SuperCSDIv4 Black Screen - G1 General

Ok I’ve been having a problem everytime I try to restore my apps to the ext2 part. After I flash and everything when I boot up everything works fine. I then run the a2sd script on reboot to pull the preinstalled apps over to the ext2 part. Then i reboot recovery and do an ext2 wipe ==> ext repair (on Amon RA btw). Then from the terminal I run: “bart -e -r apps” to load all my apps onto the ext2 part of My sd card. Ive done this like twice and each time when I reboot after restoring my apps, when the phone boots up I get a black screen after the initial android splash screen. And I have to end up doing a battery pull and reflash. Anyone have an insight into this issue.
This is the rom I'm using.

Try this
go to recovery options wipe/factory reset first then update from sd card it should work then but dont forget to backup your files if u want to

I too had the same problem. I tried doing a wipe... davlik wipe of cache... repair of ext2 etc. Didn't work for me until i totally wiped my SD card and reformatted the partitions.

Pretty sure i bricked my phone

Ok, so i had the dudes build on my phone (1.2) and i decided to try and put my apps on my sd. i had already had my sd card with the ext 2 partition so i followed these instructions from here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=512743) :
Code:
Next, after the reboot, I ran the apps2sd 2 app again and pressed "copy apps to sd" (let it do its thing)
Reboot.
Next I went back to the emulator and typed:
su
mkdir /system/sd/app-private
mkdir /system/sd/dalvik-cache
[B]Reboot.[/B]
Go back to the apps2sd 2 app and hit move dalvik-cache.
Reboot for good measure and your done.
i got to the bolded reboot and after my phone booted up, many of my apps were missing (including appstosd) and many of them were named com.____.____. i decided to restore from a nandroid backup that i had made before doing anything with appstosd and that seemed to work fine. i later realized that i could no longer install apps (an error would occur) and a few hours later my phone turned off. when i turned it back on it got stuck at the android boot screen so once i got home i wiped my phone and attempted to restore from the nandroid backup. i am still stuck at the android screen and am not sure what to do.
If you are stuck at the android screen I would try to reflash the update and maybe that will fix it, That works for me when I am stuck in a bootloop sometimes.
Easy
Phone wont Fully boot up because you messed up on appstosd.
Programs wont install because they are being routed to your sdcard which isnt set up right.. (Also Dudes latest build has apps2sd set up automatically)
Wipe... Restore one of your backups.... Or Just Reflash it with a different build.,
Format your card and then just use Apps2sd2 (program) to repartition your sdcard/setup appstosd
SHOULD FIX ALL YOUR PROBLEMS....
I had the same thing happen. cyanogen 4.04, come to find out that you don't use ApptoSD anymore. But there all the old threads for partitioning us ApptoSD to do it.
Now I'm stuck at the recovery screen without a nandroid back up. Can I use one from someone else?
Or what should I do?

It's probably best to start over: wipe your ext, wipe and your nand, and reflash.
To wipe your ext, boot in to recovery and go to the console-
Code:
mount -o rw /dev/block/mmcblk0p2 /system/sd
rm -r /system/sd/*
Then perform a wipe and reflash the ROM. A2SD should be working again.

I think I bricked my phone :(

I've been flashing the nightly build on my phone. The last time my phone was working was build 9. I than flashed build 12 and my phone got stuck on MT4G screen. I went ahead and did another full wipe but same result. Now I tried to flash build 9 and I still get same result. In a panic, I formated everything in advanced option and did another flash. Still nothing. I than followed this post in doing a wipe:
remove SD, power down device, SD in card reader, and delete all android created data (android_system; android; dcim->.thumbnails; tmp; data)
put sd back in phone.
boot into recovery
format boot
format system
{back to main menu} - factory reset
then mounts/storage, mount /system, mount /data
install .zip from SD card -> choose (CM-NIGHTLY-X)
then mounts/storage, remount /system (and /data if its not mounted)
install .zip from SD card -> choose (GAPPS)
reboot
win
So now my phone just gets stuck at the MT4G load screen. I can get into clockwork fine and flash but it just no longer will boot. Please help.
if you can boot into clockwork i dont think your bricked....try pushing the 2.x version to your phone and flash a 2.2 rom just to get to a working state.
then try again ?
I literally was going to have a heart attack. I was able to boot into the Nightly build. I guess theres something wrong with my sd card. I figured I try my 16gb card out of HD2 and it worked like a charm. Thanks for responding, I appreciate it.
Theres definitely something wrong with my 32gb Sandisk card. I formatted it with SDformatter to see if I can get it flash my phone and boot properly. Well, back to being stuck at MT4G load screen. The card works fine except for this problem. Now I just formatted 20gbs of music for nothing. FML!
haha no problem, try using HP USb storage format tool

