Ok,so I've tried alot of things to try to get this to work.I have adb working and have created a backup through there, but that's not my problem.I need to be able to do it on my phone like usualy because I'm not going to have access to have a PC after tomorrow.I don't know how this has happened but I flashed DCv2 (not saying anything is wrong with it) and wiped everything, including sd card.I assume that when I formatted sdcard it must of jacked something up.Any ideas? Please don't ask the usual questions,as I have done about 20 different things in 20 different orders to try to correct this.So I cannot create a Nandroid+ext backup,I can't restore a Nandroid backup, but for some reason I can make a regular nandroid backup (minus the ext). But that doesn't help as I obviously cannot even restore them.

It happened after 1.1, I cannot backup or restore. It kicks the error about running it via adb. At first it was a power issue, now its constant.

Stock will be just fine.
I backed up and reformatted my SD card but when I get back to my laptop the SD backup was deleted by my son (too big for recycle bin and permanently deleted). Stuck in boot loop (TTG 0.1.5) and cannot flash zip anything from sdcard ("can't open /sdcard/*name that rom*.zip"). Adb shell wont recognize device.
All my nandroid images were on that backup that is now gone. I can back up and restore now, but it's all my boot loop.
Thanks in advance for your help and restraint with flame outs.

I don't think you can load just anyones Nandroid image, has to come from your phone...from what I have read at least.
Should probably just run RUU and go from there with the Pre-Kitchen.

that's weird that you cant flash anything from the sdcard, check and make sure its fat32, make sure you wipe before you try to flash, if not ur gonna have to use RUU.
if you do ruu make sure htc sync is installed and you are in bootloader mode... turn phone off then hold vol down and power. then start the ruu.
p.s. you can restore ANY sprint hero nandroid backup with minimal problems/side effects.. i've done it a more than a few times with no problems

Tried it. No luck. But you can use anothers nandroid image. Theres got to be someone who has one or is willing to go back to stock, back up, and then resume as before. It only takes a minute.

If you need a stock Nandroid image I have one...keep it just in case I need to revert that far back.
If you want it, I'll zip it up and post it at http://www.darktremor.com. Let me know.

Hi all
I have flashed DamageTrev ROM.
It is going great... NOW
But I had to do a lot of flashing to fix my PRI issue..
I found out I could not restore any of my past nandroid backups!
In the recovery bootscreen .. I can start the restoring but then it would error out very quickly .
I will need to have faith in nandroid if I want to do more flashing!
Anybody have any suggestions on how to fix ?

sounds like bad sd card or it is going bad. take everything off of it, partition it, then put it back see if that works
Ive had this happen to but it usually says to type something in console instead and it usually works for me....try again and see if it gives you the console command...if not then its prob what the above said.

What does the error say? Does it mention running nandroid-mobile.sh from ADB? If that is the case you can still restore the backups. This happened to me and I just had to do it once from ADB and then it worked from recovery again.
Whenever mine does that, I plug in the USB cable and just try to restore one more time, and it works. Kind of odd...
When this has happened to me, I've take all the back ups out of my nandroid folder and left them on the computer leaving only the one I want to restore
I haven't used adb cuz i havent been able to set it up. But i have flashed Damaged control succesfully by mounting the zip on the sd card. i flashed it a couple times since ive tried installing Nexus one launcher by flashing from sd card but nothing just messed up rosie. i couldnt restore my older Rom it kept telling me use adb. Fail lol but i flashed damage control 2.05 back and working fine maybe faster. What i want to know is how to get the nandroid restore fixed or working for emergencies.
alt f4 fixes it all
huh? Confused..
he was trying to be "smart" and gave you a bogus answer if you combo press alt + F4 it will exit your screen... Not really sure what your question is though if you are asking as to why your Nandroid won't restore properly it's because you have to "wipe" your cache before doing a nandroid if you are going back to a version that is different than the currently flashed rom. Hope this helps if not then ... perhaps you could re-phrase your question.

The only way I fixed that is by running the nandroid restore through adb like it says to do. I don't understand how you don't have adb installed but you have the phone rooted? I had to get all that working to root my phone and having adb is an invaluable tool anyway.
I did read that the nandroid error sometime comes up when the sdcard is too full so you could see if that is the case. Also, as someone suggested you could try a factory reset/wipe and then try again to nandroid through recovery.

