Got a US T-Mobile HD2, and I just enabled rotation again. I don't know why it was disabled in the first place. Maybe, it is because not all programs can be used in landscape mode (though they should be).
What are some good programs that can be used in both modes? TCPMP apparently can't do landscape. Where can I find some skins for Windows Media Player?
This is off topic, but does Android support Landscape mode?
Android does support landscape, three are several devices with slide out keyboard. Program wise, most WM should support bot landscape and portrait
I wish wm apps would have thinner status bars. for example the one that Adobe reader uses is huge. wm top bar, bottom bar and app's own bar. thats a lot of space used up.
how did u enable landscape mode, did you use registry tweak(s) or any programs?

You can install Bsbtweaks.

are there differences between the two in functionality, user friendliness and others?
I noticed the panel doesnt have the now screen functionality (full screen spb following switching screen on)

No, but I prefer the non fullscreen version of the panel - it is nice and very beautifully done. I own the full version of Mobile Shell but I actually prefer the free panelversion
@easycure
I thought I have a PM for you that haven't been replied
any other difference?
Does anyone know if we're able to change the colour of the SPB Shell panel? I can't see any configuration options for it.
Ditto - most usable panel and nice to be able to customise
hmmm, seeing that the spb panel won't be the home screen (I mean like homepage in your browser) by default, so now which one is better? shall I install the program than the panel?
panel disadvantages :
1. rather slow
2. won't be the home screen, that's mean you have to press the panel button and then select the panel to go to it which mean you'll lose media playback (music stops, radio stops) which is horrible.
3. no skin?
Do gestures work in the panel as they do in the full version?
seemed like only a few people use this apps, perhaps majority out there don't even know about it's existence?
both version seem to be very slow. both on loadup, and trying to load something else from the screen. also, the clocks don't even show the correct time for my city.. for some reason, it thinks New York is not on the east coast.. bizarre..
i used to use SBSH Facade. anybody else use that before with any succcess on the x1?
EDIT: Nevermind.. i thought the panels included on the phone were the SPB shell panels, but they're not. had to download it as well on my UK phone from clove. time is correct now.. seems to be more friendly than any of the other panels. does anybody even use any of the other panels? they all seem pretty useless.
It looks like a lot of the customizability and functionality is missing in the free panel version. I can't change the on-screen soft keys on the free panel version and some of the gestures aren't there either.
Anybody else have both versions and can compare? The full version isn't cheap and I'm not sure if the added functionality is worth it.
I was just wanting to know that since we have root is there any way to get the the orientation to work on the homescreen.
Short answer: No.
Long answer: Rosie (the SenseUI Home Screen) does not support rotating. Dream users have modified it to make it rotate and it just crashes when it does.
I deleted rosie and installed HelixLauncher. It rotates and is much faster.
Yeah HelixLauncher is definitely the way to go. It's pretty fast and has live wallpaper support. Don't try HelixLauncher2 though; it FC's like crazy because it's only for the Nexus right now.
I use SMS Popup for text notifications and if i get a notification at the homescreen it allows me rotate it to view but it also changes orientation of the homescreen as well. The phone bar at the bottom is even intact and in a wider mode. I'm sure it's possible to do if it does it with sms popup
I suppose your Rosie could have better support than the Hero's rosie, being so much newer.
home++ rotates just fine best app ever
One of my favorite things about the HD2 is the picture and music tab rotation. Has anyone figured out how to enable landscape mode while at the same time keeping the native picture and music rotation format? I've used several landscape mode cabs and tweaks but none so far can do this. Any ideas?

Hey torremitsu. Tell me what you're seeing when the picture and music tabs go into landscape..? I'm not sure what's looking different for you. I'm using the TX_Total_Landscape cab (which I'm sure you've already tried) on a stock ROM, and they look pretty much exactly the same to me (see images below). But, I'm sure I'm just being dense and not getting it lol
Or...are you saying you want everything to rotate into landscape except those two tabs...?
yes that is exactly how it looks with landscape enabled But without land scape enabled there is a totally different animation that i love. I wonder if there is a way to have both landscape enabled as well as keeping the original picture and music animation the same at the same time

wow dude...I'm totally missing something here lol, call me dumb I've played with those tabs in both landscape and portrait, with and without this cab, and I can find/see any visible differences in behavior. What animation is it that you're referring to? I don't know how to retain it in landscape, but I'm dying to figure out exactly what I'm not seeing here. Thanks for bearing with me!
No i COmpletly Get what my dude is saying. with the cabs installed its a snap change, bnut with the native rotation and actually animates a smooth change. and on top of that when in landscape on music tab (cab installed) you cant see the track list, when its native you can see the track list of your albums
Cover flow

I am thinking this dude wants to keep the landscape orientation with the pictures flowing across and the ablum cover flow to be the same. It looks a little different on your screen shots. I think he is wanting to remain like this.
But then again...I could be trippin' I am not so good with the words and putting them together and whatnot!!
LOL ok thanks everybody
I think there must be some different versions at play here or something. When I play with my music and picture tabs, I can't find any differences in the animations or behavior between landscape and portrait mode, it looks the same to me....I've never seen a look like the ones in toreone's screenshots, with or without this cab, no matter if I'm in landscape or portrait. My albums and pictures scroll up and down regardless of the orientation, and with the same animation, speed, everything. I'm also able to see the track listing just fine in landscape (by hitting the "library" soft-button). I'm sure there's just something I'm overlooking lol.
EDIT: or, I'm just thick in the head....let's not overlook that possibility
I found the perfect video that shows what im talking about. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MuOvHWoL5bg&feature=fvw
i know what you mean, in landscape it should show albums and scroll left right, but in roms that all tabs are landscaped it continues to show tracks and scroll up down, just sideways.
i don't use the tab player much, else it would annoy me too.

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to work this out either. If something is tab'd, it becomes a part of Sense and it's Sense that gets rotated, not the "Home Screen" or "Start Screen".

Ahhh well, maybe one day Thanks for the reply's gentlemen
I actually started using Android for the first time with ICS Elite ROM coming from a blackberry and didn't realise that some launchers do landscape mode.
As a result I've been using my i9000 locked in portrait mode to type and everything. The new ICS keyboard makes this feasible.
The thing is, I don't fancy doing a .zip unpack again even though Nandroid backup and Titanium backup is fairly easy. Is there a launcher to install that can do it or would I then find more apps that don't work so great in landscape? I don't like turning the screen all the time and also because if you lay on your side the auto turning is annoying, yet that's the only slick way to use both screen modes.
If I can find a launcher that can do it, it might be better to use landscape all the time.
Is there anyone else out there who uses exclusively portrait mode like I currently do?
"go launcher" has the option to either lock it in one position or turn with the sensor. some widgets get a bit distorted in landscape though
99% of the time, I hold my phone in landscape orientation; especially now that the Android OS natively supports a landscape desktop. I'd like to hide the navigation panel and just use edge gestures.
So... which edge gestures app fully supports landscape mode on the Android desktop? It looks like some apps don't even consider people use landscape on devices with large displays. In fact, I'm not even sure if Android Pie 9 will natively support edge gestures while holding the phone in landscape mode.
Thanks in advance for anyone that can answer my question!
Edit: Is there a better sub-forum on XDA to ask this question? It seems like this question would apply to any phone with a screen large enough to view Android landscape desktop comfortably.
One handed operation + from samsung
Thank you. for responding! I needed to manually enable landscape support under Advanced settings for this app! I really appreciate your suggestion!
