I just thought that always showed because the weather is crap at the minute lol
Yup that's the icon for weather FAIL.
Should just use SPB Mobile Shell panel.
Best panel atm
I've also had the problem of the weather not updating on my SPB panel.
Whilst installing another program on my Xperia today, a message came up telling me to update to the latest .NET Compact Framework as the version on my device was older (2. something, on a Vodafone ROM).
I've installed the latest version (3.5) from here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en
Now, not only does my other program work but so does the weather function on the SPB panel!
I hope this helps.
i was wondering about that too on the panel and i figured it out. press on the cloud or picture of the weather and it should connect online to accu weather. type in location or do it by zip code. it will fine your home location then set it to add location. exit out of there and go to the panel options go to select your location pick it, then it will update correctly this is what i did. pm me if im not clear on this thanks
THAT is strange.
My X1 was updating weather fine (manually) through all this time,
and now suddenly, it stopped. It just doesn't update it.
We talk about SE Panels.
Strange, since it also seems to have problem with updating currencies on MSConverter.
Can this be connected or it's just coincidence??
Any clue??
This cab does what it says on the tin and removed MY LOCATION from the list of locations in HTC Weather, however it still appears on the Home screen under the digital clock.......anybody know how to get rid of it completely?

Currently there is no answer for this. Simply add your location manually and select that for the clock location. I'm doing that and have never had an issue with the fact that "my location" is in the list.

I've never tried to remove it myself, so I can't be sure, but you could just disable and re-enable Sense in the Today settings. That should do the trick.
just wanted to share an experience i have had
i was having the same problem with the "my location" updating since i updated to the 1.6 WWE ROM
what i discovered is, when i go to central london, it works, but when i am in north london it doesnt - now for those that know london, you will recognise the town Camden - well when in central london it picks up place name Camden
i think the problem might be to do with the device being unable to recognise where you are - if i find it i will post the link to a thread i read last night (1:23am lol) that said it was possible to add custom locations to the weather widget and this might very well resolve the errors with getting weather at these locations, but i have made no changes to any settings neither felt the need to remove "my location" and it works fine suddenly

There have been a few threads on this problem - none of them have come up with a full solution as yet, though some 'workarounds' are available.
The situation you describe is typical though. Another poster described exactly the same situation for four different parts of London - 2 working - 2 not!
I did a little bit of analysis and research and I do not think the problem lies (in the main) with the phone not being able to recognise where it is. Most posters say the 'my location' in GoogleMaps works fine!
I think the problem is one of 'translation'. The location code used by GoogleMaps is a different format to the one used to query AccuWeather when you manually select a town/city on the Weather page.
Somewhere along the line, the one has to be 'translated into the other. I THINK (and I stress that deliberately), that this translation works for certain locations and not for others.
If someone actually KNOWS how this translation works (and who 'owns' the 'translation' process), I would be very interested to hear about it.

how do you do this? (add location manually). my 'add location' is greyed out. i'm not using a data plan, but using wi-fi to update the weather.
thanks
update: i figured out what was going on. the app only allows 12 cities. once you're 'full' the 'add location' greys out. and the '+add city' disappears.
Hi all
I'm loving the sense clock widget with weather but I have an annoying problem with it; in my home location I don't get any weather information. If I add the exact same location (same capitalisation, spelling etc) manually and set the widget to use that location it works fine and if I leave it on "current location" I start getting weather updates as soon as I leave my local area.
I started pulling some of the APKs with weather in the name from the phone and tried to look at the xmls to see if there was something I could tweak to get it working but the files seem to be in some sort of binary encoding that I can't open, so I'm stuck already.
Anyone able to suggest what to try next to get this working properly?

I think it had something to do with your provider settings. When I got the Desire I still had my old provider (KPN). I also had this "current locations weather bug" after two weeks I switched over to Vodafone, updated the APN settings, and everything is ok! Hope this helps you a little!

TThanks for this, tried resaving apn details but no change, so annoying that it work everywhere but at home!
I've emailed HTC support about it, got this reply:
Dear Leszek, Thank you for contacting us in regards to weather updates, I can help you with that. The location service for weather updates is based on information from your cell provider and relies on the masts in your area being enabled for this service. If you are in a 3g area disabling this from settings, wireless controls, mobile networks and then updating may help. I trust that this resolves your query, please do not hesitate to contact us again if required. Thank you for contacting HTC. Best regards, Mike B HTC

to which I replied
Dear Mike, I do not believe that the problem is with the location service -- as I said, my current location is correctly given as "Cambridge (Current)". Nonetheless, I tried disabling the mobile network, and indeed have now tried all combinations of disabling/enabling the mobile network, wireless and gps, none of which worked. Is there a way to see exactly what weather data the device is requesting? I know I had trouble on a previous phone, which was requesting data for "Cambridge, Cambridge" instead of "Cambridge, UK".

