What are the coolest things you do with your HD2 - HD2 General

Hey guys, share with us what are the coolest things you use your HD2 for.
1. Listening to internet radio and watching tv/news
2. Checking my home webcam, no matter where I am (hamachi for connecting and VLC player for broadcasting)
3. Playing youtube videos while at a Dj gig (playing songs customers request and I don't have in my collection)

Composing my own Songs with SunVox-Tracker
I do some Tracks with SunVox.
It's very funny looking at the peoples face while I record myself singing in the train

Playing final fantasy ix on fpsece tends to blow peoples minds, but use the HD2 for everything from movies, music to comics and books, and even throw in a phone call every now and then

Yep, for me, FpseCE is the coolest thing about the phone. Everyone I show, wants an HD2 immediatly after it. Can't thank the developers enough.

Morphgear or FpseCE whilst listenting to some tunes tends to be my fav thing to do on the way to work.
Always turns some heads when I'm sat there playing Tekken 2 on my phone ... lol

The coolest thing i did was sell it on ebay because it sucked ass.
Now i have a different phone that works perfectly.

Well what do you expect when you have (clearly) been holding a pile of **** far, far to long... Iphone.
Best thing for me is by far FPSEce. I love it when i wip out Grantrismo, and the iphone users stuck with 'jellycar' just turn in shame MUHAHAHAH

I like the forums (when the fan boys arn't looking through rose coloured spectacles and actually admit the faults anyway) I also find the work interesting, along with the Android porting discussions etc.
I liked the phone, it had a lot of potential, but it just didnt perform.

Can you give some substance to your statement? I want to know why you think that is true.
I don't have HD2. I currently have a HTC Dream, Android.

I'm going to try to stay on topic
I love SportyPal, it boosted my runs, both frequency and length. Besides that I use it for e-mail, surf the web, watch youtube movies on it, and use it as a windows remote...
Lovely phone.

HD2 is great for video playback. No other phone can play normal SD AVIs without conversion (though 3 years old phone-less Palm T5 could as well). Or you can convert HD video to exact display dimensions, use mp4 format and built-in player .. and it looks just great.
Big screen is cool for maps, PDFs, manga.
But what I do with most please is using it as a torch when going to bed.

Er, sorry, but thats just not true. The Samsung i8000 and i8910 both can (along with a few other Samsung and LG handsets), the TG01 also does. I owned the i8910 before having the HD2, and actually its avi playback is much better (and looks better on the AMOLED screen), including its 720p playback.
I'm not saying the HD2 isn't a great phone, I love it and wouldn't go back to the i8910 (which is also very good in its own right), but lets stick to facts here eh?
Coolest things would be FPSece, although I really enjoy G-Remote when my laptops plugged into the television playing video/music, its hardly new but certainly ellicits a good response from people.

i think this guy means, why in the hell does aplle has such nice apps and for certain nice games for such a crappy phone.. And while our super Diamond doesn't have any cool games except the games from 20 years ago when our pc's were still working on the first windows edition.. I mean come on..
No effence on the people on this forum who are making such nice apps and games.. Cause you guys rock!! and make my diamond look more amazing!!
In that i must give apple a cheer, cause htc has developed a verry nice phone but a lack on software and games.. Cause why does my diamond has such good hardware but there's no software to play with it..
iphone the world talk about. That's why it going to get more games than htc diamond. htc diamond is more for insider for fan. I have iphone and htc diamond. I use most of the time htc diamond. But I think iphone is better. Just htc has win mobile. Which I can have more prog than iphone. but it will change.

I think people seem to forget (or don't know) that the Diamond is a Windows Mobile and doesn't need Diamond specific apps/games (apart from missing functions like g-sensor).

Games on the apple site you can play them with g-sensor, steering gas brake that kind of stuff.. I have some games on my diamond to, but i mean why doesn't htc design some programs or games for their Diamond?? They could make a lot of money with that to.. thats what i'm saying.. developing a good machine, but leave it there.. no apps or games for the diamond..