[Resolved] Boot Loop due to corrupted filesystem CWM 2.5

So just wanted to share this in the event anyone else runs into the problem. I was running CWM 2.5 and CM7 RC2 just fine for a while now and I decided to clean my SD card yesterday since I have tons of empty folders from prior app/rom installs. After deleting some folders, my SD card would not be read by the phone. I rebooted and it sent it into a bootloop. Tried to format SD card in recovery and the settings menu, no avail. Tried to partition in adb to correct the issue and /DATA would not mount for the life of me. I could get it to mount via adb, but not in recovery. Any time I tried to factory reset or format DATA, it would say it cant mount the partition.
Anyway, I tried the latest version of CWM (3.8) and it managed to format each partition without any issues. I could then install CM7 without any issues and it booted right up.
So if anyone is experiencing SD card issues when altering the filesystem in any way, try upgrading the recovery image. It would have saved me a good number of hours troubleshooting, but hey at least I learned adb better lol
I am having the same exact problem, bootloop with no way to access card. How did you get CWM updated?

Help! Formatted My SD Card in CW Recovery!

I formatted my sd card in CWR! I then tried to load a new rom. Now I'm stuck in bootscreen and I forgot to save a backup to my computer! Not sure what to do.

Wipe cache and dalvik-cache from the recovery. Then try to boot. If that doesn't work you need to fully wipe sadly.

You need hold down the "volume up" button and the power button. that will put you in boot mode. then scroll to recovery with volume button and press power. now you can choose "mount and storage" then mount usb. now you can put any flashable rom on your phone. then flash.
If everything fails just go to CWM and wipe everything (/system, /data, /cache, /boot) and flash your favorite ROM or go stock.
Cool

Yeah I tried loading a couple different roms but it always gets stuck on the bootscreen. I believe it's because I completely wiped out my sd card through CWM.

Nah. If you really only wiped SD card in cwm your still good to go w/o problems.
Download a ROM for your device (Nexus S or Nexus S 4G) (HINT: To prevent problems with boot looping w/o formating everything download the ROM you were using at the time you wiped the sdcard.)
Connect phone with your pc/lappy.
Go to cwm recovery
Go to Wipe
Hit wipe dalvik-cache
Hit Go back once
Go to mounts & storage
Hit format /cache
*** Steps between the ***s ONLY if you're still bootlooping after installing new ROM (so leave them out the first time, if it fails come back and start at the steps above but include those 3 below this time)
format /system
format /data
format /boot
***
Hit mount /sdcard (might not be necessary if it already says unmount /sdcard)
Hit mount USB storage
Check your pc/lappy, the sd card should pop up now (if not, you're missing drivers, get them from the tutorials on how to flash ROMs around here)
Copy the ROM you downloaded previously to the sd card folder that popped up
Once finished copying hit Unmount on hte phone
Hit Go back once
Hit install zip from sdcard
Hit choose zip from sdcard
Navigate to and then hit the ROM you downloaded
Select Yes
Wait for the process to finish
Hit reboot system now
Yeah it's working! I guess the key was to completely wipe everything. Thanks!

[Q] Tab won't boot. Clean ROM install doesn't help.

My tab froze and when I rebooted it, I get a black screen right after the AOKP logo. It just sits there forever. I can boot recovery.
My story is below, but I think my question is: How can I format the partitions, because I think /data is corrupt?
Story:
I can boot recovery, and I wiped everything, then tried adb pushing a rom to the /sdcard. That's when things got weird...
adb push failed, so I rebooted and noticed that /data wasn't mounted. (/sdcard is just a symlink to /data/media)
I mounted /data from recovery and tried to push the ROM file again. This time I got some I/O errors on the push. I also noticed that in an adb shell, the /data partition would sometimes unmount by itself, and threw disk errors when copying files around. All other partitions seem to work fine.
So I deleted everything in /data/media, formatted /data, and tried again. This time I could adb push the ROM. I installed the ROM, but I still get the same freeze after AOKP logo.
