htc hotfixes..tmo release - HD2 General

so i understand that since its initial release.. the hd2 had to undergo a lot of official "fixes" to make the phone more stable.. now i'm wondering if these fixes will automatically be implemented into the March-24th release from tmobile un the u.s? anyone got anything for me?

funny.. i figured this was an easily answered question... someone has to know the answer....

Leak status

Since the 2.1 Leak thread is no longer sticky.....
Can we get a sticky 'status thread' for those of us stuck with the 2.1 leak so we know what is, if anything, going on or whether the devs have abandoned us?
I'd much prefer not to go haggle with the verizon wireless store, but I will if I have to. As it stands, the lack of information on this topic leaves me not sure what to do. A little input is all I ask.
I agree. Some sort of status would be nice.
there wont be any updates on the status. it will be a new thread that will all of a sudden come out and say "we have root / downgrade / whatever for those on 2.1 leak" instead of a posting in an existing thread.
so let me repeat that THERE IS NO ROOT FOR 2.1 LEAK YET.
any updates will be posted in a new thread!
you will find out when it has happened....it will be one the of the top threads.
I appreciate the response.
Can you at least tell me if someone is in fact working on it or is it just something that a dev 'may' stumble on at some point?
2.1 leak
I was just on the IRC chat yesterday and they were working on this very thing. Finding a rooted ROM was a little serendipitous and that may leave some of the 2.1 leakers feeling a little left out. Though I do not speak for any of the devs I do know that they plan on addressing this issue espcially because 2.1 official update will be out...eventually. This means that their current method of obtaining root would be obsolete. If you have another method of downgrading your phone then I would suggest using it if you are impatient like me.
So you should learn to do this thing called search.... there was a post about this very subject a day or two ago.
We, the devs, are currently working on some methods for downgrading 2.1 leaked to either 1.5 or the rooted 2.1.
We don't want a new thread about it because we are at this point just poking and prodding around on the phones hoping to find something. Most ideas we have are tried within an hour and don't work, so no need to constantly post about them.
Just please rest assured that on the irc server we are working hard to get 2.1 leak rooted or downgraded. Right now there are still a couple of us devs with the 2.1 leak so it is in our interest to get this thing worked out.
I didn't particularly want a new thread about this to keep track of either. That's why a stickied thread, maybe even locked until someone has an update, was a good idea I thought. One place, top of the list, that all us 2.1 leak users can subscribe too and know when progress is made.
What was so wrong about wanting that instead of watching the board every day, waiting for news, skimming all the titles, or searching each week to see if anything has change?
Gotta agree..
Even if it's just a place to vent, I think us early adopters of the leak deserve a place to huddle up and wonder out loud whether anyone is working on the issue or if we're just stuck..
Nobody has claimed yet to have been force at gunpoint to upgrade. We're here by our own volition..
I will agree with jcase from another thread that we can't whine much unless we're willing to help out, though.. irc.wastate.net was it?
Personally, I don't think its very beneficial for anyone to have a thread where its nothing but "ranting". There are better things to spend time looking at and/or talking about.
Rest assured that when/if a way to downgrade arises, you'll know within hours just like the root, just like the leak.
Not sure why this hasn't been done yet but I just politely explained to Verizon that my phone was pushed with the 2.1 update and that it breaks Facebook contact sync and kills the battery life and I'd to downgrade, wait for them to call HTC and say that's not possible and ask for an exchange. Done.
That actually works?

drop by the IRC chat and you can get real time updates....though they don't want to always be asked about it , if you are there you can see all of them discussing it...trust me they are trying as alot of them have 2.1leak....

This seems to be a bit contradictory. :/
EDIT: I'm thinking jcase might have been trying to use sarcasm in a forum, which isn't very detectable.
well when i went into the store yesterday the tech told me that 2.1 was up to date and the 2.1 official was pushed out by htc about a week or two ago? huh? makes you wonder what they are smokin! ill just go to another store and just be mean to em about it and tell em that 2.1 is not out and i demand a new phone...

HotFixes

Haven't seen anyone one post about this topic.. but.. this is regarding the TMOUS Version that was just released a couple days ago...
Do the new users of that phone have to download these fixes? i ask because, i'm assuming that since they had some extra time for our version of the release.. that they would already implement these hot fixes into the phone.. anyone??
i also haven't seen/read any TMOUS user talking about these hotfixes nor the issues.. so perhaps maybe its something i should just ignore?
Fixes?
If you have problems, check it out, If it's not broke? Why do anything?

