have anyone tried to contact samsung mobile?
i think would be good idea to contact and push them to make a better rom for b7610 (louvre) or to stripped down their rom from skinned all functions and features in the smartphones (omnia II and omniapro b7610), samsung mobile should realized that their products (omnia II and omniapro b7610) were had failures in the face of users, many users were disapointed when the product they bought was much less then their expectation.
PEOPLE BUY THE PRODUCTS BECAUSE THE HARDWARE SPECIFICATION AND THE WINDOWS MOBILE ITSELF NOT THE SAMSUNG MOBILE'S SOFTWARE
people choose windows mobile because it fills people needs for many reasons, such apps to installed, works, fun, etc. when samsung mobile replace all functions and features of windows mobile and stripping down many factors especially RAM left this can be horrible for samsung mobile itself
samsung mobile should know about these all, when people dissapointed they will traumatized to buy samsung products in this case samsung will dropped their market to sell smartphones, remember this, there are many smartphone products from many vendor which satisfy the needs of their user such HTC the big name, people will move to other product beside samsung even the price stick more than samsung products
of course samsung may implemented their original ROM to make characteristic of their own but still remember people dont buy samsung mobile's software but windows mobile anyway samsung mobile software already implemented in product non windows mobile
i guess many samsung users (omniapro b7610 and omnia II) feels were being cheated by samsung mobile about the specification of the hardware they got.We got less than what we have expecting (ex. RAM)
oh man..this just sucks and so annoying me until i should write this public mail for samsung mobile to show my dissapointed of their products (omniapro b7610 and omnia II)
this is not about the hardware but for samsung mobile software on windows mobile software
anyone have an access by anything to samsung please tell them about this thread. Anyone agree with me?? let's make our stand to push samsung mobile and sticky this thread
some of our friend in another forum already gather sign in to make a stand push samsung mobile and their number increased day by day

I think it's about time we start putting pressure on HTC for a WM5.0 upgrade!!
With WM5.0 devices in JAM's form factor emerging on the market soon (eg ETEN M600) would you consider trading your JAM? The same applies for existing devices with a definite upgrade path to WM5.0 (e.g. ETEN M500).
Let's get a huge vote and send the link to HTC & other relevant parties!
That's entirely useless, mate. Their interest is to sell new devices and not to extend the lives of older ones. You may as well write to Microsoft and Intel and request Longhorn to run on Pentium I
Their interest is also not to lose customers to their competitors. We can see it happening right here in this forum. And what about new customers? Would they go for the JAM with no WM5 upgrade or for the ETEN M500 with a promised WM5 upgrade?
The Longhorn on Pentium1 comparison doesn't hold. WM5.0 CAN RUN on the Magician ... Longhorn on Pentium 1 cannot.
You place too much value on customer retention. The common perception in these small tech companies is that the cost of customer retention outweighs the benefits. So they probably don't care too much if you buy your next wm device elsewhere.
BTW, your poll is telling them that if they produce a new device with WM5, you'd happily upgrade to it which is exactly what they want. That gives them even more reason to not make WM5 available on current devices.
when you bought your JAM was there a note saying that it will have a WM5 upgrade when its released? NO? well dont complain.
When you buy a phone you need to buy a new one to get the new OS, why should it be different in the ppc pe world?
Would you prefer companies to spend time trying to offer you a MAJOR upgrade for an older device rather than working on innovative new devices?? I dont know about you but i prefer the second.

Because PPC by comparison to a mobile phone is an open and extensible platform. And because it CAN be done. WM5 works on the JAM so it is really nothing more than a matter of releasing it.
Hi all,
I'm a lycky one that have a Qtek 2020.
I'm using WM5.... so I don't give a **** if MS only support new devices or even, only the new devices came with MW5.
When we bought a PC we can choose what OS we use, but in PDA this is not true, but I think in future we'll be able to choose.
Bye
The fact that E-TEN are releasing a WM5.0 upgrade for the current M500 model has already made some people sell their Magician for an E-TEN. They might like the E-TEN service and so on and never come back to HTC. Their next device will probably be another E-TEN of course!
It's very hard to get a customer, not so much to lose it.
And if I wanted a normal mobile phone I would have bought a mobile phone. I bought a Pocket PC phone with an open platform where most of the software written for it is updated on a regular basis.
