Tmobile HD2: desperately need flash in opera browser - HD2 General

I have almost ripped my hair out trying to get flash to work
in the opera browser. I have Opera 9.7 (build 35801) I tried installing
flash lite 3.1, different ver. of opera mobile, still with no success.
Can anyone help?

there's a version of opera 10 with flash somewhere around here or you can try this

try skyfire

I believe the new version of Opera that comes with it dropped the multi touch capability, so you gain flash but lose multi touch.

I agree, try skyfire. The best browser for flash pages, you can watch iPlayer, tvcatchup, hulu and pretty much any flash site.

Option1: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=544770
Another option is to download this modified Opera 10 beta 3 cab(once you get used to having no pinch-to-zoom Opera 10 is much faster and better than Opera 9.7): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5618575&postcount=1458
While this won't enable you to view all the flash-content on the web it should allow you to view embedded youtube-clips directly in your browser.

The full version is out - no need for beta
http://m.opera.com/ (mobile browser friendly link)
You need to go into settings and advanced and turn on plugins in order to view flash, but youtube vids do work, including the fullscreen switch.

But does the full version have the same tweaks as the beta3 by N1njaDuck?

Newer version of Opera Mobile and Flash support

I have read somewhere that there is a newer build of Opera Mobile than the one included with the Touch HD. This can be downloaded somewhere and is supposed to work with Flash Lite 3 for support of playing Youtube videos within the browser and so on.
Does anybody have experience with this? Does it support the WVGA-resolution on the Touch HD? Where can it be dowloaded?

Thanx Dodger for the link !
Installed the hacked VGA version of newest Opera with flash
But to be honest... i still use NetFront... i dont like this zooming all the time and Opera is not fast enough... i hope Microsoft will invent a good (!!!) web browser like Safari on the Apple. The newest Internet Explorer works like %!§/ , even slower than version 5!
I don't like the 15233 Build from the Omnia. The 15202 works better, because it still stores the settings into \windows\opera9 and not within the application data and the vibration for buttons still work with that build.
Is that "Flash" version of Opera really only for flash video pages like youtube, google video etc.? Or can it be used to view regular websites requiring a flash plugin?

[HOT] OPERA MOBILE v9.7 BETA 35166 BUILD is out NOW with Opera Turbo support

Hi all,
Finally, i've just got the hotest & latest browser for mobile phones: Opera Mobile v9.7 Build 35166 Beta
Opera Turbo in Opera Mobile is still a preview-feature;
Downloads don't work while Opera Turbo is enabled.
Some settings (such as toggle on/off images) do not apply when Opera Turbo is enabled.
On older WM 5.0 Devices with 480x800 resolution, switching between portrait and landscape may cause display errors. This is due to lack of support for this resolution in early versions of Microsoft's driver.
Some input method editors are known not to work well with Opera because they do not comply with Microsoft's SIP and/or IME standard. When such an editor is detected by Opera, Opera will use a known (default) input method instead. An exception is EzInput v1.5, where the phone keypad and compact QUERTY, ABC mode doesn't work, but the rest of the modes work fine. We recommend upgrading to EzInput v2.0 to avoid this.
Only support for FlashLite 3.x. No Flash plugin included.
Widget manager add-on
The Widget manager is an add-on to the browser, so the browser must be installed in order for the widget manager to work.
We recommend disabling Opera Turbo in the browser when using the widget manager.
Rotating widgets does not work properly. Portrait mode should be used when running widgets.
Widgets + Plugins (Flash & Gears) don't work.
Clicking internal links in a widget will launch the browser.
Twitter widget might have login problems on first run. If this happens, just close the Twitter widget (X) and open it again.
Just enjoy & rep+: http://rapidshare.com/files/242198300/operabrowser_wm_97b1.cab
Thanks
and for those who cant access rapidshare http://www.opera.com/mobile/download/
Why is there two threads on this
search please! The other thread is only a few links down
The zoom is overkill, any way to adjust it?
fck opera
tbh fck opera atm theyr bugged like hell check out better Access NetFront 3.5 it its fast and it doesint crash and it downloads fast
yes, it runs very fast, quite amazing. Wait for the official release, not beta
Here is the test on GSM Arena:
Loading GSMArena.com over EDGE:
11s - Opera Mobile 9.7 with Turbo enabled
35s - Opera Mobile 9.7 with Turbo disabled
50s - Internet Explorer Mobile(desktop mode)
With Opera Turbo enabled we get three times faster speeds over EDGE than without it
Loading GSMArena.com over Wi-Fi:
8s - Opera Mobile 9.7 with Turbo enabled
10s - Opera Mobile 9.7 with Turbo disabled
Over Wi-Fi however the difference is not the big at all
Loading Amazon.com over EDGE:
Opera Mobile 9.7 with Turbo enabled 10s
Opera Mobile 9.7 with Turbo disabled 28s
Internet Explorer Mobile(desktop mode) 80s
Again, over EDGE, Opera Mobile with Turbo is three times faster than without it
Two thing become pretty evident from this test. Firstly, Opera are slightly exaggerating the advantage their product has over Internet Explorer but its results remain pretty impressive nonetheless.
On the other hand when a faster data connection (HSDPA or Wi-Fi) is available, enabling Turbo mode becomes pretty much meaningless. You get much worse quality of the images in the pages, while the speed advantage is subjectively nowhere to be seen.

