Difference between CDMA & GSM Hero? - Hero, G2 Touch General

Hey everyone,
sometimes I'm reading something here about CDMA or GSM Hero... where's the difference? And how do I find out which one I have?
thanks

GSM uses the GSM wireless technology, while the CDMA uses the CDMA.
CDMA is not used in Europe & since your in Germany & using T-Mobile, you have the GSM Hero.

Thanks now I know a bit more

and if I'm in Taiwan? I thought I have GSM because I had installed elelinux that seemed to be gsm ROM, but now I got Shpongle and I have trouble with connectivity. I checked the phone mobile network is UMTS , does it mean it's CDMA?

Last time i checked CDMA phones didnt have a SIM Card so do you have one ? BTW they are totally different by looks
http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=2861&idPhone2=3481 check the images and see which one do you have

HTC EVO 4G use in Italy???

Hi guys,
I have seen so many HTC phones EVO 4G for sale on ebay, I wanted to know if you can use them with Italian cards, because I do not understand ...
http://cgi.ebay.it/MINT-SPRINT-HTC-...ell_Phones&hash=item2313212bc5#ht_2365wt_1139
Thank you.
The EVO 4G doesn't take any "cards". It runs on North American (and a few select others, like KDDI/Japan) CDMA networks. CDMA networks don't use SIM cards.
the EVO is not a world phone and only operates on CDMA technology, which is only here in the US (and Japan actually, but on a diff frequency I believe).
You will need to buy a GSM compatible phone if you want to use it in Italy.
That means anything from Sprint or Verizon is out as they are CDMA (unless it is marketed as a world phone meaning it has dual radios).
You'll need something from AT&T or another provider that uses SIM cards to go abroad.
.. :-( ..
thanks you very much for the support...

Thats the most impossible thing since its the cellular radio inside the phone and it uses a diffent frequency range
this post is potato friendly
Yes you can and radio has nothing to do with it. I worked at a gsm cellphone company. You can use a cdma on a gsm network. I also worked for a cdma.. yes you can use a gsm on a cdma network. Though it has to be hacked and changed. I'tl void your warranty but yes it can be done.
You have to search hard for it and again radio frequency has nothing to do with it so that is bull.
The phone in part was a factory bought unlocked gsm asus zenphone 2. They wanted to use there unlocked phone on a cdma network knowing it was a gsm.
I told them it's not possible. Sorry.
Well they came back a few days later same phone. I checked the serial ect to make sure. It went from gsm to cdma. He said he got it sent away by someone online who fixed the phone.
Entered a simple from our company and we'll it worked. Not the best signal 3g at best but it worked. He woudnt tell me how he did it other then it cost ALOT.
But it can be done iv seen it in person.

I'd be very interested to learn more if anyone has additional insight. It occurs to me one might be able to swap the radio unit from a donor device if you want to make a "permanent" switch...
On a side note, is it just me or are new tablets coming out with lower specs than they did a few years ago? I'm looking to get a new Tablet, compatible with Sprint. All their offerings are way underspec'd compared to my Galaxy Tab Pro c2014. It also baffles me that nobody bothers to offer a dual radio option, especially considering how (relatively) big devices have become. How much could a radio unit cost at quantity? I suppose the carriers are commissioning the designs to be best suited for their service alone?
Radio Frequencies on mobile phones reply
May be that device was a gsm and cdma when manufactured; and maybe the calling company that sold it first demanded the manufacturing company to lock it on a gsm. It seems that the online guy, who made it work on a cdma, had to only inlock the feature and not hack it’s hardware radio frequency to get it work.
what about honor play COR-L29?

[Q] Verizon GN3 cdma or gsm?

For some reason, I thought the salesman said both Verizon & ATT GN3's were gsm. Is that true or is VZ cdma? I thought I read somewhere they were switching over at some time. I was thinking gsm was preferable, but is it?
Thanks in advance.
The N3 is world phone so yes its gsm too
Sim unlocked ? I don't know the note 2 was unlocked but you can't add APN settings

Thanks very much. So I could use it at some future time on Straight Talk network? What about ATT after contract met? But would an ATT phone transfer to VZ if it's a world phone?

All verizon phones have CDMA radios in them. The 3G service from verizon is CDMA. International phones utilize a GSM 3G radio as well, as Europe uses GSM exclusively. The 4G radio, however, is GSM. Therefore, all 4G verizon phones are also GSM. Until 3G gets phased out, All Verizon 4G phones will have both GSM and CDMA radios.

Same story. Few days ago I bought this device (G900R7) on ebay. I thought it was CDMA+GSM phone, like G900v and G900p, but I was wrong. It turns out, that this phone is CDMA only. There are no CDMA networks in my country.
SIM card slot is for 4G LTE internet ONLY. Phone can't ever discover gsm networks.

if thats the case, its quite unfortunate and you have my sympathy. But it just seems odd for that to be the case. The only 2 versions that i was aware of that physically differed from one another were the xynos vs snapdragon processor. Other than that it just doesnt make any sense for samsung to have had taken gsm capabilities away. The radio firmware very well could be written to not look for gsm networks, and that might be an obstacle that isnt something we can fix, but i seriously doubt that its a physical thing

Unlocked SM-N900T

Hello, I recently came across a Note 3 tmobile variant online that is unlocked. I know that it is a dual band cell phone and I am looking to use it on my Sprint account. The person I acquired it from says that she used it on Verizon (even after a point when she would not benefit from lying). I am not completely new to flashing phones over from one CDMA carrier to another (prls, msls, mdns, NAM, programming, etc.), nor am I am new to rooting etc. However I am beyond lost when trying to go from TMo to Sprint on a dual band phone. Is this possible? How might I go about accomplishing this? Will I be locked into a specific rom? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
By dual-band, you mean CDMA and gsm?
You can't flash a Sprint ROM into a T-Mobile phone. and you can't convert an n900t to a CDMA.

Yes it has GSM and CDMA from everything I have seen online, additionally in the settings of the phone itself it also offers a choice in connectivity to GSM or CDMA.
I don't have the phone but are you sure it doesn't say wcdma in there n900t?
