Removing programs - HD2 General

How do you remove programs such as Telenav when they don't show up in the Remove programs list?

Some programs are just (exe-)Files.
You can copy and delete them as you want.

I use cLaunch on my today-screen.
With cLaunch I can place icons for
programs, files and folders on my screen.
cLaunch is freeware and really perfect.

Sorry, wrong thread.

i was wondering the same thing. anyone have a solution?

anyone out there on this one?

Curious about this one myself...

I could go with post #2... if I wasn't sure you're talking about programs that are already installed in the rom image.
In that case, just like Opera 9.7, you have no way to uninstall them, not even by manually deleting the files. At least, I tried to manually remove opera 9.7 files to save space, since I now use opera 10, but it wouldn't let me.
So your only chance is to flash a custom rom without the bloatware in it.

Open File Explorer and find the icon in My Device/Windows/Start Menu/Programs. Then delete it.
jljones,
thank u so much....it was getting really annoying.
Similar problem, I installed Tube application, then updated and had to re-install after a hard reset. i now have 6 icons in total for application under programs, despite deleting everwhere I could find it. Have tried above fix, but it does not display under file explorer either.
Any help would be much appreciated.

maybe the shortcut is hidden from explore or something
try the program totalcommander it let you see hidden files
programs really just show all the shortcuts placed in those dir's
and settings just show all cpl files located in windows
I strongly recommend you for permanent use Resco File Explorer, which can show you ALL files (including HIDDEN). This problem can been solved by means of it.

Star>settings>system>remove programs
is the classic way to remove programs. Some applications have an un-installer lots do not. Some may not appear in remove programs and without great guru like skills the only way may be to just delete the obvious files.
What I do from time to time is to use Sktools from time to time to remove bad shortcuts and registry entries - along with other accumulated rubbish.

Need help removing programs from MDA

I'm using an MDA with ROM 2.26 and I want to remove t-zones and pocket msn or at least remove the shortcuts from my Today screen. I've searched and I can't figure it out. Can anyone help me with this?
Thanks

You can't uninstall a program that is inherent in a ROM. You can remove them from your Today screen, though.
Go to Start/Settings/Today.
Click on the "Items" tab.
Uncheck t-zones and Pocket MSN, along with anything else you want to remove.
Also, I haven't looked at the MDA ROM in quite a while, but if these programs also run themselves at boot, you might want to go into \\Windows\Startup to remove any .lnk files that point to them.
Nevermind, I found it.

You can also remove them from the start menu by going to Windows/Start Menu and deleting whatever shortcuts you don't want to see anymore.

Disable Recent Appications List and 7 Start Programs Limit in WM6

This is really a general WM6 question, but I have a XV6800 so i thought I would post it here.
How do you disable the recent applications/history in your start menu? All I want in the start menu, EVER, is the programs I have checked off in the Start Menu Settings section, and I never want it to keep a list of recently opened applications.
Also, how do you get rid of the "7" programs limit in the start menu? I need like 9 or 10 there (plus they will fit just fine on the home screen since I am disabling recent aplications)
Thanks.
i would recommend getting a start bar replacement like wisbar, that will let you do a lot more customizing. its what i use and i love it.
nope, i need registry tweak/hacks on how to do it. i am not going to install more ram-sucking software when it can be done natively in shell, i just dont know how.

Recent Programs
Hi
I have been looking for a solution for the recent program List
One solution is (i use this now) create another folder in your "windows\Start Menu\XYZ" and copy all (But 1) shortcuts from "windows\Start Menu\PROGRAMS" to "windows\Start Menu\XYZ" And your recent list wont be populated.
As for the limitation of 6 in the start Menu. I did not need to change that so i would not know if you find a solution i would like to know. And besides as other people mention yes WA is a good option.

Name under Program in Program tab

Hello!
Is there any standalone cab or reg fix so you can have the name of the program under the icon in the Program tab?
EDIT: and when you go into Program from the start menu, can you move the icons in there to a specific map so you can get the program view a little more organized?
You can move all the programs around and rename the files by using total commander or resco file explorer.
I have done this to organise the folder into many sub-folders.
Thank you Dave!
Now for the name under program tabs, couple of cooked roms that have the feature in them so there should be a easy way like a cab or a reg-hack

Sorry - I meant the program view in the START menu not the TAB (you had both).
I don't now use the program TAB in TF3D as I have all the programs organised in sub-folders under windows\programs and windows\office mobile.
I use that with quick menu and it's so much faster for my many apps (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=3117017&highlight=secondtoday#post3117017 - it's grown since then !!)

Yeah, I realized that you mean't the ones that you access by the start menu and got it fixed, just need the solution for my main issue. Will try yours though, but if anyone know how to fix the names please tell anyway!
Dutty's ROM does that

Yeah I know, installed it right away when it came but there were a few things on there that didn't suited me (big props to duffy anyway) so I would really like to have a solution that doesn't require a whole rom.