No one has 'left it there', there are shedloads of games and applications all over the place for the Windows Mobile platform; indeed there's far, far more available than there is or probably ever will be for the iPhone.

Irony...I love it!
Sorry but i would never pay for a WM Game. They are really crap. My girlfriend has the 2g iphone and i've got the diamond. I was rubbin it in her face that i was getting the best mobile phone(Diamond).I Was Wrong. But to be honest i'm really thinking of getting rid of it for the 3g iphone.
The games and apps on iphone are far superior. Graphics and gameplay! Plus there's loads.
No video calls on iphone. So what, video calling is probably the crappest invention. I don't know anybody that uses it.
Iphone has gps using Google maps which aint too bad.On the Diamond I have had a gps fix one and i've tried every Radio version. Could be where i live but iphone works here.
Diamond has a better screen resolution. GREAT! No not really. Crap how small is the screen. Besides the iphone looks miles better quality.
Don't get me wrong i love both phones. I'm not a h8r.
Just stating the facts.
One more thing.
If the Diamond was as stable as the iphone. People wouldn't have to spend all there time cooking roms instead of using there time to make Brilliant games.
Thanks for reading just wanted to have my say. Plz don't think i'm starting an arguement
You're entitled to your opinion doinbox and I respect that, but having tried both the iPhone 3G and HTC TD I'm sticking with the TD. It can do so much more than the iPhone. Here's just a few of its advantages, IMHO
Sync with my office documents,
Picture messaging
Video
Cut and paste
Swappable battery
Bluetooth stereo music (A2DP)
Has a higher, sharper screen res, which helps me big style.
A better camera
Physically it's also noticebaly smaller and fits easily in my jeans pocket,
the iPhone is quite big by comparison.
If I just wanted to play the arcadey style games on an iPhone I'd buy a PSP instead.
Blah blah blah.. iPhone vs Diamond again.. But you all are right. We need better games for our Diamond
Iphone
Hi there,
I don't see the issue of the initial poster here. There are far more games/apps (and by god better ones) available for Windows mobile and there always will be.
The IPhone is a peace of crap in a nice jacket and with s*** loads of PR thats wy it's popular but it doesn't make it less crappy. They make you pay for every little thing and in the end they will make you pay even more. If you want that then thats fine, i don't.

I hate to bring this to you because this is a straight out lie.
People make Roms because they like to fiddle around with OS stuff and to twink the hell out of it for fun, they don't do this because the Diamond would need it, a 1.93 stock rom runs perfectly stable and fast.
It is time for you to wake up and get ur facts strait. The Touch Diamond beats the Iphone in every way possible (hardware/software).
Just the fact that we lucky bastards can even change our own OS makes the Diamond superior over the IPhone in my book.

