is there a program to do that for windows mobile? so that the connection wont fall back to gprs or edge and always use 3G or hsdpa?
in sierra wireless aircard there is an option to set that.
i think there's an option in setting, personal, phone
go to band tab and change network type to WCDMA and change band to UMTS
it works but now phone call also using the 3G network always. how to set only if making data call?

If you want to do this band change easyly, can use the tools on
this post, if you want the phone change band smartly, better you flash a good WM6.5 ROM.
Check more info on this thread.
i have a similar question but it is related to forcing the phone to switch from 3G to HSDPA mode when active data transfer occurs..
thanks..
hey all
i've got a problem with my droid pro in eu on gsm/umts network.
when i'm roaming and use gsm only (no umts) my mic and speaker are dead. i can make a call and receive it, but i cant hear anything and caller doesnt hear me. display shows seconds have past so line is opened. i can even receive sms and mms just fine and send them, only cals dont work.
if i change from gsm to umts only, then calls work fine. when im on home network everything is ok.
funny thing is, that if i make a call on roaming in umts only and then change to gsm only i can receive first call, then it's all blank again.
i have stock rom
tnx
teva
probably the problem was with the network where you was located. did you tried another network?
my droid pro works nice in roaming, in both gsm and umts.
I am facing a similar issue.
2G 900/1800 Mhz -- Voice & Data Work fine.
3G 1900 Mhz --- No Voice, Phone re-boots. Data works.
So I have to use the phone in GSM only mode.
I am on 2.3.3 / Verizon 4.6.4 update.
My new operator have same issue! (no with the old operator!!)
In a specific location i can't make/receive a call in only 2g (i can send/receive sms and data traffic is ok)... But if I switch in 3g i can do everything...
For my operator it is an issue between sim (by ORGA) and droid pro and so I'll replace my sim...
I didn't find non ORGA sim, but i have bought a dualsim adaptor, for seeing... Nothing...!
On my operator (TIM), when i'm on edge in only same locations, i can't make/recivie calls... Not with my ex operator (wind)..
But... you can try to compose on your dialer ##7764726 then call, then password 000000
verify
06 test mode
next
next
service option switch to 13k, or others, then back...
Make a call, or try this configuration
if you restart your phone you must reselect this...
Tomorrow i'll try...
I'm having trouble with LTE settings using this phone. There are "LTE preffered" and "3G only" settings only, yet I can't get it to connect to LTE without going into secret code.
I'm able to get it to work with "LTE band specific (in my case, it's 8) only" using secret code. Comes the problem when I want to make a call since LTE can't make nor receive any call and need to be dropped to 3G (or H). And since the settings didn't allow the radio to drop to 3G, I can't make any call nor receive any at all. It's leaving me with only 1 choice to change it manually when I need it.
Is there a more convenient way to have the "LTE preffered" work? I want to keep the LTE setting and make it dropped to 3G when I receive or make a call. Thank you.

In device info I find several options for the network mode: lte/gsm, lte/cdma, or lte only, but I want something like lte preferred. If I switch it on lte only, phone calls or sms stops working (can't receive or send). Is there anything I can try to prefer lte all the time? My Vodafone carrier in Romania doesn't support VoLTE and whenever I make a phone call it goes to 2g, then it takes a few seconds to switch to "H", but it almost never goes directly to 4g. I'm also rooted so some exposed module or something similar would also be appreciated.
Basically what I'm looking for is to prioritize lte all the time, but switch to 2g/3g when I make a phone call or there is no 4g signal. Can anyone help me out pls?
just got the phone yesterday and updated it to the P beta. everything works amazingly well for a beta in my opinion, BUT i cant receive calls. outgoing calls, texts, web and apps are just fine.
spent almost 2 hours at tmobile flipping all the settings around and no luck. any ideas would be appreciated.
Same issue here bro...Incoming don't ring but I get voicemail notifications.... Really annoying, even if it is a DP.
Turns out the beta doesn't play well with the essential LTE. Switch to 3g and calls will come through. Hopefully it doesn't take long to find a work around for it
I believe the people having this issue have volte enabled...try and disable volte (it's broken anyway and more than likely why calls won't ring through) and see if that works
Got same issue... My experience was that I could solve the problem with reboot.
Issue came after playing on settings for mobile network.
Is meaning, when you do this you have to reboot afterwards otherwise you can't receive calls
Try it.

