The folder 2577 of my navigon software on sd card stops install of the acer applications after hard reset.
After renaming the folder to something else, it worked like usual.

I'm having trouble deleting files in my XDAII. Everytime I delete a file I get stock to the waiting timer that goes on and on. In the long run , I get to soft reset my unit because this does'nt stop. After the reset the file is still there not deleted. I have a spb pocket plus program installed. Does this have to do with it.
Thanks
only with file explore or also with better filemanagers like total commander ?
even with file explorer and the menu using delete command. Do you know whats wrong?
what i asked was if you have tried other file managers then explore
because explore is really not that good and if your problem could be solved by using another manager then .......
I just had a similar situation this weekend. My SD card was full, and I downloaded email.
I could not get file manager to delete anything, though it would successfully copy to a new SD card I installed. Eventually, I tried deleting files from Album -- it worked!!!
You might try Word or the Notes program, too (though I haven't).
Go figure.
There's my $0.02
If you are trying to delete files from sd card, try removing the card then reinserting, the other thing is to make sure you close all running programs except the file explorer.
It happened to me too with the ROM 1.66, the only way was to remove the SD ant to insert it again...
After solme days it stopped to do it and now with the new 1.72 ROM it works flawlessy
I have that problem when I use the default file explorer, but only when deleting files from the phone as opposed to the sd card.
In the end I decided to do all deleting from the phone memory through my PC as it works fine from there.

Does anyone know a way to install tomtom 5.21 straight from sd card on wm5, without having to install via my PC/activeysnc?
I can do it on my xda2i by just extracting the cab from the 5.21 exe file and putting that in the 2577 folder on the sd card. Works great, so if I get a device lockup and have to hard reset, I'm not going to get caught out and have to trek home for my PC just to reinstall tomtom. I just insert the SD card and everything installs itself. Sweeeeet.
But try the same on the wizard (and I guess any other wm5 device) and the install fails. I'm guessing its just a tomtom thing as their site does say you can only install using activesync. But thats so lame. It would be great if someone has found a workaround?
Install 5.1 first onto the SD card using the howto (and test). Then install 5.2. Move the new files that 5.2 CABs insist on putting in main memory (in /Program Files/Navigator, /Contacts Navigation, /TomTom) to the corresponding directories on the SD card (Note that the directory names are slightly different - keep the 5.1 names).
I've not had to test 5.2 yet, but 5.1 seems to work OK running purely from SD after a hard reset (i.e. with nothing installed to the PPC). The only thing I had to do was recreate the shortcut in the Start Menu. You might not be so lucky with the Contacts integration, but I don't use any of that.
Thanks for the suggestion, but it hasn't fixed the problem.
I've got around it by just copying across the ttn.cab file from the 5.21 exe onto the main memory of wizard and running it from there. This 1 cab file seems to install everything that the 4 cab files installed in 5.0 and 5.1.
It would still be nice if it would install straight from sd card, but at least now I don't have to install from my PC anymore - which was the main problem.
I have installed TomTom 5 on my SD card, all working well.
I have one irritating problem however, whenever I remove and then reinstall my SD card, it automatically launches tomtom.
I've tried to stop the auto starting with the usual registry entries for START, etc, however nothing seems to work.
Does anyone know how to stop the SD card autolaunching this app?
The problem is caused by the folder 2577 on your Storage Card. IF you delete the Tomtom cabs from this folder it will stop happening. Alternatively you could rename the 2577 folder in case you need to install the software agin away from your computer.

Is there an app in the root of the SD card called start.exe? Also, when you insert an SD card it will automatically run stuff which is present in the "2577" directory if it exists. This is responsible for installing the app initially. Try renaming 2577 to something else and see if it still happens. If it does, try renaming the start app.
That's spooky findus... maybe we should get a room?! [j/k]

Brilliant, such speedy response, and a positive result. Thanks guys, this works! Has been bugging me for months. Cheers
Just got my new white Trinity w/ GPS & Tom Tom. When I try to install it, I get a low memory error and install aborts. I have 41Mb storage and 21Mb program mem free.
Anyone else have trouble? Can it be installed to card?
It can be installed to the card, yes, but I never had that problem, altough I have installed TomTom many times.
I got a lot of problems but not this one !
Is this the HTC version that is downloaded on their web site ?
CD that was in the box. They have a cab file to dnload?
Tomtom refused to install on SD
I had the same problem - and the option "install into default installation folder" was checked and grayed out, so I could not tell Tomtom to install onto SD.
I backuped my Trinity, cleared the internal storage, connected to Activesync as "Guest", installed Tomtom to the internal storage, then moved the folder \Program Files\Navigator to a folder \Program Files\Navigator I created on my SD card.
After that, I restored my device. All I had to do after that was to manually add a shortcut to the Tomtom application in my Start Menu folder.
This worked for me.
Cheers Stefan
(I installed Tomtom from CAB available on the European HTC web site: http://www.europe.htc.com/support/software/htcp3600.html)
No cab file there. It is a exe that loads via Activesync. I get the same low mem error as with the CD. I have 62 Mb free. This is rediculous.
Gave up. The installer creates a temp cab in
program files/activesync/HTC apps
If you can't find it, search the C drive for *.cab and sort by date.
Copy that file while the installer is still open. Run it from the storage card. Worked fine.
I am trying to install the new tomtom i downloaded but after i install it it says there are no maps, but when i install the 6.00 version it finds the maps ok- and they are the latest maps- i have tried to put the maps in just about every folder when installing.....
first there is a folder that says copy to sd- so i did that, and then there is a 2577 folder and a install and start file, neither of these do anything..... open the 2577 folder and inside there is1 tomtom autorun and 2 other autorun files AND a ttn and ttn2003 cabs/exes. ttn installs the program.....
where do i put the maps?
in "my documents" or on the root folder of your memory card.
done- fixed -thanks
