I have been using a 4GB micro Sd card for some time now.
But decided id fork out for a 16GB atlast.
Fitted the 16GB last night, No problem, Bought FPSECE 0.10 support version and a few games.
Today at work, Lunch time I pulled out my htc hd2 to enjoy abit of gaming and showing off the phone, But the Sd card was not found. I restarted the phone several times, tried everything, then decided I would format the phone.
After a format, The card was found again! yay I thought, but lunch was over so,now im home from work, The SD card is no longer read... I have now tried my 2GB micro SD card, My 4GB Micro SD card and my 16GB Micro SD card, All of which wont detect in the HD2, But will in my ORBIT 2 and PC card reader.
Is it a software fault, Or a hardware fault?
Thanks
Ok
Just formatted the phone again. Instantly the Sd card was readable.
So I formatted the card from the phone..Now just hoping for the best.
My guess is some software must have had a bug or virus or something blocking the sd card from being read on the hd2.
Odd.
Its SW problem not HW. I had a same prob after I installed the " tnyynt SD TuneUp " tweak. You just need to find what it is in your phone. Not easy task
Try different ROM-easier way
16gb sdhc card failed after restart.
When it is working (Straight after format) put anything more than 500mb of data on it and it screws up!
Data transfere is around 300kb/s!!! takes the monkey abit.
Then after a soft reset, Its gone again.
I conclude the SD card is defective. I shall be getting a refund.

Hi , all something strange happened to my XDA II SD Memory card!!! , i was installing an application on the SD Card and i went to the SD Card to explore it searching for something while the XDA while installing but i couldn't see all my old files , when i check the memory status i can see that i am using 70MB if the 256MB but i can't locate the files.
can any one help.
I had the same problem with a Sandisk 256mb card.
I've found that it works fine with a Lexar 128mb card though.
So it looks like the XDA2 has problems with SD cards as well as a completely duff bluetooth implementation.

Man thats bad news, have you tried doing a soft reset.
Also if you have a PC card SD reader try running Scandisk on the
card.
BTW as you can see it not a good idea to access your SD card while
programs/files are being installed / written to it.
HTH
Sandisk
ok interesting , i am also using Sandisk 256MB!!!
i tried soft reset and it didn't help.i will try to find a PC reader and see if i can get anything out of it or i might try to use it on my brother XDA 1 because most of the files were used on my old XDA with PPC2002 rom.
Hurray, its not just me then. I have a 128mb dane elec card and 70meg has disapeared. Im not sure if anything was on teh card previously and I dont have a card reader to check. Its most annoying!
Storage Card slot kaput
I bought a brand new generic 2GB SD card and had it working for a day. It just wasn't working anymore one morning I have left my XDA II overnight on the cradle. Now it wont accept any MMC or SD card I put on it. Any idea what could have gone wrong?
When it was still working I tried copying media files on it (in Microsoft knowledgebase they confirmed in order for media files to work in storage cards you have to create My Documents folder did this on the several cards I tested but to no avail)
The storage card I bought was 2 GB, O2 site says XDA II has been tested on 1GB storage cards--could I have burnt my SD card slot?
Maybe the card brand was too generic-- but then I tried other branded SD and MMC cards after the day my slot stopped recognizing and it still didn't recognize Sandisk (512) and Leica cards (64MB)
The SD card in question is still detected if you put it in a card reader then connect it to a PC
Help badly needed, I'm losing so much productivity with very small storage/ROM space

Well, I'm using Kingston 2GB SD card and it works perfect... and it's a high speed card.
You may have your SD slot broken. My slot for example from time to time gets the card disconnected (let's say, every few hours), and I have to pull it off and put back in.
in a sdcard reader undelete tools from pc can recover files from sd cards as they can with harddisk
like undelte plus
I have a 2gb SD card that was working, but I thought I would be clever and use the SD reader in my Tosh so that I could transfer large files more easily to the card for my exec. But when I was asked to format my card by Toshiba's software, I went through the process and thought it was successful. But then at end of process the phrase "Please stop a SD memory card, then insert the card again" came up, so took card out, re-entered it in the reader and tried to attempt to transfer files to it. However windows then told me that it was not formatted and would I like to format it. So yes, I do, but although windows formatted it, it reduced the capacity from 2gb to 956 mb or thereabouts. It was recognised by the exec again, but with severe consequences as never bought a 1 gb card.
Help please...
Sounds to me like your card reader doesn't read cards bigger than 1 GB. I had the same issue with my 4 GB card. Tried it with a different reader and the PC saw all 4 gigs, never asking me to format. See if you can try a newer SD card reader?
The same thing happened to me with a 1 gigabyte pcmcia card. It was working fine in my laptop then I put it in the card slot on an Ipaq and it also did a format. The card is now exactly half the memory it should be and no way can I get it to work as a 1 gig card even though I have tried formatting on the pc.
I have found that my 2GB card formatted on my Palm LifeDrive was not readable on my laptop. When I formatted using a Toshiba format utility the space on the card was down to 1GB. It did work okay on my JJ. I had to re-format it on my Palm and then for reason it was okay again and could be read by my laptop - I did not use any card readers as the laptop has a built-in reader. And I re-formatted on my laptop using XP format softwsre and the 2GB storage was retained.
@Wannabe, have you got access to another PC or card reader to reformat your card. Also I found WM5 file managers could not reformat and regain the lost capacity
been on to Tosh
Toshiba are extremely helpful...not! Told me to get another card and see if that works as it might not accept the card. This is a Sandisk card which I believe is made by Toshiba...or at least in collaboration. Am going to check Sandisk for an answer as well...keep the ideas coming please
Hi there.
Try reading this post i made ages ago about formatting and re-newing your sd cards. It might help. It is regarding my 512mb sd card, but the principles are the same.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=21920&highlight=lydiachris
I strongly recommend using media recover, even if it's only a trial version to "wipe" your sd card to re-new it to it's factory condition. It covers and re-formats the whole card sector by sector.

