Hello, maybe this is a stupid question: P but I wanted to ask, given that the Android project was able to overlock the terminal, how come there is no way to overclock with windows mobile?
There is - there's an app for it somewhere...

Qualcomm devices cannot be clocked well (or at all). There are some achieved results on Touch Pro: http://www.nuerom.com/BlogEngine/post/2009/09/06/Touch-Pro-running-at-800MHZ.aspx but it's not a good idea as the one of overclocking the Intel's XScale chips

So, will we ever have linux running on the Athena?
I guess we will.
Athena is now added to the hh.org tree, and it compiles, but i dont know if it is ever tested.
If someone like to test I can compile a kernel and make a initrd to see if it boots.
But again as allways, yo do it on your own risc.
Wow! Exciting stuff. I have absolutely no experience of Linux on a PDA although I use Ubuntu and SuSE on a daily basis. If I can help at all with any testing, I would be glad to. What kind of risks are involved? Don't fancy bricking my lovely new Ameo!

Well until now there havent been anyone breaking their device. I have tested Linux on Universal for over one and a half yers now, and it works just as i should.
But be aware of it might happend even though it's not truly that it will.
If you want to test you can join us at IRC #htc-linux at freenode.net
Call up me or a guy named cr2 to get some help and we guide you how to do it.

is it just command prompt or is there a gui?

I'll do it if we can dual boot. I setup Linux servers all the time so I have a little experience. I'll try to join up on IRC...but let me know if you can dual boot between WM5 and Linux please.

Yes, that's a real pic. I can vouch for that. I have it running on my Athena today. Still being developed but they have a great start.

It's a command prompt, but you can't yet use it. The GUI just needs
a working touchscreen driver, which is actually available and working (AD7877 on HTC Apache).

I have not yet understood how the USB host is connected
(probably Philips, not the EPSON). AFAIK there was some attempt
of writing a linux driver for it. Since the docs are available, it
should not be a big problem.
SD card?

No. It seems that it uses the ATI SD interface (like Hermes/TyTN)
which is completely undocumented. Some major work is required here.
WiFi?

The chipset calls itself ACX100, but it's not exactly the same chip as used in the Universal (which works in Linux/Universal-Blueangel).
BT?

TI BRF6150 like on the Universal (i.e. supported). The BT audio path
needs some coding, though.
Does Direct FB supported?

It's the dumb framebuffer what you can see here.
The ATI chip is not exactly the same as on Himalaya/Blueangel
(supported on Linux) so some changes are required to get
the suspend/resume and HW acceleration working.
Wow! Good work guys. Keep it up!
Yeah, i tried the pre-compiled OpenMoko on my UNiversal, it was quite buggy but so cool to see it running!
If somebody ported the OpenMoko firmware to the Universal you would have the most amazing phone, wm5/6 for most users and Linux for crazy people
Its all great work, I cant wait to try it. I assume it will boot from SD card same as the universal one did? (just click windows .exe file and it reboots)

Yes. http://jornada820.sf.net/files/haret/athena-boot.exe
Just download this file and run it.
If the USB cable is connected during boot, you may even be
able to telnet to Athena (at least it works on Hermes, but YMMV).
Wow,can somebody post more pictures?

I may have misunderstood but isn't the project on the link targeting UMPC's and not PDA Phones?
Yes.
Nothing about Ameo/Athena on there.
The OpenMoko project supports the Universal, I guess somebody will port it to the Athena soon.
What's the latest on the linux port? The wiki hasn't changed much, and there are no new posts here. Is the project stalled? Is there anything I can do?
Also, as a stop gap, is there a working X server (like Cygwin/X) for windows mobile?
Bumping an old thread in the hopes of new information. The unversal is going great - any idea for our unit?
has anybody tried to overclock the 400 Mhz Samsung processor on the HTC Tytn? my old qtek 9100 used omapclock for this purpose.any reliable software?

It's been discussed very extensively here (be sure to search before posting). There are no known ways or apps that can accomplish overclocking the Tytn/Hermes.
Supposely the new Pocket Hack Master versions allow overclocking of the samsung CPU.
Check this thread out... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=276317&highlight=overclockOOP
hmmm... risk a hard reset for maybe 40mghz? Not worth it... there would be no difference.

I apologize is this is a foolish question, but does the fact that its compiled in x86 mean that is could never be recompiled for arm devices?

Can it be recompiled for ARM? I know w/ the android emulators when an SDK was realeased they could inject it into a ROM for use, like when the 2.1 SDK came out, dev's used it to make a ROM...and if this is a true sys dump shouldn't it be even easier to re-compile for arm? or am i just talking out my arse..(probly am)
Mods please delete thread because dump not for ARM device

Thanks anyway, I think I'm going to run it on my tablet pc. Nice big (touch)screen, large keyboard, usb hosting capabilities. Only problem is maybe that it doesn't have 3 buttons

I seriously hope his "PAD" isn't white. Can't believe so many "PADS" are out in the market now! None with wings so far!!! *RELIEF*

BTW here it is! The main reason why WP7S will NOT be on my phone for more than just to see it!

Since it is emulator image for x86,
Hope my Shift can run it. Time to play
ive been followin that thread and a couple of people said there are some similarities with WM6 and WP7S. I don't know, I could be wrong though. Do follow the thread to catch up
