Hey gang, I've been reading through the sticky on the PRI issue. I was running Damageless v2 for a bit, now trying out the latest 2.1 Eris-based Fresh ROM. The PRI version shows 2.11_002. My question is this... what problems are people having with these Eris based PRI's? My phone seems to be just fine, or am I missing something that should be working better? I read mention of SprintTV not working in the thread, but I don't use that app (and it's not even on Fresh). What do I gain by fixing the PRI? Thanks guys.
Dave
When the official Sprint update comes and you get a new ROM off of that, you will have problems with it not identifying the network correctly.
You are better of doing it. I would say that you NEED to. It should be essential.
Gotcha
Thanks for the reply to clear that up. Definitely don't want the phone to break on the official updated ROM.
I intentionall broke my PRI to keep MNS working. Resetting put me back to 170, which doesn't work with it. I've noticed no problems using the 2.11_002 PRI.
Not the same thing but a similar question. My PRI is currently 1.68_003, should I attempt to get my PRI updated to 2.10_003 & would I accomplish this via the way Avalaunch directed here?

As I understand, there's only one person who has the 2.10_003 PRI.
How do you update the PRI to reflect the current version vs. Flipz_01.

From the FAQ if you haven't found the answer yet. There is a MSL thread in the general section now with a easy and legal way to get it.

from what I was told flipz is just the 170 prl in disguise. If you want the 2 something prl you have to flash damge's beta 5 rom and it will change it to that. Then nandroid back to your old rom you were using. I did that recently and it worked. I changed it from the 170 to the 2 something so I can tether.

But doing this method might take some things out of the market and not all sprint apps with work. Tv and navigation do work though.
If you want sprints newest PRI then you have to flash the newest RUU. But you will lose root.
What is the number for the Sprint RUU PRI?

I did this yesterday and while it removes flipz custom pri, it does not upgrade the pri to the current one. I have the 1.70 pri and im not about to run the RUU just to upgrade it.

make a nandroid back up and go back to a 1.5 rom run pri update and then nandroid back to the 2.1 rom. (might be able to pri update from 2.1 I haven't tried it)
So 2.1 finally came out for Alaska Carriers ACS and AK Digitel/GCI.
I have already rooted my phone using the pre-release sprint ruu and have been enjoying app2sd and oc. But I really would like to have mms, is there a way to push the mms info from the official ruu to my phone? MMS is more important to me then having app2sd and oc. I am pretty sure I won't be able to root my phone if I go to the official 2.1.
I am still new and I was just wondering if that would even be possible. And if it is how I can go about to trying it.
I too am in AK, and on acs. Not worried about mmsc just yet. Release isn't even a day old. Be patient co-padawan learner the force is strong with us . No really we have people on our network working on that cuz they want it to and have tools and know how that you an me don't seeeee? We need to be patient, its gonna happen.

There's something I saw around here that extracts the rom.zip from the update. Use that and flash the rom.zip in recovery. Then, flash Jus10o's build of Toast's kernel, and voila! MMS, Overclock, and root.
Here is ACS mmsc server:
I haven't gotten this working yet though.
here is acs radio update as a signed zip that i made:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=351840&d=1277837589
and here is ACS rom.zip (renamed for users putting on sd to update a stock phone)
the rom.zip contains a recovery img and radio updates, when flashed from recovery will it ignore these?

