Yeah the active sync program allows you to sync with gmail, its push, when i send a test to myself it comes instant and when i send, it sends within 2-3 minutes. Click on START, TOOLS, then click active sync, add account and enter your gmail information, let it automatically get the settings. You CANT sync calendar or tasks, only check mail and contacts and it will work like a charm

I sync Contacts, Mail AND Calendar with my Gmail account. They've been supporting Calendar for a while now, the only thing they don't support is Task syncing.

I'm wondering the same thing! Also, is the software Constantly logging on and looking for new email? If so will this drain the battery?

I still cant get it to work for more than one email account. Also I just got this Mogul on Friday after having to get my old one replaced. It was working great until I installed this app. not to say its causing the problem, but its the only new program I've never had installed on my phones before.
Is this download the current version? I ask because I downloaded it today (6 months after the original post) and when I try to register, I get an s7200 error (or maybe it's s7131, I can't remember). It won't register at all. Not sure why since my Mogul worked fine with Sprint Business Connection and that's essentially the same program the new one just adds some better business options (like OWA).
Looks like it's coming pretty soon

Thanks for that, however this is virtualisation and a bit over kill for what I need it for.
I would love some clever person forever if they can figure out how to get the bog-standard BBConnect to work on the Xperia... Anyone up for the challenge?

Hmmm... if it is only blackberry connect that you want... why don't you just install the BBConnect for Windows Mobile on your device?
I've never used Blackberry... so can anyone tell me what the deal with Blackberry connect is? Same as Microsoft Exchange/Direct Push?

But why won't that work? BBConnect for Windows Mobile is not just working, but also reported to be working side-by-side with Direct Push enabled as well (though only across two different accounts)
Is it not supported on Xperia?
For whatever reason the Blackberry software disconnects as soon as you try to initiate. It means that you never get a PIN for the X1. If instead you searched or even tried you would have realised this.

Like i said, i haven't tried Black Berry connect on my Xperia yet... i know that BBConnect for WinMo is working on most windows mobile devices, so its probably some setting or something...
To get bbconnect to work on a cooked rom for my old tytnii, a registry value had to be edited..
I tried the same value when I received my Xperia to no avail.
bbconnect triggers Blackberry GPRS on the Xperia, it queries the network, connects saying "Network available" the disconnects when "Tunneling denied" (wording is from memory but is the gist). A PIN is never issued to the device, and from the little I know of WinMo, it seems if someone could just figure out the magic value to edit the registry, a PIN would get issued and I'd have Blackberry service back.
Nothing quite as horrible as waiting up to 9 hours for the phone to decide to finally check the POP account that is set up to check every 5 mins...
/rant over/
Someone please be a God and get bbconnect to work! PIN messaging was a neat idea before I found out the new BAS is a vitalisation - Now I have no desire to run BAS, I just want bbconnect back! **whine whine**

Well, you could do it m.... nah i'll leave that, too obvious!
I set mine to check every 15min, it seems to do it when I unlock the screen or go into messaging, good enough for me.
I'm really happy with Direct Push.
On my device i'm using Direct Push to get my company mail. And surprisingly, sometimes i get the notification on my mobile of the e-mail before i get it on my laptop.
@msalmank but that requires an exchange server for your mail, whilst most of us were using BIS with pop3/imap accounts.
For the time being I've been using Seven Beta, it's not as good as the experience I've had with BBConnect, however most mail seems to be pushed pretty quick from GMail.
I downloaded Kumars 1.7 rom but apparently he left this out. I need to re-sync my contacts, because I really cannot type them all back in. Is there a cab or someplace I can get this?

Active Sync? (WMDC if you are on Vista and above). Besides, what did you sync your contacts with prior to installing Kumar's? He couldn't have left ActiveSync out because it is not exactly easy to get rid of this app while cooking the rom.

No what he is saying is that he used the T-Mobile app mobile backup which backs up the contacts to the T-Mobile server. Active sync is included but you can't use that to restore contacts from Mobile Backup.

Sorry man, I haven't been able to find that app anywhere and you need it to retrieve your contacts. The only option that you have are to install the original stock rom and restore your contacts then back them up using active sync. What kind of phone did you have before the HD2?
Here you go. http://myphone.microsoft.com/mkweb/Install.po?mkt=en-US
Next time use PIM Backup as suggested in the how to install a rom thread.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=653614

I think he's actually talking about the bare-bones T-mobile app for backing up contacts to their servers. I'd never even seen it until it showed up in the 6.5 ROM I just upgraded to. He needs to use it again because I think that's what he used to save them...so he has to restore them with the same app.