I'm Quite sure the biggest htc diamond fan in the world would admit its not perfectly stable and fast.
Didn't You read my post properly. I own a Diamond so i know from my own use its not stable. Funnily enough i just had it replaced today because it kept crashing on me. Even with l8st firmware.
I like the Diamond but i have paid for games and apps and none of them are better graphics than iphone games such as monkeyball or crash bandicoot kart or the fish app the water looks so real when you touch it. You post a link here to an app/game with graphics that good that would run on diamond and i'll hold my hands up and say i'm wrong. But i've seen and tried every game on wm6 and i know i wont be seeing a link from you.
Stop being so defensive over the Diamond everyone knows its full of problems. Well maybe not on the Hardware side, but WM6.1 is Terrible and nobody can deny that.
doinbox
I won't go into a flamewar with you, if you like IPhone thats fine with me. I love my Diamond and i think its way better then the Iphone maybe the right software for it is getting there a bit slow, so what ....
greetz
Caved
guys, guys, what's the point arguing?
we all know there are people who adore iphone and there are people who wouldn't trade their touch xy for the world. these two phones are simply aiming each at a little different clientele, and let's leave it at that. otherwise it's just an ideological discussion...
as for the games, the thing about the wm games is that there are thousands of them, some better, some worse, but because (naturally) the majority of them has been developed for the wm 5 or even 2002/2003 editions, they're simpler than the new ones, with simpler graphics, worse resolution etc. and all iphone games are developed to utilize the iphone fully.
so just look for the newer wm6 / diamond games and stop complaining about the old games being crap. and remember, games are developed for wm platform, meaning also for weaker devices, not only for our diamonds
personally i know of multiple cool games for the wm6, e.g. teeter, ccsnake, worms world party, tennis addict, open transport tycoon deluxe, resco bubbles, bubble snooker, pocket bowling, etc...
doinbox, yphone has better apps & Games? Really, where? GPS is using google maps? Yep and that thing is actually completely useless compared to Tom Tom, iGO e.t.c. I wonder why apple included GPS in the first place.
Apps? There are none. And with the power of pocket informant, One Note Mobile, Word e.t.c WM beats iphone hands down.
As a phone WM platform is much more convinient. It takes less keystrokes and time to call somebody or send SMS|MMS\E-Mail.
The only thing where iPhone really shines is the web. Big screen+Safari is a perfect solution. Diamond and Opera don't even stand close.I don't thing even Touch HD will help. But unforunatly there is no stable ICQ client for iphone, yet.
So the only thing left out - games. But if u open your eyes and look around you will find enough high quality games for WM which use 3d accelerator. Just an example http://www.clickgamer.com/products/pid_5660/screenshots/ppc/large/ss2.gif
Anyway stop whining here and get an iphone

Games on the HD2

A key feature that I'm hoping the HD2 does well is emulation. Running morphgear on my Touch HD worked alright. You couldn't really get audio to sync or work right and framerate wasn't that great either. Now with the HD2 you got multitouch support and better hardware, so it should be an awesome experience. Has anybody tried running any emulation apps on the HD2 yet?
Also the TG01 plays PSX games flawlessly check out these links:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Q9qAB7ADB4
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YR2e1Mep2b0
Anybody test this out on the HD2?
I dream of being able to play PSP games on the HD2
FpSECE should run like a charm on this monster (also without any bluetooth gamepad due the enourmous screen size). I think there are going to be alot of capacitive-scree-like-games for windows mobile now also. Pfff can.t wait to get my hands on this baby )

If you think that most of developers are going to make capacitive-like-games for windows mobile when only one device support it instead of putting their efforts on games for the iphone and android, you are going crazy.
^^ Second that! Don't keep your hopes up for any Multitouch based games for atleast another year.
Windows Mobile 7 might change that. But till then, its no use dreaming
I remember when xtract (or whatever it was called was released), this was such a fantastic game and showed what could be possible on the WM platform.
sadly, the popularity of the iphone means that most developers are working on apps for that phone instead. The main reason behind this is that every developer knows almost exactly what he will have to work with on an iphone. With WM there are too many variations of screen resolution to consider, memory restrictions etc
in addition, the relatively high cost of apps on WM (compared to the thousands of 0.59p for iphone)means that they don't sell quite so many and the demand isn't there.
it's sad, but this is perhaps the reason that WM is dying as a platform.
I saw an article the other day that said that itunes had hit the 100,000 mark for apps. I think that's an increase of about 25,000 apps in a single year. WM cannot even get close to that figure..
Well, out of those 100,000 apps 99,900 are useless fart apps and such, not the kind of games we are talking about here. App Store allows you to sell whatever you want and since there's no return policy you can have people paying for your app, no matter if it is good or not.
This is not to say there are no great games for the iPhone of course! Yet the mere number of apps there isn't really an indicator of quality.
you're right ( I question your accuracy though )
but the point is, that people are spending time creating 'useless' apps for the iphone....very few people are creating anything for WM