Something new about R2BA013??

Way back in late April there were rumors, that soon there came a new FW to X10i, namely R2BA013. Now we are in early June and has still not been any FW.
Does anyone know anything new on the FW R2BA013 to X10i??

There are rumors that the update will be released this week, but they were posted on a chinese page and noone confirmed anything.
I sent an email to SE last week but no answer at all... what was I expecting we are talking about SE...
The only thing I know for sure is, that in the german board pocketpc.ch there is a user in contact with the SE support. He was told that the smaller X10 update should have been already released, but then it was stopped and delayed.
The small minor update is now a big major update but thats all, no further information.
Here is the link to the thread. It's in german but perhaps Google Translator will help *g*

so now here again the summary info from the conversation this afternoon.
the previously rumored known and confirmed R2B update was pulped and does not come. exactly why he could not tell me because of his visible ago everything was OK. However, it is again revised and improved but was graded with a very high security at the middle of June. so it should soon come to the validation and maximum of 3 to 4 weeks available on SEUS be .....
definitely confirm it was me that there the battery problem is resolved. There are also preserving stability and strong performance improvements. I also have the error with the cards in the VZ Timescape again mentioned that the infinite symbol disappears after contact link and some other little things ..... nochn
we only need a little patience and then the problem should also be history

Positive Signs...
@Everyone... I sent a complaint email to the CEO of SE a couple of weeks ago and I got a call last week from someone in their support centre in Newcastle (UK).. which I missed then when I tried to call them back they had gone off unplanned.. however... they were back in today and called me...
They confirmed that the updated software release has been fully tested and is signed off for distribution. He is chasing down an exact timeline for me and expects to be able to confirm it for me tomorrow at the latest. He believes it to be imminent.
When he calls me back I will update you all, and I'll also see if he can confirm what the update will give us.
Light.. tunnel... maybe!
Excellent
Root loopholes closed, maybe? Lol thanks ice, totally appreciated!

..
I'll probably hold off updating until we get some information from the "rooters" sony are notoriously known for releasing updates that close off or even make "hacking" even harder!!
They also keep an eye on developments such as in these forums...
this is really good news! would the update be for all country's?

2.2 Rollout for Locked US Streaks?

According to this: http://thedroidguy.com/2010/11/dell-streak-update-to-android-2-2-and-more/ I am waiting to see if anyone reports getting it.
If so, It would be nice if someone posts the link for the update that works for baseband 231-US, build 6601. Right now my streak is becoming useless. It has done 3 factory resets in the last week and multiple reboots and freezes in between. Before I see about returning it for a replacement, I am waiting to see if 2.2 solves the problem.
Nothing yet here in Chicago area...
I haven't receive it yet either and I'm out of MS. I thought about updating it to DJ Steve's Rom but I wanted to wait for the official rom 1st.
I get the feeling that this update isn't going to happen anytime soon.
http://www.streaksmart.com/2010/12/official-froyo-update-for-att-locked-dell-streak-was-not-released-today.html
Already reported yesterday that the rumors were not true.
I think it will.. more than likely.. someone will get it in a different part of the U.S. region and post a link to it...thats all thats really needed..

Wonk Fix Donations

I thought I would post a thread listing the Paypal address for those who would like to donate to the developer who helped bring about a fix for the dreaded wonk.
I think this guy deserves a couple bucks thrown his way by most of us who use and enjoy ASOP based firmwares.
The last couple of cyanogenmod nightlies have had ZERO wonk.
Lets keep in mind that this issue was starred with Google a couple of times and we couldnt get Google to even recognize that a problem exists!
The problem was so bad that cyanogen was releasing roms marked as stable that still had the wonk because it was an ASOP bug...
Anyway, send this dude a couple of bucks if you can. All of us running a N1 with ASOP based firmwares are benefiting from the wonk fix.
His paypal address is: [email protected]
Thanks!
-Dweebs
Ok, I just sent the guy $10 USD. Its not much but every little bit helps.
Umm what?
Google acknowledged the issue and even fixed it, which is probably why it is working in CM roms now.