Yup,i don't even have a pc (seriously I don't)
I did run into this problem though, not sure exactly what I did but it worked itself out, maybe try flashing a different recovery image,Or try keeping phone plugged into charger(not sure what significance that has but it did seem to go for me after I was having those problems) which recovery image do you have?
Did you rename the Nandroid backup you were trying to restore to? If you did, and the file name has a space in it, it will tell you to restore via ADB. Just a thought from the limited info you provided.
I had this problem and it fixed itself out and all i did was wipe everything thats under the wipe option in recovery and it worked for me.
Yeah it was actually the cache you guys were right. i did it on my own and thought that might be it. and now i know that was it from checkin the thread. yeah i used pre kitchen to auto root my phone. im actually running damage control 2.05 now the newest sprint leak.damn i love it lol. but imma reflash it cuz i tried to flash a nexus theme/ no luck i want a nexus one interface!!!!!
I accidentally blasted my stock recovery backup... can someone put one up? would that even work (me restoring someone elses stock recovery)?
The clockworks won't let me power off the phone while its in the charger and I don't want to RUU if I don't have to.
Thanks

Its NEVER a good idea to try to restore a backup from a different phone to your device. Just run the RUU and do over. Then store the new nandroid backup to your hard drive on your pc as an extra precaution.

He doesn't like the bug that doesn't allow you to have your phone off while on the charger. I don't blame him.

Does anyone know if the Heroc has this issue with CWM? I don't recall ever running into this bug...
Exactly. I can't bump charge the phone, and since there are no roms that interest me currently or a way to do a nandroid that will capture the wimax keys I don't really see a reason to keep clockwork on it.
Please someone come out with a clockwork for our device that works, preferably with full ROM manager support

apparently this is a bug with CWM in general. or so I've read.
i have a problem related... i have a S5830, with Froyo 2.2.2, i was try intall CWM, but later the recovery don't load, but the SO load corectly, somebody say me this problem is because the CWM is only for Ginger, my question is... i can restore my recovery to the original??
PD: sorry for my english
Only if you already have a nand backup. Otherwise your going to have to RUU back to stock and start over.
I recently rooted my phone and tried a few different roms. I'm currently on cyanogen mod 10.2. I used cwm to backup my original ROM. I copied the backup file to my computer and uploaded it to my dropbox. I formatted my SD card since it had a lot of junk on it. I copies them back and now they aren't being recognized. This is my original stock ROM and since this is my first time rooting I really want to keep a stock ROM on hand for easy access incase I mess something up and need my phone to work properly. Thanks for any help. Its also a Samsung s4 i337m from fido.
can you see the backup and it's just not letting you restore it or can you not see the backup at all?
i'll tell you to keep researching and troubleshooting but if all else fails, odin back to stock, reroot, install cwm and make a new stock backup again.
Its not appearing in cwm at all unless i have a restore that was on it post format and not copied off the computer. Like if I make a backup of my current ROM the stock one will appear and just hang in checking md5. If there are no backups other than the original stock one it isn't being recognized. Also it worked before I formatteebthe SD card.
when you formatted the card and then replaced the cwm backup, where did you place the backup?
for example: 0/clockworkmod/backup, /clockworkmod/backup, etc.
if you make a backup now, where does it save the new one?
i'm just running through the bases here.
Sorry I don't know the exact locatiotion but I just dragged and dropped the "Clockworkmod" That cwm created when I made my first restore to my PC. Formatted the SD card and just dragged and dropped it back to the SD card. The new restore saves in the same folder also.
i'm assuming they're both in something like sdcard1, extSdCard or external_sd /clockworkmod/backup.
if so, and you didnt change cwm versions (i.e. from 6.0.3.6 to 6.0.4.4), then something may have been corrupted when moving the backup folder back and forth.
Yes that seems about right. I didn't change anything on cwm, unless my ROMs did. If it is corrupted will it just hang indefinitely or is there a chance it can work? And is there any other way to do a restore?
i'm no recovery expert but if your backup is corrupt than i dont imagine there's a fix for it.
i accidentally deleted my stock backup a couple phones ago. in order to have a fully stock backup on the sd card again (in the event i needed/wanted to restore to the original factory setup), i had to odin back to the stock firmware and start over.
Do you know any good guides on how to do that?

Try to re-downloading from drop box. Could have gotten corrupted during the download process.
Download it straight from dropbox to the SD card through the phone?

Nope, no luck. It just hangs at checking MD5 Sums. I tried the backup i made for foxhound 2.0 and it did the same thing.
edit: It worked it was just hanging for a good 15 minutes though.

Can you have cwm not check for the md5? It's been awhile since I've used cwm. I use twrp.
Edit, doesn't look like you can. I just flashed cwm to see. Was the foxhound nandroid one you just made and it still doesn't restore?

yeah, thats what i was gonna ask: if you've made one just now and tried restoring it.
Ok thanks for the help but the problem resolved itself after letting ti hang until it did something. It worked after about 15 minutes.
edit: I just rooted the phone a few days ago and I'm all new to this, so i figured after it not doing anything for 5 mins with the dead android on the screen was bad. Thanks for the help.

Good, yea a restore and reboot can take longer than you think. And waiting seems like forever when you're expecting it to boot. You'll get used to it.