I think we do need to make some difference between a big number, and quality programs... How many programs are not just total useless "fart" and other idiotic crap programs.
Its easy to claim that they have 100.000 programs, when most are close to useless.
SnooPPP:
You forgot to post a more recent one. This one showes the touchscreen in action on the TG01, with the overlay:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-MHCQiT6e54
Its actually kinda playable just using a Single Touch Resistive screen.
A quick look at the forum of the FpseCE emulator shows that people are interested in the HD2.
People here question if its useful for developers to create games for a single platform. But, the specs for WM7 are know. They know that every device in the future will have at minimum, the same specs as the HTC HD2, to be compatible with the WM7 OS. So, for many developers the HTC HD2 will probable be a nice development / testing platform for the future.
Also, when looking at the PSX emulator, that now on a Snapdragon can play about every PSX game... This is a game library of? How many hundred games? Including hits like FF7, etc ...
What about the N64 emulator that they are porting for the openPandora project, on a TI OMAP 3430? When the source is released and recompiled for WM, you can expect to also that game library...
This is what im really excited about, FpSECE on the HD2 will be amazing, it just needs either multitouch support or we need a controller we can use with the HD2.

That's a bit like arguing that there's no point in putting a camera into a phone because, when you travel, you don't mind taking a camera with you. That may be true as far as it goes; but having a camera in your phone becomes useful in situations where you didn't know in advance that you were going to need a camera and then suddenly realise that you do - conveniently, you just happen to have one with you because it's built into a device that you automatically carry with you at all times. The same applies to gaming on a phone: it's useful in situations where you didn't know in advance that you were going to want a gaming device.
You also have to ask: even if you are willing to pack a separate portable console, are you willing to pack a portable games console, a phone, an MP3 player, a mobile web browsing device, a mobile email terminal, a dedicated satnav device, and a portable video player? That's quite a lot to fit in your trouser pockets. There's a lot to be said for combining multiple devices into the same box.

You forgot to mention all the chargers too
It's not like chargers take that much space... it's just one small bag. Besides, nowadays there are these universal extensions and what not if I'm correct if you really mind taking multiple chargers with you. Furthermore, if you have one device which you use for everything, you're gonna need to charge it more often, while this is not the case when using multiple devices, just to make clear that having an all-in-one device is not as heavenly as it might seem (or you're gonna have to take ALL those multiple batteries with you ).
Also, comparing taking a picture and gaming with and on a phone is not entirely just, because when one wants to game, he/she has to sit down and put time into gaming, while taking a snapshot is almost instant. What I'm trying to say is that when someone is playing a full blown 3D game (which is what is actually discussed here instead of patience, minesweeper or whatever), that person wants to put in time to focus on the game. In this case it's much better to use a dedicated device and not some emulator on a phone to play ps1 games while draining your battery life. And yes, if someone wants to take beautiful high resolution pictures, that person will take a quality camera with him/her.
Eventually it all comes down to preference I guess...

Convince me HD2 is a damn good phone!

Hi all, New guy here. So I'd been waiting a good couple of months for the HD2 and thought it would be an awesome 'consumer' phone.
I got it Monday 11th January and i'm not blown away by this phone. Dissapointed in fact.
But why though. I see alot of enthusiasts for the HD2 on here but I'm just not getting it. Basically Its alot phone and alot of money, with pretty much, not much substance or not much cool stuff on it.
What is getting you guys excited about it?
So this threads asks you to put my faith back in the phone.
The problems I have are this: -
The HTC UI/Skin I don't like much. Is there an alternative out there that isn't Windows Mobile 6.5 Default Skin?
Can you add more Widgets to the HTC UI Slider??
The only cool app is the pre-loaded game 'Teeter', Other than that there isn't much.
I can't use the Exchange Feature as I don't have an Exchange outlook mailbox to connect to, so that feature is wasted
Does anyone know if Windows Live will fully sync with WinMo 6.5. I refer to the calendar on Windows Live?
Do I keep this phone, and wait for WinMo 7 in the hope '7' is going to be something special and amazing to look forward to that would be on par with Iphone/Android?
========
Now If I was using this as a Business Phone, it would undoubtedly be brilliant, cos its WinMo! But it's not, its for personel use.
Should I just send it back and just wait for the Nexus One?
Thanks
or you can do your homework BEFORE you make a purchase...
hd2 like previous HTC phones is all about the potential for you to customize to exactly what you want. you can literally do anything you want with your phone as long as you search enough. i don't think that's the same with the iphone etc. there's a lot of apps out there you just have to find them.
thing is most non-techie people won't be able to or won't bother do this hence why i never recommend it to some people
HTC HD2 is eating iphone and omnias for breakfast!
is that convincing enough?

