How to fix 32a with Perfect SPL

Dear xda developers.¨
Recently I updated my Nordic HTC Magic with an official update on HTC's site.
Before I had the update I had the HBOOT-1.3300.0009 (SAPP10000) SPL. I loved and had tried many Hero ROMs and even cyanogens mod. But then I restored my Nandroid backup and wiped the phone to install the official update...
After I updated the phone I now had the HBOOT-1.33.0010 (SAPP10000) SPL which is also known as perfect SPL....
Is there anyway to revert back to my old SPL? Or do I have to install one of Amon_Ra's Engineering SPL?
If I have to install one of the Engineering SPL's is there anyway to "restore" when HTC sends out an officially 1.6 android or cant I go back when i first go for it?
Oh and can anyone also post a method to get custom ROMs up again on the 32a with perfect SPL... It seems that all the tutorials I found in the search was for the 32b device...

Bump... I really need to know this...

Bump... I REALLY wish to know how to bypass perfect SPL for 32a and how to make it "normal" later on.....

would be nice if someone could share this information with us since i have the same problem!

Why not just try any spl you want by flashing it as an update zip or any zip file..?.

Oh and can anyone also post a method to get custom ROMs up again on the 32a with perfect SPL... It seems that all the tutorials I found in the search was for the 32b device...

There are quite a few Hero roms for the 32a

Newbie SPL Questions.

I'm new to putting custom firmware on the android platform, and I've been looking around, but haven't really found anything that answers a few questions I have about the SPL
What are the advantages of flashing a new SPL?
Does it fix problems with the ROM, or increase functionality/usability?
I have an HTC Magic from Canada on Rogers:
SAPPHIRE PVT 32A SHIP S-ON H
HBOOT-1.33.0010 (SAPP50000)
CPLD-12
RADIO-3.22.20.17
I have loaded on Amon_RA's 1.6.2H Donut Rom, and his Recovery RAv1.2.1H.

No advantage to changing the SPL.
It is the "software program loader", as long as it does that and allows you to flash "alternate" ROMs you are in business.
It is also one of the things that messing with, and breaking, can brick your phone. Only worth doing if you have a "perfect" SPL which will not allow anything other than official carrier updates.

Buying a new phone + can I root this?

Hey guys.
So I am buying this phone (please check link): Here
I asked the guy and he said it is a 32B and he is checking to see if it is 1.5.
It is a US model and does not have the network logos on it.
Will i be able to root?

Hard to say whether it is 32A or B. but you can get root access with most of the version a bit difficult with 1.6 from what I understand

It is very easy you use just a couple minutes but the method on theunloker is slightly out of dated.

Thing is, all the ROMS under HTC Magic are 32A roms?

If it comes preinstalled with 1.5 and I use a rom that is 1.6 or 2.x, how do i get back to 1.5?

If you successfully flash an engineering SPL on it you'll be able to flash any ROM you want... It won't bother you about system versions.

some roms say you need a specific SPL and radio, would I need to change them for every rom?

The only ROM I know that requires a specific SPL is CursorSense and it's for 32A... for other ROMs I think any 1.33.20xx SPL will work fine (1.33.2005 does on mine).

Sense UI

Hello,
I have a HTC MAGIC 32A and i can't download The offical HTC Magic Sense UI Rom. When I Use serial code it said it is not suitable for my device. So can any one please download the file for me and upload it on megaupload or rapidshare?
I really like Sense UI a lot more than android home.

Yes it is european, the phone is rooted, and the software version is 1.5

Then go for a custom rom and not the RUU.
Have you flashed your boot and radio to the latest version ?
If you like 1.5 .. get CursorSense with SenseUi

Both require new boot (1.76.2007) radio (6.35.xxx.xxx)

I am a bit afraid to update radio and boot. Besides I never actually thought of updatigng them( Im a Newbie). Is it safe? More or less?

Share your phones info, EVERYTHING in the fastboot menu and we'll help you. It's easy to update the radio and hboot as long as you follow instructions.

If you ever plan to use a custom rom you can kiss it goodbye that RUU upgrade has a perfected spl so you will be stuck on Stock roms only.

Okay so I installed custom rom with 2.1 Sense UI, best looking theme I ever seen, just needs a bit optimisation. Thanks for all the help

[Q] Which SPL should I use with Magic

I think my ROM problems must be related to the SPL I am using (since I have tried everything else, but cant boot into ANY ROM past the splashscreen even though recovery and fastbot work fine.)
Which SPL should I be using with an HTC magic that I think is 32b
I currently have the one linked to in the SPL thread that looks like this:

(tmobile branded, original sep2009 mytouch)

How long do you let the phone sit at the splash screen before you give up on it? Anytime I've flashed a ROM I've had to wait around 5 minutes for it to fully boot up the first time. Outside of that, you may be flashing the wrong ROMs. Which one's have you tried?

I give it 10-20 minutes every time.
I have tried 4 different ROM's, all from cyanogen (6.0.0 RC3, 5.08, 5.07, 4.2?)

Ok... you just costed me 1.5 hours of research.
You have 32B board which means that you should use 32B roms.
BUT, you have H-tag version and 3.22 radio. All 32B devices is G-tag version.
So i was confused... but i got it finally.
This is what you have to do:
Using your current spl and radio you can only use 32A roms. I know that you have 32B board but the H-tag makes it an EBI1 device and therefore you need 32A roms.
Or you can change you radio to the G version which is 2.22.19.261.
You also have to change recovery to G version or you cannot boot recovery correct.
Using the 2.22 radio you then have to use 32B roms.
CAN ANYBODY CONFIRM MY LOGIC?
ezterry CAN YOU CONFIRM?
So it's up to you...
So the question is, which roms have you tested.. 32A or 32B roms?
And did you do a full wipe + deleted all unnecessary files/folders on the sdcard before you booted the rom?

I have tested 32B roms. Always with full wipes of data, cache and dalvik.

There is your problem... :0)
You need 32A roms with the current spl/radio combination you have on your device :0)
Test one... like the froyoredux:

I don't understand how I ended up needing a 32A kernel when I have the 32B phone - I must have messed something up earlier, but it doesn't matter to me all that much - as long as this keeps functioning!

You did not mess anything up.
Your device is a 32B board but has the H-tag (The last H in the first line of the fastboot. H stands for HTC-version.. G stands for Google-version).
If you want to use 32B roms you just need to flash a different radio and recovery (as stated above) and you should be good to go.
But imho there is more 32A roms then 32B roms.. so just stay with current spl/radio combination!
But beware... since you have 32B you cannot flash the 6.35 radio... thats only for the 32A boards...
With other words:
SPL -> 1.33.20xx, where xx can be 05, 09 or 10 (just stay with the one you have now... no reason to change)
if using 3.22 radio -> must have H recovery and use 32A roms
if using 2.22 radio -> must have G recovery and use 32B roms

Is the H-tag the same thing as an H recovery? If not, where does that H-tag come into play? I ask because I was having frequent crashes associated with using the radio, so I thought maybe I should go back to the 32B radio. I did so, and tried to go back to a 32b recovery at the same time. Amon Ra's 1.7 is running for me for the first time, but the "H" is still showing in fastboot:

The H will never change...

Isn't the 32B version slower than the one with 32A?