Give it a go and let us know.

If none of the other suggestions work then try this program that I posted on another thread:-
SDFormatter.zip:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=30900&highlight=
Use it with a card reader, follow instructions and your PPC should be able to read the full capacity.
SanDisk have taken back card...
Thanks for the suggestions, will keep in mind for future. Sandisk took back the card and found that it had become corrupted so have sent out another one. tks for suggestions though.
I have a 2gb storage card that use to work before I bricked my phone. So, I sent it to Cingular for them to fix it and they did. But now I am trying to install back the files I had on my 2gb storage card and its not showing up on the phone. Any help is much appreciated. Thank you.
i would try another sdcard
try the sdcard in a sdcardreader
if both resulted in failure i would say that
they by fixing 1 thing broke another
I think they replaced the motherboard. I dont know if they gave me a defective one.
i am having the same problem...Ive had my storage card for quite a while now and had 1g of memory used up and now all of a sudden none of my music or photos that are on the card are being shown. It still detects my storage card and that the space is used but i cant find the files anywhere.

Removing and re-inserting the card as well as performing a soft reset can make vanished files re-appear. However it depends whether there is corruption on the card.
Does the card work using a card reader on the PC?
If it does and you have tried the above, then I would copy everything from the card to the PC, reformat the card and then put everything back again. If the PC does not see all the files either then you may, if it's worth it, try some software to recover files from the corrupted card. (This os often not 100% successful, but worth a try of there is something vital on there).

I have 3 8525's that are not detecting the 2G memory card when it is inserted. I have to perform a soft-reset in order for the device to recognize it. I now the cards are good because they work in my Axim.
I have 4 2G memory cards doing this which are Kingston & Sandisk. Two of the SanDisk cards are brand new.
Are there any known issues?
I have this problem as well. I'm not sure what the source is.
I cannot even get it to work with a soft reset though.
The card I have is a 1Gb Kingston, and it definitely works because I tested it on my computer.
I guess I'll Just call Cingular when I have a bigger problem at hand.
2gb sandisk card on 8525
I used to have this proem on a brand new card. I would put it in and nothing would happen. But insert in my PC, and it works. What I did was format it to fat32 (from the factory installed FAT) put it in the 8525 and it showed up. Just to test again, tried formatting back to FAT and didn't work again. back to FAT32 and no more probs. Hope it helps for you guys.
Hi,
i have a new sandisk 2GB microSD card in my hermes. Because i have no card reader for my pc i want to format the card in my hermes.
Is it possible to do so? I cant found any option for formating.
The hermes says in settings >> memory that no card is installed.
I thing it is because the card is unformated.
I do so, but there is no storage card.
The mobile device also says that there is no storage card.
I know that Resco File explorer can format the card but most cards are formatted fat by default. The Hermes at least recognises this. If you're not even getting the sd card recognised then there may be either a problem with the card or with the Hermes.
It would be best to just fork over a few bucks and get a card reader for the pc as if the pc is recognising the sd card that means that the Hermes may have a problem. Try formatting FAT32 anywaty then put back into Hermes. May work.
If the pc doesn't recognise the sd card, does happen that new cards go bang, then I'd suggest taking the card back and getting a new one.
Cheers...
8gB micro SD
Hello,
I have the same problem. My 1gB card works fine in my Hermes but the new 8gB is not recognized. Spec says phone can only take maximum of 2gB but other forums say can use 32gB. My latest clue is that the card was preformatted with FAT32 and the Hermes requires FAT. However FAT can only deal with Volumes up to 4gB. So I stumped.
If you read a bit further you'd realise that these people with 32 Gb cards run custom roms which have the patch applied...
There is a cab file running around that allows you to run sdhc cards on WM 5/6 but I can't remember what its called (try sdhc patch in search)...
Hey guys,
I've searched for a while but can't find a solution for my problem..
After flashing XBmod-Yuki rom V 2.00 everything works fine (also with older NoDo-roms) but when I change the region&language settings into something different, there's either a restart loop or a storage card error.
I've tried several ways of flashing, including this way.
My SD card: Transcend 16GB class6. Btw, a 2GB Sandisk works like a charm..
Is there any help out there??
Kind regards...
It could just be the card, SD cards seem to play a huge part of wp7, there are many problems that can crop up, sometimes you might not see them until you fill up the card to a certain level or the moon is full just depends... Not an answer but a possibility
Sent from my HD2 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
I think I had the same issue today, when I turned it on today, I had a SD Card problem. I pulled out the battery, re booted the phone, arrived in the main menu then.. it freezed! =/. I pulled out the battery, pulled out the SD Card and plugged it again and now it works fine!

Didn't work for me.
Unfortunately, everything's fine after a hardreset but with a reboot (manually or to make an update/flash a cab) there is this storage card error!!
before you do anything after a flash, sync with zune and dump a few hundred meg of music on it, my card is unstable until i do that.
HD2 does not recognize a brand new 8GB Sandisk.
Any help please - my phone does not seem to recognize any SD cards anymore since I installed WM7.
I even bought a brand new 8GB card, and the phone does not recognize it at all.
The 4GB SD card that used to work fine, is also not detected anymore, but that could be due to it being encrypted now _ although I formatted with the Panasonic SD format tool.
I put 4GB of music on it - no (positive) effect...