For me personally? The screen. The design. The functionality. The blistering speed. The screen. The ability to stand out from the crowd and lord it over iPhone sheeple. The Sense UI. The prospect of XDA chefs releasing cooked roms and increasing the phone's functionality and performance. Did I mention the goddamn beautiful screen?
I bought the HD2 to do the following:
(a) watch movies & tv (DID I MENTION THE 4.3" SCREEN?)
(b) play music
(c) browse the internet
(d) play games
(e) use it as a personal organiser/wordprocessor
And I can say with absolute certainty that this phone has met and exceeded my expectations in all respects. I. Love. This. Device. Maybe you don't. That's fine. But if none of the above has enlightened you then take it back and get something else.
Thank you, come again.

I had done my research and was impressed by the video reviews I've seen. Perhaps I didn't drill down hard enough.

hd2 like previous HTC phones is all about the potential for you to customize to exactly what you want. you can literally do anything you want with your phone as long as you search enough. i don't think that's the same with the iphone etc. there's a lot of apps out there you just have to find them.
thing is most non-techie people won't be able to or won't bother do this hence why i never recommend it to some people

Yeh, I hear you on the customizing thing. I was just wishing it worked sraight out of the box. Guess theres a fair bit of customizing to do before you perfect it in your own eyes.

For me personally? The screen. The design. The functionality. The blistering speed. The screen. The ability to stand out from the crowd and lord it over iPhone sheeple. The Sense UI. The prospect of XDA chefs releasing cooked roms and increasing the phone's functionality and performance. Did I mention the goddamn beautiful screen?
I bought the HD2 to do the following:
(a) watch movies & tv (DID I MENTION THE 4.3" SCREEN?)
(b) play music
(c) browse the internet
(d) play games
(e) use it as a personal organiser/wordprocessor
And I can say with absolute certainty that this phone has met and exceeded my expectations in all respects. I. Love. This. Device. Maybe you don't. That's fine. But if none of the above has enlightened you then take it back and get something else.
Thank you, come again.

I got two phones. One is my company phone which is a Samsung WinMo, does the job beautifully.
Personal phone was a Samsung Tocco. I'm not a fan of Symbian one bit!
Im using my HD 2 as a data collector, so the phone options are secondary though reception in fringe areas is exellent
Ive used WM devices for data collection for over 6 years now: hx4700, trimble nomad. and the HD 2 is the best yet
Using Oziexplorer for gps navigation and VectorLink for data collection, The HD 2 is faster and more responsive then the Nomad.
The built in gps is no slouch either almost as good as our globalsat BT-338,s.
Just waiting for the extended battery to complete the unit.
well... from the looks of it iphone 3gs should suit op bit better. more entertaining out of the box, lots of eyecandy and sweet simplicity.
see... hd2 is like a pc when iphones are more of a gaming consoles. they do have a sort of raw power, but no multitasking and access to the system. hd2 out of the box is more or less empty device and if You don't have a clue what to do with it at this point, then more likely You should sell it.
my hd2 works as a gps satnav, ebook reader, audio and video player when bored away from home, web browser, email client, im communicator, organiser, gaming console (psx emulator when lonely and don't feel like reading), phone (!) and lots of others. basically - same as all my previous winmo devices, but faster, on bigger screen and with multitouch. how cool is that??
The phone is pretty much like a PC you need to set it up the way you like it and install the apps on that you like. Everyone's HD2 is going to be different, for me a great fun app I found here today is Aurora, I can't stop messing about with it!

