Is it possible to sync phone and web via usb connection not internet?

I'd say no, because syncing connects the phone to google's servers, where all your contacts and stuff are stored, and that's online.

sync diary etc with exchange server

Hi, I've got an Xda IIs and i'm thinking about introducing acouple into my workplace, but i was wondering if it is possible to sync them with the exchange server here..
What i'd be wanting to do, is to log in either via gprs or a wi-fi hotspot, connect thru a vpn connection to our local network, and be able to change diary entries, access email, etc. on our exchange server.
Has anyone been able to do this?
How is it done?
Works beautifully for mail, diary, and contacts.
Connect your XDA to your desktop then got to activesync.
Options
Check "Enable Sync with server"
"Configure"
Setup synced data as required
then click "connection" fill out all fields.
Remember that if you are using ssl you will need to install the appropriate certificate on each XDA.
Cheers,
M.
PS Server Sync works over WLAN/BT PAN/Activesycn/and GPRS
Fantastic! Thanks!
Just wondering now, I suppose I have to run activesync on a non-NAT IP computer - ie one of our servers, yes? (for a/s via GPRS to work)
so... how does that work? forgive my newbieness... I've only ever a/s'ed via my usb cradle....
no, when you do server syncing, the exchange server 2003! speaks OMA (outlook mobile sync) an http connection to your mda/xda.
cool - thanks. One last thing - the calender that will be syncing is NOT the user's calendar, but a public calendar. can A/S sync this instead of the user's calendar?
EDIT: and we use exchange 5.5 - does outlook mobile sync work with that?
just wondering if anyone has had any luck with this.. it has been about 4 months... thought there might have been some new software that would do it...

Activesync via server Help Needed

Ok, I finally managed to get access to my companies exchange server via activesync, just like clubimate e-mail. It syncs my calender, contact & inbox via the server and task and notes via the pc.
Now if I connect my Jam to my pc with USB, it syncs task and notes, and gives me error when syncing outbox, calender & contacs which goes something like this "your proxy server is not compatible with your phone'.
Now Internet Explorer connect fine to the web via USB and activesync connects fine when using GPRS. Now how do I get my phone to sync both pc and server via USB or even BT? I don't want to use my GPRS the whole day if I can use the company internet connection.

Auto Wi-Fi login & get email on sync?

These are kind of obvious things that I thought MUST exist, but I've not been able to find programs to do them :?
When I connect my universal to my PC and it syncs, I don't get my Outlook email synchronised as I use an IMAP server. Surely there must be a way to get my universal to do a send/receive automatically when it detects that it is connected to my PC?
The other thing that would help save time is an auto login when a specific Wi-Fi network is detected. I have 4 networks I connect to regularly: one which my MAC address is registered to, so I don't need to do anything else, two which require me to login using a web form, and one which only gives me intranet access until I login using a web form. Does a program exist to do this login for me automatically?
Thanks!

Creating and backing up contacts

I've serched the forum but I haven't found and answer to this specifc questions:
I want to add new contacts to my HD2. Is there a software that allows me to create those contacts in my PC and then transfer them to my phone?
Once I have the contacts, I'd like to back them up using MS My Phone, but I have a very low traffic limit on my mobile connection. Can I connect the phone to my pc and use the pc's internet connection to sync my contacts with MS My Phone? That way I wouldn't be charged internet traffic by my carrier.
Thanks

xoom android htc internet outlook

Hi ,
I have an HD2 and use it to sync to outlook at work and at home. I am interested in getting a motorola xoom or other tablet PC. (discount codes claiming 10% reduction at PC world NOT working).
My questions are...
1. if I put android on my HTC HD2 can I sync with outlook still and carry my calander between work and home.
2. If I go for a WiFI only version of the Xoom will I be able to connect via BT/Wifi and use the phone as a portable modem Like I presently do with my laptop. And if so is it easier to do this with android or MW6.5 ?? This would save paying an extra £100 and data plan for the 3g version.
Hope someone can help.

Easy Answer:
1. YES, even better, Android supports multiple exchange-accounts
2. YES, almost all Android Roms support WiFi Tethering in multiple ways
[EDIT]
What exactly do you mean with "sync with outlook"? If your company does have an exchange server (like most i think) and this one is reachable from the web (outlook web access) - YES.
If you`re really just syncing with Outlook you will need an HTC Sense Rom, so HTC Sync is supported (by this way you can sync with Outlook StandAlone).
Exchange syncs mails, calendars and contacts, HTC Sync does the same i think (my company does have an Exchange Server).
Thanks for your answer.
i have outlook for my calander only at work and on home laptop. I sync via usb cabel not server. could i continue this with an android version on my HD2? my mail at work is outlook but i dont think they alow you to sync this via internet due to confidentiality
Yes, you can sync an Android device in many ways with Outlook. Visit www.syncdroid.net to find a large listing of software to perform the task. The have chart that lists, among other things, whether the software syncs with USB, Wi-Fi, or wireless. If you want to use USB, find the ones that sync via USB and you are set!