Tried rebooting multiple times while changing settings around. The only way I can get the calls to come through is by going without LTE completely.

Settings/network settings/mobile network/advanced/enhanced LTE?
I had the same issue and to fix mine I just enabled Wifi Calling.
When on wifi I didn't get a call, just missed call notification. After enabling wifi calling, it comes through without issue.
I tested calling off wifi and on wifi and all calls come through good now.
This could be similar, so you guys might want to look at that also.
Good luck!
Heard from a few that this was solved by going into phone app settings -> calls -> calling accounts, then turning on "receive incoming calls". Seems it's disabled to save battery? Can't confirm as I just flashed to try it out and then went back to 8.1 because I like themes too much. Lol.
I'm on Sprint and was never able to make or receive calls regardless of Network settings in the easily accessible options menu.
The following fixed my issue. You can access this menu without downloading an app but I forget how so it's easier to just download the free app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.xsquarestudio.forcelte
I had my network mode set to LTE/CDMA when first using this app, and somewhere in the middle I changed it to CDMA but I'm not sure how much that impacted the actual fix.
These were my steps. I'm not responsible for any damage this may cause to your device as I'm not sure if messing with these settings is foolproof or not.
First, opened previously linked app "Force LTE" then under "Set Preferred Network Type" I changed to CDMA only. Enabled/disabled airplane mode. This seemed to do nothing as LTE was still showing in statusbar.
I then chose CDMA auto (PRL), airplane mode on/off, didn't seem to do much either. LTE still showed in statusbar and couldn't make calls. Also "Voice Network Type" showed "Emergency Calls only" inside the app.
I then chose the 3 dot menu and chose "select radio band". I changed that to United States, without resolving problem. Then selected "Cellular 800" and this may have solved the problem, but I continued on and selected PCS, fiddled with some settings in Phones settings menu. Was finally able to receive calls and my signal indicator showed 3G. In app Voice Network Type was listed as 1xRtt. I decided to select radio band once more and chose Class 10.
Calls were still functioning fine. So I went into Main settings menu and changed mobile network from CDMA to LTE/CDMA. LTE kicked in and calls still work!
Again, these settings may only work for Sprint hence the PCS Network option, and I believe Sprint may utilize the 800mhz frequency. The app might show you different options depending on your carrier. I don't know.
Anyway, fully functioning! Woohoo!!

I don't have anything in my settings that says "enhanced LTE" .
Tried using the 4g/LTE and the LTE only options. Neither would let calls through.
I have this problem using the Essential PH-1 with Android 9 Pie in South Korea on the KT network. It should be fully compatible, according to radio specifications, however it only works when I change the following setting:
Settings | Network & Internet | Mobile network | Advanced | Preferred network type | 3G
This is not ideal, since it makes the Internet slow, but at least I can make/receive voice calls. I submitted a support ticket to Essential requesting their official help (I'm well within warranty).
I had the same issue when I use my Att prepaid plan. The problem is caused by wrong network type, you can send text and browse internet, because they use the different channel. My PH-1 wrongly recognized the sim as CDMA/LTE mode, just switch it to 4G/LTE, it will be work. Go to Settings, then search "wi-fi calling", point "advanced" then you can see an opinion "Preferred network type" if you are ATT or T-mobile user, and your preferred network type is "LTE/CDMA“ then your phone cannot make call. Switch it to "4G/LTE", you phone will be work. BTW, Verzion uses CDMA, so if you are Verzion user, CDMA/LTE will work for you phone.