+1 on this. Either this or simply sync with MyPhone or ActiveSync. I honestly don't trust t-mobile further than I can spit on them
I searched every where for it and came up with nothing. I wouldn't suggest you go back to stock.

It's possible to spit on T-mobile now?? Do you have that as a feature on your Even More (Saliva) plan??
Thanks all! I'm okay now. I flashed back restored them and will back up using something else. Maybe I'm crazy but I kind of like the t-mobile app it works pretty well and has saved me many times.

If you like the way that one works, just check out Microsoft's MyPhone...it's included on the stock roms and can be downloaded for free. It works very similar to T-mobile's app, but also backs up SMS messages, photos, and call logs...which can then be accessed via a personal web portal. I use it simply because it's simple, free, and automatically backs up every night.
PIM Backup is a good app too, I just happen to prefer the surprisingly-good app from Microsoft

How did you go back to stock? I've heard rumors of a few doing it successfully. Did you use the stock ROM in the rom development sticky? Sorry for all the questions just really never heard a flat out success story.
The advantage of the T-Mobile Mobile Backup application is that you can use it to transfer between phones with different OS, where Microsoft's MyPhone is only useful on Windows phones. T-Mobile is adding this to all of their "smarter" phones. I saw it on the proprietary OS Samsung Highlight, My HD2, and on the Moto Clic (android).
I've always used PIMBackup since I've stayed on WM phones.

I made my very own "Scr3w You Very Much TMOUSA" Method as described below:
Getting HD2 without contract from the store:
$450
Cheapest Unlimited voice only plan from TMO: $49.99 (without contract)
Cost over two years: $49.99 * 24 months = $1199.76
Getting HD2 with contract from the store:
$199
Cheapest Unlimited voice + Data (they will force you into this) plan from TMO: $89.99 (2 year contract)
Cost over two years: $89.99 * 24 months = $2159.76
Cost to get out of the contract (option available only after 15 days from establishing a contract): $200
Difference in phone price:
$450 - $199 = $251
Cost of breaking Contract and Keeping New Phone: $199 + 200 = $399
so we are saving $50 right off the bat
Plan Cost:
$2159.76 - $1199.76 = $960 savings over two years
Total Savings over 2 years = $1211

You may think "but I still need internet" on the road... simple answer to that too:
Internet package from non contract plan = $25
Internet package from contract plan = $30
Savings over 24 months contract = $120
May not seem like much, but when you add that to the $240 from the unlimited voice plan difference (49.99 w/o contract vs $59.99 w contract), it adds to $360 for the life of the contract, plus you can leave them dry at any point you want...

You can use GoogleSync whichshould be far better IMHO
But I think if you are going from a "dumb phone" to a smartphone or the other way (for whatever reason), I think the built in T-Mobile Mobile Backup application is the only way to transfer your data. (Of course this means you are not changing carriers.)
For same phone backup, or between google sync capable phones, you are probably right (Although you dont need to have service to use PIM Backup as your data is stored locally.)

Alternatively, you can store a lot of things on your SIM card too.
I hate using the SIM for contact backup because it splits the mobile/home/business numbers into separate entries.
In case anyone is still interested... apparently the "T-Mobile Mobile Backup" application is a renaming of the WM6.1 "T-Mobile Address Book" application. A downloadable CAB can be found here in XDA-DEVS. I dont know if they are compatable, datawise, so perhaps the OP Sirphunkee can test it out.
(I just tested.... CAB wont install on HD2)

yeah...I was just reading about it and I guess it's only working on 6.1. Obviously there's a 6.5-compatible version out there, but someone will have to extract it from the T-mo version of the HD2 ROM, and that's beyond my ability right now
(EDIT: just for the record, ferrisnox is the OP...unless by that you mean "Old Poopyhead", then yeah, that's me )
Sorry about crediting the wrong OP.
T-Mobile Address book was aquired from Voxmobili. Perhaps someone with a stock TMOUS HD2 can look for Voxsync of similar exe in their phone.
Good day I need a windows phone 7 activation key for my hd2 its very expensive to call Microsoft as I live in Antigua and I don't have internet at home if someone is gracious could u send it to [email protected] as I am presently running Android
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Activation Via Web Chat with MS
No-one is going to share their key with you because it may lock their phone, if you search the Q&A thread, there is a post where you can get the key via Chat with MS.
I don't know if this works but neither will you until you try.
Not too sure if anyone will be able to get a key for you either via the phone, they'd need your phone number. Open a Live account with MS and try the web chat way.
You have internet on your phone? Or a Library or an Internet Cafe?