I think in the scale of things most people upgrade for the device not the operating system, we all have to remember that this operating system is made by Microsoft so I personally have no great need for an upgrade to an operating system that will probably give me problems daily. On the other hand I love anything new or different so yes I to want that upgrade. If HTC gives us the upgrade do you really think it is going to stop us upgrading to a new device...... NO..... If we like it, then we need it, wether we can afford it is errelivant, we must have it at all costs.
Nokia offers software upgrades for free to there high end phones and I think it is HTC's responsabilty to those people like myself that have just bought a new PPC phone to release an upgrade, release it to all current model phones.
Hi all
just a thought, after buying my XDA2i about a month ago I suddenly realize that the XDA2i is left without an upgrade to windows mobile 5.
While the blame should be shared between the hardware company and the Operating system company, I will refuse to buy another windows mobile 5. I would like to know how many would be interested in a petition by vowing not to buy a replacement product from the same hardware vendor.
The logic behind the petition is two fold.
1) make the Software company aware that releasing newer versions of the operating system require more co-operation and easier upgrade path for current hardware (within reason of system requirements)
2) make hardware vendors realize they will not profit from repeat customers unless they provide operating system upgrade or a trade in offer whereby creating a value to their current or soon to be discontinued line of products.
XDA2i hardware sepecifications are not at all subpar. there is no reason to replace a unit nor devalue it due to newer operating system release.
Ii've had:
casio m500->ipaq3890->dellx50->ipaq1940->dellx30->mpx200->XDA2i
largely my purchase reason is due to upgraded os.
I will opt to use my XDA2i and skip wm5 entirely. Won't even think of buying a wm5 and wait till wm6. at that point buy a pda/phone that is not from the same hardware vendor altogether.
anyone welcome to throw in their thoughts? Should a petition of this sort be created?
Regards,
Rob
dptechno.com
it's already been done and sent in ..still got negative response from company's
That petition is slightly different than the one i'm proposing.
I propose that anyone who signs the petition to:
-refuse to buy next/another version of O2 pocketpc phone
-refuse to buy any pocketpcphone with windows mobile 5
unless a windows moblie 5 upgrade is made available to the XDA's
as long as companies are profiting by discontinuing upgrade support of their pocketpcs, this issue will never be resolved until the operating system can be upgradable without hardware vendor intervention.
YES!
Am in on that with you Rhuie!!
I wanted to put out my views as to what's wrong and what's right with Microsoft Phones.
Apple have a good business model - create something that is aesthetically pleasing and has a rich gui - set up an app store to get more money after the sale of the device and link it with the itunes store to get even more money... and when this isn't enough to compete with newer models of phones - they just launch 1 monre iphone device with improvements to again compete... (remember the iPhone original and all they did was give it a 3g chip and people just had to have that!)
The BEST bit about this is Development... The devices get many many updates and if you compare this to windows mobile devices - you are lucky to get even 1 update from microsoft or the network or manufacturer during its lifetime - this is in order for microsoft to sell more windows mobile licences and the manufacturers to sell more devices.
MIcrosoft has just recently come round to understand that the money is in software people buy after the device is bought - the problem is they are playing catchup and so far so bad.
Without HTC windows mobile would have died almost as fast as a gastrotrich (google it).
What I want most of all is for my device to match it's potential - Currently I'm using HTC Touch HD and I just think that spec wise its far far better than an iPhone - however I wish that HTC didn't stop at just giving it a touchflo 3d scaled to fit the screen resolution.
This device should be an iPhone killer but it's not there at all.
my resons for this -
TouchFlo3d should have been re-sexified and made to completely skin wm6
Give ne a rich gui - Apple can do it - Palm with web os can do it.
All I can show off is my flipping clock and the weather demo.
Games - well Apple have fully embraced gaming - and due to the fact that windows phones have different display properties - and different technologies - there is not a game that plays well on all devices = especially with this device due to lack of hardware buttons.
resco's bubbles is the best game at the moment - but I want to see more than balls moving round my screen and the sony ericsson xperia game got me interested to see what it can do but probably will never see the potential exploited as htc need to sell more devices and microsoft more licences.
Microsoft either needs to buy HTC for a Massive figure to act more like apple - selling 1 or 2 models at a time - and then ensuring that new models are backward compatible and people who want to stay with the device can pay to upgrade the os like apple do.
sorry this was a bit of a rant - i just know that my touchHD will never beat the iPhone with everything that apple does to control the market.
My advice to Microsoft - Windows Mobile 7 had better be everything that windows 6 isn't.