opera 10 vs builtin opera

I like the new Opera 10, but I noticed the pinch/zoom don't work. How do I get it back?
you dont.... multi-touch is not included in 10.0... which sucks so thats why i went back to 9.7 and use SkyFire to use websites with alot of flash content...
Is there anyway to remap the hardware back button with Opera 10? I can live with out pinch to zoom, but really like the hardware key.

you can enable pinch to zoom on it via bsb tweaks program from the open market. doesn't work well as the built-in programming on the earlier version of opera but it gets the job done.
I personally prefer 10 its much faster, has speed-dial and bookmark syncing. It has tap zoom which is well enough for me.
i tried 10 and for some reasonthe flash didnt work... and yes i enabled plugins

Only way I was able to get flash to work was to use a ROM that had the flash files cooked in.
flash works for me on opera 10 although i had to reinstall it due to crashing on me (non responsive/freezing phone) the first time.
Install the flash 3.1 and Opera 10 cabs to the phone storage and flash should work fine.

I could never get Flash working in Opera, until I got Opera 10. Now it works on most sites, and works great on YouTube, especially when switching to fullscreen! I still prefer to use the YouTube app though.
Ok
Ok now for install opera 10 i need to uninstall fix opera and flash lite?
And where can i see more how to install about opera 10 installation. Thank you

I wouldn't worry about uninstalling the flash stuff you've already installed. If you do want to do it then they should be in your "remove programs" list (Settings, Menu, All Settings, System, Remove Programs).
You can find out all you need about Opera 10 from http://m.opera.com
The only thing you need to remember is that you must turn on plugins when you've installed it, otherwise Flash won't work.
Can someone tell me
1. What are the major benefits between the version of Opera Mobile currently on the HD2 and this latest Opera Mobile version
2. Sam as above but major differences between Opera Mobile and Opera Mini
I am considering Opera mini as a fellow HD2 user states it is so much better than Opera Mobile
Many Thanks
thank you
thank you for all i´ll check that
Opera Mobile 10 is pretty much identical to opera mini now. But Mini runs inside java virtual machine, so no fullscreen, doesn't really like being put in the background, need to confirm connection each time you launch it,... so Mobile 10 is preferable. If you turn on Turbo mode it uses the server based rendering like mini.
Just try it and you'll see... personally I don't like the lack of pinch to zoom and somewhat broken zoom in OM10, so I stay with the default OM9.7.
I am using Opera 10 and i have turned on the plugins. I have also instaled flash lite 3.1 on my Asus P565. I can see some of the videos on youtube (not m.youtube) but not all of them.
Can you see all of the videos ?

Thanks, so is often the case new technology is often promoted with a one sided view i.e. all the benefits but not the delta changes (negatives). So I won't be going Opera Mini.
Turbo mode would be nice but losing a good zoom in feature means I'll also stick to what I have. Is this lower zoom capability by design or a bug (i.e. might be fixed one day)?

What is your prefered web browser on the HD2?

Of the ones I know if, there are the following:
IE
Default Opera
Opera Mobile 10
Skyfire
Any others people use on here?
9.7 the best
I think IE is the fastest, I wish it had pinch to zoom.
I like Skyfire for visuals and speed, but for forms and such the stock Opera seems to work best.
Opera Mini 5 is the best for me. Unfortunately I don't know how to make it the default browser. I also use skyfire for flash sites and the default Opera 9.7 for sites that requires password. But for everyday use, like ESPN, CNN, etc, etc, Opera mini 5 is the fastest and the best.
My main browser is Opera 9.7 cause of the multi-touch and ease of use, for flash sites i use Skyfire and for speed and to use some websites that dont look right on the other browsers i use IE... but mostly its Opera
i tried opera 10 but meh, seemed bothersome... even tho its flash enabled..
I use Opera 9.7 normally, but I've been giving Opera 10 a go. We will see I'm not 100% sold on it yet.
I like Opera 10, but if Opera mini 5 could be made the default I would take that... its so fast! Opera 9.7 UI is terrible imo.
I think i have tried all the browsers but i prefer opera 9.7 for daily use with skyfire for flash sites and opera mini 5 for speed browsing
I prefer the stock opera browser...
Opera Mobile 10 is sucks,
Opera Mobile 9.7 is much better.
what are you guys talking about there is a scrip for making opera mini the default browser you guys should look for it!
Opera. Don't know why but I started disliking IE a while back.
Opera 9.7 ftw!
is there any others that offer flash support, everytime i download skyfire, it just sits like 75% done and wont complete the download but skyfire still opens and works but is kinda crappy and lags.

i hear you. I hate skyfire. It is a shame it is the only one that displays all flash properly.
I wish opera could display flash 9.x and 10.x
IE is the only browser that works for most of the IT appliance GUI's I need to operate, but I wish it had pinch zoom. Zooming to fill in dialog boxes can be a pain, especially for entering passwords.
Opera's pinch is handy and makes filling in dialog boxes easier. But it fails to open the GUI screens on most of the devices I need to manage. Good for shopping, ok for webmail, getting work done not so much.
I do wish for a decent flash browser - some of our new IT reporting software uses Flash, and many of our online training sessions require it.
As a toy browser for fun 'n games though, stock Opera has been pretty cool.
Opera 9.7
Opera 10 gives me a memory error.