Dunno if the email is the right guy, but it was fixed independently of asop.
Two different forms of wonk ..
One is the call delay bug
The other is the black screen bug
I "think" he found the issue for the call delay
Not sure about status of black screen bug
Google said the delay bug was not across all devices and only specific to Nexus so they closed the report. Last time i heard about it
Again i might have my bugs mixed up but ehhh
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1080147
This is the thread where you can see the results of the guys work. All I know for sure is that for several iterations of Cyanogenmod there was a "call delay". People would call me and not be able to hear me for several seconds. Very annoying bug. I resorted to using a CM Froyo build for a while and then a rooted OTA build of Gingerbread. It was acknowledged as an ASOP bug but wasnt present in the OTA builds of Gingerbread. This guy took the time and tracked the issue down and repaired it with a simple patch.
@Devastatin: The email is the right developer if you follow the above link you can see the name of the guy who I contacted via PM.
@GldRush98: You may have never seen this bug because I remember you commenting in a thread where you stated you only used OTA builds and not "janky custom builds like Cyanogenmod" which I am sure ruffled a few feathers.
But regardless it was a very real problem and there were a couple of threads in which people were asked to "star the issue" on Google forums. The first starred thread was closed, Google said it was hardware specific on the N1 and didnt address it. I dont know what happened with the second thread.
If you guys dont want to donate to the guy, nobody is forcing you. I just felt like the guy deserved some props for fixing an issue that noone else was addressing.
-D
I'm not actively soliciting donations, but if anyone wants to donate to me, I appreciate it. I just thought I'd post here to confirm my identity.
My changes to cyanogenmod are listed here:
http://review.cyanogenmod.com/#dashboard,1030
The a1026 suspend commit deals with the wonk, the call delay commit is obvious. If you click any of the commits, you'll see my email address there, as well.

The other fixes were for a CM related issue due to merging of 2.3.3 with 2.3.4 which broke receiving MMS from certain other phones. All bugs were a major source of complaints on both the xda nightly thread (along with Fitsnugly's Gigglebread build) and the CM nightly thread with who knows how many countless other threads in both forums.
And AFAIK, google has not fixed the call-delay bug (the wonk didn't exist on the stock ROM) from everything I have read. It still existed on various 2.3.4 builds that I tested.
jyxent fixed some of the major bugs that were plauging N1 users (and who knows how much sleep cyanogen lost due to the wonk). If I can come up with some money on this next paycheck, he will be getting some... Until then, I will just sing his praises
Gonna give this thread a final bump in the hope that the N1 users out there will show this guy some love.
I realize fixing broken code and releasing it to the community is in the spirit of open source software but every once in a while I like to give credit where credit is due. My N1 is perfect (again)!!
I'm on CM7.0.3 and am still having to use dewonkificator because of phone delays. Is this for real or is someone trying to get some free $$?

It's for real, and also seems to have side effect of greatly increasing battery life as well. Bit the fix is only in the nightlies which is why you don't have it.
You could apply the fix to the stable firmware. The dewonkificator was just a band-aid as this actually corrects the bug.
And the guys not trying to make any money off the code, it's freely available. I just think he deserves a few bucks for fixing a huge problem with our phones.
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
I believe that this was truly fixed for most devices and the developer who solved it deserves the credit for it, but I'm sorry to say that I'm also still experiencing that call delay occasionally on my N1 running CM 7.0.3...
Edit: just after posting I saw the comment that this is only available on the nightly builds... thought this was already included in 7.0.3. Anyone has a clue on when it will be included on the stable versions ?
I would think it would be included in 7.1 (or the next stable release (candidate) but I'm most likely wrong.
Oh, and the call delay exists in stock OTA builds. My husband has an N1 that is completely stock and not rooted, He has the call delay bug.
I didn't write that. Prove it!!!
this patch can be applied to another ROM like stock GB 2.3.4?
I'll wait for the next stable CM
If the next stable CM has fixed the call delay, wonk, and has better battery life you can be sure I'll be sending out some donations! I flamed on the google thread about this issue; it was clearly an AOSP bug because I experienced it on CM *and* vanilla AOSP. I'm looking forward to the upgrade back to gingerbread but until CM drops another stable I'll be rocking Froyo
This problem is completely fixed in the latest nightly builds. You can apply the fix to the 7.03 build by pushing over the fixed libaudio.so file. Step by step directions are available here if you are uncomfortable using adb, search the forum. I attached the corrected file to this post. The fix was made by jyxent and he deserves the credit for fixing this problem.
Just so everyone is clear...the call delay bug is not just AOSP. I had it right from the get go in OTA 2.3.3 and it continued to 2.3.4. I am now using an AOSP build and don't have it . I may have the MMS bug though as I can't receive certain MMS pics from certain phones/carriers. Have not narrowed down the exact issue yet.