HTC - make a device you can sell by the bucketload and maximise its potential.
what do you think?

It's for samy engineers, not for the sad users.
1. If in device specification you say that it has WiFi - please make it work.
2. If in device specification you say it has GPS - please make it work.
3. just look what OCTY had made with his application, or HTC with quick gps application, please do not play with user interface, but make your hardware WORK
4. If I want have Iphone, I will buy Iphone. If I buy Android, please do not make it Iphone AKA touchwiz. It's not ugly, but consider about storage space that I'm paying for. If I will need TW or some samy widgets, I will download them. But If you will implement them, I can not uninstall them. (only with root)
5. If some older Galaxy has prety good LCD resolution, please do not make new version of Galaxy with WORSE screen resolution. Yes, I agree - we can buy more expensive phone with HD resolution. But we can also buy a phone from your competitor for the same price and with better LCD resolution.
6. Firmware again. Why in european software release we have nortamerica GPS settings ? Why do you promisse Android 2.2 and you not make it ? As far as I know samy policy you will always come with new technologies but you will never care about the older devices. That's why you are not Apple but you are Samsung.
7. I'm not agains Samsungs. Do not take it wrong. I have samy tv set (The same with FW, you do not upgrade the old models even if the hardware is the same like old models) and more Samy devices. Because I've thought that DNLA at home is a good idea. (So I realy spent many money for you - but also many, many time to fix your software)
8. Good idea will never work out if you make great hardware (LCD, TV set, mobile devices) but very very bugy Firmwares without support.
9. Your devices have GREAT parameters on the paper. But we can not use them on maximum because of many bugs. Please just release your enginers and implement clean android to your phones and believe me, may be I will give you the chance again. But not with touch wiz and bugy GPS **** without support and nor upgrade.
10. If you are not an enginer of Samsung, please forget it or forward it to their "support & development" department. Thanks.
11. and at the end, finaly I was forced to buy another device just for GPS. Because I can not use this phone and believe it like I use to with X1, or TYTN II.
I agree with you on all points..
Except on the point where you say that Samsung is not Apple. Apple can support their old devices because they only have 4 or 5 devices to speak of.. I agree that Samsung forgets old phones, but you can't compare them with a company which has only 4 phones...
but this is the way how a company gets users to stay with them, imagine apple doing all those restrictions they do AND giving a **** on older phones, who do you ti´hing would have bought the iPhone 4?
i guess nobody at all.
regarding Wifi, i think most of us have working wifi on the SG3

Up to date...
so I've got an answer that my email (I've sent to Samsung an email) was forwarded to developers.
Why I was so pissed up ? Because I have a samsung TV set and they realy do not support the old ones. And when community had developed something what helps, in the next release of their update they blocked all possibilities to make the TV set better (new widgets, TV Stream, internet browser in it, etc..),
so this is Samsung.
Nowadays we have european leaked version of 2.2 where GPS is still not working and during a calls you have a "click" (even in JPA).
I do not understand this "support".
With the current issues with Chevron and unlocking I am making the decision to trade my omnia for a Galaxy S, the phones are pretty much exactly the same hardware wise. The only thing I don't like about the Galaxy is the shape, I prefer the sqaureness of the Omnia.
Now for my Omnia:
No proper 3rd party communication possibilities(sockets), I use Skype a lot and i've tried alternatives but none of them work well when the phone goes on standby. Microsoft are so controlling with the standby mode that apps are basicly useless when the phone is on standby. Toast notifications are all controlled by MS so if they have issues with their system or a bottleneck I don't get informed that someone has sent me an IM. Which brings me on to another issue.
Microsoft platform.
Microsoft service.
Why the hell is there no Windows Live Messenger support? The fact that a company as big as Microsoft can put out a OS like WP7 and NOT include apps for their own damn product is just stupid. No one knows why they didn't and Microsoft will not give an official reason as to why.
You may say these are all software issues, that they are. Wait for the updates you say...I highly doubt an update that allows apps to use 3rd party protocols will be out for at least 6 months. I thought this februrary update was hopefully going to open up more things on the developer front but all that has been mentioned is Copy & Paste and better performance.
I shouldn't have to wait months and months for updates that allow me to use my phone the way consumers have got used to using them before WP7 was even realeased.
I stuck with Microsoft and had a lot of faith in them and even went as far as to spread the word, but this unlocking issue was the final nail in the coffin. What do you guys think I should do?