Still waiting for a reply to that one -- it's been a week though, so it's becoming unlikely that they'll actually reply with a real solution.
I have search around and can't find a solution either, at the end, i just remove the time widget, add to the home screen again, and choose city instead of current location...

This is what I have done as a work around but I would like to use the location aware one as it's cool to have the local weather when I commute to work (40miles away), was hoping we could hack the app to make it work better as it doesn't look like HTC are going to finish. I guess I need to dust off my Java skills and start reading about JF's decompiler.
I have the same issue and find it very annoying!
I installed "Beautiful Widgets" and set that up to show the clock with weather set to be location based and it works fine (unfortunately it's not quite as beautiful as the HTC widget!).
Surely this proves that the bug is with the HTC widget and not anything provider based? Anyone else fancy trying to see if Beautiful widgets works when the HTC widget doesn't?
Similarly, the weathernetwork widget works fine for my location whereas the HTC one doesn't
Is Anyone having a problem with the news and weather widget where the weather graph forecast is not showing the forecast, it only shows upto the time I update to.
Yes, mine's been like it for a while.
Same here. Where are you guys from? It might indicate some failure to communicate between a local data provider and Google. I live in France.
EDIT: Nevermind, just noticed your locations were indicated. Might be that whoever carried the data for Europe stopped...
same here, although i think the graph is correct (next 24 hours), but the scrollable bar shows wrong time and doesn't update the numbers for each hour.

Lots of complaints. It has to do with daylight savings. http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Google+Mobile/thread?tid=14ddf4a0daf367f4&hl=en
EDIT: Oh, and if you change location to Singapore (either irl or in settings [+1 for irl]) it works. So it's on googles end.
I've got a problem that's not related to GPS but locations. When I'm at home, the weather widget says my location is Sweden, however, Google Maps finds almost my exact location (two streets away or so). If I take a one km walk it finds the location and says Stockholm. I tried re-installing the locations software with no luck. Maybe my phone doesn't like my flat? :S

I have a different, but frustrating issue:
On the clock widget where you also can see your location and the weather:
I live in a town called Geldrop in the Netherlands, which always showed on the clock widget, including the weather corresponding to this town.
Now since a couple of days (do not know when exactly)...it just says: 'current location'...when I select the widget, bring it to the left bottom on the homescreen to edit it, I cannot select Geldrop anymore, it says it does not exist.....
My girlfriend has a DHD as well, and hers still says Geldrop.
Now, I do have flashed Leedroid, kernels etc, etc, so I am not sure if that has anything to do with it...but is anyone able to point me in the direction of the solution?

The problem I'm experiencing only seems to appear when I'm in Stockholm, nowhere else.
I had the same problem with it saying "Current Location" before too, both on the DHD and my old WM. It solved itself eventually. However, the reason Geldrop doesn't "exist" is because it's not added in the built in database that comes from HTC. Because of this, you'll only see Geldrop when it's your current location since it gets the name of the location via AGPS and then looks it up on Acuweather.com. There's a program to edit the database for WM which I used to add Opitter in Belgium with, but I don't know if there's one for Android.

Yes, but the fact that your girlfriends phone finds the location while yours doesn't is very strange since it's the same device. I will report this tomorrow.
Another thing that's strange is the weather animation for fog. On the weather tab it says FOG with black letters all over the animation while this text is not visible on the clock widget. I asked HTC about this and they said it's all as it should be. Seems strange to me though.

Okey, so I mailed HTC today and they told me to remove the ip for the Proxy and port from the API, which seemed a bit strange to me, and to my disappointment it only made it worse by saying "Connection failed". Yey!
I am having the exact same problem, my original htc weather widget shows only "Sweden". This happened since the upgrade to 2.2.
I'm pretty sure the weather information is correct though. Since I've compared it to other weather apps and widgets. I've switched to beautiful widgets temporarily (well for a couple of months now), and there it shows even the parts of stockholm if I move around. Right now it's showing Fruängen which is correct.
I remember reading about some problem with the htc weather widget long ago on the modaco forums when 2.2 came. I don't think it's fixed yet (at least from HTCs side).

Yeah. That was my argument too when I spoke to HTC, but they said it's Googles fault even though Google maps finds my location correctly. They didn't accept it as their fault and therefore they didn't even file a report about it to the developers.

I've got a similar problem with weather widget and location too...
I went to a small village for Christmas and since this time, my location in the widget is locked at this village.
When I open the weather app, I can see my good location very quickly, but after the refresh the location returns to the bad village.
And my location in google maps or in google’s website is good...
I have the same problem I have to delete all data for weather and clock and update it again. anyone have any idea why this happen?