I don't think it will ignore them. Pretty sure it needs rebuilt, rooted and SU added before things we are used to work right. Personally still awaiting the 2.1 RUU from my carrier (Appalachian Wireless) before I dive in and try all this out for myself. I could be wrong but I wouldn't just go and flash it.
Alright guys, no promises but I've been wanting to start dev'ing for the Hero.
Give me a list of what you want, and I'll see what I can whip together.
btw, the update for "acs" and "gci" are the same update file, exactly the same number of bytes! also digging through it there are images for several lower 48 carriers, so i think its the same update for ALL non sprint carriers. when i did an apn backup from a phone with the RUU applied i got 38 different values!
as far as what to see from a rom based off this release? deodexed and SU with a overclock kernel should be good. really anything else can be added in after install to suit tastes.
So I followed this tutorial to get try and get mms working on my phone
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5252563&postcount=72
I was able to send one mms so far but the person that receives it gets 9071111111 as the phone number.. Anyone know how to fix this?
It also looks like I am unable to receive any mms messages
who is your carrier? What ROM are you using? I'm on ACS and have tried the mmsc settings with Zen, Buufed and the sprint deodexed rom all with no success at all with sending, at least yours is going through.
I have been unable to receive mms messages on my hero since the day I bought it, long before rooting. You can try a *228 option 2 update and see if that fixes it, can try calling your carrier about it (just don't bring the phone into them, only over the air stuff) I haven't cared enough to do much about receiving since I cant send.

I am under GCI/Ak Digitel, I am currently using Zen. I did finally receive an mms 4 hours later but I had to go to the website to view it.
I also have been getting horrible signal since the 2.1 update came out. My girlfriend has the same problem and she actually did the official update.
I also used mmsc server "http://mmsc.akdt.dataonair.net/" mmsport "6672" in my settings
digitel is always horrible signal they may have done a PRL update at the same time as their 2.1 update and perhaps they messed up the list? is your prl version the same as hers?

that's odd that it went down in version number. Do you have your original prl from when you rooted? try restoring that prl and see if it helps. I've only worked on ACS phones so I don't have a copy of digitel's prl to offer you.

I actually lost the original prl I had when my harddrive died on my old xp computer.
Have you tried *228 option 2 like ipfreelytech suggested to get prl update, I don't know crap about AK/digitel and don't mean to butt in on you guys. I had to go back to a sense Rom and use that same guide which worked very well to get mms in/out working.

*228 doesn't do anything on my phone or girlfriends
Just so I understand, when you dial *228 and push call it doesn't do anything? I'm asking cuz I want to try and help too bud.

just comes back as not completed as dialed on both phones.
My phone is rooted running Darchdroid v2.7(I just switched to it)
Girlfriend's phone is official 2.1 from our carrier(GCI/AK Digitel)
Do you have a friend with a stock phone running new update on your carrier that you could qpst a new prl backup from?

I used the 1.47.651.1 ROOT method. I haven't Nand unlocked. I updated profile and PRL and i have baseband 1.39.00.05.31. I can turn 4g on but all it does is scan. Prior to update 4g was available. Is there something i am missing?
you might want to update your radio and wimax. Also, there are some others who have had similar problems in the Q and A forum so you might want to check there to see if there is a solution.
thanks i looked through Q&A...........my network even goes so far to say connecting to SPrint then goes back to scanning.....hmmm Anyone else have suggestions?
i have the same problem and haven't yet found a fix. I'm not sure what the problem is. This all happened after I updated to the latest Wimax from Calkulin's post... I wish I hadn't done that.

I also had the same problem until I used the following thread. As long as you were successful in getting the engineering HBoot on the Evo. My Evo is now rooted with stock 1.47. You can install any Rom you like, but I did this one because I love the sense interface. Here Is the link that helped:

After rooting with the 1.47.651.1 ROOT method since i couldn't get wimax i just went back to stock shipped rom and lost root but then used unrevolked oringinal to at least get 4g,wifi tethering, and super permissions for other programs. Until a easier guide comes out at least im back the way i bought it with super permissions. Cant flash roms but to much of a headache loosing 4g and having to run 30 commands.
If you have issues with wifi tether or 4g like i did and give up for now run exe below and go back to stock and root with original unrevoked.

Sorry about new post but I have a different PRL update...01117
I am rooted but stock and live in Gulfport Mississippi.
The reason I am rooted stock is everytime I think we are getting close to a stock update
I go stock and update my profile. This way I get the message when the official update is online.
I don't update of course and lose root I just like to know when it is officially available. Thus I don't have superuser right now and no screen capture.
Interesting....Should be in the 01115 topic tho.

Ya I did put it in there. Only problem is I seem to be the only one here with it and thus it is kinda getting buried over there. I did another PRL update just to see and still 01117.
