I only have wifi for a few weeks now. And I'm realizing that GV, market, all of them, don't work over wifi. Browser works fine. I've had wifi and cell signal since january, only now am I without a cell signal.
I think there must be something I'm missing. Any help?

Hi,
I used to use google talk a fair bit on my Blackberry, it worked well.
I've switched to a G1 now and am trying to use the built in google talk client which you would think would be the dogs wotsits!
However if I leave the phone for an hour or so I seem to get signed out of Google Talk, making it impossible for people to message me until I notice and sign back in again.
I dont think it is to do with coverage, I'm using it on wi-fi in my house and also there is a good gprs signal. Besides when Gtalk on the blackberry lost connection it would keep trying and sign back in.
Anybody else seeing this?
Thanks
Mike
If you have a dataplan, try turning wifi off. The built-in IM client doesn't seem to auto-reconnect for some reason. If your wifi cuts out for whatever reason (some 2.4 Ghz cordless phones wreak havoc on wifi) then you will lose your GTalk connection.
Mine stays connected like a champ. Its actually the others that sign out all the time. But my gtalk stays connected through edge & wifi switches
Works perfectly on my g1, i have wifi turned off and always works!

Thanks for replys guys.
I'm starting to think it happens when my G1 switches from wi-fi to gprs/3g around the house.
Normally it uses wi-fi but there are spots in the house where it is weak, also gprs is not too hot, my guessing is it keeps 'hunting' between the two and this confuses gtalk client. Sound feasible?
Mike
That's probably the cause.
ur problem solved =)
i had same problem. lol. but i called att n upgraded 2 a new package of internet for the house. now its faster n i guess stronger. no cutoffs....and yes its ur wifi. wen ur screen locks, or timeout, the wifi is disabled. theres an app to keep it on but not worth the space. lol. or battery life id much rather tell you to just keep it as is. also, if u r not logged onto gtalk, wich happens...ur missed messages go to ur gmail account. so never miss a gtalk message. lol. i wish same was for aol and yahoo, and msn...i always miss messages
I have connected to my companies wifi network. I am part of IT, and know my settings work and are correct.
The symptoms:
Connect device to network. leave for day, come back next morning. wifi tries to connect, and eventually sets the remembered connection to disabled. Wifi then drains the battery like you wouldnt believe since it keeps scanning for a network.
I've tried WiFi Keep Alive from the Market, and still have the same issue. Removing the profile, rebooting, then readding works for a short time.
This only happens with my Atrix. iPhones, iPads, and blackberries work ok. My authentication settings are correct (PEAP, MSChapV2, username, and my password).
I'm in San Francisco, so AT&T's network is garbage, so wifi is needed for data in my office. I am on a microcell, which helps, but it doesnt really help much. I'm on a corp account, so I cant switch carriers.
Anyone have any known workarounds? This is my first android phone, and its really pissing me off. waiting weeks or months for 2.3 really isnt an option.
Thanks for any help. I'd like to stay on this phone for a while, but this may be a big enough issue to make me move back to an iPhone.
Experiencing the same issue here. Sounds like it's a bug in android 2.2.1. I have attempted 2 different things without any success. http://www.thexploit.com/sec/android-mytouch-4g-wpa-eap-connect-disconnect/ and http://androidforums.com/application-requests/25748-app-enterprise-802-1x-wifi-connectivity.html You may have more luck? Wish I could get it working myself!
My phone connects fine, has full WiFi service, everything else in my house that uses WiFi works perfectly fine. However, when I connect my phone to my WiFi network it get very poor performance and lose many connections to things such as Twitter and Netflix, gmail. When I turn the WiFi off and use 4G, the phone works great.
I update via FOTA and the last version

Welcome to XDA!
FYI, threads of this nature belong in the Questions & Answers section, so I've moved it there.
Hi, Apps like Myntra, Amazon, etc does not load properly on my Wifi network. I tried playing with my DNS and still its not working..All my other phones does not have any problem. Any Idea why?
Is anyone else having problems staying connected to WiFi and/or cell service with the international version of this phone? After a while, everything seems to die. Putting it in airplane mode and taking it back out seems to fix it.
See the attached screenshots. The wifi will show connected with issues, and the cell service will be zero signal. After toggling airplane mode, everything goes back to normal.
Yours is IN2025 right? Are you on 10.5.4? I had some wifi issues but not sure if it was the phone or ISP problem. I updated to 10.5.5, haven't had a connectivity problem since. The update log specifically points to addressing connectivity problems

Yep, IN2025, but in 10.5.5. What is funny is that it has not happened once all day. It happened so many times the past few days before, that I was able to tell it was usually after putting it down for a period of time (maybe going I to a deeper sleep?). At this point, I'm hoping it will not come back, but I also know nothing changed to have fixed it either.
I wonder if it is related to the wifi calling bug, where not everyone sees it. I noticed the people who aren't getting wifi calling seem to be connected to APs that allow TKIP. I have Deco M9 Plus "mesh" APs, which are generally great, but don't offer much in the way of advanced configuration options... like not being able to select AES over TKIP.
I guess I'm still having issues. Almost immediately after I posted that reply, I noticed my cellular signal was showing really low. It didn't seem to resolve on its own, so I shut wifi off (wifi seemed fine this time). As soon as I shut wifi off, I got LTE+ mobile data, and the signal strength jumped up. I have only recently actually started to trust the signal strength indicator, after the fiasco with Apple marking them up a bit to make it seem like the signal was stronger.
It should be noted this is a partner tower outside my house (which is usually a strong signal) and not the home cell spot. Not sure why I'm not connected to the latter, as I haven't left the house today (which is usually when I pick that up).
Are you by any chance with Charter/Spectrum ISP? My aging netgear router crashed a few times as I was flashing and rooting but I just kept going so couldn't really tell what was going on. I am with Google Fi and have wifi calling enabled but have not had any issues. I do not have the mobile/wifi linking. I did see on 1+ forum that someone had an issue with his router crashing but I believe he had mobile and wifi connection linking enabled.