Hi,
I've just come from a zPhone 3G. I'm so glad I didn't get the 3GS!
I've only scracthed the surface I'm sure but the HD2 is so much more than the zPhone.
I've got it setup just the way I want it, it'll do things the Apple won't
I was asking the same question as you last week...
Cheers,
Gavin

Capacitive hell

I recently bought a HD2 and I think I have made a great mistake. I fell for the "capacitive screen" hype and bought this device. I found I cannot click the links on a website without zooming in. I cannot play Warfare Incorporated. I cannot use VNC. This is very annoying, coming from a resistive device. The device is practically useless to me know. I know of two capacitive styluses : the Dagi and the Pogo. Neither of them work properly with VNC and small icons on Opera without zooming in. What can I do ?

Thanks for that but can I use VNC on it ? Warfare Incorporated ? Not even talking about my fav. application on Windows Mobile = Age of Empires Gold Edition that does not work because of WVGA. Can I copy the HTC magnetic capacitive stylus somehow to get a better stylus than the Dagi as HTC do not sell it yet ?

Then I suggest you return the HD2 and go for a TP2 or HD. If these things are important to you, a capacitive screen will not please you.
Unfortunately I cannot return it now. I love the fact that it can play FPSECE perfectly and I love how you don't have to press hard on the display but IMHO the benefits are smaller than the bad things. I should have probably gone with the N900, even if it is really slow and old-tech compared to the HD2. Any other options ?
once bought, either u learn to love it or hate it
lift still goes on
dun whin about it
If not happy, just switch to other phone that is resistive lcd
complaint and complaint are useless, HTC will not change HD2 to resistive lcd if u complaint
It also wont just change to resistive lcd overnite if u complaint hard enough
There is not cannot return now....
u sell it away and get your other phone
just a matter of do you want or not.
Juz 2cent thot, esp when i see ppl whin and whin whereby you always have a choice

I use Mocha VNC on mine and it works well considering the physical size of the screen you are working in comparison to the native resolution of the host PC/server. I used to use on an Xda Orbit II, but the HD2 is a quantum leap above that.
As for the games not being compatible, have you thought about taking your whiny complaints to the software houses who don't write their software to be compatible with the current screen resolutions? Better still, why not get a dedicated games console or dare I say, an iPad?
So the phone/screen sucks because you can't play your stupid games on it? are you stupid?

This.
Also, what's the motivation to use VNC over RDP?

I had samsung i900 omnia previously and it has resistive touch after i bought HD2 even with bigger screen (samsung had 3.2inch) i couldn't work with the phone and i had the same problem i can't click on website links and etc.
but now i can do it very easily it is just matter of time trust me then you will love it and you won't work with resistive
P.S now i have problems working with resistive tocuh screen as i try to click things by finger and not nail

lol! !
Let's not be that harsh. The OP was just asking for help.
Never played anything more than Teeter on my HD2, so can't be of much help wrt games, except to say that I'm sure you'll have no problems finding an existing HD owner on these forums who would be more than eager to swop with you for your HD2 at no extra cost!
Very funny people. Calling me "*** stupid" when I just asked for your opinions. Way to go !

OK, only one person called you stupid so don't assume everybody thinks you as that... Is just not so many people buy a 600 euro phone to play games on it... My advice on your problem is to be a bit patient and you will get use it... like everybody else did... I had no problems when i changed over from my hd, adjusting to the capacitive and i did play a few games as well... Mind you the games you mentioned are not meant to be played (imho) on a non-stylus screen, thus a resistive one.. I am sure soon you can get your hands on yet more games
see... as someone pointed out, You'll more likely get used to it. I was bit worried about lack of precision, but now after almost two months of use I wouldn't swap it for anything else. I don't play games much, but I've donated for fpsece and if I am bored away from home I play Gran Turismo 2 and Final Fantasy VII with full speed and multitouch. also as an owner of pc heroes of might and magic 2 gold I've installed on my card emulated version of it and it just works great. movies are being played without any reencoding (w/o ac3... still waiting for it coreplayer... ) and web browsing with opera is so damn good, that I doubt if firefox on n900 is much better (except for the flash ofcourse).
You made a right decision, just type more on hd2 and get 1.66 rom. things are going to improve for You. trust me.
br
bro
Well, why not buy a 600 euro phone to play games ? If I just wanted a simple phone I would have bought a cheap-a$$ Nokia for 20 pounds on eBay. I bought it to use it as a PSP, ebook reader, PMP, video player, Internet device etc.

Alunalub.. no offense intended.. you would notice that a lot of us have been here for long and quite active in helping other members..
May I suggest for you to flash a nice cooked ROM.. (could recommend the Xanytech Evolution) and ofcourse the BSB tweaks to ride off problems like clicking of links etc..
Why dont you take a few mins and point of the problems/concerns you have and i can assure you that we will all try and help you out so that you can enjoy your phone

Very helpful response, thanks ! I think though that I will sell the HD2 and get a Viliv S5, a full 1.3 GHz x86 CPU that can run full Linux, Winblows etc. and 1 GB RAM for same price as this gimmick. Wish me luck to get a good deal !

Windows phone 7 and the hd2 question from a desire owner

Hey guys
I'm looking into purchasing a hd2 from my friend or possibly doing a swap for my desire
My question is what are the chances of seeing a fully working Rom with windows 7 ?
I no about the hardware limitations but is anyone currently working on a Rom ?
Would it be even possible ?
Cheers

why would you like to change Desire for HD2?
i'm going to change my HD2 to Desire or Nexus One cause i'm tired of WinMo, with it's low quality apps, and the lack of apps and games that really worth this 4.3" display and HD2's hadrware.
about WP7, there is no working ROM, and no one even know (except Da_G) when it will be working
As far as i know, Da_G is working on it.
Yet still, there is no proof that it will work.
and even if it does work someday, i doubt it will be anytime soon

Well the fact is i get very bored very quickly, iv been on android for a good 18 months, also had a play with Meego and done some developer work on that, i love the screen and i do alot of travelling on trains work wise, its much easier for me to carry a 4.3" mobile around then my 17" laptop to watch a couple of movies. The Desire screen is great, but the video player is an absolute pile of cack, the ones on the market place add very little, sometimes with a file sizer over 2gb i find the playback shocking.
On my friends HD2 playing back a 2gb video file its much much better than on my desire
only for video? go fot hd2

if you are only for watching video on hd2, go for it. I always watch WWE avi format on the train on the way to work
But let me remind you that you will miss a lot of android's cool features.
especially chatting and emailing. I came from Magic btw
But 18 months is already too much i think, so go get a new one
welcome to HD2 world!

and what about battery life? how many hours Desire last when you are watching videos? with it's 1400mAh battery and AMOLED smaller screen?
i think HD2 will last much shorter than Desire...1230mAh and huge screen
of course watching videos on it is great

well my battery life is nothing short of awful, granted i have my desire rooted and running a custom rom and it is slightly overclocked, but also running at a lower voltage, i barely get to the end of the day with facebook running in the background, and also googlemail running,
on a stock rom i get just over a day, i have a 1600mAh extended battery aswel
Whats the facebook and twitter apps like on the HD2? those are my most used apps on my desire
Also can you guys advise how well gogolemail works and also how easy it is to setup, have HTC added in any setup wizards? and does it push email directly to the handset?
oooh another question, iv just come accross some details about the PSX emulator, how good is this? that would pass the time on the train playing some FF7 or FF8!
